Juno's has been recommended to me by numerous coworkers and been on my list to try forever. I tried coming here twice, on Sunday and Monday only to find out those are the two days they're closed... this past third time was the charm and oh man these sandwiches are amazing -- well worth the hype! By far the most popular sandwich here is the Panko Crusted Eggplant, so while I'm not the biggest fan of eggplant --especially as part of a sandwich -- I knew it was a must try. Packed with roasted peppers, arugula and layered with Manchego cheese in a light balsamic reduction, this is a delightful symphony of textures and flavors that even non-vegetarians will fall for. Just try it, trust me! We also got the Grilled Chicken, which was a more classic combo of tender (despite not being thinly sliced) chicken, crispy bacon and greens. While the eggplant was more texturally complex and unique, for return visits it's more likely that I'd gravitate to this one because of how how clean it tastes overall... but honestly both sandwiches were pretty much tied for my favorite! The key ingredients that make these sandwiches so magical are simply two things: their bread and the addictive basil aioli sauce. Imo, bread is always the foundation of a good sandwich and Juno's has perfected a chewy, crunchy and airy vehicle with simple yet delicious ingredient combinations and just the right amount of sauce. I think if I could eat one sandwich for the rest of my life, it would be the bacon chicken avocado sandwich from Juno's. The chicken is perfectly grilled, the manchego cheese adds a sharpness that I've never tried in another sandwich, and the aioli ties it all together. The turkey sandwich was a 4/5 but the potatoes it came with were dry and icky as if they had been left out for a very long time. The bread is good and the sandwich is satisfying but is not made to perfection like you would find with the turkey pesto panini Tartine in San Francisco. I called in an order during the week and no one picked up. Within 30 seconds they were calling me back, which I thought was so nice! I ordered the panko crusted eggplant and the soppresata salami over the phone and they said it would be about 20 minutes. When I arrived I had to circle the block for parking but quickly found a spot and ran across the street. When I got inside there were 2 other groups ordering and they mentioned it would be about 20 minutes so I was glad I called ahead! There's not a lot of places to sit - so to go is likely the best solution! When I got home the eggplant was still warm. It was beyond incredible! The BEST Panko Crusted Eggplant Sandwich ever! I cannot rave enough about this sandwich from Juno's. They serve really high quality sandwiches and everything is made in house including the bread. The basil aioli on this sandwich is delicious. They do not skimp and I think there was two long pieces of smashed eggplant with a cheese skirt on it.There was roasted bell peppers too and this is my favorite kind of sandwich. Forget meatless Monday, I would take this sandwich over another any day. I was sent to a happy place with each bite and back to earth. Please do yourself a favor and order this sando, you won't be disappointed. I was lucky that I got there on a slow Friday afternoon. The smoked trout at Juno's was my favorite thing ever, but the last two times I've gone, they didn't have it and that makes me sad cause it was so good! this last time I tried the Halloumi which was very good, I just wish the cheese had more marinade before getting grilled but honestly as long as it squeaks when I'm in heaven hehe. the time before that, I tried a pasta, which was good, but I think I prefer the sandwiches here. Stopped by for late lunch takeout. The place is a modest sandwich shop and simply decorated with a small menu of gourmet sandwiches, salads, cookies and brownies. The owner was working the counter and she's super friendly. She explained they've been in business for 12 years and did well during the Pandemic. I can easily see why. I've had most of their sandwiches and they are all fantastic. My favorite is the Banh mi which is perfect with the firm bread, aioli, fresh vegetables, and pork. Stopped by here with my friends who live in East Sac today. I ordered a grilled halloumi sandwich and my sister had a bahn mi. We also got a blondie. The blondie was BANGING! How did I not know about this place sooner?! It's located in a very accessible location on Folsom Blvd next to Station 38, Steve's Pizza, etc but easy to miss because there isn't a clear storefront. The definition of hole in the wall! I didn't see any indoor or outdoor seating during COVID and appears they are doing takeout only. The pappardelle pasta is what caught my eye and get lunch here on a whim. They only do lunch (close at 3pm) but for a delicatessen, man oh man, they do pasta so well! Mine came with large succulent shrimp (very generous, I got 7 or so total), caramelized onions, garlic, and a glug of olive oil. It was delicious and everything I love in a pasta! For $16.95, absolutely worth it for a rich, satisfying meal--more of a dinner item for sure, but the huge portion lended itself to leftovers which were equally as good although I warn you, a bit oily. They have a great selection of sandwiches too with housemade bread--is there anything they can't do?! They sell loaves for $8 separately and you can get a side of bread with the pastas for extra. I'm kicking myself for not doing so! The sandwiches have pretty abundant vegetarian choices too. My boyfriend got the Halloumi sandwich which came with grilled cheese and balsamic reduction. So good! Sandwiches come with your choice of salad or roasted potatoes. We tried salad this time so next visit, potatoes it is! It was $12.50-a bit hefty for a sando but worth it given they bake the bread themselves and it comes with a side. We will absolutely be back for more. Love this little place on J street. They have outdoor seating so you can bring your dog and some indoor seating as well. Parking can be a pain, but worth it. How in the world did I not know this place existed?! Perhaps because they do not have a prominent sign or display and merely let their food speak for itself through word-of-mouth. I have driven by this location easily 1000 times and never once knew it was here. I came on the recommendation of a friend for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We arrived right when they opened and I'm glad we did because they already had a stack of phone-in orders and a line out the door. I ordered the bánh mì and a pastrami for my husband. My dad ordered their vegetarian sandwich since it was a Friday during lent. I loved the little cookies that were given to us with each of our sandwiches. The cookies alone were absolutely worth it. As for my sandwich, the bánh mì was a flavor symphony in my mouth. Perfectly grilled, thinly sliced pork on top of the most delicious homemade bread.
