Wow i was so disappointed, first time I visited this olace, maybe about 20 years ago they were one of the best burgers in town, and even about 5 or so years ago they were still fresh and delicious. Feeling a bit of nostalgia and good (since the Falcons win their home e opener) I decided to take my son and friends there post game. Wow was this a major disappointment; let me say service was great, however the food, particularly the burger was horrible. Immediately I noticed something was off as they didnt make a fresh patty for my order but rather reheated an old one, now i dont know about you, but if i spend 15 dollars on a burger I expect it to be fresh not reheated. So upon getting my food, I ask my son (who's 16 and love ALL things burgers) how's your burger... he looked at me and said horrible...it tastes like meatloaf.... After picking my jaw up iff the floor I tasted mine... and Ill be damm... he was spot on... it taste like warm meatloaf with condiments on between a bun.... I cant remember the last time I was this disappointed, especially after dripping 60 dollars for 4 people to have horrible burgers. We were here for the Eagles game, took a risk and ordered a cheesesteak hoagie. Later went back for 3 more. I am still in disbelief , I asked what kind of rolls they use they replied French. Visiting ATL for the week and was walking around to find a place to eat after visiting the Coca Cola Factory,We were looking for Hard Rock but ended up getting tired so when we found this place we decided to try it out. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. The staff was super friendly . One might call this a hole in the wall because of the look but don't let that stop you because the food was great. So great that we made sure we came back a second visit on another day. The food was delicious , friendly staff and a far walk from the Coca Cola Factory and the GA Aquarium. I try to support the small business when I can, so I was actually very excited to give Just Around the Corner their turn to shine. I started with the basics: a cheeseburger with everything on it. All orders seem to come with a side of your choice but I opted for the classic burger/fries combo for today. Everything is made fresh to order which I loved! They use real beef and the buns while they may be store bought were not your average smashed-in-the-bag buns. The gentlemen inside, including who I presume to be the owner and the chefs, we're extremely helpful and kind. The place was also surprisingly well-ventilated. That may not be something that everybody looks for, however its so small inside I actually anticipated coming out smelling like grease (which I did not). The burger was very good and lightly seasoned, and the price was even better. The burger and fries were less than $6 and filled me up just fine even though I'm kind of a small eater. I'll go for the double patty burger next time. I'd say that's a very good deal for a homemade burger. I always thought Just Around the Corner was a trailer on wheels, like an Italian ice mobile, but upon closer inspection today, I realized this is a stationary restaurant. I guess the outdoor awning supported by poles and flimsy glass walls are what gave me the street food impression. Today I moseyed toward the intersection of Spring and Marietta, across from the Glenn Hotel, ducking under the "side porch" and in the door. The staff member who took my order said the Big Daddy Double Cheeseburger and Chikiyaki sandwich are the most popular menu items, but neither of those options sounded appetizing to me, so I chose the Lady Day instead. Two scoops of chicken salad were pressed between two pieces of toasted wheat bread, topped with pickles, iceberg lettuce shreds and fresh tomato. The chicken chunks contained the occasional almond sliver and parsley flake. Instead of $6.21, I think the sandwich was worth $5 at the most. I noticed an ice cream cart with waffle cones shoved in the corner, too. Even though this establishment is just around the corner from my office, I'll walk farther for lunch next time. read more

Street meat! Just Around the Corner is rare for Atlanta, because basically it's a New York bodega on a downtown corner. They somehow make a pretty decent burger and fries. And they make it FAST. The "dining area" is so so small. But the burgers are big and juicy and made with high quality beef. You can watch the proprietors cook your patty to order -- while you try not to crowd the patrons standing behind or in front of you. Soft drinks are self-serve from a fountain -- or bottles from a fridge. Fries come in a brown paper bag. Excellent taste and "crisp factor." I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised that this place got as low reviews as it has. I came to GA from California, and this was probably one of my favorite eateries in the downtown ATL locale. I'll start with the strengths. First of all, the food is fresh and isn't made until you order. The burgers were juicy, hot and fresh, and the vegetables were crisp, not wilted. I like the variety of side dishes that you can get -you aren't locked into fries. I got the potato salad a couple times in my 3 visits there over the week. Everything is cooked very quickly as well. The times I went were in the evening so I generally avoided the lunch rush. As such, they had 3 orders together in about 6-8 minutes. The staff was very friendly, and I felt like a valued customer each time I went. My only qualm is the atmosphere itself. The interior of this place is painstakingly stuffy and small. Just Around the Corner is located a block away east from the CNN Center, just in front of the new Glen Hotel that was built out. It's on the north east corner of Spring Street and Marietta. They serve usual American-style food, albeit tastier versions. They used a different of bread (which, in my old age, I don't remember). It's takes getting used to, but you'll like it. I will say this: get the fries. For some reason, the way they cooked the fries makes them a lot more crispier, making them more delicious. If you hate that or you want something a little more healthier, there is also some other side items (such as pasta salads), that you can get. You can call in your order or come in and order on the corner. That it does get busy during the lunch hour, so it would be best to call in first if you just want it to go. Note that they were having some issues with their credit card machine lately, so pay cash if possible. Overall, it's a recommended hit if you want some good burgers during lunchtime. Shit Show. Stopped in for a quick late night something so that we could just go to bed and avoid the Super Bowl chaos. They had taken poster boards to cover their menu. I get limiting your menu but inflating your prices is just RIDICULOUS. We ordered 2 burgers but wanted them made different ways, we were told "oh no, we're too busy for that, you can take off what you don't want". We ordered 2 bottles of water which they charged $5.50 plus tax for ANYTHING bottled. When we got it out of the cooler it was THE SAMS BRAND (Member's Mark) water which is about $3.88 PER CASE. The food was fine but NEVER AGAIN will we dine or promote this business. Unacceptable. Greed is a terrible disease. read more
