Falafel bowl with rice and lettuce, all veggies and JF special sauce. Lentil soup side. All delicious!
    Adam S.

Good, quality food for under 10 bucks! JF originated in Abu Dhabi, UE and has a food truck/burrito house feel. Choose burrito or bowl, rice or lettuce. Pick your veggies (including hummus), then select your meat (or falafels) and sauce at the end. JF also offers sides, such as soup of the day, falafels, tabouleh, or a side salad. As you choose your sauce, pay special attention to the calories of the sauces, posted on the glass. Note that JF Special Sauce is the least healthy. I normally go with the Tzatziki sauce. One thing that caught my eye is that JF offers "pickled cucumbers" which everyone who ordered called them by that name. Aren't "pickles" actually cucumbers that are pickled? I guess that's the same as calling a hamburger a "steakburger". If you want a great snack, stop by and get some falafels. Excellent! The line gets a bit long at lunch, but expect the workers to get you through as quickly as possible.

    Choose your toppings!

So excited for this healthier addition to One Allen Center. I was warmly greeted and introduced to the ordering process which is similar to Chipotle. #1 Choose your vessel: Wrap or Bowl, if opting for bowl, you then have to choose between carb or not, aka rice or just salad. #2 Choose your protein: Falafel, Chicken, or Beef, (their meat is shaved right off the spit!) *$2.50 for Extra protein #3 How do you want your stuff to taste: If you don't feel like decision making, you can opt for the ORIGINAL getting all the traditional street food toppings OR If you like to pick and choose, see #4. #4 BUILD YOUR OWN: -Choose a Spread: Hummus, Garlic Sauce, Olive Tapenade or Red Pepper Hummus -Choose your toppings: In addition to typical shredded lettuce, tomatoes, slaw mix, jalapeno, roasted corn, char grilled peppers, and onions, JF also offers radish, cucumbers 3 ways (salad, pickled, or plain), and my favorite herbs! Yes, I definitely suggest adding some mint and parsley as they are quite refreshing! *$1 extra you can add avocado and/or feta cheese. -Choose a sauce or dressing: Sauces: Chili, Salsa, Indian, Tahina, Tzatziki, JF Special Dressing: JF Lemon and Honey Mustard *$0.75 for extras Trying to be a bit healthy, I opted for the build your own falafel salad bowl with regular and red pepper hummus and a side of Tahina. I really liked how I was getting all my veggies in and enjoyed the crunch from the chickpea falafel! The falafel was well fried, and I was surprised to find out they use rice bran oil, so yay for no peanut allergies! I felt the falafel had a mild flavor by itself, but paired with some hummus and sauce it was good! Being their first day of opening, I feel like there is still room for improvement but tis the nature of opening a new establishment. They ran out of chicken when I got there an hour to close, but I was lucky to sample a bit and man it was good! The chicken was very tender and had a nice balance of flavor- savory, peppery, and had a nice acidity to it. I will definitely be back to explore more of their menu, and love the concept of Mediterranean food to go!

Just Falafel is located in the downtown tunnel, off Dallas Street. The downtown tunnel is mostly forgotten by anyone who doesn't work downtown, but it has a number of great restaurants. Well, I tell you what... it's well worth the drive in! The first thing you notice as you walk up to order is how clean everything is. This is very important - it shows attention to detail. You can expect that if they put that much attention into keeping the kitchen clean, then they probably put the same care into everything else they do. That puts a smile on my face. What a friendly bunch here at Just Falafel! As I walked in, I was quickly greeted with some big hellos and even bigger smiles. I love this - it can really brighten your day and always adds to the culinary experience! If you have been following me very long, then you know I have an infatuation with salsas, sauces and condiments. Every Mexican restaurant I go to I ask them to build me a salsa flight so I can try all their creations. Well, at Just Falafel I found it only fitting to try all their sauces, too. My off-the-menu Sauce Flight (which I highly recommend) consisted of Sriracha, Tzatziki, Tahina, Garlic, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Spicy Indian, Tomato Salsa, JF Special, Honey Mustard and Ranch served up with a mound of Falafels and hand-cut fries. Ahhmazing is an understatement! All these sauces had a special place in my heart, but my favorites were the Tahina, Tzatziki, Spicy Indian, Garlic and JF Special. You can taste the hard work and passion that is put into every sauce. Loved it! We wanted to get a feel for the whole menu, so we tried a little bit of everything. After the Sauce Flight, we ordered the Original Falafel, Original Lamb Gyro, Chicken Shawarma, Original Beef Shawarma Wrap and the Chicken & Rice bowl - a dish that is perfect for those who are gluten-free. I am a sucker for a Lamb Gyro, so, of course, this gem was a sure favorite. The Original Lamb Gyro was packed and filled with thinly-sliced Lamb, Spring Mix, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cucumber, Pickles and Tzatziki Sauce. We also added a side of Greek Fries. The combination of flavors - along with the house-made Tzatziki Sauce - was like fireworks exploding on every taste bud! Creamy, crunchy and chewy all at the same time. A definite go-to for me here at Just Falafel! The Greek Fries are another one of my favorites here at Just Falafel. I added them as a side, but I have to tell you it is more like an entrée. These hand-cut fries are topped with a mound of Chopped Lamb, Green Onions, Feta Cheese and drizzled with Tzatziki Sauce. I could not put my fork down... it just kept diving back in like a shovel into the mound of greatness! Each bite was better than the last. I like... I like a lot! The Original Chicken Shawarma Wrap is built with Chicken, Cucumber, Pickles, Lettuce, Skin-on Fries and Garlic Sauce. We had it served with Falafels. Take a look at the photography and see for yourself. Incredible! All the vegetables were really fresh and had a nice crunch. The chicken was extremely flavorful and that Garlic Sauce just really put it over the top! At the last minute, I noticed what looked like a couple of tacos being served up to someone at the counter. Hmmmm... interesting. I quickly found out they serve Falafel Tacos here at Just Falafel. Only in Texas - ha! We had to try them for ourselves. The flour tortilla is filled with wonderful Falafel, Natural Cage-free Egg, Tomato and Parsley and drizzled with Tahini Sauce. Not only is this taco perfect for Vegans, but it's also full of flavor. Unique AND tasty! I didn't think my experience at Just Falafel could get any better... and then it did! For dessert, I was served up a Nutella Quesadilla. It's prepared like you would imagine - a Tortilla filled with Nutella and Graham Cracker Crumbles. OMG... another unique and very sweet addition to the menu! Again, letting me know I am in the Lone Star State with this Tex-Mex influence. Not sure it gets much better! Wow! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about my first of many experiences at Just Falafel. This unique style of Mediterranean cuisine in a fast-casual environment is incredible. They really are redefining street food here and my quick culinary vacation to the Middle East via Just Falafel was filled with savory herbs and exotic spices with flavors that I truly love! And for that, I thank you guys.

I could find myself eating here everyday! It's in Allen center food court in the tunnel, so close to work and I love their falafels! They are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I ordered the rice bowl with falafels both times. First time the original, second I did build your own. I will continue to stick with the build my own option. I also LOVE the rice. It's moist and would taste good by itself. Oh, the other thing I'm a fan of; the pickled cucumbers. Get those for sure. It's not a pickle. It's a semi-spicy pickled cucumber. I also got a side of roasted red pepper hummus. I wish they had fresh pita with the hummus instead of pita chips. Just a personal preference. I can't have everything I want and it won't stop me from ordering hummus to snack on mid-day.

Similar to chipotle. The wraps were much smaller but there were more variety of ingredients to pick from. Taste pretty good.

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

Perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior. The sweet potato fries were equally delicious. I got the Hill Country salad. Same tender but crispy chicken on a bed of greens with berries. So good. Definitely bookmarked as a return option.

Established back in 1977, this Greek café has grown from a humble walk‑up window into a full‑fledged neighborhood institution, beloved for its hearty Mediterranean comfort food and lively, come‑as‑you‑are atmosphere. The Montrose location stays bustling from lunch through late night, drawing in everyone from families to night‑owls to longtime regulars who've been coming here for decades. What keeps people returning is simple: the food hits. Diners consistently praise the authentic Greek flavors, especially the gyro plates -- a blend of beef and lamb shaved from the spit, tucked into warm, fresh pita, and finished with cool, garlicky tzatziki. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and the pricing stays reasonable, making it one of the best value spots in the neighborhood. Your gyro arrives stacked, your fries come hot, and your plate feels like it was built by someone who actually wants you to leave full. The menu is huge, but the classics shine brightest. The Greek salad is crisp and refreshing, loaded with feta, olives, tomatoes, and their famous dressing. Service here is fast, friendly, and efficient -- the kind of counter‑style operation where the staff keeps things moving without losing the warmth that makes the place feel welcoming. Guests frequently mention how upbeat and helpful the team is, even during rush hours. The vibe is lively but never chaotic: families grabbing dinner, couples sharing mezze plates, and regulars chatting with staff like old friends. It's casual, energetic, and unmistakably Montrose. One thing that sets Niko Niko's apart is its deep Houston history. The Fetokakis family has run the restaurant for nearly half a century, maintaining a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality that helped the café earn multiple Houston Press awards over the years -- from Best Pork Chops to Best Family‑Owned Restaurant. Even as the city has changed around it, Niko Niko's has stayed true to its roots: hearty food, Greek hospitality, and a community‑driven spirit. Whether you're grabbing a quick gyro, sitting down for a full spread, or stopping by for dessert after a night out, Niko Niko's delivers exactly what a neighborhood staple should: great food, great value, and a welcoming atmosphere. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and the experience feels like Houston -- diverse, warm, and full of character. If you're in Montrose and craving Greek comfort done right, this spot remains one of the city's most reliable pleasures.
