The salad had too many shredded carrots and barely any spring roll. It seemed like 2 small spring rolls chopped up. There may have been 3. There was a lot of salad, but it wasn't worth buying again. Best pho of my life! I don't even live in Athens and I crave it every-time I'm in the mood for pho, but only from here!

The pho I ordered was a delicious, enormous bowl brimming with more kinds of meat than I bothered to identify. My friend ordered a curry dish that was rather bland, and after tasting mine, she immediately wished she ordered pho too. The smoothies we got were delicious (mango & green tea), though I'm not personally a fan of those tapioca balls that get stuck in your straw. The real star-detracting factor for me was the insanely slow service. I was visiting my family in the Athens area and my sister had a coupon for Just Pho. My parents and I had never tried pho and were a little apprehensive, but as it turned out, we didn't need to be. The restaurant was empty when we arrived (5pm on Sunday) with just one server working. She was extremely friendly and provided good service. The egg rolls were delicious, with a great pork flavor. Two of us had the shrimp pho, one had chicken and one had rare beef. All of them were delicious, and the portions were massive! (We each ordered small and I only managed to eat half of my soup.) My dad also ordered the vietnamese coffee, which was great and really different. I am excited to have pho again soon and I am glad I had such a great first experience at Just Pho. read more

Why this place has fewer stars than Yummy Pho is a mystery to me. Authentic, home made, fresh, crunchy, crispy Vietnamese food is right here, and the couple that runs it takes care of their customers. Everything is bursting with flavor and not too sweet. Vegetarian options are much better tasting than so-called Yummy Pho. Yes, I've been to fancier, more inventive Vietnamese restaurants with longer menus, but this place does everything it offers right. 5 stars for Athens, maybe 4 stars if it were New York or BuHi. Good pho but terribly service. I just left and it was ridiculous. The service has been always below par (the owners keep the tips) but I would overlook it because the food was so good. I think my mind has been tipped the other way. I don't think i'll be going back. I had to ask for cutlery, napkins, condiments, my veggie plate, everything. Never did get a water refill and I had to go to the front counter for everything. Probably got out of my seat 5 times to ask for things. Nothing has changed much since my last review. Several recent visits have left me wondering why I even give this place a chance. Every single time I end up waiting close to ten minutes or more for even a glass of water. Several times I'll be seated only to see that customers that came in after me would get their orders before I would. It's just really disappointing that in a town devoid of any quality Asian food that this is what people think good Vietnamese food is. The pho is bland and the banh mis are a mess. I'm not even sure the carrots and daikon are pickled. The bread is not your typical airy, crusty, rice flour baguette for a banh mi. When it comes to the employees, the mom still talks waaay too much with the customers, distracting them from trying to simply enjoy their food. Almost every single time, despite servers messing up my order, I'll pay my check only to be asked, "Did you find everything ok?" as if they weren't the same person that not only messed up my order but I had to ask several times for a simple glass of water. I swear, I don't ask for much. I wouldn't mind the sub-par quality of the food if the service was better but truth is nothing has changed. I'm better off paying extra by ordering through Bulldog Delivery than stepping foot into this restaurant. Save your time and go to Mother Pho. The owners and staff are always on it and the pho is so solid that I rarely ever add any sauce to it. read more

First of all, I'm Asian and part Vietnamese. I've been to several Vietnamese restaurants in Atlanta, and compared to them, this place is HORRIBLE. My girlfriend had never been to a Vietnamese restaurant before, so I wanted to show her what the food was like. I've never been more disappointed or ANGRY at a restaurant. On top of making me not like their food, Just Pho has single-handedly ruined my girlfriend's perception of Vietnamese food. There will be no sugar-coating in this review, I'm going to be completely honest. I ordered what I usually order at Vietnamese restaurants, Pho Tai Bo Vien. Here are the reasons why I am not coming back: 1. ALL, yes ALL, of the noodles were clumped together on the bottom of the bowl. I had to pry the noodles apart with my chopsticks, and in doing so, they ripped apart. Every other pho restaurant I've been to gets this right; the noodles are supposed to be loose. But no, Just Pho screwed up the basics, and I was left with a huge pile of ripped noodles on the bottom of my bowl. Seriously. 2. All of the beef strips were stuck together. Imagine a 6 inch circle of several pieces of beef stuck together in a lukewarm bowl of noodle soup. That was what I had. So, I spent more time ripping the beef strips apart with my chopsticks than actually eating it. 3. The noodle soop was spectacularly mediocre. No distinction, nothing flavorful, and nothing to die for. It got the job done when you're starving, but man, I wish I hadn't gone there tonight. When I go to a pho restaurant, I ALWAYS CRAVE PHO. But here, I had serious buyer's remorse, a sour stomach, and a bland taste in my mouth. 4. The meatballs in the soup weren't even full meatballs. They were strange meats sliced into thin 2cm wide strips... I mean, if you're trying to scrounge on meat for crying out loud...don't charge me $7.99, and I'll understand... otherwise, that's just unacceptable. 5. Very overpriced. I ordered a regular size bowl, which was $7.99, and it was TINY compared to Vietnamese restaurants in Atlanta. My girlfriend ordered Com Tom Nuong for $11.50, which consisted of maybe 4 pieces of shrimp, some lettuce and diced carrots, a small bowl of rice, and one fried egg. Are you kidding me? We also ordered the Goi Cuon (spring rolls) for $3.75. So the bill turned out to be $25, but for the food portions and quality, it was NOT worth it. We were so hungry afterwards that we decided to go to another restaurant to get some dessert after Just Pho. 6. Terrible service. We had 2 waitresses, and they did this trade-off thing, which was very confusing. One waitress cut me off when I asked her questions about the menu, and the other cut me off when ringing me up at the register. Usually when you go into a restaurant, you're supposed to offer the customer drinks to start out; this is basic stuff. But no, the waitress took 10 minutes before she decided to get us drinks. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant while we were there, so being busy was not an issue (otherwise I would totally understand delays). 7. Forget atmosphere. Plain white room lighting, no music, and a register that was only manned half of the time. Do NOT take your loved one on a date here. Ugh...horrible. I really am trying to be honest and nice. It's hard to give any constructive criticism about this place when you screw a wonderful dish up this bad. Maybe they've had bad business for a while...but still...their performance for us was just unacceptable. I guess maybe they're the only Vietnamese restaurant in Athens, so there's no incentive to improve their food. I guess the only thing I mildly enjoyed was the spring rolls (Goi Cuon). But they only gave us 2 for $3.75, so once again, it was overpriced. And I did not enjoy the dipping sauce. I'd suggest eating them plain. My suggestions would be to seriously improve the food quality or decrease the price...because if you didn't work hard on the food, you don't deserve to be paid much for it. Also, I'm guessing many folks on here haven't eaten good pho or have nothing to compare it to in Athens... If you want real Pho, and this is a coming from a Vietnamese person, make the drive to Atlanta and get some real pho at What the Pho or something.... read more

I LOVE Just Pho! We come here at least once a week. The broth is homemade and not overly salty like many places. They have veggie pho that is just as mouth watering as the regular pho. Their noodle and rice dishes are also delicious! I always ask for an extra side of basil for my soup- drooling just thinking about it ;) Highly recommend! read more

A fantastic little find others may miss. I have a friend who's wife is Vietnamese. They have been talking to me about Pho. I am admittedly new to Vietnamese food, but it was a wonderful experience. The owner is a extremely friendly man who helped us choose. He also gave us some guidance on what to expect and suggested many different things. We started with appetizers. We had Vietnamese egg roll with fish sauce and the Vietnamese spring roll with peanut sauce. Both were very tasty. For dinner since we were starving we decided to get both sandwiches and Pho. The sandwiches were wonderful. Crispy bread and spot on sauces. The Pho came to the table. The small is actually quite large. We ended up taking some home. We both really enjoyed our pho. My friend had told me in advance to season to our liking with the bean sprouts, Cilantro, Jalapenos, Lime and mint they leave at the table. Which we did and enjoyed immensely. We also tried on his recommendation the Avocado smoothie (Boba) with tapioca balls at the bottom. We were very surprised at how good it was. The real treat here is the combination of great food with and owner who talks to the customers and is great to interact with. This is a family run business and they really appreciate their customers. The location may cause some to miss the place, but hopefully word of mouth will bring this nice couple lots of business. so I can continue to go there and eat the food. It is very reasonable to. Some friends and I came here after a night out, so all we wanted was some pho. They don't open until noon on Sundays, so if your hangover can't wait, keep sleeping until they open, or find somewhere else to take are of your hangover needs. Had we known it was going to take over half an hour to prepare a bowl of noodles and soup, we probably would have gone somewhere else. Aside from all of the waiting, the pho was okay. I had had this restaurant a few years back and I had not been very good. I've since then returned a couple times and can honestly say that the restaurant has gotten so much better. The pho was delicious and probably the best pho you're likely to get here in Athens. The management was also very friendly. This is my favorite Pho restaurant in town. It is a great place to hang out with my friends after work. We love the Shakin Beef, Taro Boba Smoothies, and Pho Chay. The portions are huge and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing with an art gallery on the walls and an outside garden patio to enjoy. As a recent transplant to the Athens area, I've been working my way down the list of restaurants. I found JP to be an extremely pleasant meal, with a variety of good choices for those that enjoy pho itself and excellent alternative meals like the bahn mi, which at the moment is the best sandwich I've had in the area yet (the chicken, for anyone keeping up). The egg rolls were good, but had we known that the talk of small portion sizes was pure fiction, likely brought on by a few too many trips to the Golden Corral, we would have skipped to the generous pho bowl (small!) and the roughly half-baguette sized sandwich. If there's something to hold against is that on a busy Sunday afternoon the one full waitress and the gentleman who'd come in to pinch hit on occasion were clearly outnumbered by the full tables, and you should expect to wait and get your orders at a steady trickle. Extremely reasonably priced, though, so I can't complain too much, and in the end it's probably one of those things that only stands out because everything else was such a pleasant surprise. As a quick addendum, they do have take-out and delivery, which might end up being the primary way I end up enjoying their food. read more

I've had lots of pho in the past, and I've had eaten in at just pho plenty of times before too, that is until today. I went there today only because yummy pho was closed so I figured I would give just pho a try because it's been so long since I came here. I remembered why I stopped coming. The broth is an insult to the Vietnamese culture and does not do justice. Also the banh mi here was super dry, stale bread, and lacked flavor. On top of that, it took 20 minutes for them to serve us the sandwich, 30 for the pho. I highly recommend pho enthusiasts to drive 5 more minutes to the restaurant yummy pho. The difference is clear. I wasted 14 dollars today I could have eaten at cali and titos instead. read more

I came here with my Vietnamese boyfriend to try pho for the first time. When we arrived the waiter was extremely friendly and walked us through the menu to make me help a good decision(aka what first-timers usually like and don't like). As we started eating, I could tell my boyfriend wasn't really feeling it. He kept saying the it tasted like it was watered down and commented on the fact that it was expensive compared to other pho places. As I continued to eat, I felt that the broth was kind of bland and I had to add things to it so I could finish it. It was definitely different. Would be better if there was less cilantro (a lot less cilantro). Also when you ask for NO jalapeños, would be GREAT if you didn't get them. Be careful with the beef, when they say rare, they actually mean RAW. And it's not kept separate from the veggies. Instead of basil and cilantro, it would be good with snap peas, carrots, etc. The only parts of the soup that could be eaten was the noodles, bean sprouts and meat. Not very filling. read more
