We were unfortunately displeased with our experience with this company. As a customer looking for commercial carpet for our office, I always try to be respectful of my colleagues time and the noise level that goes on during business hours when onsite jobs are performed. The representative at Just Remnants did not take well to the same request for respect of lowering the noise level while working onsite. When I called back to try to reschedule they couldn't shake the bitter taste in their mouths from last time to try again even with new ideas I had suggested. As someone who has worked in the customer service industry for years I was completely dumbfounded with how myself and my colleagues were treated. My husband and I visited Just Remnants today for our first time searching for carpet for a new vacation home. Last weekend, we visited the Home Depot and the number of selections was extremely overwhelming and we left with no decisions made. Today, Dennis greeted us and helped us navigate the store, asked a lot of questions about the property, etc. and was able to successfully guide us to a decision - the customer service was top notch. In fact, it was such a pleasant experience that we left not only with a decision made but with everyone still a "happy camper". I have used them and recommended them without any problems. Staff is great. Recently I helped a good friend, I have done design work for in her business's, pick out hardwood floor for her home. There was a problem with the floor. My friend doesn't speak very good English and asked me to call to make sure Just Remnants understood the problem. When I did, I spoke to the owner, a man. Right off the bat he was defensive and rude. Before he knew much of anything about the problem, had not even seen the floor for himself yet. seemed extremely irritated I was calling to help my friend. i couldn't even talk he was raging so much at one point. After looking on Yelp, I called Just Remnants looking for someone to repair my hardwood floor after a bit of water damage, we removed the damage and my hubby replaced the subfloor now we need the hardwood replaced. I had called several numbers claiming to install hardwood floors, they even use the word "hardwood" in their company name and it just seems that no one wants to work or even take the time to give estimates. Horrible experience. Saw that they had good ratings on Yelp when I needed to re-carpet a staircase. I had already had it measured and had a diagram and pictures. I drive from San Francisco to San Rafael. I find a carpet I like, discuss with Andy, get a price on a business card which says $1050 "all in" - sounds like this is for everything. I bring the sample home to see how it works on the staircase. After reading up on carpet pad, I had some questions about the pad Andy said they used and the fact that they only put the pad on the stair, not the tread. Called him to discuss. OK, I guess I'll go with that. I tell him that I'm heading up to San Rafael to complete the purchase. I'm on my way and get a call from him telling me that the price he quoted me is only for pad and installation. The carpet is extra. What??? Good thing I hadn't gotten to the bridge yet. He quotes me a price that I got from the most expensive carpet store in San Francisco. No thank you. Bad, bad business practices. read more

I went in to find remnent bits of carpet to create a floor for a tipi. An odd errand, but still I wanted to find something sturdy, attractive, and reasonably priced. I have to admit, this was an amazing experience. The owner was friendly, helpful, and totally into helping me find the right sized pieces (no easy task when you're taking different sized rectangle remnents and mapping it to a round floor!). After 20 minutes of hunting around we found the perfect pieces, at a great price. I found a wonderful piece of Marmoleum that is still gorgeous and shows no signs of wear. Then just recently I was shopping for stair carpet. I began by looking at commercial but ended up getting a truly beautiful high end wool piece. It is EXACTLY what I wanted and it adds so much to my home. Last summer I was looking for someone to repair my hardwood floors. To my surprise, "Just Remnants" popped up on the search engine. I skimmed through a long list of reviews, all positive. Most customers wrote about buying carpet and having it installed, but several reported on the installation of new wood flooring, and a few had old floors successfully patched and repaired. Earlier I'd visited several flooring emporiums that featured "floating" floors of "engineered wood": plywood topped with a thin layer of shaved hardwood. They offered the advantage of being prefinished and could be quickly installed over an existing floor, but the wood patterns looked oddly unnatural and I didn't like them. My only choice seemed to be repairing large areas of the old floors--damaged by overflowing pets and planters while covered with wall-to-wall carpets--and then going through the ordeal of having the floors sanded and refinished. Encouraged by the positive reports, I stopped by Just Remnants and discussed my floor problem with Dennis Nichols. He patiently went through all the options, repairing, refinishing, re-carpeting, or a floating floor, and then came up with another possible solution. How about installing new hardwood flooring on top of the old floor? Like a floating floor, it would be pre-finished but made of regular thick hardwood that could be refinished in years to come. Long story short, we had Just Remnants install new hardwood through most of our house. The workmen were quick, personable, and did a wonderful job. Our floors look beautiful and--an added benefit--feel much warmer this winter with two layers of wood underfoot. All this at a price that was more than reasonable--half the cost we encountered at other stores. read more

Their selection is huge and the service is superb. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The professional advice/consultations I received from Olga Skarin were pivotal. She asked the right questions, was forthright and willingly shared her experience as she guided me through what felt to be overwhelming decorating choices. She made sure that what I choose met my needs and that the flooring/baseboards all worked together. In fact, I was happy to rely on her expertise. I like plain, boring beige. The carpet Olga helped me choose took my breath away when it was installed. It is gorgeous! She was right. I was recommended by a friend to go check this place out, and boy was I happy I did. After arriving in the store in San Rafael (they have other sites in Fairfax and somewhere up north) I perused the many isles of potential carpet for my newly bought condo. After having some time to look at what they had I was greeted by Nick. It seemed like perfect timing on his part. Some sales people greet you too early, before you have a chance to even get a feel for what they have, and then there are others where you have to actually seek them out for attention. I don't know if it was his salesman's sixth-sense but he knew when to arrive. I told him what kind of taste me and my wife were looking for in a carpet: we were carpeting upstairs, wanting a very lite color, and we needed it installed in a very short time period. His first question was how many square yards our upstairs was (yards? I didn't even know the exact footage?) . I gave him a very rough estimate and told him I'd have to get back to him. Having told him where I was moving he told me he could swing by our empty condo and get a more exact number... Wow!!! What service and salesmanship skill!!! After picking out a carpet we then went to the underliner. Here is where Nick showed me his knowledge and skills. Me and my wife wanted to go with the cheapest, but Nick was emphatic that spending just a little bit more on a quality (softer, leak resistant) underliner would make a world of difference... Once again he was right. It's amazing the difference in feel and comfort it made.
