Al is the most conscientious contractor that I've worked with. We had an 9-year-old Eternal tankless that started leaking. Al responded to my call for emergent service. He went more than the extra mile by troubleshooting different parts of the old water heater until he exhausted all the repair options. His engineering background came in handy throughout. He truly gave the best effort, went above and beyond. With all the repair options exhausted, we moved to plan b - replacement. Al patiently explained to me the pros and cons of today's leading brands of tankless water heaters. I decided to go with Rinnai. After all the glowing reviews here I called Al. He scheduled a visit by one of his technicians to evaluate my situation and give me a quote. I waited half an hour after the appointment time when the technician had not appeared and called Al. He said he was swamped and could not spare a technician and said he would have called to cancel the appointment but had not gotten around to it! He then told me he was too busy to send anyone in the foreseeable future and suggested I find someone else to install tankless. I asked for a referral and he told me he had no one to recomend. Al seems to be a victim of his own success. If you need a tankless heater look elsewhere, Al has more important things to do. read more

About 10 years ago I had a Takagi water heater installed by my former plumber. The heater never worked right so after about 4 years of frustration monkeying with it I called JustTankless.com. Al came over to take a look and flush the machine which was installed incorrectly without ports for the regular maintenance flush among other issues. He re-installed the heater and it worked for a while but the damage caused to the heater by the faulty initial installation and the subsequent resulting lack of simple annual maintenance doomed the heater a few months later. During the time Al was working on the heater I was interested and asked a lot of questions and he was very patient and I got a great education about water heaters in general but especially about tankless water heaters. It was clear to me that Al understands these things at a deep level and is truly an expert and all around intelligent man. I decided to replace the Takagi because it was so damaged and the water temperature fluctuated to the frustration of my entire family. I called Al and told him to do whatever is necessary to install a new unit. He suggested the Noritz based on my house and my water usage and my goals. He was able to re-use a lot of the plumbing to save money. He even showed me how to hook up a hose to the cleanout ports so I could use the hot water in my pressure washer to steam clean my driveway. I have learned the expensive lesson that it is essential that an expert install a tankless water heater. My new tankless hot water heater (installed by someone else) stopped working late on a Sunday. It was beeping loudly and giving an error code. I called the manufacturer and they gave me the number to Just Tankless. Wow. Just got off the phone with Just Tankless, Al. I purchased a Rennai tankless and asked them to install it. Al would not install a product they did not sell to me. Oh, ok. I guess they wanted to extract there pound of flesh on the sale of the item. Al said there would be a problem if the unit needed any warranty service, implying the warranty would be void. When I tried to explain how warranties work and it cannot be effected because they install the unit I realized all he was doing was fishing for a reason to decline the job. Let me preface this by saying that I do not believe there is such a thing as a perfect 5-star experience when it comes to major home repairs or remodeling. In other words, something always goes wrong. The real question is, what happens when something does go wrong - do they make it right? Or do they become passive aggressive and walk away? Found them through the Noritz site after our 4 year old unit started throwing the "internal leak" error code. Contacted via email with the basics and was surprised to hear back they'd order the warranted part and would be able to install the next week. Came back a day after the part arrived and it was clear he knows his stuff. A little over an hour later the unit is repaired, descaled, and working perfectly again. Was having issues with a four year old Navian WH and had guest at my house. Called Al at 5:30 on a Sunday night and expected to set an appointment during the week. Lo and behold, he was at my door 20 minutes later (I know, I got lucky, but still...it was Sunday night 30 min before his posted hours ended!). Checked out my WH and gave me the straight scoop. Likely not problem with the WH, but with one or more single arm valves in my house (e.g shower) in which the mixing cartridge or valves are failing. Gave me the skinny on how to diagnose myself so he didn't have to charge me for that piece. Also pointed out some points of incorrect installation and walked me through the repair. Then, took him out to my garage to an older Bosch AquaStar tankless that hasn't worked in 4 years. He told me he could fix it, but I would be better off taking it out to pasture and installing a point-of-service WH for my slop sink instead. I had an older Takagi tankless water heater that stopped working this Saturday. On Sunday I wanted to see if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. I called Al at Just Tankless and while he did not service my area he walked me through a couple of things I could do to try to repair it. One was to clean a sensor. It didn't initially work and I called him back and offered to pay more than his usual service call fee but he said he would essentially do the things I've already tried. I found this very honest and very much appreciated this honesty. I went back and cleaned the sensor a bit more as I wasn't going to be able to have hot water until Monday anyway. After a bit more cleaning, bingo!...it worked! I cannot express enough as to how grateful I am for honest and knowledgeable assistance for which Al did without any compensation! I had a very old water heater and boiler (for radiant heating) in my eichler house, and wanted to get it replaced with something more efficient. I called a couple of folks, including Just Tankless. The first thing was that Al (owner of Just Tankless) himself picked up the phone. The others were 'middlemen' who would then forward my call to some other plumber who would then schedule an appointment to do the job. Al happened to be in the neighborhood, so he came over for an estimate in a few hours. He answered most of my questions then, and gave me an estimate right there. If someone is a professional and installs water heaters for a living, I would expect them to know the prices at the top of their mind. I had a couple of followup phone calls and emails exchanged to clarify some doubts that I had, and I finally scheduled them to come and replace the heaters with new ones. They scheduled the installation on a weekend (which was great as I am home). Al came with another guy and they basically replaced 2 old heaters with 2 new ones in a day. The contractor who did the installation sort of messed up the new tankless water heater and we could only have 5 minutes of hot water before it shut itself off. My tankless water heater (AO Smith) broke and needed to be replaced. It was unfortunately not covered under warranty. I got quotes from three different places for replacement. The last one was Al, who gave a reasonable quote, came the next day (on time), and installed a Rinnai unit that works great! Nice guy and knowledgeable. Did not try and up sell me like the prior water heater guys. I know nothing about plumbing, so I think the other plumbers tried to take advantage of that. Although many buttons on their site did not work at all, I contacted this company to get a price quote for a tankless water heater for my home. The person who called me back, and who told me that he was the owner of the company was not willing to come to my house to assess the particular situation of my home. He said, "Leave it up to me. I will install what is appropriate for your home. You can trust me". No matter what I said, he would not listen to my feedback or any of my questions. He said that I would have no input in the matter at all, and that he would decide what was best for me. He gave me a quote over the phone without ever having seen the layout of my utility room, venting options, number of bathrooms, etc. I have learned, that when anybody tells me "You can trust me.", to take my money and run. Especially from somebody who is not even willing to meet me in advance and give me a written price quote. I will not hire Just Tankless to install a tankless water heater in my home. read more

We called Just Tankless to look at our water heater, which was not producing enough hot water for our shower. Al came out to look at it and he was nice and knowledgable and advised us to get a new water heater. However, when we called and emailed (twice) him, we got no response back. We waited a week in case he had some kind of emergency, but still no response. During this time, we canceled another appt. with a second company because we thought he would get it done for us. We used Just Tankless to replace/upgrade our old Rinnai tankless water heater. Everything went smoothly - very responsive on setting up initial visit and providing quote, clearly explained and answered all our questions, and installation itself was done quickly with no issues. We were very happy with the overall experience. What happened next, however, is what inspired me to write this review... Shortly after the installation, we found the water temperature in our showers was sometimes lukewarm rather than hot. Suspecting the water heater, we called Al to help us figure out what might be wrong. Al was able to quickly help us determine that the problem was not the water heater, but rather a cross leak somewhere else in our system (cold water getting mixed into the hot water line). Even though the water heater was not at fault, Al was super patient in walking us through several tests, making sure we performed them correctly, and then explaining them clearly till we understood what they each showed. Our leak is now fixed and our showers are hot again. It is truly wonderful to work with someone who not only does a good job, but is also patient and customer focused. Al did a great job on my Eternal Hybrid. The unit is 3 years old and has been giving me an error code indicative of a failed mixing valve. The issue with hybrid water units is that very few plumbers know how to service them. I struggled to find a knowledgeable person and thought I did in December when some one came out and serviced the unit fixing the issue. The issue recurred twice since and the the contractor I used for initial installation and his plumber , recommended I replace the entire unit. Nice, a $3000 price hit on a 3 year old product. What led me to Just Tankless is a Google search on the unit my contractor suggested I get instead. I had a very nice conversation with Al who recommended against the other brand (which he also carries) and suggested he come out and diagnose. Al came out, disassembled the parts to find where the failure occurred. A more thorough approach than reading an error code and replacing a suspect part. He advised the part was under warranty but would take 4-5 days to arrive . He said he'd check his depot since most of the innards of water heaters share parts. Indeed, he called a few hours later and came out and fixed the problem. It has only been 2 days, but I feel confident that Al did the right repair. My only reason for not giving Just Tankless 5 stars is the price. I think Al recognizes that his skill is hard to find and charges accordingly. Before you purchase , replace or repair your Tankless water heater, have a conversation with Al. Expect to pay handsomely for his service. I'm a year late writing this review, but was reminded of the outstanding work by Just Tankless when I turned on my heating system this fall and everything cranked up perfectly after a long summer nap. Al replaced an overworked Lennox Complete Heat system last fall with separate tankless water heaters for domestic and comfort heating. This was a complicated project separating the systems and tuning them each properly. Al returned a couple times at his insistence until everything was just right. Outstanding job! Al was absolutely fantastic in explaining the differences between tank/tankless hot water heaters. He came and talked with my family for about an hour about the differences. I decided to have one installed.What I loved about Al was that he is licensed in all the areas needed to install this unit: electrical, plumbing and general contracting. He was professional and handled everything from a to z. He even installed a smoke detector in my basement because that's code and registered my unit for me to activate the warranty. It's hard to find people this thorough but when I do, I value you it. It's been six weeks and I love it! My showers are consistently hot for as long as I want; this is exactly what I wanted. Had an error code on my Noritz tankless water heater. Heater is 13-yrs old, but meticulously maintained, at least that's what we've paid for over the years. Called plumbing company that installed and serviced. They contacted Noritz and within 5-minutes these brainiacs decided I had a failed circuit board. New board WOULD BE $250, except they don't make it anymore, so now they want me to replace the entire heater. I spoke with Noritz directly and everyone involved was happy to conclude that I needed to spend over $4,000 replacing and re-plumbing my installation. I told them I wasn't ready to accept that result. I then called Just Tankless and spoke with Al about my situation. After listening closely to my experience, Al says "Those board almost never fail, unless they've gotten wet." He says "Did the plumber bring a compressor in to service your system?" To which I reply "No". Al says "Your burner is dirty." I'm a pretty handy guy and not afraid to work on things myself. Al then proceeds to direct me to the online video about how REAL maintenance and cleaning is supposed to be performed, using compressed air to clean the burner assembly and I did the work myself. He then offered to work with me for the best solution if I actually do need to replace the system. A week in, and no error code, system is working great. Hoping not to jinx it, but I think Al was absolutely correct. Also hoping I get the 25-30-years you're supposed to get from these systems. I had JustTankless install a Quietside heater. He was awesome, good price, good service, just nice guy overall. Will use him again as soon as my vacation home heater dies. This has been my 2nd tankless unit. First time around, I paid 5x more money for a crappy, high-maintenance one. I am very happy with his recommendation. The reason I am writing this review is because I was just mailing him about a neighbor who had the same unit installed, and clicked on yelp link at the bottom of his email. To my suprise, JustTankless was rated 1 star? What the .... There was one bad review, and 12 hidden good ones. Looks like Yelp is turning into an extortion racket. My situation: I had purchased a house 7 years ago that had a Tankless water heater (located in a closet in the kitchen). The heater stopped working (10 years old) so I called a number of local plumbers who claimed experience working with my brand of water heater. A plumber came out and found the problem and got the unit working temporarily. Great, but to fix the unit, the price would be very expensive (over $1200). I went looking for a new unit then, got multiple quotes, from various vendors with different brands. Each person wanted to do something very different: one wanted to place the unit outside, one wanted to run all new piping, one wanted to run a new gas line (so that the unit would have its own dedicated gas line). (High end quote was over $5000!) I guess these were all valid opinions, but all I wanted was a new unit installed. Al from Just Tankless listened to my situation, gave me a number of options, and then allowed me to email a picture of my current install so that he could generate a quote for EXACTLY what I wanted. His price was the best BY FAR the best, and barely more than the cost to repair my old unit). We scheduled the install, they showed up on time, and had the new unit installed in 30 min. Even threw in the remote control unit. I could not be happier, the new unit is smaller, works faster, and is more energy efficient than my old one. Al spent as much time as needed answering all my questions, talking me though how to keep the unit working perfectly, and I know they would be there in the future if I ever have any questions. I would recommend Just Tankless for anyone considering moving to a Tankless, or needing a replacement Tankless water heater. read more
