So creative! After a Yelp Elite event that was slim on food and drink, we wandered over to this cute bakery. They had churro cheesecake, which was the combination of two amazing desserts. They also feature vegan cookies and a nice selection of panderia. Service is fast and friendly.

Local bakery known among the college students across the street. It has a homey feel to it. Small location but it has seating indoors and out, just enough to drink a cafe and eat a pastry. I ordered a Caramel empanada and a churro cheesecake to be shared with family. The staff was nice and attentive. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Service was fast and attentive. Very welcoming. Bomb food and drink! The portions are pretty big so that was good. Ingredients are fresh! will be coming back.

Came here twice before on semi-crowded days. Service was quick and they had a variety of different cake flavors for you to pick from. The interior of the shop is also very pretty and there's a nice backdrop for photos, and the staff members were friendly. I tried the Coffee Tres Leches cake and the Red Velvet cake. Please keep in mind that the Tres Leches cakes come with milk inside of the box so try not to tilt it too much or else you might accidentally spill some like I did. Both cakes were exceptionally good, not too dry, though I did like the Tres Leches cake more due to the addition of the milk that made it less dry. There's also indoor and outdoor seating, though the indoor one is a bit limited. I would be willing to come back here just to get another Coffee Tres Leches cake or try out one of their other cakes or drinks.

    Tiramisu

The tiramisu was really terrible. It was dry. Save your money and get your cake elsewhere. Definitely won't go back.

3.5 stars overall, but rounding up for very reasonably priced desserts and to support a local business! K&J Sweets & Bakery opened recently on the E San Carlos Street side of Downtown San Jose. They weren't busy at 11:30am on a Tuesday, and still had a good assortment of desserts and pastries to choose from (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=DvZ7swr5BkN5w-VeUVyo6g&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg). I ended up trying: -Chocoflan ($5, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=TbA1gx0X8mgM24iaQfKtMw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Solid chocoflan, and I liked how creamy and smooth the flan layer was. The flan had good body to it, and was solid without being overly dense, and paired well with the chocolate cake. -Vanilla Tres Leches ($5, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oO54jWjoA8XYjA7k8BRFng&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Good, but the cake was more of a spongy texture, and I prefer my tres leche cakes with a firmer texture. I would come back if in the area to try their cupcakes and pastries. They had both indoor and outdoor seating options available, as well as hand sanitizer. Parking was ok to find at the time since there were some street parking spots; however, all spots are metered.

Sadly don't have any pictures of the food but their conchas and tamales are to die for! The service is always fantastic and the vibe is incredibly adorable! Their food is heavily affordable and they even offer student discount for SJSU students! Definitely becoming a regular at this point...

I had them make a customized cake and it was originally quoted for $45 but that was crazy since it was only for two people. After explaining the size I wanted she agreed to sell it for $25 which I'm glad she did because the decorations were very bland. Nothing of which I asked for (exterior wise) but the inside was perfect. The taste wasn't so bad it just tasted a little soggy. The penmanship was very bad you can barely tell what it was saying.

I thought this place looked familiar... it used to be a cinnamon roll place. I got vanilla tres leches cake, red velvet cake, chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookie, sugar cinnamon cookie, strawberry Matcha drink. The drink gets a two stars because it tasted very bitter. It left a bad aftertaste and tasted like I was eating chalk. Vanilla Tres leches cake was not good. It was extremely dry and sour . Red velvet was moist but salty. Was ok. Chocolate cake was tasty with light frosting and a fudge filling; nice and moist! The cookie were both very good, nice n soft.

    Pineapple filling empanada

Stopped by to grab a quick bite. The staff members are very friendly and helped us with recommendations. I got the empanada that one of the staff members personally enjoys, the pineapple-filling empanada. The texture reminds me of shortbread and the filling is florescent yellow. My friend got a cinnamon roll which the staff warmed up before placing it in a take-out box. They have a nicely decorated interior and a backdrop for photos. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

    Best tamales ever!!!

I moved upstairs from this place months ago, and I finally got the opportunity to try it twice, I went in and picked up a piece of carrot cake and I was so excited. Everything looks so good when I went to the counter to pay I saw there was some cookies so I got a red velvet chocolate chip and the third cookie was snickerdoodle. I got home taste of the cake realized it's not a classic carrot cake it has Some kind of butter frosting and the cake was pretty firm and dense so I thought maybe because it was refrigerated so I left it on the counter and tried it the next morning dry dry, dry never mind the fact that again the frosting with butter frosting of some sort, pretty savory Not only was it not cream cheese frosting that I was expecting, but it was just not good tasting. Then I had the cookies while me and my friend had a piece of each one just to taste them and we did not like them. We threw them in the trash a different day me and my friend went to get the breakfast burrito and Tamales unfortunately the cookie case does not say that those cookies were vegan no wonder I didn't like them. I just noticed it when I was looking at the breakfast menu not sure why they don't have a sign that states that they are vegan right on the case at the register because It's kind of like an impulse by you didn't come in for it but since it's right at the register and they look delicious you wanna try it but for somebody who is not vegan like Myself had a different expectation that was not met so for me it was just a waste of money. I was very excited about the tamale. I buy them everywhere. I love them. I have a favorite and let me just tell you this was by far the worst most disgusting tamale I've ever ever had. I don't know who makes some if they're frozen or what the situation is, but they are disgusting. The sauce is covering the meat, but once I got into meat that didn't have sauce the meat looked gray. It did not look like real meat. It was not appetizing and again another item that I just threw in the trash so I haven't had their coffee yet I'm hesitant. I probably won't go back there ever again and I probably will not try the coffee unfortunately because I don't wanna yet again to waste money. I really really really wanted to love this place. I have a guy that I've been buying Tamales from 4 many many years you guys should look him up on social media and purchase Tamales from him. Best tamales I've ever had in my life. His name is Sergio.

Ordered a heart cake and it came out great! Sent in a inspo pic and she didn't disappoint amazing work

They're best known for their famous Burnt Almond Cake, though they also offer a variety of other pastries. Personally, I come here just for the cake. They sell it by the slice or cupcakes, and they also have whole cakes ready to go. If you're looking for a custom cake, though, be sure to place your order in advance. Whenever I'm in the area, I always stop by to pick up a few cakes to bring home for my family, but I can probably eat a whole cake to myself lol. Their prices are still surprisingly reasonable, which makes it even more worth the trip.

We ended up getting three burnt almond cake slices (2 vanilla 1 chocolate) and some brownies. The brownies were pretty good, balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet and I enjoyed the walnuts, but it was a very fudge like texture and I prefer my brownies to be slightly more cake-y and airy. If you like fudge brownies you'd like these. My issue was the burnt almond cake, both vanilla slices were on the dry side. The chocolate slice had a hint of chocolate otherwise tasted exactly the same. The almonds and cream were fine, I would've preferred stronger almond flavor. Was meh. Price is good at $5 for a hefty slice. If I'm in the area maybe I'd go back, otherwise it was about the same as a Safeway cake slice.

We didn't go overly sweet because it was the morning, but I would love to come back in the afternoon to have a nice sweet treat and a cappuccino. For my family of three we definitely got over excited in order too much, but each bite was delicious. We got a leek quiche, a banana latte, spinach, artichoke danish, mango croissant, almond croissant, and a ham and cheese croissant. I was trying to increase the protein to not spike my blood sugar. Lol. I'd have to say the mango and the almond croissant were probably my favorite. The strong second would definitely be the artichoke and spinach croissant danish thing. Sorry, I forgot what they called it. They offered to heat it up a bit and I definitely recommend this. They did the perfect temperature for the perfect timing. Just enough to make the outside flaky and the inside warm and soft. The pieces that had cheeses were so much better warmed up. They definitely know what they're doing there. Seating was great. I'd love the decor. You can also order off of a menu, but we were too enamored with the actual pastries to even glance at it. I took photos but made sure to not take photos of the staff. I let the staff know that I wouldn't include their faces without their permission. they were very friendly and very appreciative. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.

There was strong scent of matcha coming from the top drip design and we couldn't be more excited for our matcha bae. Fast Forward: The cake is super soft, fluffy, and oh so very light.
