The interior of the shop is also very pretty and there's a nice backdrop for photos, and the staff members were friendly. I tried the Coffee Tres Leches cake and the Red Velvet cake. Please keep in mind that the Tres Leches cakes come with milk inside of the box so try not to tilt it too much or else you might accidentally spill some like I did. Both cakes were exceptionally good, not too dry, though I did like the Tres Leches cake more due to the addition of the milk that made it less dry. There's also indoor and outdoor seating, though the indoor one is a bit limited. I had them make a customized cake and it was originally quoted for $45 but that was crazy since it was only for two people. After explaining the size I wanted she agreed to sell it for $25 which I'm glad she did because the decorations were very bland. I got vanilla tres leches cake, red velvet cake, chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookie, sugar cinnamon cookie, strawberry Matcha drink. The drink gets a two stars because it tasted very bitter. Stopped by to grab a quick bite. The staff members are very friendly and helped us with recommendations. I got the empanada that one of the staff members personally enjoys, the pineapple-filling empanada. The texture reminds me of shortbread and the filling is florescent yellow. The decorations and all looked great. Very cute cafe that gives 10% (?) off for students at SJSU (present your card). The desserts and pastries looked good, but I got the breakfast croissant. It came with egg, sausage, cheese, mayonnaise. Lettuce, jalapeños, and tomatoes as garnish. It wasn't bad, but it wouldve been great to know that it came with mayonnaise (wasnt shown in menu) since I dont like it. I also got a mocha latte and asked for it hot, but got it cold. I moved upstairs from this place months ago, and I finally got the opportunity to try it twice, I went in and picked up a piece of carrot cake and I was so excited. Everything looks so good when I went to the counter to pay I saw there was some cookies so I got a red velvet chocolate chip and the third cookie was snickerdoodle. Then I had the cookies while me and my friend had a piece of each one just to taste them and we did not like them. We threw them in the trash a different day me and my friend went to get the breakfast burrito and Tamales unfortunately the cookie case does not say that those cookies were vegan no wonder I didn't like them. I just noticed it when I was looking at the breakfast menu not sure why they don't have a sign that states that they are vegan right on the case at the register because It's kind of like an impulse by you didn't come in for it but since it's right at the register and they look delicious you wanna try it but for somebody who is not vegan like Myself had a different expectation that was not met so for me it was just a waste of money. I was very excited about the tamale. I buy them everywhere. I love them. I have a favorite and let me just tell you this was by far the worst most disgusting tamale I've ever ever had. I don't know who makes some if they're frozen or what the situation is, but they are disgusting. The sauce is covering the meat, but once I got into meat that didn't have sauce the meat looked gray. It did not look like real meat. It was not appetizing and again another item that I just threw in the trash so I haven't had their coffee yet I'm hesitant. I probably won't go back there ever again and I probably will not try the coffee unfortunately because I don't wanna yet again to waste money. I really really really wanted to love this place. I tried the mocha tres leches and it was delicious, it wasn't overly sweet and perfectly moist, sometimes I find tres leches can be too dry but this was perfect. I'm lucky to have a little bake shop right downstairs from my apartment. I first stopped in to support a local business, and I've keep coming back because everything they make is delicious and the people are truly wonderful. My go-to order is a BLT and a chocolate chip cookie, and I stop by at least once a week. I've also tried their churro cheesecake, their empanadas, and their tres leches cake, and I haven't had anything I didn't like. Everything has been excellent. When this spot opened and replaced the previous pastry shop I was so excited. I thought there specialty was cup cakes, but when I finally walking in the doors I realized this wasn't going to be what I expected. The cup cakes themselves were to firm to stiff to hard to fry. Cup cakes should bounce and be spongy and sweet. The ball dropped hard here and it exploded. The whip cream icing was the same basic one on all four that I ordered even though they were four different varieties. The good news I guess is they have an entire other menu of sweets for tooth. For an extra dollar, you can get it prepared with sauce. The tamales were a good size with lots of meat!! The masa was light, fluffy, and seasoned well. Very nice service! We went for cinnamon rolls but they were out. The brownies are super chocolate and good, I'm not a big chocolate person but if you are you'll like them. I just had my wedding this weekend and I didn't want to do a traditional wedding cake. I asked them if they can do a huge decorated concha with a few mini pan dulces and they did just that! They were delicious!! Everyone cleared out that dessert table as soon as it was announced that it was opened. I've already had a few guests ask where I got the bread from because it was that good.
