Penny's service was exceptional. Restaurant was clean. The salad wagon had chilled plates for the salad. It also had soup and corn bread. Their complimentary dinner rolls came with regular and cinnamon butter. The Caliente chicken fried steak was crispy without making the steak dry. We also got a side of okra and mashed potatoes. Our waitress, Evangelina, was the nicest, most attentive waitress we've ever had. We mentioned we were starving and she brought rolls right over to us. She also suggested dipping the broccoli I ordered in their garlic butter. It was so good! First off...K-Bob's was so named because of the shishkabobs they made. No more. Not on the menu. Bit of a drive from the southside to find this out. So, the ribeye burger I got and the smothered hamburger steak my wife got were "because we made the trip" and were hungry. My burger was decent, but a little undercooked. The fries were very good. My wife didn't think her selection was good and didn't care for the mashed potatoes. Our waitress had the sniffles which made us think we might be enjoying a cold later. Price for what we ordered was a little steep. We came for ka-bobs. They're not on the menu anymore. We can get the same food otherwise without the drive. read more

Clean restaurant, private parking, friendly but slow service during non-peak hours (maybe three tables seated). The positive is a great salad wagon with plenty of choices and a really good ranch dressing. Super clean and stocked well. The negative is a mediocre steak. We ordered the rodeo cut ribeye, medium rare. We both got well done. I don't like sending food back after a long wait, if it's edible. It was edible but really lacked seasoning as well as being way over cooked. Green beans were good but also could've used some seasoning. I'm giving three stars due to the cleanliness, friendliness, and the good salad bar. I'd definitely return for just that part, but I'll just make my steaks at home from now on. read more

While visiting K-Bobs on a Friday night visit to the Corpus area, my table ordered two chicken fried chickens, the sliders, fried pickles, and a steak. We all also ordered the salad wagon, which was an additional $4. I would recommend the salad wagon. It had a variety of lettuce, a ton of toppings, and some dessert and fruit as well. Everything seemed chilled and fresh. The chicken fried chicken was pretty good. The loaded baked potatoes were delicious. Fried pickles-yum! The only issue we came across was our service. The waitress seemed to be preoccupied. Had she been more personable, I think the entire experience would have been at least 4 stars. read more

Staff is rude and keep dropping and clanging everything. The medium-rare steak was medium-well with almost no pink and charbroiled on the outside making it hard to cut. The asparagus and chicken fried steak were charbroiled as well. I e never had a chicken fried steak where the meat was burnt. Even the baked sweet potato was charred on the outside. Ironically the steamed broccoli was raw. I also had to go through 3 sets of silverware to find a clean set. What can I say, food is pretty good but the servers have an attitude. It's my second time visiting and both times servers gave us an attitude when asked for status on food or refill on drinks. I think they may be understaffed or they need to work in a different industry. The salad bar was oh so pretty but the lady chef placed gloves on, wiped the salad bar clean & then with same gloves touched all the tongs to continue cleaning food that didn't belong. Then of course everyone comes right behind her and touches the same tongs with bare hands. Just unsanitary. People are watching especially during these times. Great location & food! I remember eating here years back when they were located by Highway 77 and there food was good tasting, it seems times have changed I mean it ain't bad but it does lack something. I have to admit we have not been to this K-Bobs in a couple of years because the food and service was "Lacking" to say the least! It's been a while and we love to support local businesses so we decided to give it another try. It's difficult for us to revisit a restaurant after bad food or service because we are a family of six and outings get pricey! Tonight though was A HUGE relief of GREAT service by Johnny and GREAT food! We had to ask what the difference was from two years ago... apparently there is new management and cooks. Well what a difference two years has made! It was well worth another shot! The value for the quality of food and service is definitely deserving of this shout out! The service was fast and the restaurant was clean! I encourage anyone who hasn't visited in a while to revisit K-Bobs and give it another shot! P.S. I've heard so many good things about this place which is why my husband and I were excited to try it. My parents raved about it after they visited last month. When you walk in it looks like your ordinary steakhouse. They have a cool salad wagon buffet bar, which was might I add, was really good. We ordered Sweet Tea which was delicious. I ordered the Campfire Steak and my husband the Super Spud. Although my steak was tender, it tasted super weird. I am assuming it was the spices mixed with the char on the outside because without the outside it was fine. Did not fancy it at all. The Super Spud was ordered with steak on top. The steak was very stringy and tasted like peppered beef jerky. Service was good, but we won't be returning unfortunately:( read more

Drove 2 1/2 hours to take my mom to lunch at one of our favorite places to eat and had the worst experience ever. Ordered appetizers, salad wagon and my steak, and when I went to the salad wagon it was pretty much empty- no soup -no croutons. So after telling three or four employees walking by I ask for the manager "Jessica" which seemed overwhelmed with her job description. When I voiced my opinion that I had been waiting 15 minutes to get my salad I asked her to please remove it for my ticket because my appetizers and food had already gotten delivered to my table. She had an "I don't care attitude" "too bad answer" and I don't recommend going to this restaurant again I have been going to KBobs since I was in my teens at the first location and when they moved it to 624 location continued to come with my family . That will be my last time going to this restaurant. Poor service. Next time I drive into town I'm definitely going to A-1 steakhouse, right now the street- It's cleaner, food Is great and definitely worth paying $80 for a lunch vs KBobs. We sat down near the salad bar, we ordered appetizers and I ordered the Ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection, best steak in the area. I am so pissed off at this place. 6 of us go eat here, 5 of us get our food EXCEPT my 80 y/o father. When asked where his food is, they all stand around with blank faces. It's not getting better, just progressively worse. A year or so ago, a new owner took over. My wife and I happened to dine in when he was walking around, working the floor and introducing himself. He also mentioned he was going to really plus it up there, ensure it would get a lot better than it had been. I can't remember if we've been back up until eating there this past weekend, but if we had it wasn't memorable. This past Saturday, it was only memorable for being about the 4th out of 5 visits that were just... sad. From the waitress that placed my son's burger order as "just a patty" to the 'ol hair in the appetizer trick, it just sucked. The manager on duty did a good job trying to make up for it, however, having to pay for a meal that was just garbage is the unfortunate part here. The other things about K-Bob's that will keep me from ever going back are the stupid prices on their "legendary" (please....) salad bar. They charge $3 just to visit the damn thing and then something like $9 to have "unlimited salad bar visits." Are you kidding me? What century is this? I keep telling my wife we need to open a place, after all the countless bad experiences I've had with local places I know exactly what not to do. 1. Don't cheat your customers. 2. Make great food. 3.
