Absolute terrible service and communication. Baba (owner) was smoking cigarettes while working on my engine. I went in for a gasket replacement and engine flush. He added on a cabin air filter replacement without asking and got charged. As I was driving back home, my car shuts down on the freeway and almost get into multiple accidents. Baba explains to me that engines are like a hip, "you never know when it's going to happen, you fall one day and your hip is broken. Just like an engine". After the freeway incident, I drove back for them to inspect it and they found metal on the camshaft. Never been an issue before and my car has never spontaneously shut down. His assistant, at the end, recommends me to get a new car. They never once apologized or offered to fix it. Never will recommend this place. read more

Worst experience with K brothers. Let's just say I echo what the other 1 star reviews on Yelp suggest as I learned they are condescending, arrogant and rude. Will never use them again or refer. Wouldn't waste more than 3 minutes time with them. If you had consistent good service consider yourself lucky. I brought multiple cars for service and always spoke highly of them till I received the worst customer service and blatant disrespect. I knew what needed to get fixed. I was told by Bill "they know what's best because they are the mechanic." Point well taken, I entrusted them to do what needed to get done in their expertise. I paid for and picked up my car only to find out what they told me 'didnt need to be done,' in fact was a problem that got worse since driving it. Since I entrusted them to do all service needed on my car that I communicated about, I called Bill to let him know and he told me to bring it back to have a look at the car again. I had to take a day off and tow my car to them. I knew what the cost of the part was since day 1 - so when I received Bill's quote and realized they wanted to charge me 3x that, I asked for some understanding since I was already there 2 weeks prior when he ignored my suggestion to fix what I knew needed to be fixed. K Brothers didn't want to consider this and persisted that I spend more $$ than what was in my budget. The father handed the phone over to the son Bill who started yelling and projecting a raucous tone and temper. I asked him politely not to yell at me, and explained time is valuable and I had been very cool, fair, patient and understanding. I did not want to spend 3 x the amount, and noted that he is now placed on a recorded line due to the tone he used with me He didn't seem to care and continued to badger and belittle me, he said "he was not going to put the other part in if I brought it and purchased from an auto store, and he can't warranty," I understood about the warranty...but the attitude and tone was unnecessary. He said "I could use a credit card to pay his price or come get my car." I felt manipulated. When I asked for a moment to think about what I can afford and call them back, the phone was slammed on me and the line went blank. I sent a tow back to get my car and bring to the dealer whom I trust, that also diagnosed a valve was open which was causing the leak and would have continued to cause a leak onto any new parts put in. I have peace. Note: Audacity is at an all time high. K Brothers chose a course that's needs to be noted in review. I don't place reviews often but this was flat out necessary to share. As a consumer reading this, I hope you are never met with that kind of service, disappointment or disrespect from anyone. Use your discretion. I noticed some oil leaking and was having trouble turning my key so I took my car to the ford dealership for an estimate. The estimate I received from the dealer was worth more than my car. I heard about K Brothers from a friend and figured I would stop by. They fixed both problems and even buffed out some scratches for less than a third of the price of the dealership. The Brothers were very courteous and fun to talk to. They have been in the industry since the 60's and 70's and were very knowledgeable.They explained everything they needed to do for the repairs and educated me while they were working on the car. I had them repair body work on my car. They performed it at a really good rate when I told them I was going to pay them directly because I was hit by an uninsured motorist. They were not the friendliest of folks, but I got a good service for a good value. I am willing to put up with a gruff attitutude if it is going to save me several hundred dollars. read more

WARNING! You can be easily cheated here! A few days ago we took our Mercedes to K Brothers because it did not pass the smog check (at Just Smogs just up the block). K Brothers charged us $60.00 to check it , then $50.00 to do adjustments to pass smog (which it later did). THEN, they kept the car for two days afterwards saying that it had a worse problem, possibly needing a new fuel distribution (big part that runs at least $1500.00) We came here because we had good service a few years ago for $60.00. We got fed up and just went to pick up the car in this hole in the wall place (Very dangerous to exit!) The car runs perfectly.To top it off, on the receipt it says that we asked for the check on the fuel distribution!! How do these mechanics stay in business legally? We will NOT EVER go again to these robber mechanics! read more

For some reason I'm convinced that maybe he went next door to one of the other shops or something and mistook it for this... because I've had nothing but absolutely EXCELLENT service here, along with apparently the other 3 reviewers. So its not just me. I've personally taken my car here twice, but my mother has been going here for years, never with a complaint. I trust these guys. They're straight forward, and don't try to eff you over. My first visit was for an oil change and to get my AC fixed. I picked up my car the next day and the AC worked perfectly, he didn't try to pawn off a bunch of other services, just simply replaced a small part, did the oil change, and voila. He was even nice enough to give me a report of a couple things I need to keep an eye on, rather than trying to force me to get it fixed on the spot. The second visit was for a smog. Very quick and simple, and the guys here are so nice! You bet your buns I'll be coming back. read more

The best mechanic I have ever had! As a single woman, taking my rather old car in for repairs could be a daunting experience. Luckily for me, it's not! The reason is that about 10 years ago, I serendipitously found K Brothers. I needed to get my car smogged and from the moment I entered this garage I recognised their integrity. Bill, Wally and the gang have been nothing but good to me and I always feel secure in taking my car to them. This place is HORRIBLE !!! 1) The guy answers the phone "service" which is barely audible with his heavy accent. Not "K Brothers, how can I help you". BTW...."service" is something you definitely don't get here! 2) I dropped my car off @ 9am for a smog repair. They said "We'll get right on it" 6pm and 5 calls later to check the status (me calling them) my car was ready. What did they do? Oh.... a super complicated job : changed the spark plugs. And only for a mere $70 ($30 in parts + $40 in labor) 3) When I dropped the car off the one decent guy at this place says, "It'll be $75 to check it out, but that will go towards the repairs" Fair enough. But then, when I pick up the car Mr. "Service" tries to explain that it's $75 + $70 or $150.52 with tax. I'm like..... "whoa man, your mechanic told me that the $75 to check it out would go towards the repairs" Instead of just saying, "Oh.... that's not how we work, but I'll take your word for it and speak with him later" He proceeds to call the dude at HOME to see if he indeed said that. Eventually, he reduced the charge, but really? I'm a first time customer and you call the mechanic to see if I'm lying?" Really? 4) Then, to top it off.... I get in my car and there on the passenger side floorboard is the lid to my valve cover. Nice.... and when I ask the guy to put it back on... he can only find 4 bolts. Even nicer! This is a HORRIBLE shop.... NEVER take your car there.... and tell your friends and family members to NEVER take their car there. read more

Bill and Wally are the best. I have been taking my work trucks here for over 25 years and these guys bar none are the most honest guys I have met when it comes to estimates and repairs. Some years back I heard a loud pop come from my engine and thought I blew a head gasket because I was losing power and blue smoke was poring out of my hood, fearing it was going to cost me thousands of dollars I took it into Bill and he diagnosed the problem and repaired it the next day. He explained in detail what happened and I walked out of there with a big smile because it only cost me $150 bucks for the repair. Bill Kahale solved my insurance nightmare and fixed my car last week and it looks spectacular! I got rear ended sitting at the light on Beach and Talbert. The lady who hit me had Ameriprise Auto Insurance and admitted she was texting and thought the light had changed when she hit me. Nobody hurt, no big deal, right? Not so! Her insurance company rep fought the estimate, sent me a check for half which I hadn't requested, bullied and yelled at me on the phone. It was horrific and I didn't know what else to do. Mr. Kahale is a total pro. He told me just bring it in, go get a rental and wham! Within a week the insurance agreed to a reasonable estimate, the bumper is fixed and I have my nice ride back. When I first brought my car to K Bros. I came from Harbor City. I saved thousands of dollars because they serviced my transmission and radiator in return saving me thousands of dollars. This last time I took my car to K Brothers they did it again. I had auto body work completed. It was so nice and shiny when I picked up my car before Christmas. Funny that all the positive reviews are by women, which are commonly the people most often ripped off by mechanics. I have actually been going to KBros for over 15 years, so I trusted them when they sold me a Toyota Camry for my daughters first vehicle/college car. The car had an over heating problem from the get go, which he blamed on my daughter not checking her water regularly (I never check the water in my car). We had the car towed to them no less than 4 more times, whenever the car was boiling over on the freeway, on on her way to school. The kept the car for days at a time, replaced this and that time and again, and we always had the same problem. After returning from overseas (I gave my daughter my car and put hers in storage) O got the car and immediately had the same issues. After spending over $1,000 on KBros, I took it to a friends mechanic, that found the car was running on 3 cyliners, and that one spark plug was a little over finger tight, while another almost took a pry bar to get out. He also found that the cooling system was set up completely back-assward, and that some of the lines were clogged soild... no flow. In about 30 minutes and less than $50, the car was running better than it ever had, and has not overheated once. Additionally, I had the drivers power window fail and was quoted $250 by KBros. I called my other mechanic who replaced the regulator (part was $45 at AutoZone) and installed it for $40 in less than a 1/2 hour. I paid the guy $100 for everything, and still spent less than half of what KBros wanted. Overall, don't be fooled by the friendly jive and joking at KBros, they will rip you blind, particularly if you're a female. read more

This place is a joke. If you are a guy, it might be ok. They ignore women. I recently took my car in, for a rear bumper repair. They walk around the car, open all the doors, speak to eachother in their language, then ask for your keys. None of my questions about the repairs were answered. They just walked over to some chairs, sat down , and smoked, completely ignoring me. Needless to say, I got in my car and drove away. read more

I'm sure businesses will have their ups and downs, but as a business you have to stay consistent and from the reviews on here it seems pretty gapped. Obviously, from my rating, my experience was pretty bad. So here's my story. My car was damaged from a rolling car wheel on the freeway and it completely wrecked my radiator. I took it to these guys and they estimated that the damages were around $2500 all together. I brought it to them on a Thursday and they told me it'd be done around 5 days, so the following Tuesday. On the 5th day I called them to check up on the car considering it was near closing time and they hadn't called about my car being finished. Bill (the owner and one of the brothers) picked up and told me it'd be finished either the next day (Wednesday) or the day after (Thursday), so 1 or 2 more days. 4 days later (now Saturday) I called them and someone new picked up and said the shop was closed, but he was still there (if you're there, why not work on my car?) I asked him about my car and he said it might be done the following Tuesday and everything was looking good. Tuesday comes and no one calls, so I call them around 2pm and Bill picks up and says he's been calling me since yesterday. I ask him what number he has, he repeats it to me and it's correct. Sketchy much? Anyways, I go and get my car and everything seems fine. The next day I find that my car is not okay since the tube that flows coolant isn't even connected. I found out after driving on the freeway and seeing my coolant gauge past H, stopping 3 times (one time actually on the freeway) to let it cool, and taking 1 hour and 30 minutes out of my day to get home from Long Beach (and I live in Westminster...) Luckily my engine didn't blow up from overheating. So like I said, I'm sure businesses have their ups and downs. But honestly? Having to wait way past the allotted time they said, then the day after there's already a problem? Say what you will, but $2800 (yeah the price went up) is a lot of money and I expect a lot of good results from it. Sorry, but definitely not going back to these guys again. Oh and I forgot to mention: they didn't wash my car, my "locking the car" horn sounds different, my radio station presets were changed and a bag of expensive candy my Mom bought me from Australia was near depleted. read more
