When we walked in, I wasn't super impressed with the atmosphere. There were no grills for BBQ, and the server was a white female, which tempered my expectations. However, the server was quite pleasant. We ordered drinks and shortly afterward placed our food orders. I chose the Kimchi Jigae, my father had the bulgogi, and my brother opted for the Bibimbap. We inquired about the traditional side dishes typically served at Korean restaurants, and the server, being new, seemed puzzled. Shortly after, two sets of side dishes arrived, consisting of Kimchi, Cucumber Kimchi, and some sort of green bean medley. The first thing I tried was the Kimchi, which immediately reminded me of my mother's Kimchi. It was amazing and rivaled my mother's. Next, the cucumber kimchi was equally impressive. I became hugely excited because it had been years since a Korean restaurant lived up to my standards. The green bean medley was also delicious. When the main dishes arrived, the flavors were out of this world. There were no leftovers. The best part was we were able to purchase kimchi to go--we bought two. Came here for a quick lunch on a Monday afternoon. I was greeted and seated right away. Their menu is authentic Korean food and there were several Korean people dining in, which was refreshing to see. I tried the bulgogi soup and was not disappointed. The broth is lite but flavorful. WARNING: If you are not a fan of Korean quisine you may not like this place, only Korean food served. At first entry the restaurant was very clean and neat. We were greeted by who I assume is the owner, from my observation it appears to be a "mom & pop" operation. There was the owner, the chef and a helper. They have been open for a couple of weeks and appears so, operation seems a bit shaky. My wife ordered the Bibbimpop and I had the pork bulgogi. Note: Be careful what you order, some Korean food could be very, very spicy, you might want to ask prior to ordering. We received large portions, very good food. Finally, an authentic Korean restaurant in the area! I've tried most of the Korean joints in Raleigh and Durham, and K Food Seoul tops them all. Trust me, I'm Korean and from Nova, where good Korean food is easy to come by. Kalbi was perfectly seasoned (not too sweet or salty) and every piece was quality, unlike gristly pieces too many restaurants opt for. The real star was Bibim Naengmyeon however! Good Naengmyeon is hard to find, as instant packages with broths/sauces are widely available. Their sauce tasted homemade with a good balance of spicy and umami flavors. It had a bit of broth and fine ice, like most authentic versions do. And lastly, the owner brought me a cup of broth to drink. This is how you know they make their own stock! I've only experienced this at Naengmyeon specialty restaurants in Korea. $24.99 for a filling combo of these two dishes. Not the cheapest, but worth every cent.
