This was my first time ever having Indian food, and it was amazing! I wasn't sure if I wanted to fully commit to the tikka masala because it has a strong curry flavor, so I went with the Chicken Mushroom Kroma. It was sooooo good! I, OF COURSE, got garlic naan which was great for dipping along with the rice. I found a coupon online for 10$ off 30$, and I was 12 dollars off. With the free entree, I got the paneer masala which is a classic tomato base (like the tikka masala) with paneer cubes inside. I placed my order for 6:00 and it was ready at 6:00pm on the dot. Many workers inside were constantly asking people for their names if orders weren't out (they were often already ready, but you know how uber eats drivers come in right when the order is placed expecting a 2-minute microwave timeline). The service was awesome and speedy. Food came out HOT. I can't wait to return and try more items! next on the list will be various appetizers and chicken saag with the honey garlic naan. It is easy to order many different things because the prices are SO affordable! I recently got a new job on Thayer St. so I been scoping out restaurants in the area. Kabob & Curry has been on my radar for awhile now because they are affiliated with Rasoi which I love. I finally got to try it out this week and it definitely was as good as I had anticipated it to be! In this week alone, I've tried three of their dishes: the tofu saag, chana masala, and tadka dal and they were all delicious! My favorites would be a tie between chana masala and tofu saag. I'm not normally a huge fan of chana masala, but I really liked theirs. I'm not sure if they use the same recipe as Rasoi, but I enjoyed the chana masala here more. I placed my order online for pickup and the food was ready when I arrived. I love that they have a vegan section right on their menu which meant I could easily figure out what I can order rather than scrolling through an entire menu and looking for vegan options. They also have many gluten friendly dishes. My coworker who has celiac disease had also placed her order with me and was able to enjoy her gluten friendly meal. Tucked on Thayer Street is the hidden gem, Kabob and Curry. For those familiar with Kabob and Curry, it's an Indian classic, but for those who aren't, it's definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is very inviting, which makes it a good joint for pairs of two and even groups. Kabob and Curry does a good job of catering, but for around $11 (less if you're vegetarian), you can indulge upon the variety that Kabob and Curry. all-you-can-eat buffet. The options range from a sweet cucumber salad to creamy butter chicken to perfectly spiced tandoori chicken. To top it off, the warm naan they bring to the table is cooked enough to soak up all the wonderful sauces. Something tells me this might be a Sunday regular. read more

I do not have enough good things to say about Kabob and Curry! A staple of my childhood, teenage years, and adulthood, Kabob and Curry has been on Thayer Street serving delicious food and authentic flavors my entire life. The building has an upstairs and downstairs seating area, with a cool atrium on the first floor and beautiful decor all over. The poori and pesto naan are phenomenal breads to soak up your main dish, and I have never had a dish I didn't enjoy. I've ordered take out from here a couple times this month. Food is delicious! Both times I've gotten plain naan and next time I'm excited to order some of their other naan offerings. The Lamb samosas are fabulous and I don't see myself ever ordering without getting these. Good size, tasty inside nice texture not soggy and flavorful. I once got lamb mushroom korma and next time got chicken mushroom korma. Both PHENOMENAL taste wise. I did prefer the lamb just because I prefer lamb to chicken normally. Would get both again. Once got it regular and once got it medium spice and the medium spice was spicy for me but enjoyable. Probably my favorite Indian dish anywhere. I was introduced to Kabob and Curry during my first year of college, as it is one of Brown's favorite places to order catering from. I rarely enter the restaurant, but there's been countless times where I've gotten delicious dinners for attending student events on campus. The space in the restaurant is good for both small parties and large groups. Kabob is one of the two Indian restaurants that my friends and I frequent (the other being Rasoi, which is also owned by the same people). Usually I split a bunch of dishes with whoever I'm eating with. My personal favorites are the shrimp curry (order on max spice for a nice kick!) and their vegan vegetable tikka masala (this is a special that is not always on the menu). Other yummy curries include the dal tadka, vegan tofu saag, chana masala, and potato and egg curry. I'm also a huge fan of their cauliflower 65 appetizer. The samosas are good, but not anything particularly special...same with the pakoras. For rice dishes, the vegetable biryani is consistently tasty. Recently a friend and I tried the tikka poutine, which was an interesting combination of masala seasoning on fries with tofu and vegan cheese, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The restaurant itself is very dark inside, but the staff are attentive. When I've done takeout, it's always ready when I go to pick it up and always steaming hot when I get home. Kabob is the type of place I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if I'm craving Indian, it's a place that consistently delivers good food. read more

My Aunt and I ordered from here today and we were disappointed The Malai Kofta was the spiciest we've ever had ( we eat a lot of Indian dishes but we did not want this spicy as it is generally not). The portions for everything were so very small . For almost $20 per dish, this was disappointing. The samosas were also very small and over fried . The Mango Laissi was also not great. I don't understand why this is rated so highly. I've had a lot of catered food from here and the proteins are often cut to extremely small sizes in the curries - to the size of my pinky nail. The wings took a while -- We decided instead go next door for dinner while this place made the wings. 45 minutes later, the 6 wings were finally done. I go back into the store to grab the bag and was almost yelled at by the front desk - they wanted to check the name on the bag and nearly accused me of stealing. Kabob and Curry is located in College Hill, not to far from RISD. If you haven't been to College Hill it's quite a treat - much like other neighborhoods near colleges, there's several inexpensive restaurants, a big Starbucks, a classic movie theater (with lit marquee!) and of course, Kabob and Curry. After a rather disappointing experience at Bombay Club I didn't have high hopes in finding decent Indian in Providence. Since I'm usually traveling with my friend and coworker, Siddharth, we usually sample what each city has to offer in Indian cuisine - Sid had previously lived and worked in Providence and recommended Bombay Club and we found out from that experience that the restaurant had definitely taken a turn for the worst. While searching for a new dining experience we decided to go by the Rhode Island School of Design (or RISD for short) campus on this particular evening. Doing a quick Yelp search using the smart phone app (which I highly recommend) up popped Kabob and Curry. The restaurant has a bit of an odd layout - you climb stairs into a foyer decorated in South-Eastern motifs and then walk through to an outside, covered deck. There's a fold-out sign with specials listed - interesting to see gluten free and Halal options. The smells were very good and there were more than on Indian and South Asian groups of people seated - most appeared to be students so I still reserved judgement. We were presented a menu. I spotted a Trinity IPA to find out they were out, they were also out of the Sierra Nevada, Bass Ale and Tajmahal so I defaulted to a Kingfisher. So far I'm not too impressed. Looking over the menu Sid and I both decided to go with the Thali Plates - these are a great way to sample many different items and get some extras thrown in. You get a samosa, pappadum, two veg dishes, rice or naan and a curry (or two for the jumbo) of your choice. You also get keer for dessert! Vegetarian Thali - Sid went with a sag paneer and a veg curry - he heartily approved of everything on the plate. We both had the same dal which was more of a soup and very tasty. Also, the samosas (they were both veggie) were quite good and a welcome change from some I've had recently. Meat Thali - I went with a Chicken Vindaloo and a Lamb Curry, extra spicy on both. The vindaloo had an appropriate amount of spice and tartness and the lamb curry was tender and delicious We also added a garlic naan - it was good but appeared to use that chopped garlic you get in a jar. This is still much better than that powdered garlic crap I saw in Salt Lake. In all the food was quite good with an intensity of spices missing in our previous experience at Bombay Club - we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service was great and the Thali plates offered more food than either of us could eat. The only negative was that it was a very busy night so we had to wait a bit to get our food - which was still well within our expectations. We primary chose this restaurant cuz of it's location. It's on the bustling Thayer street and the ambience is good enough to enjoy a drink or two with your Indian meal. They had drink specials during lunch ($3.99 for Mimosa/Sangria/Wine) . We ordered Sangria and Taj Mahal beer (available at select Indian restaurants). The Sangria was average. For starters we ordered Samosa Chat & Cauliflower 65. Again both were average, nothing special. For mains, we ordered Malai Kofta and Garlic Nan. It was decent, best part of our meal. Although a decent experience, I wish they had more kebob options since they have named their restaurant after them! The servers were attentive. read more

I have now had the pleasure of dining there pre-Covid, and having their delivery brought to me post-Covid. Both times we nothing short of satisfying. Their atmosphere is perfect for date nights, very intimate setting, close chairs and dim lighting. I'll begin by saying that the food at K&C was delicious. The Cauliflower 65 appetizer is amongst the top 5 best appetizers I've had in my life. Absolutely delicious, and I may consider getting it as a small meal in the future. The chicken Tikka masala was also yummy, albeit lacking a bit of spice. The rice was perfectly cooked, and prices were reasonable as far as Indian food goes these days (I.e. $14 or so for a tiny pot of chicken). My issue was strictly with the atmosphere. The area I ate in reminded me of a greenhouse? I was also no more than 2 feet away from another person in every direction. It's hard to hold the restaurant responsible for their building, but it IS part of the experience. Also, considering the high traffic location on Thayer Street, don't expect to park anywhere close to the restaurant itself. Again, not their fault, but it will happen and thus is worth bringing up. Service was on the slow side as well, but in all fairness it was pretty busy. Overall, I'd say it's a 3.5 star review from me, but I'm rounding up to 4 because of the outstanding cauliflower! I imagine we'll return at some point. read more

Have been a steady customer for the last 9-10 years. Today we had a couple of offerings from their luncheon menu, and their beer special, the Wachusset Blueberry, that went well with the cheese paneer with raw mango curry, and paneer cheese with pepper makhni, with a side of yogurt raita, naan bread, and brown rice. The menu was written in a somewhat confusing manner, which took some time to clarify with our waiter, but the flavors of the entrees more than made up for this minor inconvenience. read more

The food here is tasty and the dishes are not too expensive. Whenever Kabob and Curry is served in the Blue Room at Brown University, many people make it a point to go there for dinner. When dining-in, the atmosphere is cozy and unique. However, I am only giving them two stars because of the service my friends and I received recently. The man taking our orders was nice, but he was incredibly rushed. I get that when there are a lot of customers, there is a lot of things that need to be done. However, he was so rushed that I barely had enough time to order a side of naan before he scurried away. He also gave my friend basmati rice instead of the stuffed naan that she ordered. When we asked for the stuffed naan, he did not believe that he had made a mistake since he brought us 3 servings of rice (2 dishes; so it was hard to tell). Nevertheless, he promised to bring the naan soon. Of course the naan turned out to be regular naan (not stuffed), and we were charged for it even though it was his mistake in the first place. I will probably only be coming back to try the Sunday buffet. read more

I was a chance visitor. I accompanied my son on his college tour and while he was busy, I went to lunch. I had their express lunch but in a non express way, with a side of whole wheat roti and mango mimosa. Vegetarian thali came with three dishes, Saag paneer, Channa masala and veggie tikka masala. Veggie masala was a dud, I think it is made for their non Indian clientele, not spicy at all. But the other stuff was fantastic. Thus is coming from a New Yorker of Indian origin. I know Indian food and I live in New York City, where I can go the mother lode in Jackson heights or jersey city for amazing Indian food. This place serves excellent food. Their whole wheat roti was spectacular. Add pleasant service, I overheard the waiter speaking to the regulars and they know them well. Overall, I am pleased and need a nap or coffee. read more
