Small, family run business in a strip mall, diagonal across the street from the Whole Foods Market. We came here late on a Sunday evening for dinner. Service was excellent throughout the meal. We ordered the grilled Cornish game hens with rice and extra tomato. First, we received a basket of flat bread that was quite tasty with butter and a sprinkle of sumac. Then, we had a salad with fresh iceberg lettuce, red onions, spinach, and tomato. It had a light, slightly sweet vinaigrette. The main dish arrived shortly and the server gave us an extra plate for sharing. The Basmati rice was moist and aromatic. The grilled Roma tomatoes were a bit too charred for my liking, but okay after I peeled off a bit of the skin. Extra tomatoes are $1 each. And the Cornish game hen meat was excellent! Even the white meat portions were juicy and delicious. Love that charring on the outside! The BF happily ate every piece. I agree that the outside is kind of boring, but it is in a strip mall. The inside is VERY clean, even for suburb standards. Even their bathroom is upgraded and nice. All of the dishes, silverware, cloth napkins, decor looked fine. I've eaten at many Persian restaurants and this is one of the newer ones I've seen. Another group was celebrating a special event here and brought a cake. The place is small, but can accommodate small groups. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food provided. Our dinner for 2 was about $25 after tax and tip were added. read more

Do NOT be scared away by the location. This place is a hidden gem. I almost did not go in after seeing the outside of this place, but inside it looks like a miniature Persian palace. Food: I am not so familiar with Persian food, but I really wanted to try. Had the beef / chicken platter. (see pic) It came with a salad, flat bread, roasted tomatoes, rice, and the kabobs. Everything was very good. The waitress / owner explained everything to us, including the use of a very interesting Persian seasoning. She taught us the "right" way to eat it, but made it clear that we could eat it anyway we liked. Atmosphere: The inside of this little place feels like you were transported to another world. (Well, maybe that is stretching it a bit, but it was cool and cozy) Very friendly, and I felt that the owners really cared about our dining experience. Dessert: Big variety of Persian desserts, most of with were rose flavored in some way. We had the pistachio ice-cream, and it was incredible. Overall... this place is truly a diamond in the rough. By far the best Persian food I have outside of the Persian Gulf! After a long morning of hiking in the Redwoods, we were craving some Persian food. We made our way out to Walnut Creek and were NOT disappointed! We ordered the Mirza Ghasemi as an appetiser- SO GOOD! I ordered the Joojeh Kabob (bone-in) which I was told is their house specialty- a Cornish hen marinated to tender perfection in lemon juice and saffron. I asked for Baghali Polo to be subbed. Came here on a whim when my partner and I were craving something different. We found this gem through yelp. I got the chicken barg and my partner had the beef combo. They were cooked perfectly, the chicken breast was moist while the beef was tender enough. The food was clean, healthy and filling. More than enough to finish. But the real MVP was Sarah (unsure of name but she was the lovely lady who served us). I had left my purse there and hadn't noticed until we were home, an hour away. Kabob House does a fantastic job on takeout. It is nice not to fight downtown parking as their strip center has its own parking lot (center with Dunkin across intersection from Whole Foods). Call-in your order to save them the DoorDash fee and they will have it ready for you quickly. We have enjoyed their kebabs for many years, especially the lamb kebabs although their excellent moist chicken kebabs are delicious as well. We order the two kebab meals and have dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow with the generous portions of saffron basmati rice and salad that accompany the meal. The Eggplant Bonne is our favorite appetizer, a dip made with sautéed eggplant, mint, garlic and caramelized onion which goes wonderfully with their freshly baked bread. The owners are a very nice family that provide friendly and personable customer service. Please support them during this difficult time... you will not regret it as the food is delicious! read more

Well it has been 3 years since my last review, and I can safely say that Kabob House is just as good as ever. Last night my wife had the chicken kabob and I had the koobideh. Mouth watering good. The restaurant is so cozy and inviting especially on a cold winter night. We are always made to feel welcome and it is like visiting a good friends' home. The owners could not be more sweet. My wife has cut gluten out of her diet, and anyone who has knows how difficult it is to find tasty gluten-free dinner options when you go out. I would recommend this restaurant especially to people who are gluten intolerant as basically the entire menu, with the exception of their basket of bread, is GF!! That is right, you can order from the entire menu and not worry. So why are you still reading this??? Get up and go, you will love it. read more

Had a lovely early lunch here today. Service was fine. I had the lunch platter with lamb loin, saffron rice, a roasted tomato, salad and pita bread. Be sure to ask for the yoghurt sauce and chili sauce, both are yummy. I had a lime spritzer for a beverage and it is served in a large beer stein so be prepared! My husband and I came here for dinner and my husband hated his food. He got the Kabob Barg and it was not good at all. Our waitress never came around to ask how are food was. I truly love this place. I'm not very familiar when it comes to persian food, and I stick to a single meal. I'm a sucker for beef kebab! I've lived in the East Bay for about 1.5 years, and in my opinion this place has the best koobideh that I've tried, out of a handful of places. Their bread is baked fresh in house, always super soft and warm. There is a woman who works in the front of house, the only face I've seen, and she is the absolute sweetest, and very soft spoken. Strolling through WC today and we decided to have some Persian cuisine. Based on Yelp! ratings, we picked this place. It is located in a strip mall off the main drag in WC. Tried the Kashke Badenjan (eggplant appetizer) it was very good with the hot bread they kept refilling. Tried the cucumber salad (also good). Loved the chicken and ground beef kabobs. The rice and portions are generous and cooked very well. We had white meat chicken and it was moist and very well prepared. It is reasonably priced (dinner for two was around $40.00) My husband and have to agree that Yaz in San Jose is much better, but everything there was at least $20.00. The service was friendly and nice. We ate dinner early and were the only people in there until around 5. The iced tea with lime slice was also very good. Food is pretty good but they are missing a few key things with there Persian dishes specially with the prices they charge. Usually if your in the $27 dollar range for the kabob you get feta cheese, butter, bread and at least 2 grilled tomatoes, grilled onions, leafy greens and a healthy portion of rice. The beef kabob was tasty but the chicken kabob seemed little old and after my $27 plate I still felt hungry. The staff seemed pretty nice but there in no rush to help you either. read more

Chicken kabob was so dry and leathery that I could not chew it. I was starving when I went here and didn't finish more than several bites. Inedible. I also asked for a recommendation on rice. I said I didn't want anything sweet. She brought me rice that had handfuls of sweetened cranberries. Both the chicken and rice were largely unspiced. Plus, this dish was much too sweet for me. Their salad was lettuce on a plate. Everything we got was overpriced for what it was. I love all things kabob. I live literally down the street. I have two kids 3 and under and eat out 4 nights a week. I would rather eat a frozen dinner than go back here. In fact, I haven't been back to this restaurant in 4 years. And I won't in the future. Ok, so my fiance and I went for lunch before we went wedding dress shopping on Wednesday. We were the only ones in the restaurant save for a 4 top that came in a little after us. We were given the menu and we each ordered a lunch special - I had the lamb kabob, my fiance had a wrap. We also ordered some dolmas and some hummus. +1 star - Dolmas were delicious even though they were just filled with rice. -1 star - I didn't like the hummus. It had an overpowering cumin taste +1 star - the waiter constantly filled my glass. +1 star - lamb was very tasty as was the saffron rice (my fiance had never tasted saffron.) - 1 very large star - we had a buy one dinner entree get one free Entertainment Book coupon. We didn't notice the "dinner entree" so the owner told us we couldn't use it because we had lunch. Boo - if I had known we couldn't use it for lunch, we wouldn't have eaten there at all. The meal came out to a little over $40 for 2 lunch specials, 6 dolmas and 1/3 cup of hummus and pita bread. Not happy about the price at all. read more

Went with the family for lunch and I had koobideh. The meet wasn't fresh (dry and hard as a car tire) and I could not even consider giving a bite of this to my 2 year old. I told the manager about this and her response was "I have this koobideh every day and sorry you don't like it". Their service was rather disappointing since they took their time to arrive with the appetizers. The bottom line is that Kabob House needs to improve their service and the quality of the food and their management skills.
