I've never felt more welcome or at home in a restaurant before. Not only is the food amazing but the family that owns the restaurant goes above and beyond to make all of their guests feel welcome. The service is great and food is fresh, just like a home cooked meal. Every time we go we sit at the same table and order the same meal as it never gets old. We start with the Mantoo which never disappoints and the hommus which is made fresh. We then order the Kebabs for our main entree, whether you go with chicken, lamb or beef they're all great. Cooked perfectly and you have a choice of rice. I always leave full and satisfied and look forward to my next visit to Kabul Grill. BEST part is they are open late and never make you feel like you are inconveniencing the staff if you decide to have a meal later on in the evening. The violinist Mr. Captan is a great touch as well! I went here for a special occasion with my significant other. The place looks unique and family operated. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. We ordered the Bolanee appetizer and Tikka Kabob over rice/Khoresht Qhimeh, (combo Entree for 1). They have two person combo meals, but we weren't that hungry, and as it was, we walked out stuffed. The Lamb Tikka was well seasoned, and the Khoresht Qhimeh was very filling. The beef in the stew was surprisingly tender and the whole stew itself was very flavorful. I have never had the Bolanee before, but decided to try it after noticing the prices for the appetizers were affordable. Good choice. The contrast between the crunchy fried outside and the mash potato/onion filling was really delicious. Next time I will get two orders of those. Overall, a very pleasant experience. This place is a community treasure. My wife and I have been dining here for many years, Our entire family dine here when they visit us from out of town. We regard the menu items as comfort food that satisfies the stomach and the psyche. All dishes are consistently prepared so we're never disappointed and always satisfied with whatever we order. I have had just about everything on the menu: lamb, beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian, and am often puzzled about what to order because I enjoy everything served here. Two sisters and their brother who serve the food, are smart, helpful, and engaging. Their father runs another outstanding Afgan restaurant located on the West Side, and is the guiding presence, and their mother, a lovely helpful person, is often on site, We look forward to our weekly visits here because the food is great and we're treated like friends. read more

This is a little place serving delightful dishes. Everything we ordered was very good. The service was very good. The only noticeable glitch were the conspicuously small portions. We had to double order appetizers and repeatedly ask for bread. We ordered desert and coffee but were again underwhelmed with the portion sizes. My husband and I wanted to try something different, we were not disappointed! The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and the staff (a sweet family) was attentive and super friendly! I got the lamb chops, and my husband got a beef and rice dish, the meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. Spices were not overpowering...just perfect! First off, I've been to many of the other afghan restaurants in the area and this is hands down the best the Island has to offer! They have a great atmosphere. From the second we walked in to the minute we left the staff was friendly and kind. The spinach sambosa was excellent as an appetizer. For the main course I got a combo 1 with the barg kebab and chicken breast. It was to die for, the rice was soft and great. My friend got a lamb tikka kebab which was very soft and easy to chew. For dessert I suggest you get the firnee, it was really really good! Service was on point. HIGHLY recommend Kabul Grill!! Will be back soon!! read more

My boyfriend and I went to this place last night; it was indeed a great experience. Appetizers to main course everything was just great in taste and presentation. We ordered sampler platter for appetizers with hummus, bulanee, and eggplants and for the main entrées, it was qabuli rice with charcoal grilled chicken topped with raisins and carrots; It could not taste better. If you are looking for good and tasty afghani food and the place that has some class with it you have to come here. Went with a party of six. All of the meat and fish entrees we ordered were great. There were a few strangenesses. The "brown rice" on the menu meant a flavored white basmati rice not an unhulled rice. It tasted good but it needed the provided yogurt sauce as it was a little dry. There is no alcohol served but they said we could bring wine ourselves. I asked for iced tea and was given a 10oz can of Arizona. The default salad was a little iceberg lettuce and a hard tomato slice (in August!!!). They should do something different ...anything. read more

I was in hicksville getting fingerprinted for some work related stuff when i decided to go on yelp and see what good food spots are out here. I realized that hicksville/bethpage has a strong middle eastern population, so i figured id try one of these restaurants out. I was recommended to try kabul grill, and boy oh boy THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME. The owner, maz, was nice enough to give me a free appetizer and some hummus which was out of this world. I will DEFINATELY be coming here again next time i am in the area. The best part about this restaurant is that its BYOB! The service is quick and the employees are great. I do not have one complaint about this place and i suggest everyone give this place a try if you are in the area. read more

I've come to eat here several times, and every time, the service was excellent, and the food was great. I've never had a bad experience before. Today has been a huge disappointment. The service from the waiters was terrible and very slow. Once we got our meals, we did not see our server again. I was hoping our server would come by so I could ask for a refill, but after waiting for awhile, my friend stood up to walk over to the bar area with my empty glass. The server was standing behind the counter and behind a divider so after taking the empty glass from my friend, he returned to our table with my refill and then proceeded to ask how our meal was. Wheatear you feel like eating middle eastern or Indian food this place has the menu to accommodate it. I like the food, is cheaper than most Indian restaurants around and you get a salad that comes with every dish. I like that it has an ethnic atmosphere with kids running around and the adults sit and chat for hours. read more
