After seeing this on Beli's list of top thai restaurants in the city, I decided to make a visit! I made a reservation for the patio since there weren't anymore available for the dining room. Although the patio is covered and there are fans, I would not recommend dining there if it is hot outside and definitely not if it's raining. We ordered the chor muang (purple dumplings), gaeng pu (softshell crab curry), crying tiger steak, and royal pad thai to share amongst three people. We had some food left over and probably could've done without the pad thai since they offer refillable rice. Although the chor muang were very photogenic, we weren't impressed by the filling, which was sweet and savory with a peanut sauce. The gaeng pu however was delicious and I enjoyed my first softshell crab. The crying tiger steak was flavorful but i've had better crying tiger elsewhere as i found this one to be a bit chewy. The portion was smaller than I expected especially after seeing the rest of the meat based dishes come out in a bowl that was at least 1.5 times larger. The curry sauce was the best part as it was flavorful and creamy with the right amount of chili. The vegetables and tofu could have used more care. The eggplant was still raw which made it bitter and slightly crunchy. The tofu felt over fried and oily and salty which was not very enjoyable to eat. - thai gnocchi in coconut milk (7/10): steamed purple rice gnocchi in a sweet coconut broth with young coconut shreds. This was one of the more unique desserts. I was expecting it to be more aesthetically appealing after seeing the garnishes on the entrees. Group of 4 of us got a reservation on Monday night. We sat inside -- the space is very beautifully decorated; I believe there is an outdoor patio as well. We ordered the Yum Som O pomelo salad to start, the Pad Cha Talay seafood sautee, the Gaeng Pu crab curry, the ped Ma kham sous vide duck breast, and the pad kea mao Talay. Everything was very flavorful and there were no misses. I think the pomelo salad and the crab curry were standouts to me. The seafood sautee and the pad kea mao Talay were very similar so I wouldn't get the both of them again. I'd also personally pass on the duck breast as I enjoyed the seafood more but that's more of a personal preference. Also got sticky rice for dessert which was good but not standout. Had reservations for 5:30 Saturday. Arrived at 5:45 (called ahead to make sure our table was held) and were told we have to vacate our table before 7pm for the next reservation. Very dismissive staff. Maybe this was a bad day. Felt off right away. Not the kind of hospitality that we were hoping for... Were seated in the outside tent. Freezing despite some heat lamps. Not cozy or comfortable at all. Everyone was complaining how cold it was. I couldn't relax and be comfortable. Not a pleasant experience. Service was off that night. Waiters were super frazzled and everyone's water glasses remained empty and plates remained bare of rice, which was supposed to flow abundantly. Indoor seating is tiny. We were sat in a tent, with heat lamps that didn't make a dent in how uncomfortable we were. All the visitors around us kept their coats on and were also complaining of the cold. This was horribly reminiscent of Covid days, when you had to freeze outside and watch your food congeal into ice before your eyes. Not for winter months! My teeth couldn't stop chattering. This was brutal. Almost all the picnic style tables in the tent were communal style dining. We were sharing a table with strangers. Very awkward. Makes for a very uncomfortable experience, as you're eating with strangers who are mere inches away from you. Forget about any kind of conversation that won't be accompanied by awkward facial reactions from strangers. It took a while for our food to be delivered. Everything was delicious. The spices reminded me of my recent trip to Thailand--definitely the food in this restaurant is authentic & reminiscent of good quality local dishes. $30 hor mok pu was underwhelming. Tiny portion of crab meat beaten with egg and turned into a custard like substance. Was expecting more out of this. Too spicy--didn't feel any flavor here other than overpowering spice. $35 gaeng poo (soft shell crab in coconut curry) was delicious. Rich and creamy coconut curry. This was so spicy. We were crying and our sinuses cleared up. Make sure you're aware of the spice level or ask to make it milder. $35 tamarind duck breast melted on the tongue. Spectacular! The portions are on the smaller side, and the prices are definitely on the higher side but the quality is undeniable. Service was great and everyone was super welcoming and attentive, and it really adds a lot to the overall experience. The space itself felt vibrant yet intimate. We ended up here serendipitously but when we sat down I had a Deja vu. I think I have been here long time ago. We showed up for an early dinner and were lucky to get a table because as we sat there, all the tables in the room filled up. We each got a drink. Love when a restaurant has NA drink menu. Longan tea was super refreshing. And then we each got an entree. The green curry chicken was everything I ever dreamed of. Fragrant spices, mild kick and tender chicken. The Gaeng Poo and Chor Muang are must-gets at this warm and intimate establishment. There are only 7 interior tables and the rest are in their backyard (which my partner and I didn't get to see). Since the place is small, service is quick, efficient, and hospitable. The highlights of the meal were the Chor Muang (Royal Flower Dumplings) and the Gaeng Poo (Soft-shell Crab Curry). The dumplings were beautifully presented and tasted nutty, sweet and savory. The texture was pleasantly chewy. The Gaeng Poo is delicious goodness featuring well seasoned crab and curry. The crunchy soft shell crab provided a fun contrasting crunch in an otherwise saucy dish. The curry itself was a nice balance of sweet, savory and fragrant coconut. We also got the fried banana blossoms to try which were pretty good, served with the standard sweet Thai chili sauce. I would suggest skipping the lemongrass chicken skewers and the Panang Neua. While both are good and have really well seasoned and tender meat, they veered on the sweeter side for me the lemongrass chicken is also served with the standard sweet Thai chili sauce so there's that. All you need to take from this is get a reservation if you can and that Kaew Jao Jorm has good food. And maybe don't go on a scorching hot day. read more

I was worried at first that there wouldn't be many vegetarian options (at first glance the menu is all meat and fish) but they were able to make both the pad thai and the green curry with tofu (and it was really good tofu)!! most recent visit: TLDR do not host your party here! food still superb but i was very disappointed to see that with stress testing, they couldn't provide the level of service needed for a large party. my friend had booked her birthday party here for the outdoor patio. the first problem was that the heat lamp ran out of gas. they reassured us they would refill it, but after 30-45 mins no one had come to the rescue. we stopped multiple servers multiple times to try to get it resolved. on that note, the second issue was that they didn't have enough rice to serve us all so we had to eat our meals staggered. our friends who had the first serving of rice were forced to eat ahead of the rest to avoid their food getting ice cold (remember the heat lamps?) finally, we had asked them to clear the table and bring out the birthday cake. i really felt for them because they were clearly understaffed but it was just a mess. we asked them 3x and no one came so we asked for the check immediately and took the cake somewhere else to be cut. my friend's magical day turned into a nightmare and she was pretty upset though she didn't make a fuss to the staff/management. the staff didn't do anything to apologize to the birthday girl either. unfortunately, i can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant. first visit: the pomelo salad was insane like maybe even better than my entree. i couldn't wrap my head around how it was that good. perfect balance of tartness from the pomelo, savoriness from the fish sauce, and freshness from the mint. Even though the ambiance and presentation of the dishes was beautiful, I wouldn't come here for the dishes I had. My friend and I came on a whim for a Sunday lunch and we are so glad we did. The interior of this place is beautiful with gorgeous tapestries and flowers. There is limited seating inside but there seemed to be outdoor seating as well. Very intimate setting. We had the chor muang which are these sweet and savory chicken and peanut dumplings with a great coconut flavor. These are gluten friendly as the wrapping is made with rice flour. For entrees, we had the panang neua (panang curry with tender beef) and the chu chee pla too (whole mackerel in red curry sauce). Both dishes were had a great depth of flavor but the panang neua really stood out to me. As you can see by the photos, the mackerel is whole so it has bones - if you're used to eating fish fillets, be mindful while eating. Service was wonderful, waters were constantly refilled and the rice was unlimited (I was asked if I wanted more and happily obliged). However, keep in mind that this restaurant is tiny (less than 30ish seats I think) so once they do become popular or on busier weekends, reservations are probably better. For a group of 3 we ordered the Yum Som O (Pomelo Salad), Phed Ma Kham (Duck Breast), Salted Eggs with Five-Spiced Pork, and Crab Omelette. This was a perfect amount of food for our group and every dish was phenomenal. The only dish I thought that was good but not necessarily special enough to re-order was the Crab Omelette. Solid dish but nothing stood out compared to the other dishes. Also unlike other Thai restaurants that charge $$ for a side of rice, this place offers free unlimited rice. The indoors was quite small and crowded though. I was really excited for this place after reading some of the reviews but unfortunately maybe my expectations were too high. All of the food was very aesthetic and beautifully presented, but unfortunately didn't taste as mind blowing as I would have hoped. I lowkey hope it stays this way for my own sake, but also hope that a lot of people find out about this spot and start coming because it's just that good. Everything about this place screams luxury, which is appropriate as their entire menu and the court is inspired by Thai royalty. I love the aesthetic of this place and how intimate and warm the restaurant felt. I was so intrigued by their unique menu of items that I don't typically find at Thai restaurants. I ordered the Tod Mun Poo which is a Thai style pancake with fish and crab meat. The texture was perfect with a crispy exterior and soft and fluffy interior. The dipping sauce paired perfectly with the pancakes. We also ordered the Chu Chee Pla Too which is a Thai mackerel in a red curry sauce. Although the flavor of the curry was great, I had such a difficult time eating the mackerel with all the bones so I wish there were pictures or a description to warn me that the fish was cooked whole. My favorite was the crab omelette, which I forgot to take a picture of because I couldn't help myself and dug right in. The omelette had such an amazing aroma and cooked to perfect perfection. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous chunks of crab meat that were in the omelette. Also an amazing perk is that we didn't have to pay for rice and they had come around to offer unlimited rice. Small Thai restaurant with just more than a dozen seats. We walked in on a Monday in the early evening. They were mostly booked, yet advised they could squeeze us in for a table for a hour. They had us in and out within the hour, but I don't think the rush was necessary as a few tables were still open as we left. Space is best for groups of two. They could likely accommodate groups of three to six with a reservation. The decor felt like it capitalized on the recently released third season of HBO's White Lotus which was based in Thailand. Lots of green hues plus interesting quasi-human creatures depicted in artwork. Beverage menu was focused on teas and wines. Plenty of intriguing options for both. Food seemed to be influenced by Chinese and American cuisines. Found more sweetness and doughiness than I expected. Also, I didn't pick up on any fish oil which I appreciated, but something that I typically associate with Thai cuisine. We shared an order of purple dumplings which had a meaty and nutty filling. Dumplings were quite doughy and had a sort of gnocchi like resemblance. There were five, small bite sized dumplings. A big of sweetened to them. For the main course, we shared the duck breast. I believe it cooked at a low temp for a longer time. Skin was soft and missing that crispiness that I love in a nicely seared or roasted duck. On the other hand, the fat was nicely rendered. Meat was cooked to a medium wellish range but that was balanced out by the finely cooked fat. It was served over mustard green and along with a very sweet sauce similar to a general tso's. There was one, medium length red pepper. Kind of looked like a Sichuan pepper but I couldn't identify it. It was very spicy. Big mouth burn, nose drip, and stomach discomfort; however, no numbness. Service was attentive and quick to refill our water and rice. Pacing of the food was quick yet timely. There is one single occupancy restroom which seems to be shared with the pizzeria next door. It has accessibility bars but there is a step required to enter the restaurant plus a half step needed to access the hallway leading to the restroom. There is a backyard but I'm uncertain if it belongs to the restaurant of the pizzeria. read more

While the food is undoubtedly delicious, I mainly am rating five stars due to the exceptional service and hospitality. I felt so welcomed and comfortable, even amiable, throughout my entire experience thanks to every staff I interacted with. My favorite dish is the Chor Muang appetizer. The pomelo texture unexpectedly but perfectly fits with the Southeast Asian flavors. The side rice is unlimited! As a devout carbs addict, I couldn't ask for a better perk. Love the interior as well. Very full and lively without feeling disorganized. read more

What a wonderful meal! The staff were very attentive and had a great system down with one another. All of the plating and decor was elegant. The food was stunning! The dishes were sweet, salty, spicy and sour. I'll think about this meal until I get to go back and try more dishes. read more

Very charming Thai spot!! I havent had an experience like this in quite a while! Great service, very cozy and beautiful interior. Lots of nice glassware and plates. Just aesthetically very pleasing all around. I was pretty excited to come, having perused the menu beforehand. Tried the chicken dumplings, banana blossom salad, softshell crab curry, and the branzino. Everything was very very good. New York has a ton of good Thai spots but this one is one of the better ones I have had! The chicken dumplings were unique for their color, but I found the texture and flavor to be great as well. the outer skin was thick and glutinous and it has a sweet coconut drizzle which paired very nicely. Never had dumplings like these before! The banana blossom salad was very spicy. I dont actually know what banana blossom even is, but I was into it. Loved both mains. The branzino is fried so it is a tad dry. Personally, I like that but if you prefer your fish soft and flaky this may not be a texture you like. Softshell crab coconut curry was perfect. Thick and creamy and paired wonderfully with rice. Rice doesnt need to be ordered here, they come around and serve it on your plate for you. Very communal vibe that I appreciated! It's a small spot so would recommend having a reservation! So cute I think it would be great for a date or a cute dinner with girl friends. I cant wait to be back here!! read more
