I came to Kaffa! today in search of a place to sip some coffee and get some work done. I was thrilled that they offer free wifi. the coffee is excellent. I ordered an iced variety, that had been steeped for 72 hours, wow, packs a punch. Employees are friendly and happy to help with suggestions. I came in at 3 p.m. and the place was empty. Fantastic! Finally got some work done. I was sad to see a severe lack of outlets. Most of the outlet plates are covered over. I luckily found one near the back. So if you're going with your computer, go with the battery charged or be ready to fight for plug-in. read more

Good food, great and friendly staff and good coffee. Prices are a bit out there for a café. Many choices of coffee and food since their change to new management. I highly recommend the Chicken Pesto and Bulgogi sandwich. Their Chinese Chicken Salad is also a hot seller. Very quiet most of the day until the lunch rush around 11:30. Excellent place to get some work done or have breakfast. As far as I am aware, the recipes for the food is the same as it was under previous management. read more

"Oh so" different and "Oh so" warming.... Came here on a coffee run with my friends from work and when you enter their doors, you get the sense they know everyone that walks in (of course I mean their REGULARS). I was a bit hesitant to order as they carry only a few blends. The guy at the corner was super friendly and helpful. Definitely NOT a Starbucks employee or other big chain coffee shop workers. He didn't rush us at all. We just got the coffee that he recommended to be their most strongest stuff. It was GOOD. Why??? Becuz it didn't leave a bitter after taste. It was so smooth and strong but not where you felt it was too much. I seriously liked their coffee. I liked that it was not too crowded either. The only thing I will say is that it was a bit more than other places but they do have good coffee. I'm interested to return and try their flavored stuff, try their paninis (since fellow yelpers have raved about). I might not feel the same about the next time, but we'll see. read more

3.5 stars I thought about this for some time, and ultimately I wanted to give this place a little more for what it was worth but I can't really forgive the drinks here. DRINK QUALITY: Hot chai latte's are my go-to drinks when it's available, but fortunately that wasn't the only thing that I got to drink. Hot Chai Latte, why are you FLAT. Texturally watered, flavorless with only a hint of spice, and a mediocre amount of sweetness. Iced Mocha had coffee flavor but I didn't taste anything more than that and sugar. ENVIRONMENT: I do like the interior here, it's nice, quiet, comfortable, and cozy. Feels like some place where you can catch up with an old friend or event a nice coffee date (though I think it might be a little -too- quiet with a lot of echo.) Clean and modern with hardly any trace of interior damage. Maybe I need to come back here to try the straight up coffee, because I'm not exactly sure what happened here. read more

We ordered Denver panini & white mocha these two we're good. Also, ordered tomato bagel but the bagel was hard. It seems like it's an old cheese bagel that has been sitting their for a while. Located in a strip mall this place is deceptively good. The ambiance belies its location where you'd expect an atmosphere designed to turn out customers quickly and turn over profit in volume. Not so. I started with a gigantic Cafe Mocha where the barista actually ground roasted beans for me in front of my eyes. Coming from coffee city (Seattle) I'm surprised retrospectively that I'd not seen this before. Ironic and shameful. I ordered different items: Chinese chicken salad, southwestern turkey panini, the cafe mocha (artistically done btw), and smoked salmon breakfast. I can recommend all of these things without hesitation. If there's anything I'd critique it's that the quantities are too large where I'd feel guilty about leaving food on the table. It's seems that he hates his job. This young guy that works there with glasses doesn't even know how big a half or full size of a bowl is. Love this place- I came in a few days ago for tea and lunch... ordered a mint tea to go with a Lemon Zest Albacore Tuna Panini (sooooo good and such a fresh, unexpected pairing!) and was satisfied and content with my meal. The portion size was just enough~ I came in on an empty stomach (forgot to eat breakfast) and left feeling neither too full or hungry. The sandwiches are slightly on the pricier side, but trust, it's worth it. Service was okay, maybe a bit indifferent? I came here for a treat, a matcha green tea latte. They offered different milks, including almond milk, which I got. The restaurant's name is a historical location in Ethiopia, but the owners are definitely not Ethiopian. I expected the cafe to be European actually and it's not that either. I went here because it was recommended to me as being a premier coffee house, and being a coffee snob I'll tell you - the coffee is 5 stars all the way. Unfortunately there's more to an experience than the product, and that comes into play if you're going to be hanging out for a while. I went there to meet my business partner around 4:30pm so that we could get some work done. After our initial greetings we sat down and started chatting for a bit. We were trying to decide whether we should stay there (since it came so highly recommended) or if we should move to another place because Kaffa closes at 6pm! What coffee house closes at 6pm anyway?! We decided to stay and see what all the buzz was about. We were sitting at our table for about another 30 minutes catching up and talking about work. I kept getting the feeling that we were being hawked at. Kind of like a "are these people going to order or just take up space?" feeling. I get it, if we're going to hang out we should order, but wow. When we went up to order I was talking to the barista a bit, telling him that I live down the street and had never heard of Kaffa before. His answer was less than friendly. I was expecting an "oh, well I'm glad you found us" or something, but instead..."well, we've been here for 10 years so that's weird that you've never heard of us" - huh?! Wow, thanks for making me (a local) feel really welcome here! Anyway, I got the Anaheim Scramble, which ended up being pretty good. Be careful though - it's not an omelet! It's actually a panini with the scramble inside. I thought I was ordering an omelet (trying the low carb thing), so I wanted to warn you. I also got a vanilla soy latte which was also really good. Everything was going great until about 5:30pm when they started going through all of their closing duties - cleaning off all of the tables, etc. It really felt like a "okay, time to go people!" type of vibe. This hidden cafe is pretty sweet if I do say so myself. Located across Choc Children's Hospital in a shopping plaza on Main and La Veta, it's actually pretty easy to miss since it's sort of small. There's a few tables outside of it so if the weather's nice out, I would recommend sitting outside and enjoying the breeze and sun. Inside, there's a couple of small tables, counter seats, and a big table where probably 8 people can sit at in the back. It's actually surprisingly roomy though. It has a very coffee shop feel to it, but this place doesn't just limit itself to selling coffee. They have some of the best paninis I have ever tried! On my first visit, I went during lunch and ordered the Southwest Turkey Club, which had oven-roasted turkey, crispy bacon strips, tomato, avocado, peppered Jack cheese, and roasted garlic chipotle spread in it for only about $7. For an extra $1.75, you can get your choice of soda (in a can) and salad. I opted for this and got a Caesar salad. For under $10, you can DEFINITELY get full off of this combo. The Caesar salad is delicious and fresh! It's pretty filling for the size of it. The Southwest Turkey Club I ordered was bomb.com, yo! Freaking hugeeee. I could barely finish it, but I did because it was delicious! Loved the chipotle spread in it. I definitely recommend that. The service is here is really good. They'll bring out your orders to your table if you're sitting down and they're super nice. You have to bus your own stuff though, but it's not really a big deal to me. This place definitely gets its usuals since it's so close to the hospital and other big businesses. It can really get crowded at lunch. Nonetheless, I would definitely come back. The Spinacci con Lebni, which is actually vegetarian with grilled baby spinach, grilled mushrooms, vine ripe tomato, and Mid-eastern Lebni (Kefir) Cheese (but for $2.50 you can add chicken), looked amazinggg. read more

The whole time I thought as I was walking in 88 degree heat to the much raved about coffee and paninis at Kaffa that "maybe I should turn back and get in my car" or "THIS BETTER BE SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT!" Since it was only 1.5 miles one way, my smart ass thought it would be a great idea to go out for a brisk walk with the OC Register in one hand and a 10 lb. purse in the other. So after a few dizzy spells, a foot cramp, and moderate dehydration, I finally made it to the coffee shop by foot. I then proceeded to order a sugar-free vanilla iced latte and a chicken pesto panini. Okay, either I was really hungry and thirsty or this had to be the best sugar-free vanilla iced latte and chicken pesto panini I've ever had! The latte had a nice aroma and finish to it. The sandwich was garlicky, simple yet packed full of flavor. Got myself a coffee punch card as well...can't wait to try the other coffee drinks and sandwiches so I can get my 11th coffee for FREE! The food is pretty good, but without fail the cashiers appear to not know how to correctly enter orders which either takes forever or results in food coming out wrong. I also saw the manager, who was preparing food in the back, handle money to give to the cashier (with her gloves on) and then with the same gloves went back to making food. Gross. read more
