Frequently come here to pick up pizza. I personally have never dined inside but the establishment is always quite busy and looks clean! Their pizza is delicious and so are the appetizers. I do wish they had specials that they rotated more, maybe monthly, but overall the food is great! My only "complaint" is how costly their wings are, which I know is not unique to just this restaurant. They're delicious but I believe nearly $2 a wing at this point. This is your typical, neighborhood bar, pizza place. They have a bar area to your right when you walk in and a small dining area to your left. A lot of the host/waiters are teens. My daughter, wife and I decided to try Kaiser's this past weekend. Summary: we loved it. They are very busy and have a large take-out business. I started with a Guinness. We had their beer nuggets as an appetizer. There were not the small pretzel bits I was expecting. It was a dough pie with cheese and seasonings. My wife and daughter loved it. I passed. A bit too heavy for me. For dinner I had the Wings and some onion rings. The wings were really juicy. Done perfect. Wonderful. My wife had the baked potato with pot roast. She loves it. My daughter had the meatball sandwich. She loved it. I thought the meatball was a bit dry. We will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. read more

This was going to be a two-star review but for the price, I paid for a large 16 inch half pepperoni double dough pizza and got a $19 dollar thin-crust pizza, the dollar cost averaging ticked really ticked me off. Kaiser's Pizza & Pub waitstaff tried to put the blame on me for not saying double dough when I placed the order but within the earshot of four adult family members, they all heard me repeat double dough three times to the order taker. The order taker was more concerned that I was calling with a Chicago area code, and I told them this was the Kaiser's Pizza & Pub in Gurnee and that I wanted a large half-pepperoni double dough pizza and was told that it would be ready in 30 minutes, I arrived around 25 minutes to find a full bar for the Super Bowl and a half-full dining room and was given this $19 thin-crust pizza. But that was not what I ordered, the two girls working the register couldn't be older than 18 and while they offered to find a manager (How hard could that be in such a small pizza joint) I told the girls I've been up since 4:30 am to see Woodstock Willie the Groundhog, I wanted my pizza and while they gave a coupon for a measly $4.00 off, this wasn't really what I ordered and it wasn't enjoyed by everyone at home. So the kicker, I like supporting local businesses wherever possible but looking at the reviews for Kaiser's Pizza & Pub for the last year, the one consistent thing Kaiser's good at in 2019 is one-star Yelp reviews. If I owned Kaiser's Pizza & Pub, I would be doing everything in my power to prevent one-star reviews like this one, even if it means pulling taking the order takers smartphones away so they listen to the customer paying for their pizza orders and offering a level of service that was likely the norm in Kaiser's heyday. Will I order again from Kaiser's Pizza & Pub, Likely not, now that I know their staff would rather blame a customer for their mistake, and that I could get two three-topping 14-inch pizzas from Dominos Pizza for $5.99 each, I could rest assured I could enjoy equally more mediocre pizza with more toppings than Kaiser's, that Domino's could screw up by messing up on the dough or topping with that order and it would still be more pizza for less money than what I paid for tonight. read more

Great place to go if you haven't caught Omicron yet! At least half the staff walking around unmasked, including all of the servers I saw. Just as crowded as it was pre-COVID, so tables so close together you can barely walk between them & pickup customers crammed like sardines inside the front door. Was told my order would be ready in 40 minutes, when I got there was told 10 more minutes, 20 minutes later I finally walked out with my pizza. Moved from the area about 2 years ago and really looked forward to my favorite pizza here given the fact good pizza in South Carolina is nonexistent. My wife had visited Kaiser's in January and had warned me that she thought the pizza was not as good as she remembered. Yesterday was my turn to indulge. Not sure what happened but the pizza crust really seemed thicker and not as crispy as I always enjoyed. In addition, the sauce was a bit thicker than normal. I would say this was more of a 4.5 out of 5 visit. The staff is very friendly & helpful. I wish there was an option for a booth instead of all tables but that's not a deal breaker. The pizza was a little well done but not to the point of ashes. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I would probably spend my paycheck here. No joke, this place is legit! The thin crust is stupid delicious! The pizza sauce balanced with the Italian beef, pepperoni & cheese is damned near perfect. Drop 2 minutes in the oven & you're gold! Kaiser's negligence caused my dog to become lame & not able to walk! We have ordered from them for years but lately their quality of food & service has diminished. Last night I called & asked FIVE times to have the delivery driver call or text when food is on porch and DO NOT ring door bell or knock because we have a senior dog recovering from injuries. Not only did the delivery person ring the bell, he rang it twice plus knocked! My dog was so agitated she slipped in the hallway and now cannot walk! When we called to talk to the manager - all we heard was excuses: they don't have enough staff, the person taking calls was new, the owner will call us to apologize...still waiting for that call. We have spent thousands $ helping our dog with her spinal degenerative disease to have 9 months of progress eliminated with one dang pizza delivery by Kaiser's who doesn't give a flying f*ck. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. They don't care about you, their quality or doing the right thing for their customers. They think volume is the answer but not for this family who used to support them as our favorite local pizza establishment. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Waited 20 minutes (after I called it in and was there when they said it would be done) for a celery and carrot stick side with ranch dressing and a small pizza. Please see pic. The celery was mushy and the carrots were green and moldy. The ranch dressing obviously had turned because it smelled like urine. Came here while on temporary duty at the Great Lakes Navy Station and several people recommended it. Very glad they did, it's a great pub. Thin crust is their speciality and it was very good. Pricey but worth a splurge. Its crust is almost like a firm cracker- very unusual. Cut in squares rather than traditional slices. I saw one of the double deckers and it looked like it would feed the entire Navy. The beer nuggets are fantastic! Balls of pizza dough puffed up, baked and rolled in parmesan. PERFECT CRUST I can not believe we have never stopped here. We are always driving by Kaiser's on our frequent trips to Six Flags Great America but there has always been some excuse for us not to stop. One of our excuses was that the parking lot always seems to be packed. And after today I now understand why that parking lot is always full. It was a weird weather day for Six Flags. The temperature was over 70 degrees in October but it started raining at 2pm. The rides were still running because there was no thunder or lightning. So we decided to take a break at the Gurnee Mall. As we were driving back to Six Flags there was a hunger strike in the car, we went to the internet and started looking all of the restaurants we have never tried. Kaiser's kept coming up as a suggestion in the group and before we knew it we were pulling up in the parking lot. We were extremely lucky that the lot was not crowded at all. We later learned that one of the staff members was getting married that day and that may have caused them not being packed. So congrats on your wedding and thanks because we were able to grab a table without waiting. The two young kids at the front counter looked a little confused when we walked in. I think they also might have been taking phone orders too, so multitasking for a teenager is probably not a strong skill set for them. The girl seemed real hesitant about where to sit us in the dinning room. She finally told us to just take the round table in the corner of the dinning room. Her lack of confidence led us to asking if we could sit in the bar and she said, "Yes go anywhere you want in there!" I am so glad that we sat in the bar because we were able to meet Wendy who was the bartender slash waitress in the bar area. Her section was really dead and I love helping out the staff that is not making any money. The bar was great. They were playing about 3 different college football games and one baseball playoff game. The TV's were in kind of weird positions except for the main one over the bar. But I am a dude and I can see any game I want from any position because that is how I roll. TV's in a sports bar were never made to be comfortable. If you want comfortable just go home and crash on your couch. I am not a huge college football guy anyway but I was happy to see Wisconsin win big. Wendy our server was really nice. She quickly grabbed us a pitcher of beer along with frosted pint glasses. She even grabbed our little one paper and crayons to color. Our little one created some Halloween photos and gave them to Wendy. Wendy spoke to the owner and they planned on putting them up on the wall. So that was really cool and nice plus my little one was very excited about that. I also must mention that Wendy brought us two fresh chilled glasses after we finished our first beers. The pitcher was also a great deal at $7.50. I am glad that my wife asked if they served pitchers because many places do not do that anymore. A pitcher of beer seems so old school but it always the best deal. We also put our order in for a 16" inch thin crust pizza. When the pizza arrived it was cooked perfectly. The curst was super thin and crunchy all the way through every bite. We looked at each other and could not believe we had never stopped in here. This is going to be our go to place when we are at Six Flags from now on. Great pizza and beer prices without breaking the bank. I also must mention the sauce had a nice sweet taste to it and the cheese was very good quality. The pizza was not greasy at all and satisfied our whole family. We are huge fans of Kaiser's now. We are also not going to be scared of that full parking lot either. I noticed that they had a few picnic tables located outside. If worse comes to worse we are going to order our pizza to go and eat in the parking lot. Yeah it is that good and I am not going to be denied anymore. We are so glad that we finally stopped in. Wendy our server in the bar area was amazing. She was friendly and helpful for all of our stupid questions. She was also very nice to our little one, which is high marks for me when it comes to customer service. Stopped in on a hot steamy Sunday and had the best pizza we've had in a long, long time!! We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty everything was. We ordered two apps, mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. The sticks were just so/so, but the mushrooms were delish and were not greasy at all. Then our yummy pizza came out! We got the Kaiser's special (thin crust) and just loved it. Perfect amount of sauce and toppings. We left feeling very satisfied, and the service was great too. We will be back!! read more

My favorite hometown pizza place closed over 10 years ago and Kaiser's was the closest to theirs I've ever had. I moved from Illinois to Minnesota 27 years ago and have never found a good Chicago tavern style pizza up there. Took the family down to Gurnee for a mini vacation this week and stopped in for dinner on our last night. So the pictures don't look very appealing, but looks must be deceiving, because this was one of the best Chicago thin crust pizzas I've ever had. It was nice and crispy, but yet not oily. I don't know how they do it. The place was packed and so they told us there would be quite a wait. We had a pretty big group, so it was understandable. Also fortunately, the estimated wait was way over estimated. I think we ended up being seated in less than half the time. Definitely worth having Kaiser's if you're in the area. Unfortunately for us, we're nowhere near this area on any regular basis. But if I am up in Gurnee, I would definitely go to Kaiser's again. read more

Lots of comments below say that this is the best thin crust pizza, and you should totally believe them. I haven't had any of the thin crust pizzas, but if the double decker ("deep dish") pizza is any indicator, they're probably right. When I dream about deep dish pizza, either kaisers or pequods appears (note: I live in hyde park, so this place is a bit of a trip for me or else I'd come here every day). The crust on the deep dish here is moist with the perfect amount of crunch. It's braided a bit so you get this amazing contrast in texture when you bite into the crush. The pizza itself is oh my delicious. When I came here, I got a large double decker with spinach, sliced tomatoes, and giardinera to share between 3 people (note: we all love pizza). We had about 1/4 left over, which I took home. I got the same pizza when I came the second time and ordered a larger size so I had more to take home. They also have TVs so you can watch your favorite sports game while eating this beautiful pizza. When you reheat this pizza at home, the perfectness of the crust remains.
