Kaki Sushi is a solid sushi joint in Pleasanton. When we came, on a busy night for that matter, we were seated within 5 minutes. Initially I noticed that the customer service was incredible! The entire staff is friendly and inviting. The decor is quaint and the place isn't too big, but you don't feel stuffed in there. As for the food, you can tell the sushi is FRESH. The prices are reasonable and the service prompt. Everyone at the table gets a miso soup and a little bit of edamame which is great. We ordered gyoza for an appetizer and it was pretty easy to tell they were not just crappy frozen gyozas; they tasted fresh. Roll wise, my favorites were probably Sushi Girl and the Aloha roll. We also ordered the Godzilla, Chuck Norris, and Shrimp Crunch rolls, all of which were delicious. All of the rolls were demolished with zero effort because it was that tasty. First taime back while during COVID. They are doing 50% open tables so you might consider going on a weeknight. We had no problem getting a table on a weeknight. We ordered the salmon skin handrolls, chicken karage, the mega three roll and the hamachi lover's roll. First time having the salmon skin handrolls and they were awesome - a great texture combination and a great mix of cooler items with the salmon skin. Definitely the high point. Great service as always. We liked the hamachi lover's roll, but I miss the Hisui Express in Dublin's hamachi lover's roll. Too bad they closed. read more

We came here after shopping at the outlets - Great food, service and the prices are very reasonable.

Visited on a rainy Sunday evening, and it was pretty slow. The servers were great and the food was exceptional. They were nice enough to change the TV channel for us so we could watch the end of a game. We started off with a complimentary miso soup and edamame. We ordered the Washington, Krispy, and Hurricane rolls. My favorite was the Krispy Roll, which was wrapped in a deep fried tempura that gave the roll a great crunch. My second favorite was the Washington, which comes with a thin slice of lemon on the top. The tempura ice cream was also really delicious. They have mango or green tea ice cream to choose from. We went to Kaki Sushi to grab some take out since we were all craving Japanese food. It was a Friday night so we knew we would not have any luck getting a spot in the restaurant. We called in our order and by the time we were over there, it was already out and ready for us to grab. We ordered the sashimi deluxe and 3 other rolls. Their rolls were good but we could tell that some of the sashimi was frozen and thawed. I would probably not be back for a while since we have been trying new spots in the area, but they have solid rolls. Would love to try it more fresh sitting down. read more

Absolutely love this sushi restaurant! Haven't been in a while because I no longer live near, but I was a loyal customer here for years. Their sashimi is fresh and delicious. More importantly, they have some of the best rolls in the area. The thing I would say they are best known for is exceptional sauces. If you love a good sushi roll that doesn't require soy and wasabi, this is the place to go. Their roll menu is inventive, fun, and delicious. It was a busy weekend and a little bit longer than usual wait to pick up phone in/to-go order, but I'm very thankful that Kaki's open and that they're busy (I hope) with business. Makes me happy. If I ever need to stop and get food again on the way back from the bay area, I think this place is going to be one of my go to "get off the road because you're hangry" places. Services wise, they were very attentive. I was out all day, and my girl friend and I were pretty much eating all day. This was the best customer service that we had all day. Came back and checked on us a lot, refilled my water quite a few times, and constantly checked to make sure everything was okay and if we wanted to order more. It felt good to have someone check in. The sushi was good. Nothing over the top, but the 2 that I wanted to try really hit the mark. The big thing to me with sushi, is the rice to roll ratio. Honestly, this needs to be a thing. The amount of rice here was so thin, it was great. I want fish. I want to taste the fish. and this place really hits that mark. It's not too much rice for the size of the roll, and I really appreciate the fact that it's like this here. It's also honestly a way to get you to eat more. If I could have, I probably would have ordered another roll or 2, but we were on a bit of a time crunch, but next time, I'll be getting more. read more

More like a 4.5 but only taking out half a star because I think the sauce is ALMOST there for some things. My favorite is the seafood yaki udon. The seafood yaki udon is everything! Very filling and a good amount of seafood. Absolutely delicious! The sauce is a bit sweet so if you don't like that I would recommend a different dish. I also suggest getting the grilled squid. I love how the body is grilled with teriyaki but the tentacles are tempura. So you kind of get the best of both worlds. I just wish they had a mayo or a aioli dressing. The sushi is very fresh as well and the rolls are big but the sushi rice could use some more vinegar. Service is so nice! I was so happy with everything that I already made a reservation for my cousins birthday this weekend. We're always going out for sushi and this place is definitely in my top 3. read more

I've been here twice (dine in) and the sushi is good but damn they sure do know how to make you uncomfortable. They will legit stare you down while you're eating and because there's a mirror facing towards the table where u can see the chefs in the kitchen even when you're not actually looking at them staring you down all you can see from your peripheral vision in the mirror while sitting at the table is them staring. Stumbled upon this place since I was craving some sushi and bento box! I got the orange blossom roll and it was really good. I also love the presentation of the roll! Definitely my go-to spot for sushi in Dublin. Great quality for great prices. I normally get the Chirashi for takeout (~$18) and it's pretty filling for one person. Comes with an assortment of sashimi, tamago, rice, seaweed salad. Fish quality is great (I can tell because the tuna isn't "fishy"). I've tried several of their rolls for takeout, always great. Would probably rate this place 5-star if it wasn't for my recent experience dining in. We were sat down and then we waited 15m to be asked for drinks and our order. They ran out of Toro and Unagi sashimi, so I got the Tako and was pretty disappointed. Very chewy and the rice fell apart when I picked it up. My family all wanted sushi for dinner, but no one wanted to go out. The Kaki Sushi Special (large) was perfect for us. It was packed nicely in a large tray for takeout. We enjoyed the variety of sashimi, sushi, and four rolls. The fish was fresh and the rolls were pretty good. I came in with a friend couple weeks before and the rolls we ordered we're filling. This time around I came alone and tried their nigiri deluxe on a Thursday night. Service was prompt. I sat at the sushi bar. It wasn't cleaned as there was dust on the top and bottom of the place I was sitting at. The waitress quickly took my order down and came back with salad and miso soup. I ended up saving the salad so I can alternate cleaning my palette with the pickled ginger when the omakase and Lion King Roll came. The Lion King Roll was served in foil. Fish was thick on top which is great. I actually loved the Roll than the omakase. The omakase or nigiri deluxe was lacking. It was just fish on top of rice. No wasabi or sauce that was applied. I thought that the pieces would have their own sauce for different taste but that was not the case. I had to use the soy sauce and wasabi to make my own for the nigiris. The nigiris themselves tasted okay. All one biters. Cuts were not that thick and I felt like the fishes tasted not so fresh and some were really chewy and some were so-so. They do give desserts in the end and I'd reccomend the green tea. Always nice to end with ice cream. read more

This place is definitely for the Roll lovers. The food is a solid 3.5 for us but we caved at complimentary dishes and great attentive service ending this at a 4 star review! I called and asked if it was busy and if they could accommodate for 8 and was told no problem. Came in and got seated right away! Nice! We were given kid plates and forks and complimentary miso soup before ordering. Food came out quick. (Rolls/noodles/appetizers) On to the taste of the food, freshness of rolls was just average and as expected, noodles were on the sweet side which we weren't anticipating. We received complimentary fried fish - tempura style. At the end of it all, complimentary scoop of ice cream (mango or green tea) - who doesn't like that? Woot woot! Service was on point! My parents and I have been long time regulars at Kaki because the fish quality is absolutely amazing. The chefs and owners are incredible as well! We visited the restaurant last week for its limited capacity reopening, and it was one of the best sushi experiences we've had -- you get the conversation and the quality of omakase but without the crazy pricing. Our group sat at the bar, and the chefs never stopped with the fish. Some of our favorites were the toro, oysters, bluefin tuna, hirame, and salmon. They had unfortunately run out of uni that day, but from my previous experience, their uni is also incredibly fresh and sweet. Additionally, the staff and chefs have been very diligent with sanitation. The chefs all wear masks and wash their hands between making every roll, and the servers wear face masks and clear face shields. Each group is also well distanced from the others. Also major shoutout to chef Kenny, Eric, and the owner! They let us order some items that didn't exist on the menu, and their recommendations were also excellent. read more

I remember stumbling upon this sushi restaurant around 8:00pm with my gym mates after our Jiu Jitsu class. We were tired, hungry, and was SO stoked when we found this place. Not only did they have late hours, but also amazing quality sushi. The location is fairly convenient for me. It's about 5 minutes away in each direction, from where I live and where I go to the gym at. I would say I frequent this restaurant at least once a month. The staff members and chefs here are super friendly. They always greet me whenever I come by to dine in. During covid, they still greet you if you're only stopping by to pick up food togo. This shows you how much they care about the customers. The restaurant is also up kept and they've followed all protocols concerning covid, so I'm not worried about their cleanliness at all. The sushi here is not overly high quality per say, but it's good quality. The pricing is standard, about $12/13 per roll and my only complaint would be that the portion aren't big enough! Haha. A meal for two can cost between $40-50. I normally order 1 Santa Rita roll, 1 Orange Blossom roll, and 1 Aloha roll. If it's just an order for me, it still comes out between $20-25 and my order would be 1 California roll, 1 salmon hand roll, and 1 orange blossom or orange head roll. So for the convenience and price, this is my go-to sushi place in town. read more

So this is my buddy's and his wife's go to local sushi spot. I was invited one evening, so I didn't do a lot of the ordering since I knew they had a better feel for the spot. Initial observations: It is Korean owned/ran. Very nice and organized crew. Menu is at least 10 pages with lots of pictures. 6 pages are devoted to rolls. Make what you want out of that info. Strong local support showing established customer base. They staff well, so things come out quick and timely. Said staff also is very service oriented. Very social for Asian standards. Which is why my buddy is very loyal to this spot, everybody knows each other's name. Foods Tried: Sashimi Platter ($25/16 piece/4*)Fish quality is very good. Firm, fresh and no sinewy pieces. Sliced on the heftier side, but good knife skills. Very standard offerings but I anticipated that. Still solid. Poke Roll ($10/4*) Not really a spicy tuna advocate, but this was well constructed. Tightly wrapped with a healthy dose of seaweed salad on top to give it another dimension. Spicy Scallop Nigiris(4*) Again not really my thing but my friend' loves things with a spicy edge. The scallops were chopped into nice chunks, and even though covered in the spicy mayo sauce, still seemed quite fresh. Nothing "fishy" here. Saba Nigiri ($4/4*) This is the one thing I did order for myself to see what their cure was like. It was a bit over cured as it seemed to have a cooked texture, versus raw. Strong vinegar presence also. But still quite enjoyable and very value oriented. I have a feeling this area isn't too familiar with this fish/prep. So the food was liked by all and well executed. The service was at the same, if not even higher level. We ordered a bottle of sake to sip on. And every once in a while, my friend would pour a shot for the sushi chef, and we all toasted. After our bottle the chef opened a small bottle of soju, to toast and share with us. Very hospitable, it felt like you were in someone's dinner party. Which then totally made sense to me on why this is my buddy's go-to spot for a sushi outing. Even though it was my first time here, I left feeling like a long time customer. The reviews on yelp are so positive about their customer service, not in my case. I decided to post the picture to warn others if they were like me, trusted yelp's review. We ordered sashimi dinner on Saturday night, the fish with blood dot is what I get. I asked if this is fine to eat (because I eat sushi almost every week and never get to see this quality), the young server checks and says "yes, it is fine. Sometimes we eat this way." I'm utterly surprised by this response!!! Sorry, I'm not "you". I don't eat same way as you do. I don't eat raw fish with blood dot in it. Anyways, I left out those pieces and at the end, asked more experienced waitress, I got exact same response. But she is smart enough to offer if exchange is needed. Good sushi place and a go to for us now. Generous cuts of fish and most of the time staff is attentive and service is fast. There are times when it is slow service when servers get caught up chatting so that can be frustrating. I think there's better sushi around time like Meiko and Sato but the kids like their bento box here. Their serving of salmon and beef teriyaki in general is frugal in their bento box. I am a big fan of kaki, I have been eating here for about 8 years. It has never disappointed! Last night (7:30pm)I had a bento box from dinner ( Teriyaki salmon and 3 piece sushi). It was delicious and it didn't taste any different. I started feeling incredibly sick around 10:00I felt Nauseous and my stomach was very upset. Through out the corse of the night I had fever and chills. I woke up every hour to go to the bathroom. Vomited 4 times. I till feel dizzy and have a horrible headache. Zensai!!! There is no shortage of complimentary appetizers here at Kaki Sushi - free miso soup, green salad, edamame, vegetable pancake, and fried fish fillet. Instead of the latter, ask if you can have grilled salmon fish bone. It is not available all the time, but it is the better alternative. Nibble away that fish until all that is left is the skeleton! Most of the rolls that we've tried were OK with the Chuck Norris and OMG rolls as the headliners. The Chuck Norris roll has shrimp tempura and avocado topped with salmon, spicy crab, tobiko, and green onion. The OMG roll is filled with crab stick and avocado with spicy tuna and unagi on top. I could have listed a few more but I'm not too thrilled with their crab stick. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with imitation crab if it were shredded and mixed with Japanese mayonnaise. However, rolling a stick of imitation crab inside a sushi roll is not cool. For me, that's cutting corners. After all, how difficult is it to tear an imitation crab? Sushi is an art and half of the overall experience is how the food is plated. This is one aspect where Kaki Sushi needs some help. Their spicy mayo looks too pale and their unagi sauce is a bit translucent. Also, what's up with the green sauce? The colors don't seem to blend well with the presentation. My daughter gave the Kid's Choice Award to the Beef Yaki Udon. This is actually one of the better stir-fried noodles that we have tasted. Special mention went to the free ice cream at the end of the meal. How could I disagree with her? read more
