Chai tea latte was excellent as was the Americano and drip Kona. Tried the breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheddar cheese on a bagel. (By the way, you're on an island about 5000 miles from New York so if you feel the need to compare don't bother stepping inside) The sandwich was very good. Filling and flavorful with a nice house sauce. On another visit the Kam 3 was a take home recipe. Choice of bagel with cream cheese and a slice of tomato, cuke slices and red onion. Great flavors from veggies that compliment one another. A little salt and pepper brought out each one. I asked for toasted but they didn't. And maybe slice the cucumber a bit more thinly. The cafe has changed ownership since our last visit two years ago. Stopped in today for a quick bite of lunch. Ordered the quiche Lorraine and chicken pot pie. We had a bit of a wait, but our food was piping hot and the crust was crisp and delicious. The quiche was good, but I prefer eggy over cheesy. But what it lacked in egginess, it *more* than made up for with the crust, which was buttery and flaky. The awesomeness of the crust was more apparent in the chicken pot pie. My husband, bless him, gave me a generous bite of the crust. HEAVEN! Both came with a small green salad, which was much needed to cut through the richness of the entrees. The owner was very nice and I recommend giving Kalia's a try if you're in the neighborhood. read more

This cute cafe had plenty of parking and a small line that went quickly. The service was friendly and everything we ordered came out correct and quickly. It's counter service with a few tables both inside and outside, self serve water and coffee. We ordered the white rock bagel, a plain bagel with cream cheese, and an everything bagel with tomato and capers. The white rock bagel was delicious and loaded with sausage and egg, a really great value. The other bagels weren't quite as toasted as I would have liked, but maybe I didn't order correctly. I'm used to bagels being toasted by default. Overall, a great little breakfast spot in Kihei that is a good value for a casual breakfast or brunch. read more

I recently spent some time here and ordered the breakfast burrito, and egg muffin. Both were super tasty, but they also were not super heavy. I felt much better eating these than any other burritos that I had eaten in the past. I've also come here before to get the sugar beach and purple volcano. It's super tasty and strongly recommend it as a delightful and refreshing dessert! Lastly, the staff are super encouraging and very easy to get along with . My first time at Kaila cafe, the ambiance is very cute. There's indoor and outdoor seating. There's a good variety of sweet and savory food options as well as a great list for drinks. I was pleased to see so many different types of tea! I got the hibiscus lychee tea which was great, not too sweet but the perfect amount. I got the bagel with egg and cheese, it was pretty standard. The employees were very friendly as well. My total was around $24 which is a little pricey for a bagel and tea but the price you pay for paradise! We were in Kihei for vacation for about a week and a half and discovered this place. I got totally hooked on their chocolate macadamia nut drip coffee and we ended up buying some to take home. The staff is nice, totally friendly, and it's a big bright space with items from other local vendors for sale. Definitely will be back when we get back to Maui. read more

The staff were very kind and welcoming. They did seem a little flustered though with the amount of orders coming in and with their machines not working. This might have been exacerbated considering it was a Saturday morning. We were understanding and patiently waited for our order; staff said it will be about 5-7 minutes for three drinks but ended up being 20 minutes. Hiring more staff may be helpful in this situation. We got three drinks for $30 ($26 for items + $4 tip): vanilla oat milk latte, freeze, and a hibiscus lychee tea. The first drink was ordered at a 16 oz size, but came out in a 12 oz. There also didn't seem to be vanilla in the drink. We didn't want to wait for them to correct the order so we just accepted the drink. The second drink was fairly good but slightly bitter considering it's more like a Frappuccino. The last drink was good and no concerns there. Overall, the staff were very kind and welcoming. Hiring more staff may be helpful in the timeliness of orders and with the quality control of the items. I would come once more in order to determine if this first experience was just a fluke. Gotta try everything at least twice to make a more accurate review. Maui born and raised so definitely wanna support small Maui businesses as best as can! read more

The food was outstanding. We had a patty melt and a bubble waffle, and both were amazing. The patty melt came with a side salad. The sandwich itself had a burger patty, caramelized onions, and cheese on the inside. Meanwhile, the bubble waffle was light and delicious! The interior was very cute, and there is seating on the inside (air conditioning or fan made the temperature comfortable) and the outside. Additionally, there is free water distributed in cups on the side. Greatly enjoyed my experience, and I hope to come back in my time here. read more

Affordable quality food for breakfast right by the beach, would recommend! We ordered the BLT on Maui sweet onion bagel ($7.99) and the Keawakapu breakfast bagel without lettuce on cheese bagel ($8.59). Stopped by this gem just before 8am since it was walking distance from our resort. Didn't expect to love it as much as I did! My partner ordered a breakfast panini and I got a Charley Young bagel (Lox, Cream Cheese, Tomato, Red Onion and Capers). Both were solid and the perfect breakfast before snorkeling. My bagel came with a little slice of pineapple too, which I thought was really cute haha. We had a sip of our friend's vanilla latte and had to get back in line to order one ourselves because it was that good. Coffee was strong, flavorful and not too sweet. Their menu is quite large so it was a little overwhelming for me, but that just means there's more delicious food to choose from. I wouldn't recommend this place. I ordered 2 Americanos, a breakfast burrito and a breakfast panini. When I got my coffees I went to put milk, there wasn't any milk in the counter, when I asked for milk the lady brought me one from the refrigerator expired, when I asked if she had anything else not expired her answer was: it's okay, is not sour, and all of them are like that Then we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get our food. The breakfast burrito was a joke, super small, and the breakfast panini was a little bit better, the bread was good but I could tell it was frozen eggs. We spent $56 dollars, not worth it, and we are definitely not coming back. read more

Our favourite coffee shop in Maui, we had discovered this gem a few years ago and loved it and it was the first place we went on our first full day in Maui to get our morning chai tea latte this year. We went every day of our holiday that they were open. Friends of ours joined us and loved the coffee and iced coffees. Its a must stop for everyone. Their homemade breakfasts sandwiches are amazing. The BLT bagel is a must. The biscuits and gravy seemed to be a big seller. I can't wait until next year to go back again. I always try to support local and this is a great local family run business. The best part about this business might be the staff, they're all so friendly and welcoming. From beginning to end, this place was plain bad. Called them up because their hours online are different from yelp and from their voicemail. Super rude girl answers the phone gives a short "yeah". Really wanted a bagel so I placed an order online anyways. I'm not even sure my bagel was toasted? They also forgot the sprouts that I paid extra for. The $2 "avocado" add on was no doubt from a plastic container, almost guacamole. Really hard to mess up a bagel, but this place really did it for me. I would have have been nicer in this review if the women that were in there were friendlier or had an ounce of customer service, but they were more interested in their conversations behind the counter than customers coming in. Cafe at La Plage offers great coffee options, grab-n-go breakfast and lunch items, and combinations that you likely haven't seen all at an extremely reasonable price. We stopped in before we embarked on the drive to Hana. I got the blended ice coffee drink (it was magical) and a Maui sweet onion bagel, the wife got a hot coffee and much to my dismay shared some of my bagel. The bagel with the artichoke cream cheese from the Ange et Demon was just spectacular. Just the right amount of chew and crispiness from being toasted to perfection and the Maui sweet onion was something I had not had on a bagel before. The combination was just very enjoyable and it rivals some of the best bagels I've had stateside. The blended coffee drink is a Hawaii thing, apparently and while it was a bit sweet for my taste it was still very tasty and didn't last very long at all. It had some local chocolate blended into the iced coffee and cream mixture giving it the feel of a better frappucinno from $tarbuck$. It was more airy, less sugary, and had enough caffeine to bust me out of my morning fog. The storefront is nothing special but has that homey, island vibe when you walk past the regulars and locals that gather out front every morning. The workers are super friendly and love to talk about what they have special that morning or recommendations based on your typical selections or tastes. No matter what you order here, I have a feeling you can't go wrong. And this is food that could be served at a sit-and-wait kind of establishment but it meant to provide those of us on the go with a great option without sacrificing taste or variety. When we make it back to Maui we will definitely stop in again. If you are staying there, this may be the breakfast place to make it to! read more
