Ate here today for lunch and dinner by myself after work as a temporary summer substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 361 Q. I had ordered and ate the deep fried pork belly as an appetizer, sisig pork as an entree and halo halo for dessert and to go with a side of garlic rice that it had tasted really good, delicious and amazing. The service there was also attentive, super fast and pleasant. I couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

Palabok Overload. Noodles were flavorless and calamari was not crispy.

I've had Filipino food before at a few other Filipino restaurants and it was pretty good so recently, I was craving their food again. I came across this place in Queens which had good reviews. However, I was extremely disappointed by the food. The yelp reviews said the Palabok Overload was good, but even though it had a little bit of everything, it tasted so plain to me. There are thick noodles below all the toppings and you're supposed to mix the shrimp sauce into the noodles. But even with the mixing, the noodles unfortunately still tasted flavorless. The calamari were also limp, not crispy. We also ordered the pork sisig which came sizzling hot on a plate. The pork sisig was slightly too salty, but manageable when eating it together with the garlic rice. The third dish we ordered was the Laing which was taro leaves sautéed in coconut milk. It was something different so I wanted to try it out, but it didn't taste good to me at all. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. My bf didn't like it either. Maybe it's an acquired taste? We ended up taking it home to not waste food, but then sadly, we ended up tossing it out which I'm not too happy about. I hate wasting food! Also FYI, even though the Laing is listed under "Vegetable" dishes, it actually came with slices of pork on top. The staff was super friendly and attentive, but the food was unfortunately below average. Maybe their other dishes are better? After we got seated, more people came and it was a full house. It seems to have some popularity especially with Filipinos, but the food here just wasn't for me.

The intestines in the barbecue platter were quite savory; the pork had a great sauce but was somewhat salty; needed to be complemented by the dip as well as the rice. The bam-i had an alluring aroma and a bevy of different textures; definitely needed some acidity from the lemon to balance the heaviness. The lechon belly was extremely crunchy; fried well, it needed the vinegar to cut through the fat. The taro leaves were delicious and but eventually felt quite filling, given the thickness of the coconut milk. Expected a hearty meal; indubitably needed a long walk afterwards.

Food was great! The kamayan costed us 50 per person (4 people) without tax and tip. I think it's a pretty good deal for the amount of food you get. We ended up taking two full containers to go for our next meal. You have to book this in advanced so the wait was very minimal, just for set up. Ordered a sisig on top and it's always my go to, this restaurant makes it the best. The interior of this place is very small, so it would be best to call in advance.

I recently I recently stopped in to try this place after our family recommended it. First impression, bustling and busy with us having to wait for about 25 minutes ( a good sign no doubt!) When they did call us to come sit, the server Marvin was very nice and he quickly took our orders and was trying to make sure he helped everyone seated. We ordered the lumpia, palobok, the chicken skins, Sigsig and halo-halo. Marvin did forget to put in the Sigsig, but we were also unable to wait so we could try it. The food was good overall, the flavors were there. If I am in back in Woodside Queens, maybe I would try this place again because they had plenty on their menu that I would like to order. I would also call ahead to see if there was a wait. This is on street parking as well.

I had the pleasure of trying this spot tonight with my cousin and I can honestly say its the best Filipino food I have had in the area. My cousin loves this place too and she recently moved here a few years ago from the Philippines and this spot reminds us of home! We had the lechon kawali, kare kare with garlic rice, pancit bihon and iscrambol. Everything was a 10/10. My favorite was the kare kare, one of my favorite Filipino dishes. It was so rich and authentic! I am also happy to report that there are a lot of tofu options for vegetarians. I can't wait to come back and try other items, especially their silogs for breakfast and sinigang! Service was really fast because it wasn't too busy and everyone is polite. 100% will be back

Food was delicious! Starting from our Chicharon Bulaklak, to the pork adobo which had some banging was so fall off the meat (no bones). The pansit palabok had lumpia on top and the sauce so delicious. You can have it as a complete meal. We also ordered the pork chops with their special sauce. It was not a Filipino dish if I may say so, but delicious as well. I certainly would like to go back!

Went there with a group of my Filipino friends to celebrate one of their bdays. One of them said to me that there are a bunch of Filipino restaurants in the area, but he thought Kalye Bistro was the best one (in the area). The seating area of the restaurant is pretty small, yet very cozy. One can pretty much see it all (minus the kitchen) at first glance upon entry. We reserved a table for 5 and were surprised by the largest table in the place. The food; I should start by saying that I have NO background of what traditional Filipino food is/should be. Heard about it plenty over the yrs, but this was my first time trying how Filipinos actually eat. My friends ordered everything. The only thing I chose was my beverage, Calamansi Juice... I liked it, could have guessed it was like "Kumquat juice"? I was very surprised by my friends telling me that there are NO Filipino sodas (pop). OK, back to the food... I felt it was all very good! Can't say that I did not like a single thing ordered. My favorite was the Fried Chicken skin... said jokingly that's almost like cheating! How could you go wrong with the best part of a chicken + frying it?! Everything, for me, had a touch of foreign (in a good way). Guess the only thing that could have been out of my westerner's comfort zone was a "shrimp paste" that came with a dish which was reminiscent of curry (with fried pork chunk, yum!). The soup they ordered was quite tasty (although for me it did not provide the "comfort food feel that it did for my friends). Our server was very nice and attentive. I felt it was very good value for what you pay.

The pork sisig was very fatty, savory, and went perfect with rice and a glass of calamansi juice! The lumpia was a STAND OUT! Please get it. The filling was perfectly juicy and salted. The lechon was unfortunately a little too fatty and the skin not crispy enough- you can do without. Service and ambiance was great! I went on a Thursday afternoon and we had the place to ourselves. It was small so I could see it filling up.

I was here with one of the other groups I am part of around a month ago. We shared a bunch of dishes and enjoyed it. The portion sizes are slightly smaller compared to some other spots but I would say the flavor of at least a few of the dishes were better. To drink I had their melon juice which is cantaloupe juice. They uniquely combine theirs with milk which I wasn't expecting but it worked pretty well and the price was pretty reasonable though I would say that outside of the many pieces of melon on top, there wasn't enough cantaloupe flavor otherwise (maybe a better mix of melon and milk would work better.) Soon arriving were the "Shanghai" or rather Lumpia Shanghai ($12) consisting of crispy eggrolls with pork and vegetable with sweet and sour sauce. They were smaller than most almost looking like mini lumpia but surprisingly well flavored. Maybe because they were thinner but I found them less oily than other spots and I could taste the filling better. From the appetizer section also was the Lechon Kawali (same price/$12) or deep fried pork belly. Similarly well prepared, they had a perfectly nice fry also not being too oily with a good crunch and some softness and they are one of the better ones I've had in recent memory. All of the main dishes below came with rice. We substituted most with garlic rice/sinangag which is reasonably only a buck more and it was pretty good. I prefer it being cooked more with the garlic oil but there was a reasonable amount of fried garlic on top and it was still well flavored. They also uniquely have Binagoongan/bagoong rice or rice cooked in shrimp paste which I presume is also a dollar more as it's the same price as the garlic rice on the menu. I was very tempted to order it as an extra. Soon arriving was one of the main dishes; Palabok Overload ($13) with rice noodles with shrimp sauce, crushed pork rinds, hard boiled eggs. This was one of the larger dishes we got and pretty reasonable for the price. I couldn't have much of it as I believe there is some squid in there but the noodle I tried was a bit gummy and the sauce was tad too sweet. It was alright in short. A bit better was the Pork Sisig ($15) or chopped pig face with bagnet (fried pork belly,) lemon and an egg on a sizzling platter. The mix of pork was nice and perfectly cooked though but it definitely could have been a bit more spicy and more seasoned compared to other spots. Rounding out or pork centric meal was the Crispy Pata ($19) or deep fried pork knuckle served with a dipping sauce. As with every other fried dish, it was perfectly fried and of course very meaty. This was the best pata I've had in recent memory though I wasn't surprised with the other pork dishes being perfectly cooked. This is a little home style Filipino spot that definitely satisfied our cravings. It wasn't the best Filipino food I've had but in particular they really do know how to fry pork well and the fact of the majority of the dishes we had were among the best I've had of their type kind of inflates rating even if the prices could be a bit lower compared to the portion sizes. Very solid little spot. Mid 4.

Small restaurant. But they were able to accommodate my party of 14! Thanks!

Once or twice a year, my foodie friends and I love to go to a Filipino restaurant to order mostly pork dishes. We call this our annual (or if we're feeling extra piggish, semi-annual) "Porktastic" dinner! In past years, we've gone to Ihawan, Tito Rad's and Kusina Pinoy Bistro. This time, Porktastic was held at Kalye Bistro! Even though the restaurant is small, they were able to accommodate my party of 14! Thank you! Reservations recommended for large parties, as we took up most of the restaurant. MENU (shared by 4 ppl): ~ Lumpia Shanghai: good but they were on the small side. ~ Lechon Kawali: these were delicious; skin was perfectly crispy. ~ Pork Sisig: this was very good but we've had better. ~ Crispy Pata: this is probably our fave dish of the night. Get this! ~ Palabok Overload: our token noodle dish to offset our all pork dinner! lol ~ Garlic Rice: $1 more for garlic rice vs plain rice. Worth it! In general, portion sizes were smaller than your typical Filipino restaurant. Service and Hospitality were fantastic! Their attention to detail were greatly appreciated, and made our Porktastic dinner a hit! Thank you!

Very delish Filipino spot in town!! They make amazing palabok - no wonder they call it the palabok overload! However, I'd pass on the sisig, never had a wet version of sisig and I'm not a fan. We also love the pork kare kare too!

The place has changed a bit, slightly different decor from the last time we were there. The atmosphere was more "bakya" than Kabayan (from across the street). Still nice. They kept the bar, which is good. The staff was friendly, but kind of rushed us to get our orders before the show started. They explained it would have been more difficult to take orders later. The food was really, really good. All the flavors were on point. For the appetizer, we had some Crispy Chicken Skins. It was nice and crispy, but it needed some more salt. We had the Port Belly Kare-Kare, Beef Salpicao, the Pancit Palabok, Laing and Gambas. The one that stole the show was the Bagnet. That was mind blowing! Very flavorful and I highly recommend it. The chicken barbecue sticks were flavorful and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the lumpia Shanghai didn't quite hit the mark for me :( it tasted like it was fried in older oil, and the filling was very minimal, so it felt like mostly wrapper. I was most excited to try the pork sinigang. While the broth had good flavor, the pork didn't taste freshly cooked and came across as if it may have been made a day or two prior. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this place and the friendly service, which makes me hopeful that my next visit will be better. I'd definitely be open to giving it another try.
