Drove out of my way to try this spot out as it looked delicious from what I've seen on social media and I just enjoy trying different ramen spots all over the Bay Area. Got the Tonkotsu with white garlic, chasu, and mild spicy and it was delicious! However, the service was so nonexistent, it was actually comical. Came in to an empty restaurant, and was not greeted for 10 minutes. I was going to leave, but I figured since I already drove all the way out here, I was going to get my ramen. As I was waiting, I got the genius idea of trying to call their business phone and then the waitress finally came out after 2-3 minutes of ringing! After receiving the delicious bowl of ramen, I did not see her again until I rang the business' phone a second time just for her to come out and give me my check. $0 tip vibes all around. TBH, just the fact that I had to call the business I was eating in under the guise of online ordering just to get someone to basically greet me, take my order, and give me check was hilarious. We use to frequent this spot quite a bit pre Covid. This was our first time back in years and it was good but not like we remember it from way back when. With the weather finally starting to get cold, my partner and I were craving soup. We decided on Ramen and since it had been a while we decided to revisit our old spot. At first bite, I was instantly disappointed. It wasn't hot. Admittedly, I'm one of those people that like my food hot enough to burn the inside of my mouth. Particularly with soup. This wasn't even close. To make matters worse when I bit into the egg it was still slightly cold in the middle. Boyfriend said the same thing about his egg. I've never experienced that anywhere with ramen. The broth itself was ok. Not as creamy as I like but decent. It would've been loads better if it was served hot. Some of the noodles in my bowl were still clumped together, not completely separated. We also ordered pork gyoza, chicken wings, and maguro nigiri. Maguro Nigiri was delicate and excellent. The gyoza was delicious but texturally it would've been way better if they had been pan fried longer. These had no crisp to them. Like they were rushed. The chicken wings were done in a lollipop style and they were definitely not pan fried as the menu had suggested. They tasted like they were dipped in tempura batter and deep fried. Not what we expected but interesting and good. They came served with the tiniest ramekin of what tasted like a sriracha mayo. Not bad but we honestly needed like 3 more of those. Not joking. And just a bit of advice to the staff, maybe put the dipping sauces in bowls that are wide enough to accommodate the food that is being dipped inside. With both the gyoza and the wings the ramekins were so tiny you couldn't dip the actual item inside. Instead you had to pour it on or use a spoon to drizzle. The staff here was pretty nice. They were helpful with our son which I always appreciate. They use to have 2 sides to the dining room back in the day but the night we were there I think one room was closed for dining and reserved for take out orders. I don't know if that's how it usually is but if this is the case then the dining room is pretty small. Fortunately we arrived very early so we beat the crowd. By the time we left it was a full house. I like how you can pick the soup base and then protein of choice so it was a choose your own adventure style experience. The pork belly were a bit overcooked - not tender but fortunately not tough either. The half egg was also a little overcooked too. We had a weird experience where we both ordered the same thing, outside of chashu and pork belly, and ended up with different flavor broth. I recommend not getting any spicy level because mild completely overpowered the broth. The lady was very nice. Ordering and paying was easy outside of the QR not working for Android (website loads but no option to pay). We went to Coco's Ramen on a Friday afternoon, and the place was completely empty...not sure if that's a good sign. The waiter/owner was very nice and polite. We both got the Chashu ramen, but unfortunately, the "meat" was mostly fat with very little actual meat. You can customize your bowl (broth, spicy level, type of meat). I'm finally writing a review because they have a new chef. The server told us we were the first to order this new dish! It's an otoro, uni and ikura don with some pickled carrots. I'm not sure what they used to pickle the carrots but it matched the butter flavor of the rest of the items in the bowl. I feel like although it wasn't a large amount, it was still presented well, delicious, and a fairly good deal. The uni was some of the best I've tried. If you've never tried this place, come by. They have a curry broth which I had not seen before coming to Coco's Ramen; my first visit I ordered the curry ramen + medium spice + pork belly + fresh garlic , and added corn. Noodles were nicely chewy, and the portion was perfect. 5/5! my most recent visit: my aunt got the curry ramen with pork-belly after I recommended it, & my uncle ordered seafood ramen (as he cannot consume pork). I tried the Shio broth this time, with fatty pork and corn as well. I personally prefer their curry ramen but the shio ramen was less heavy and very satisfying still. My uncle said the clams in his seafood ramen were veryy good, and my aunt had finished her curry ramen when we were still halfway through the shio & seafood ramens lol Other notables! The Hamachi Kama was delicious as well with a very smooth and buttery texture, 5/5! Coco's Never disappoints with their flavorful ramen. Usually the service is spot on. But on our last visit it was pretty bad. There only seemed to be two waitresses, which normally might be good, but on a busy night it was not enough. Our waitress disappeared for long stretches of our meal. I literally had to wave my hand at her to get her attention, more than once. However the food was as tasty and satisfying as always. Rich broth, a hearty amount of topping and the noodles cooked perfectly. I love this place, so I'm hoping the service was just a fluke. The place was a little chaotic, and crowded. We had a disappointing experience at Coco's tonight. The food was not seasoned properly, we got charged $16 for the plain noodles with broth we had indicated we were ordering for our 5 year old, and they never brought us the seaweed salad we ordered. On the positive side, our waitress was polite and friendly. My husband's "mild" chicken ramen was in fact quite spicy, and both my miso soup and grilled chicken (that came with my curry rice) were overly salty. I also wish they had informed us we'd be charged for a full meat ramen when we ordered plain noodles for our 5 year old - the $16 price tag was a bit outrageous for what we got. The fact my spinach salad came in a disposable paper bowl was also startling and unexpected. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner, despite it being busy. One or two I think is acceptable, but I counted at least four individual bugs before giving up. I have trust issues with floating black specs now... You can tell they take time in creating some good dishes, we order gyoza and it was apparent they are in house made compared to other places that are frozen or store bought. They were jam packed with meat and veggies, lightly oiled. Ramen has options of spice level, garlic, and type of meat. I have tried mild spice and spicy both okay for me who usually cannot do any spice. If you show up or order online after 4pm, you can also order from there Sushi location next door. We have not had the opportunity to try but all the friends we know, rave about there sushi as well. We are excited to have such a great neighborhood spot for some delicious comfort food. read more

Some friends and I went to the Kite Festival at Candlestick Park, and although they had some food there, we were craving some Ramen. We found Coco's to be a halfway point from Hunter's Point to The Haight so we stopped by. The location is so great, there was parking pretty easily but its along Mission so there's so many ways to get here and in between or a few blocks away from bars and other spots. We were greeted friendly and were instructed to scan a QR code for menus. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of e-menus but I totally get it. The menu is a bit overwhelming in terms of options. Not a bad problem to have but definitely made the process take a bit longer. Ultimately we ordered what we came for, Ramen. My Ramen was great. I got Curry Ramen with Pork Belly and Fried Tofu. I ordered kimchi on the side and Takoyaki. The ramen had a lot of flavor, the noodles were well prepared. The star of this dish for me was the Pork Belly which had SO much flavor and complexity. Honestly my jaw dropped when I tried it because it was just so good. I wish my ramen had more of it inside. Also keep in mind that their spice levels are very straightforward - medium is medium spicy and spicy is spicy. Big portions, I brought some home for later. Just about everyone in my party was so happy with their food but one of my friends ordered Shoyu ramen and was quite disappointed. I tried the broth and agreed that it was rather of an odd flavor for Shoyu, it tasted a but fishy and stale. Overall, Coco's Ramen is a beautiful restaurant. Great people, from what I experienced. The noodles were cooked well, had a good texture + mouth feel, and just enough flavor to pass. Better than your grocery-store frozen section, nothing to write home about. (4.1/10) Broth: A watery curry broth. Probably a 80% broth 20% curry mix. The curry flavor was faint. The broth's consistency was mostly liquid. Could have definitely used a larger scoop of curry-base. The standard pork + chicken stock broth didn't stand out. Without the curry addition, this broth would have been a bit band. The bowl relies heavily on salt - may be too much for some. (6.2/10) Egg: An above-average ramen egg. A jammy yolk with a slight amount of curdling around the edges. i brought my bff here for a belated birthday dinner. i called and reserved a table, but i question whether they actually took down my name, number, date and party size b/c they just said ok very quickly after i gave the information...a bit odd. i called the day of to push the start time back by 1/2 hour and they said sure, but again, was it written down? hmm... parking was a little tricky, so i needed a few extra minutes to walk over, but when i entered @ 1732 saturday evening, there was NO ONE there, except for the staff! no wonder they didn't seem to mind me pushing my reservation back by 1/2 hour...this was not a busy time for them! score for me and my friend! my bff ordered the tonkotsu ramen, traditional tonkotsu base with pork and chicken stock, with no spiciness ($16). this is/was always her favourite, and she enjoyed every bite, down to the last noodle, with just a little broth leftover. i ordered several appetizers for myself, since i wanted to have a variety of things to eat: 1. edamame: traditional soy bean in the pod, sprinkled with sea salt ($4) 2. nasu dengaku: grilled japanese eggplant with sweet miso ($10) 3. coco's eel: 8 piece roll with tuna and avocado, topped w/eel, mango, crushed peanut and shredded coconut ($16) the edamame arrived first, so i could start filling my tummy with some protein and fiber. i always love a good soy bean with a little bit of salt! to my surprise, the eel roll came second, and was beautifully presented, and i was super excited to try this roll since i never had a roll with peanut & coconut! it was absolutely delicious, savory with just a bit of sweetness in the mango and coconut, and little bit of sweet in the eel sauce. it was garnished so well that i didn't even need to dip my sushi in the soy sauce. the last thing to arrive was the eggplant, i was surprised since this is an appetizer, but when it arrived, i understood why...this took some time to prepare and bake, but it was well worth the wait. this dish was actually very big, i'd call it an entree if you added just a couple of sides! but the blend of sweet miso and spices was just perfect on this otherwise plain vegetable. loved this appetizer! i actually finished everything, minus a few edamame and was absolutely stuffed to the gills...no room for dessert. since it wasn't super busy, we were able to sit there for 3+ hrs, slowly eating, sipping tea & water, and spending time catching up. the waitstaff were very nice and never rushed us, even though we left a bit after closing time (we didn't notice the "end" time on the sign on the front door). overall, a solid ramen and sushi place, and very reasonably priced. i'd definitely return for another meal if i'm in sf again. read more
