Excellent serve and great tasting sushi. I sat at the sushi counter which was nice since I was alone. I had the cowboy roll which is a shrimp tempura roll with a seared old bay shrimp on top. It was good but not really the more authentic sushi taste I was looking for. No discredit to the menu or chef I just felt I probably should have ordered something more traditional. I grabbed an early dinner here last night with a friend. As soon as I entered, I was greeted with smiles by seemingly all of the available staff. I was immediately seated and offered water and other beverages. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, Alaskan roll, and a spicy California roll. All of the rolls were good, but the shrimp tempura was to die for. My friend ordered a chicken bento box which was a great deal. I of course, sampled it, and was very impressed by how flavorful the chicken was. I was pleasantly surprised by my bill since it was way lower than I expected it to be for 4 rolls (less than $30!) Stopped at Kana Sushi for dinner on Saturday. Overall experience was great. The sushi rolls were fresh, delicious and very differnt in flavor from each roll. We ordered the fire fire dragon roll, Kana sushi roll, rainbow roll and spicy salmon with a side of miso soup. All super delicious. The ambiance is simple and calm. We really enjoyed our quick dinner at Kana yesterday. The sushi was fresh and service was quick. We've been trying out a few of the sushi restaurants near our place and this is probably the best we've had in this price range. My husband has the Toro and the Salmon Belly nigiri and he really like how fresh it was. The main seating area by the sushi bar gets a little cold from the draft that comes through the front door, but they have a section of tables further back in the restaurant if that bothers you. There's a small parking lot that had plenty of available spots on a Saturday night. We will definitely be coming back! read more

I found Kana Sushi on yelp and I really enjoyed the sushi. I order the two California rolls, spicy roll combo, kana dragon, maryland crab and love letter rolls. I ordered take out and shared the rolls with my siblings. Spicy Roll combo - spicy California roll, spicy tuna and spicy salmon. This is good when you are in a mood to try different types of spicy rolls. I wished it was a litter spicier. Kana dragon - shrimp tempura with eel on the outside A nice combination. The shrimp tempura was crispy. I usually don't like eel but it was pretty good. It was not fishy tasting or had bones in it. Maryland crab - crab and avocado topped with crab meat and old bay Crab and old bay is always good! The crab tasted fresh and didn't have any shells in it. Love letter - shrimp tempura with tempura flakes and seared salmon on top Love this one! Any roll with shrimp tempura I'm always down to try. This was crispy and had good shrimp flavor. The seared salmon had a buttery taste and melted in your mouth. The salmon was not fishy either. The tempura flakes on top had a nice crunch factor. I would get this again. read more

Sushi is good here! The meat is fresh (salmon mmm) and portions are pretty generous, especially the sashimi. I ordered the sushi sashimi combo and was impressed with the presentation and how much they gave me. Definitely filled me up and was worth my money. My only complaint is that for the nigiri, they put some wasabi in it already. I'm not a big fan of wasabi and would like to have the option to put it in myself. read more

After ordering takeout here twice (and being quite impressed so far), I was able to dine in with my sisters this past weekend and I'm happy to report that Kana Sushi lives up to their positive reviews! The restaurant is located in the Springfield Plaza Center, in between Noodles and Company and Sandwich Republic. We ordered the cucumber appetizer to start, which was basically a roll itself with cucumber substituted for rice (I can already foresee this being a go-to for me because it's a much healthier option than being wrapped around white rice). As for rolls, we ordered the Philly roll, Creamy Shrimp Tempura Roll, the Maryland Crab Roll, and the Spicy Scallop Roll. We were also given 3 individual rolls to try on the house and complimentary cups of miso soup. The sushi rolls were well presented and the fish was fresh! We also ordered the green tea ice cream and green tea mochi for dessert (I love green tea anything!). They have a wide variety of specialty sushi rolls in addition to hot and cold appetizers, sashimi, hand rolls, and a few entrees. Service was attentive and friendly. I love this place! This is my go-to sushi spot that never fails me when I'm in the Springfield area. The staff are the probably the nicest people I've met and everything on the menu is great. My favorite and the most bang for your buck is the lunch box. You get so much food that fills you up. I'd recommend trying this place if you've never been before! read more

I've been here 4 times now and thought I should share my hidden secret gem! It's a small no frills sushi and Japanese place. The place sits between Noodles & Co and Sandwich Republic. When you walk in, you're greeted by friendly sushi dudes and a friendly wait staff. It looks fast foodie type but it's actually full service with nice intimate tables in the back. They offer a nice lunch special of sushi and various teriyaki and katsu meals. Their sushi is very reasonable and fresh. They meal portions are quite generous. For the lunch specials, they include salad and miso. It's a nice price for about $10. Dinner portions are definitely much larger and be prepared for carry out boxes. I've seen lots of take-out orders, and have picked up too. Everything is made fresh. I'm glad to see a place local to my home. read more

Kana Sushi is an OK choice for sushi in the Springfield area. I have found their staff to be very friendly, the food to be decent and the location to be easy to get to. The decor is minimalistic and slightly cold compared to other sushi restaurants I have been to. There are several tables up front, some at the sushi counter and more in the back of the restaurant. So, it is definitely a casual environment. They have a variety of specialty rolls. In fact, some are very different from anything I have ever had, so I applaud their creativity. Although I have noticed that some of the flavors of the fish can get muddled down in too much sauce on some of these, some of them are very good. That said, I have noticed that I often end up enjoying the sashimi and nigiri more than the rolls. It is clear they use quality ingredients and the simple presentation really lets the flavor of the fish shine. I also really like that they give you a small bowl of soup to start things off with, actually the first time we ate there they gave us two small complementary pieces of sushi, although they haven't again since... so that might have just been our good fortune that one time. One last thing to note is you should try not to over order here, sadly their sushi rice dries up after even an hour in the fridge. So leftovers are a no go. read more

With so many creative rolls and Japanese dishes to choose from, you'll end up ordering virtually the whole menu! ...Which I may or may have not done before... :X I personally love their cucumber appetizer and spicy salmon roll, but pretty much everything I've ordered has been tasty and unique. What a warm welcome! Employees here are super friendly and attentive. Upon entering, everyone greets you, which is a very nice touch. There is plenty of seating inside. Restrooms are in the back left and are clean. You get a free green tea with a Yelp check-in. Their tempura and sushi are delicious and memorable. You will leave nice and full. This is by far one of my favorite local Japanese restaurant. Parking was tough today on a Thursday afternoon. Upon entering we were given a nice table in the main dining area. I ordered the Katsu meal because I knew their portion would be hearty. This meal did not disappoint. The katsu meal included 2 large pork pieces. The meal included soup and salad. Service was excellent and our food arrived quickly. I can always count on the good quality of food. P.S, we have also ordered sushi platters during special events. I visited this place based on 5/1/16 review with a beautiful picture. My food (identical) did not look that good and there was no extra sauce over it. I enjoyed Japanese beer and sushi was good. Seaweed (nori) was really hard to take apart while chewing - it was rubbery. This was not the cheapest, or the best looking, or largest, or special crunchy addition or sauce flavored meal. After a long, long day of driving Kana Sushi provided a welcome fresh and delicious sushi meal. I'm not one to have Sushi 'on the road' but the solid reviews convinced me to try it. Kana dragon roll is big and delicious! Yellowtail and scallion was small (6 little pieces) but oh so tasty. Sashimi tuna, salmon and salmon belly were all fresh and yummy.
