Their food is good, but their portion is small. I normally have a whole other meal from Thai restaurants, but after some sushi AND my entree, I was left still feeling a little hungry. Their sushi rolls were super small too. The ambiance is really nice though which gave us hope that their food would be amazing. It is located in a strip mall and is fairly small inside. Casual vibe inside, nothing fancy but clean. We ordered sushi, panang curry, massaman curry, duck pad Thai and a shrimp boil. First off, the portions are much smaller than you would get at most any other Thai joint. Normally pad Thai is quite a large serving, but for $21 for duck pad Thai it was quite a small portion. The curries were okay, but only okay. Lacked flavor and salt. The sushi was decent. My mom loved the shrimp bowl. Would I come back? No. There is a better place closer. They have different menu. One is their regular menu and the other is the Thai street food menu. We Thee dishes from the Thai Street Menu. The first dish is the Yum Nam Kao Tod. This is salad dish with sausage, crispy curry rice that fried, peanut. To me, this dish is salty and sour to be eat along. The second dish is Hoy Tod. It s a mussels egg pancake and bean sprouts. It come with the dipping sweet chilies sauce. I like this dish. The third dish is my favorite. Kao Kook Ka Pi. This dish has seven combination items in one dish. The item I like the most is shrimp paste fried rice. I have this as Malay dish. But they carry it. This is the first I have in Tampa Bay. The dish also includes the caramelize pork belly, Thai sweet sausage, egg, onion, apple and string bean. It is well presented. Overall our experience is good. Came here for dinner.. Super friendly waitress who was by herself taking care of all the tables. Best pad Thai I have ever had. We ordered medium in spicy level and was perfect for me. Went here this evening as a group meetup. For 20 of us they were very accommodating and did a great job getting our drinks and food out. The vibe is super cute and very clean. The monster roll was delicious! My red curry had the perfect amount of spice and sweet with an added surprise of eggplant which I was excited about. The pad Thai is a smaller serving than other places but since we had so much other food seemed to be a perfect amount. We would go again if in the area, as everyone's dishes looked beautiful and perfectly prepared. read more

This place is great, following all CDC guidelines and service was friendly. The reason it's 4 stars is I wasn't a huge fan of the Tom Yum... It was just Ok. But the Beef Panang was amazing! Full of flavor, lots of veggies and beef. Ordered it hot, probably could have gone with Thai hot but still lots of nice heat. I will be making my way back to try their sushi and other thai options. I've been craving some good Thai food for a while and boy did Kao Thai Kitchen deliver! Came in here for lunch the other day (see lunch menu pic). I ordered the Pad See Aiw (wide rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, in a sweet soy sauce). The lunch special is such a great deal. You get to pick your protein (Chicken, Pork, Beef, Shrimp, Tofu or Vegetable) and it is served with a fried vegetable roll and salad for under $10! Everything is so fresh and savory. I was so pleased that they did not over Americanize their dishes as I find so many places do. The Pad See Aiw with vegetables (as I ordered) was served steaming hot and delicious. The flavors of the vegetables, noodles, and sweet soy sauce complimented one another wonderfully. The over all ambiance of the place was super cute, clean and welcoming. A bit disappointed. This was my second time ordering. I ordered online around 6 pm. My order was confirmed, and they charged my credit card. Arrived to pick up the food and was told they were closing for the day for Superbowl, and I would have to come back the following day to have my card credited? Located right next door to one of the most overrated Italian restaurant in Tampa Bay makes me want to show them even more love. Magnificently brined chicken wings, curry tuna pasta, homemade coconutty deserts, and rich coffees and teas will keep me coming back for more. While the crinkle cut fries were quite basic, the salty shrimp paste dipping sauce full of sour tang was addictive. Prices are the same as any other Thai restaurant, but the added value is in the atmosphere and unique menu options. Cannot wait to return for more on another date night. read more

My co-workers and I stopped here for lunch a few weeks ago and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had nice dim lighting, we felt cozy and enjoyed the atmosphere. They had a nice selection on their lunch menu and the portions were a good size. We tried the Garden Roll Appetizer which was packed with crisp vegetables and came with a semi spicy peanut sauce. For lunch my friend and I both had the Shrimp Pad See Aiw - Lunch Special. I did not much care of the small salad that it came with but the spring roll was good. The shrimp in the entree were cooked well, we liked the noodles but I did need to add some sauce for more flavor. Another co-worker ordered the Chicken Pad Gra Tiem - Lunch Special. Waitress was very prompt with seating me and getting my menu. I knew right away what I wanted. Spring rolls and Pad See Ew. Both were very good. The Pad See Ew didn't have regular broccoli like I like but the flavor was still super good. Those items and a water with lemon cane in just under $20. Absolutely delish food! My mom had the red snapper and I had spicy Thai hot fried rice and avocado roll. Ingredients were very fresh and nice portion sizes. I sipped on some chardonnay while my order was being prepared. Was my first time here so I had questions. The chef answered them for me as the host waited on other customers. I love these owners/staff! Whether it's traditional Thai or Sushi, we have never been disappointed in our order. We've been taking our food to go since March but now have gone into the restaurant for dinner since they have CDC guidelines perfectly in place. The decorating is understated and COOL and the soft jazz playing in the background completes a perfect time there. Again, everything on the menu is DELICIOUS and we drive across town to go to Kao Thai, as nothing close by compares. read more

We were served raw shrimp in our appetizers when we politely pointed it out the waitress acknowledged it was uncooked and carried it away. A few minutes later returned with the food we had cut up looking to see if it was all raw.... They just threw it in the deep fryer. Note we had eaten off the forks used to cut... gross. Sadly, I really expected more based on the other Yelp reviews. I've been on the search for amazing local Thai food, and had been past here a number of times and was really craving delicious​ Thai food and hospitality. This must have been an off lunch. There was one server and there were about eight tables of people when I arrived. The server was at a table she had just seated when I walked in and she YELLED across the restaurant "ONE?' and put a menu on the table next​ to the table she had just seated. Running around she brought me a small glass of water and came back later with a carafe of water. I ordered the Mussel Basil Bowl - Steamed mussels with basil and their signature seafood sauce. It was seven of the green lip mussels​ that you can buy precooked, frozen and in the half sell in the market. They were warm with a little bit of basil but they were kind of tough. The signature​ seafood sauce was a light vinaigrette​ with Thai green chilis. I also ordered Chicken Tom Kha - Coconut Bisque with red onion, mushrooms, ​and galangal. It was absolutely rich and creamy like a bisque with lots​ of tender chicken, sliced mushrooms and red onions. It had red chili oil floating on the top which added a​​ little heat, but unfortunately​, you could not taste the galangal and it was really very flat. I asked for fish sauce and the server looked at me like I was the first person to ever​ ask for this. The fish sauce added a little saltiness and helped the soup a lot. I was still hungry and decided to order more food. ​Without looking at the menu I ordered Spring Rolls because I saw​ them coming​ out on the lunch combinations. (looking online I don't see them on the menu). An order of four spring rolls with peanut sauce came out pretty quickly. They were crispy and not greasy, the had a like vegetable​ filling but no real flavor. The peanut sauce was thick but pretty good. The lunch specials I saw coming out looked HUGE and most people were packing up part of them. I'm going to chalk this up to a busy lunch and will still give them another chance sometime in the future. read more
