I've been obsessed with this place since I stumbled across it around January 2022. It's a tradition to start at Thai Canteen and walk over to Karma. When it's packed it's difficult to find a place to sit, so plan accordingly. The bartenders are cool. Loved the musician as well. I'm happy they had mulled wine bc this place is the only one that can do it right. LA doesn't it have it. I tell all my SoCal friends who visit NorCal to go to this spot. read more

Ok this place reminds of some of the dive wine bars in SF. That's my favorite kind of place! Love the sangria (no liquor at all in it which is a plus for me cuz I don't drink any liquor) very flavorful. I was brought here on a crawl stop. Staff is good. Drinks were accordingly to the crawl. However, the owner had an attitude towards the patrons and even noticed with his staff. Definitely, he shouldn't have signed up his spot for the crawl. I was going to add to my list of usual spots, but He left a bad taste in our mouths. Sure he doesn't care. If you're looking for a unique bar experience, the cozy, friendly, tasty atmosphere that is Karma Brew is it! I've been here twice, and the drinks plus welcoming bartenders have sealed this place as one of my go-to bars from now on. My friend recommended their espresso martinis and they were amazing, I'm not really a coffee cocktail type of person, but I had a 2nd round, they were so smooth. On the weekends, the owner's nephew aka our bartender for the night, let us know that there is a 2nd story where guests can hang out and enjoy music (I think he said there was a DJ?). I finally had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy a drink at this cool, fun, tiny little spot on the corner of P and 16th. I pass by the place on my way home from work and even though it's small it's eye catching given the location. The bartender was super friendly; he welcomed us in and gave us the run down on what their menu has to offer (basically everything you can imagine). The bestie went with Merlot, I went with the Cadillac Margarita and boy was it smackin'! It's not called a Cadillac for no reason :) we shared the Karma sampler and their hummus was delish! Inside atmosphere is like a blast from the past with all the vintage and antique decor but it all just flows together. I've come here several times and I get the same thing every time. If it ain't broke, right? The espressaretto martini is incredible. Would highly recommend. Friends have also had the kahlua cocoa which was very good, but my heart lies with the espressaretto. Great vibe. Tchotchkes galore cover every wall, and no seat is like any other. Wouldn't say they're the most comfortable chairs, but not a huge deal. Note that they're currently closing around 10, though advertised hours are until 11. Needing to kill some time, I stopped in here yesterday for a drink and hoping to charge my phone, both of which were accomplished. This place is so cool and unique! The guy who helped me was so nice and I had a great time just taking in the eclectic decor and relaxing for a bit. Loved the vibe inside Karma Brew! We were walking back to our hotel after seeing a show at Ace of Spades and noticed this quaint little bar on corner of 16th & P Streets inside this house with a patio full of patrons with a fantabulous view of Fremont Park. It was a little bit chilly for us on this brisk November fall night as we opted for no jackets in the aforementioned venue for our concert and looking to go into someplace to cozy up for a libation. Karma Brew was just the place to entertain us with kitschy, eclectic, unique furnishings throughout while we enjoyed one of the rotating tapped brews for my hubby and my spirit of choice aka Vodka for somewhere to unwind. Karma Brew is one of those warm and inviting places that when you walk in that is chill and perfect for catching up with a friend, romantic date night or just enjoying the outdoor patio to people watch. Look forward to popping in here again to try some of the tapas and the mulled wine that they offer on the cozy outdoor patio. read more

Not TLDR: like everyone else driving through midtown Sacramento off 16th, we always pass this place; usually on the way to the clubs or other foods further down. And like everyone else, I wonder what it is. How is like? It must be good to still be standing amongst other businesses that have come and gone. I've been here twice now. And I don't remember reviewing it last time. So, technically, these are my second time thoughts. Anyways, Karma is a nice little bar that serves good wine, good beer, great cocktails, good food. ALL reasonably priced. You won't go wrong with anything you choose. But if I may, try the Bavik. Its a Czech beer on draft. You can't find it on draft anywhere else. It comes in larger than a pint so be prepared. The park is also situated on the side of the street, so it's very relaxing sitting outside, having a glass of wine/beer, and enjoying the fresh air; especially in the evening at dusk. I've driven by this spot a ton and finally stopped in for a drink! This is a (semi) hidden (in plain sight) gem. The inside has an eclectic, earthy vibe that I enjoyed and their cocktail offerings were super tasty looking. My friend ordered a an espresso martini that was *chef's kiss* and the service was great - we were checked on outside which was thoughtful since we were the only ones out there! Mulled Wine, how is it that I just discovered you last night. This is the cocktail I didn't know I needed in my life. Perfect for cold winter nights in Sacramento, I have tried many hot cocktails like irish coffee and others before, but this one is the best. Nicely balanced, fruity and spiced warm cocktail. Not alot of garnish, but that does not bother me. The most instagramable drinks are not always the best tasting. This one really warms the heart, and I am happy to find a new go-to spot this winter. They had a list of other warm cocktails too, and I cannot wait to try those. Many people on Yelp is raving about the Sangria, so that will be a great drink to try in spring/summer on the patio. I have been wanting to visit this place and finally did with one of my friends. The interiors are great with antiques and gives a very warm feeling and the exterior seatings has good amount of seatings to hangout with friends while sipping on beers and cocktails. I tried clown rose (beer) and my friend tried peach Martini. My beer was ok, probably wud be if served chilled, my friend didn't like her drink, it was totally off and tasted like nothing. I expected better. Food options are limited. I would still recommend this place to hangout with friends and for beers. I will this place another try. read more

For many people size does matter. Especially when finding a big home or a large car. However, sometimes good things come in small packages. "Karma Brew" is no exception as this is one of the tiniest bars that I've ever stepped into. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing by any means. Located directly on the corner of P and 16th St's, this is one of my favorite locations in Midtown Sacramento. Considering you're directly across the street from Fremont Park as well as Starbucks and a new high rise apartment complex, then you are in a prime location. Parking here can be extremely difficult on any given day to the mass amount of people that come to this part of town. So I would highly recommend arriving by foot, bike, or get dropped off through Uber/Lyft. However, I arrived here with a group of people as my lady and our friend came with 12 others as part of the Sac Brew Bike. It was a warm (but not hot) Sunday afternoon in late June. Coincidentally, this was my first time ever visiting Karma Brew as I've passed by this place on numerous occasions. As I mentioned this place is small. However, they utilize every square inch to its full potential. You will notice comfy sofas that are reminiscent of the 1960's, a chessboard, stained glass lamps hanging throughout, quirky vintage artwork, and just an overall rustic feel that gives you that illusion that you've stepped into a time machine. To me, it has a very bohemian feel to it where you can picture a beatnik playing an acoustic guitar. However, if the inside is too small and if you're one of those claustrophobic types, they do offer a few tables and chairs at their outdoor patio. As far as the drinks go, I ended up trying their Weihenstephan "Vitus" beer on tap. Oh my gawd this stuff is amazing! It has the taste of a Hefeweizen but this stuff is on a whole different level combining apricots, oranges, and bananas. My lady and our friend both went with their popular "Sangria" which was an amazingly low $5! Best of all there were generous amounts of fruit and cinnamon to give it a very unique eclectic flavor. Since we were on a limited schedule, we only got to spend about 45 minutes here. I definitely want to make a future visit while giving their food a try. They offer several panini sandwiches, hummus platters, cheese platters, and tapas. Overall, "Karma Brew" is an excellent hole-in-the-wall bar that sets itself from anything else I've ever been to. Who would have figured. they didn't ask for a name, number, or a designated area to get them. 1. Looked like they couldn't handle the work load, more training is required for sure. 3. My friends and I popped into Karma Brew one night for some beers. It's not a super big place but we were able to grab a table in this unique little spot. There is random & crazy stuff everywhere around the bar. It was a pretty fun place to chill out for awhile and look around at things. I have to say, the staff wasn't too friendly. I was kind of surprised because usually places like this have an eclectic, awesome staff to match. That aside, I liked their beer list being the beer chick that I am. They had a vast number on tap and most were priced just $5-6. Totally reasonable. Aside from beers, they had wine, pops and some specialty drinks. But c'mon now...beer. I have been here a number of times. Here are the 3 things that strike me the most about this place. The decor The prices The owner The decor started off as English pub meets French bistro meets Persian cafe. It is almost totally random but it is also the most charming thing about this place. He has seemed to add even more stuff so that it is just shy of Chili's level of wall clutter. The prices. High for the amount they serve you. $8 for a draft 10-12oz beer is pretty steep. They do have an eclectic selection of beers. Also, I ordered a kolsch and I saw a half poured beer in a glass. The bartender then filled it the rest of the way from the tap. This isn't even a legal practice. The owner. The short answer: total weirdo. I see him walk through the place and not smile at the customers. Ive heard him more than once raise his voice at the staff for serving too much. This guy's purse strings are tighter than a pair of Chinese finger cuffs. He used to make the bartenders place a wine glass filled with water that he filled next to the empty glass so the bartender wouldn't go over. I've seen them not go over the line and he gets upset with them. I cannot imagine it would be fun working for this guy. Fun decor, slightly overpriced, weird owner. I always thought it was a tiny, hipster bar with a small selection.. But hold up! What was that I hear?! I backed up like a dump truck! Slow.. one foot behind the other. beep.. beep.. beep.. Is that the blast of 90's electronic trancey music crashing in rhythmic waves over the open door?! That sound has been extinct for years!! I was suddenly pulled in like an Etard to a glowstick. Definitely extinct. Inside was dark, sultry, and oozing in culture. The place is tiny but the industrial decor and bumping music is enough to transport you to another world. It's mysterious, it's steampunk meets woodart, it's me, it's you, it's brewskis times two! This place transported me back to a super cool bar I found in Container Park in Las Vegas. Same music, same feels, same exotic beers. Even my little doggie was lucky enough to experience this with me inside. I sat on the stool, while she laid below and woofed, "Mommy you so cool." Or that's what I heard anyway. I left feeling insanely happy and excited that I found a place like this in Sacramento. This place is a GEM! I almost wanted to not write about it to keep it my little secret. But it's too good a place to not yap about. They even serve food during the daytime. This place looks so cute from the outside, but inside it's dark and dirty. The drinks are fair (the sangria was decent) but the food is awful. I even gave it a second chance hoping my first experience was just a one-off, but no. If you simply must go there, sit outside- at least you can enjoy the view of the park! And whatever you do- do not use their restroom. As far as service goes, the bartenders were nice, but the owner is rude. I had the fortune of biking by Karma with a friend who said it was one of his favorite places and at the look of it I didn't think it would blow my mind. But I was wrong! ATTENTION ALL YELPERS... This place is definitely small but super cozy! Great spot to catch up with old friends as this space is very intimate and quaint. The bar tenders are really nice. If you do not know what you want to drink they make suggestions based on your alcohol of choice. I chose the Mulled Wine. It is served warm with fruit and cinnamon powder. Sangria & Hummus! SITREP My lovely friend Bambi introduced me to a fun, exquisite Saturday afternoon (quasi-)tradition of Sangria & Hummus @ Karma Brew! THE SETUP Located at the corner of 16th & P Streets in the house that Mochi Yogurt used to be, it's at a prime location for people just wanted to walk from their nearby home, condo or townhouse - of which there are many many in this busy hood. On the opposite corner across 16th Street are the stalwart enterprises of Nishiki Sushi and Starbucks. Kitty corner is Orchid Thai, which is just up from Hot Italian on the same block. And across P Street is the active, thriving Fremont Park, home of concerts, festivals and "Chalk It Up!" P-A-T-I-O So I mention this because there is so much fun stuff to see from the vantage point of sitting on the patio there at Karma Brew, on a beautiful spring twilight evening, sipping on a Hef or a Sangria, dipping med-breads into a delicious garlic hummus and feeling your cares melt away. INSIDE! But inside Karma Brew is so very entertaining in a yet a very different fashion: think of fun levels of *kitschy* provided by the art and photos on the wall ("Is that R2D2 & C3PO in the corner?"), the unique furnishings ("Are those theatre seats?"), the stained glass, the exquisite mirrors, the lazy susan at the table where are drinks and hummus sit atop, etc. etc. THE LOWDOWN Karma Brew is the perfect eclectic chill spot, and should you be lucky enough to live in this neighborhood (or anywhere near, really), I envy you! read more
