My avocado explosion wrap was nice but not wow, and total 10$ for a rather slim veggie wrap (avocado, sprouts, carrots and dressing - extra dollar to substitute bread for wrap) is steep. Love, love, love this place. I have been a vegetarian for about 11 years and a vegan for about 2, so I've had plenty of time to experience good vegetarian food, and food that just happens to be vegetarian. Karma Road is consistent. I live about 70 miles north, but anytime I'm in the vincinity, I make a point of stopping there. While they do have several staple items (sweet potoato biscuits!! killer smoothies!! tofu love!!) they also change items on the menu pretty regularly so that this extremely picky vegan eater has experienced quite a bit of variety. One time my curry was spicier than I would like, but that's not a critique of the establishment, it's more of an admission that I'm a wimp. Every other time I have bought food in mass quantities thinking, well it's okay, because I'll have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Aaaaand that's a joke every time, because I always clean my plate. Additionally, the staff have always been great. On Sundays they are open till 6:00. And when I walked in at like 5:57 and ordered a smoothie and a meal, they weren't pissy (which I know I would be!), but instead were super friendly, helpful, and courteous. They even did the same for the 7 other customers that came in after me- and you know it was past closing time! ;) In summary, I really do love this place. We went for a quick bite on a sunny Friday afternoon. I had the half portion Caesar salad & my sister had the kalecado salad. I feel as if I did something wrong in my life to end up with such bad karma. It was Extremely slow and incredibly hot. I guess if you call ahead and come to pick up your food then it would be ok. This seems like an appealing place from the outside but the workers here are extremely slow. We came here with 5 other people and they took their sweet old time making smoothies. All I ordered was a cup of pre-made food which took 30 minutes to get brought out to me. 3 other groups of people got their food before us. The berry smoothie wasn't that good and you think that a vegan place would care about the environment but using plastic straws will surely give them bad karma for years to come. Been here a few times, today will be my last. Stood in front of the cash register, facing an employee - hoping to order (or at least acknowledged) for four minutes. You shouldn't have to beg for a business to take your money. Located near the rail trail, allowing diners to either work up an appetite or walk off a big meal, Karma Road is a friendly, unpretentious place to get a tasty and healthy meal. Upon entering I am often greeted with a sample of their soup of the day. I've yet to be disappointed by the soup and purchase a bowl in spite of having come in for something else. It's also a lovely gesture that exemplifies the way that diners are treated at Karma Road. The soups and juices are outstanding, generally focusing on local organic ingredients where possible. Although I am neither gluten intolerant nor vegan, the offerings are varied and I have never felt at a loss for something to order. It's a hot day but I had mixed vegetable soup for my late lunch here at Karma Road. Kale, cabbage, carrots and more. Yum. The Moroccan mint tea a cool, sweet counterpoint to my soup. Great cafe. I've always had good luck with the take home items in their case (per lb. Salads etc.) The T.L.T. makes for a tasty sandwich and the peanut butter and jelly cookies almost always make it in my order. Finding vegan options can be tough north of NYC. My girlfriend and I are both vegan and go to school in Poughkeepsie. We were happy to find out via yelp that Karma Road was exclusively vegan and located in the cute town of New Paltz, right across the river. The location is quaint and we were able to finding seating immediately after ordering. I ordered a tempeh bacon and tofu scrambled sandwich and wake up call shake. My girlfriend ordered the cesar salad. We shared a chocolate brownie that was oddly labeled as cake and a chocolate chip/berry muffin. The food took a while to get ready. The tempeh bacon and tofu scrambled sandwich was very average and completely bland/uninspiring. The bread was thin and the portion was actually really small for the price. The shake was pretty good and came out within minutes of ordering, unfortunately I finished it before the food came since it took a while. My girlfriends cesar salad was really tasty and she was happy because normally she can't find any vegan options elsewhere. The muffin and brownie we shared were bland and under cooked. This was probably the most disappointing part out of our brunch. Like many of the other reviews say this place is really average and shouldn't be as expensive as it is. I guess they are just counting on the fact that there are so few establishments that are entirely vegan :( With some tweaks this place could be really wonderful. Until then upstate NY is really lacking in quality vegan options. read more

Hippie juice and smoothie bar with deli. Here's an idea of the juice you'd get here: kale spinach cucumber apple, with some ginger or beet optionally added. They also have boring (or normal, depending on your outlook) juices, like orange and carrot, and a nice selection of smoothies mixed in with of all the sort of stuff you'd expect--chocolate, berry, banana, coffee, kale, peanut butter, spinach, etc. Love it. Service is super friendly and there's a deli counter with vegan quiches and salads and all sorts of crunchy goodness--looked good, but I didn't get a chance to try it. It really pains me that my first review must be a negative one but it must be done. I can't in good conscience let other vegans eat this microwaved mess. Yeah, pretty sure the tempeh in my Reuben was cooked in a microwave and bland. It's all good though because my side of plain beans and quinoa was ice cold (no microwave!) or flavor! Everyone there is really sweet I just wish their food was good. I think I would rather just eat some plain brown rice cakes and save myself the money and crippling disappointment.
