First I gotta say is the berry katsu sauce is the BOMB. It is a super tasty variation of katsu sauce. Everything here was quite good. The service is also very good. I believe her name is Jay(?) and she has perfected service with a smile. The ambiance is chill. With how good the food is the probably need more seating. I had the curry katsu plate special (thanks for the recommendation Jay) and it was all very flavorful. I am always looking for my next favorite katsu restaurant and this katsu was moist, flavorful, and crunchy. Combine the Katsu with the berry katsu sauce and I have found my new fav place to eat katsu. As a bonus they have yummy churro ice cream.

A nice selection of Japanese and Korean foods. Some item can be considered too spicy for the average American, but I love spicy! They have a small number of table to sit down and eat. First timers should try their curry katsu. Parking can be challenging but seems to turn over quickly. There is a 30 min parking just out front. There is also a nice bakery next door that has lots of desserts and coffee! Nice people, clean restaurant, fresh made foods.

I popped in here the other day for a quick bite before my haircut and been eyeing this place for a while. Definitely love curry and chicken Katsu combos in general. I was looking at the menu and ended up ordering a chicken Katsu bowl with rice. I love that they were very generous with the amount of chicken. Very well breaded and there was a little nice side of imitation crab. It definitely hit the spot such a simple bowl of rice with chicken yet so delicious! This will be a go to spot when I'm in the area before my haircut for sure!

Every time I've come here, it always hits! Since it's located in a busy shopping plaza, it can get crowded during lunch, but people are constantly coming and going. Before you head inside, check the A-frame for the weekly combo specials (food + fountain drink) because they're a pretty good deal at $14.01 after tax. Once you order at the register, there are usually enough tables to eat at or a bench if you decide to do take out. Even with a bit of a crowd at 1PM on a Thursday, I didn't have any issues finding a seat. I've only ordered takeout, and I'm always impressed that the katsu stays warm and crispy. - Rosemary Chicken Katsu Sando with Spicy Mayo and Waffle Fries (Tuesday Special): 3 half sandwiches were much bigger than expected and very filling. The chicken was tender with a crispy coating, the bread stayed soft, and the mustard aioli and cabbage tied everything together without making it soggy. The spicy mayo added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the sandwich. Paired with the crispy, well-seasoned waffle fries, it was a satisfying meal. - Tteokbokki with Chicken Katsu (Thursday Special): Despite the chicken being packaged on top of the tteokbokki, the katsu stayed surprisingly crispy. The portion was also generous enough to share. I ordered the regular spice level, which had a nice kick. I was pleasantly surprised to find flat noodles mixed in with the rice cakes, making it feel more like a full entree than just a side of tteokbokki. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfect for dipping the katsu. I never would've thought to pair the two, but it worked well together! Who knew katsu could be so versatile? This spot is absolutely worth checking out if you're looking for a filling, affordable, and delicious meal.

It was my first time trying the place. Just started off with a pork curry katsu plate, regular spice level. The curry was simple and had a light sweetness to it. It is not as thick as some other places might have it. The katsu was light and crispy. Paired well with the simplicity of the curry. It also came with a small side salad, mac salad, and radish -- all of which added a refreshing element to the dish. After finishing my meal, I wasn't left feeling heavy.

Seen this restaurant on social media and thought I'd check it out since I was in the neighborhood. Ordered online which was simple enough. My order was ready in 15mins . I ordered the Curry katsu and the egg salad sandwich. Both were good and the portion size was good too. Good tasted fresh . Restaurant was very clean and service was great. Our group ordered the following: Katsu plate (beef) Fried mushrooms Fish bowl Katsu Udon (pork) Everything was delicious, however, the mushrooms were definitely a favorite. The pork katsu was a little on the chewy side but the curry was great! They have weekday specials that are discounted and include a drink! Monday was the katsu plate - dine in only. The restaurant is clean and could technically accommodate a large group if it's not busy. Worst case scenario, it's part of a plaza with lots of outdoor seating.

I've been meaning to try out Katsu Bar since it's a close option to satisfy our Katsu curry cravings. This place did not disappoint! Ordering online was easy, the pickup process was smooth and the prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get. We got the Baja Chipotle Sandwich with waffle fries ($16.50) and the Katsu Curry plate ($16.50). The sandwich was massive and the waffle fries were actually seasoned. This was probably my favorite dish of the two since it was unique. The katsu plate was the perfect portion size and I loved how spicy the curry was (even for mild). We will definitely be back to try out more of their katsu dishes!

Came hungry, left satisfied! Got the pork Katsu plate with curry sauce, the curry itself was a bit more spicy than I was expecting but in a good way. Inside was very clean, probably about 6 tables total and was full house when we were in the middle of our meal! And some people waiting for their to go orders. Is this wait time for real? This place is known for selling the most Katsu in California, and even during the lunch rush, the line just doesn't stop. The thick Japanese-style pork cutlet bursting out of the bread is seriously next level! One bite, and it's perfectly crispy until the very end--no greasiness at all. Pair it with the colorful Tofu Pockets, and it's a total game changer!

Clean and well organized dining room in the Brea location. I ordered the black garlic ramen with katsu. The tonkatsu broth was rich and very tasty with the garlic. Noodles were perfectly cooked and alkaline texture. Ramen was generously served with a whole entire medium boiled egg. Pork katsu was moist inside and crispy on the outside delicious! I'd been wanting to try this place for a while and was excited to check it out. I had no expectations, but I hate to say I was disappointed. The service was good. The girl at the counter was very polite, took my order, and they bring your food to the table when dining in. The place is small, but there are a few tables if choosing to dine in. The music was blasting way too loud, we sat under the speakers and regretted it. Unfortunately the place got packed after we had ordered and we couldn't move to a different table. The food itself was a let down. I tried the rosemary chicken sandwich - it was average. I also ordered the 4 pack or yubu pockets, none of the ones I tried were that great. The egg salad was a bit sweet..? The bulgogi just tasted like ground beef, and the spicy tuna was just ok. Overall an ok place, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back here again.

I'm still thinking about this place after having it for lunch. Sooooo good and fresh. I got the pork katsu plate and the pork itself, great. The sides... WONDERFUL. The little salad and the radish is so tasty. I can't wait to come back. I will definitely be recommending this place to my katsu loving friends. I Ordered Large Don Katsu and curry over rice. and 4 peace Yubu. Ate right away too. I promise you, it was the Worst Oilest Katsu I've ever tasted. Literally Oil Penetrated the Katsu and Pork was Dry and Chewy. It means they don't used Pork Tenderloin? Or not tenderizing it properly, and most crucially Fry Temp is TOOOOOOO HIGH!!!!!! Yuck. I will never return to this place for Katsu. I loved the server, she is so nice. read more

Have been to this place a total of 3 times now. Very interesting and yummy menu with so many things to choose from. We have tried the Gangjang chicken and the Katsu plates and loved it all. I especially like the cabbage slaw they serve with one of the Katsu dishes. This last time we placed an order to go and were missing sauce when we got home. We called about it and they were so very helpful, apologetic, and understanding. They refunded our money and then some, again with numerous apologies. It's hard to find this type of customer service nowadays. We've had many to go orders missing items over the years and usually restaurants/servers are very nonchalant about mistakes being made that can possibly ruin a meal. A big thank you to the staff and owner of Katsu Bar for not only making great food, but for having amazing customer service. We will be back very soon! read more

Reminds me a bit of the extinct Curry House and hits the spot when you are craving curry or katsu. They have some interesting items like filled futomaki and strawberry sandos. The pork katsu is a bit chewier than chicken, and id like to try their portobello option. Warning: max spicy level is quite hot! read more

horribly dry inari sushi! I got take out before work on 28th of September and I can't stop thinking about how bad it was. I got the Yubu Set Cali Roll, Garlic Butter Shrimp, Bulgogi (Beef) and spicy tuna. The cali roll was inedible as it was just shredded stinky imitation crab meat straight from the package. It was so gross. It didn't have anything mixed either so it was super dry. The garlic butter shrimp did not taste like garlic did not taste like butter, just had a texture of rubbery, mini shrimp. THE Bulgogi WAS GROUND BEEF AND DRY AS WELL. The sweet soy sauce flavor was ok. THE ONLY ONE I CAN SEMI RECOMMEND IS THE SPICY TUNA. read more

Katsu Bar has been open for 6 months and I am glad I finally went. Was just looking for a quick bite so I got the Egg Salad Sando, great decision it was really fresh and I love they add dill. Friendly service, I just got their before the lunch rush, Clean place but seating is limited. I cant wait to go back and try the curry plates and homemade strawberry milk. This place was MADE to keep my katsu sando cravings under control. Every once in a while I get a craving for a katsu or egg sando and this place has exactly the sandos to satisfy those cravings. The breading is light and crispy, and just perfect. The curry katsu is also good but needs a much bigger portion of curry to balance out the meal. Prices are decent and service was good as well! The restaurant itself is very clean. I'll definitely be back every time the craving hits! read more

This place is clean and the food is decent. I had the rosemary katsu with fries. Fries were a bit too salty but the katsu sandwich was good. If one thing could be improved is that the bread started getting soggy real fast. Overall I recommend you trying out this place but you may not fully enjoy it if you take it to go. read more

Went to pick up at Katsu Bar in Brea. Such a great experience. I asked the young lady at the front what she would recommend and she said the katsu plates with the curry and the yubu. I loved the Yubu spicy tuna so much. They were huge! I had 2 and I was full. The other 2 I ordered were the garlic butter shrimp which were also good but I personally preferred the spicy tuna. The Korean Katsu can plate was delicious. I've had katsu at many places and sometime it can be overly breaded and dry. Not at this place. It was perfectly cooked. I don't eat pork so I liked that I could choose chicken. The presentation was great and i loved that even the salad was fresh and i was surprised that even the pasta salad was good. The Korean radish is even good. The shining star was the curry. I normally do not like curry but man was that good. It was sweet and I feel like I will be craving it from now on. The portion is generous. I only ate a little bit of it tonight so I'm saving it for tomorrow. It's such a great deal! I plan to go back. I am so glad I found this place! I absolutely loved this place! I ordered the Rosemary Katsu Sando with Waffle Fries and the Katsu Curry Plate. Both dishes were very delicious and reasonably priced. The freshness of the ingredients was evident from the very first bite. The staff were extremely courteous and accommodating as well. I love both the pork and mushroom katsu, and their curry is delicious. There isn't a lot of options for other food besides katsu, but because of that their katsu is really well made. Their weekly specials are also great and you should not miss them. Overall, this place is a great lunch spot. read more

If you're a fan of Japanese or Korean food, this is the spot to come to for sure! Especially for Katsu lovers. There is a variety of Katsu choices ranging from sandwiches, plates, noodle dishes, salad, etc. and very delicious appetizers. I highly recommend the Korean Gangjung appetizer to start. It comes in a honey garlic or sweet and spicy sauce and both are so good! The classic Katsu Curry Plate, Rosemary Sando or Tteobeoki are my go to orders. For dessert, I love getting the Strawberry Sando. It's always presented so beautifully and tastes delicious. The staff and owner are all super welcoming, friendly and great with recommendations. Service is super quick and reliable. The store itself is very clean and well maintained. Even if you're not planning on dining in, to go orders are just as good. Definitely try this place out, it never disappoints! read more

Saw this new Katsura shop nearby. I didn't have high expectation, but the food turns out to be pretty good. Katsu sandwich (1.5/5) Waffle fries 5/5 Mushroom tempura 5/5. 4 stars overall. I tried most of the katsu restaurant in the area, their Katsu sandwiches is quite below average, but all other food are amazing. (Maybe it is just me that does like the taste of their Katsu) read more

I ordered a curry katsu and they asked if I wanted regular or large. I asked for large and it looks like they just give you an extra cutlet. I was shocked to see how small the portion is for the curry and the macaroni salad. The picture shows what we got. The curry was half the cup and the macaroni salad was like 10 pieces of macaroni. read more

First time here. Place is quick casual, you order at the counter or use a kiosk. Transaction was quick and the employee made some recommendations. The Sando bread is light and fluffy and doesn't fall apart when holding. The flavor of the berry sauce is very slightly sweet and savory and blends well with the chicken. Overall really good sandwich and perfect size for lunch. I got a yuzu drink from the cooler that was very refreshing. 10/10 will definitely come back read more

A surprise find in Brea. Nice ambiance for fast food. The katsu was pretty good as well. Ordered the katsu sando and a katsu curry plate. The waffle fries that came with the sando was excellent. First time visiting a Katsu Bar location and this was during soft opening. I've been to other restaurants with similar dishes but this was by far the best katsu and curry. I ordered the Chicken Katsu with curry plate, chicken Katsu Ramen and the waffle fries (all non spicy) to go. The young lady at the front was very helpful and nice. Everything was very clean and our order took about 10 minutes, which was not bad during lunchtime on a Thursday. The prices were comparable to other restaurants with the same items; maybe just a bit more. The only bad thing about this place is that it might put some other restaurants out of business in Brea. Hands down, the best Katsu bar in town! Super clean (my top priority), friendly staff and of course, the perfect Katsu ! After a couple of visitings, My favorites are; Tteokbokkie Katsu and Black garlic ramen Katsu. You can choose how spicy you want for the Tteokbokkie- Regular works for me. For the ramen, soup is not salty, the noodle is cooked just right! Love their Katsu sauce; one of my friends said she wants to pour rice into the bowl and eat it like Bibimbob, lol I like their location too. There's Nektar juice bar and Starbucks right next to it. I think it's perfect for family/ friends gatherings- also kids friendly (thank you) Can't wait for their grand opening. You should try here read more

Interesting that my negative review got removed. How filtered are these reviews? The owner flagged mine just because I said this place isn't worth it, overpriced for what you actually get. On top of that, the staff didn't even seem to know how to use their own payment system. I visited Katsu Bar for Sunday lunch. The katsu was crispy and had a generous portion. Previously, the salad was made with arugula, but it has now been changed to green cabbage. My children had difficulty eating the arugula salad, but they enjoyed the green cabbage with the sauce, finishing everything on their plates. The katsu was crispy, and the curry was excellent.
