Katy's is a great community place where I feel it is like my break room since I am self employed. I actually drive out of my way to get here. I order teas and coffee and chat with whoever is in the cafe. They have some of the best employees, so it is always a joy! The vibe is community oriented, friendly, and is quite a great place to bring your pup if it is friendly and plays well with others. It can be packed in there, but it depends on the time of day. There is some seating outside. They also deliver via Grub Hub and other online partners if you want to give them a try without leaving your living room, but the huge draw is the community social element. They also make great sandwiches and baked goods. For example, the peanut butter cookies are a popular item with regulars. Mean people, grumpy people, and angry people should go to a drive through coffee place. ;) read more

I've been here three times while visiting Seattle and Katy's is everything I love in a cafe: delicious coffee, relaxed and homey vibe, quick and friendly service, lots of simple yet delicious munchie items. Best of all is that there is a very welcoming and unpretentious vibe (like some of the other cafes nearby). We were helped by Katy herself and she seemed like an genuinely friendly person! Neighborhood java stop with espresso and drip, pastries. Avoid the drip, it's invariably weak and cool. Otherwise a four star place.

Great cozy place for good espresso based drinks. Friendly baristas, and awesome breakfast sandwiches make for great mornings. The only thing that stinks is a $.45 service charge for orders under $5 using a credit card (which are most mornings). read more

I had two cups of earl grey tea and a cookie. The tea, from Teavana, was good. The cookie was delicious, crunchy outside but moist and chewy inside. Yummy. The barista was super nice. If I lived in Seattle, I would come here often. read more

I've been a regular here for over a year now, and I love Katy's. Friendly baristas, the coffee always satiates my morning pallet, and as a person, Katy is AWESOME! I can't recommend this place enough. Though, if you are in a hurry, looking for that run of the mill, quick in and out sort of thing, this might not be the place for you. The service might be slow, but with good reason: the baristas take the time to connect with each customer, which is fabulous. That spinach and cheddar muffin!! So good, it was still warm! And it had a little bit of spiciness to it. I'll definitely have another one. Coffee was good. I liked the option of vanilla soy milk instead of just plain, I haven't experienced that at other coffee shops. It did feel a little cluttered in there and I was worried the wait would be long (I was in a rush to get to work) but the wait was very reasonable and actually shorter than I expected. I walk here from my office most days. Katy knows most of my coworkers by name, and greets us all with her constantly positive attitude. Aside from the fantastic art on the walls and the delicious homemade pastries, every coffee drink I've tried here is fantastic (especially the macchiato - couldn't have hoped for better espresso). I had rented a house walking distance to this cafe and thought I'd try it out since there were so many good reviews. It was a cute little cafe frequented by locals. I was disappointed though with the service and quality of coffee. My latte tasted really bitter so I ended up throwing it away. And the service was not friendly. If you're just there for your drink, they pour a mean shot. But if you're going to stick around, this place has great fresh pastries, sandwiches made to order, and some of the friendliest service you'll find in Seattle. When I lived in Seattle, this place was on my way from my apartment to the bus stop I took to work. I stopped there every morning, and even in the gloomy winter it started my day off with a ray of sunshine from the great baristas. They create an atmosphere that is warm and inviting, they'll remember your drink, and make a great latte too. If you want a place that is too cool for school, go further up into capitol hill. Katy's has some if the BEST coffee in Seattle! Not to mention the ham, egg, and cheddar breakfast bagels that are made FRESH and really fill you up! Rude. that is the only way to describe the customer service everyone seems to rave about, be expected to wait for the person behind the counter to finish gossiping before you can order and expect so-so results. oh, also, expect to be looked at like a piece of garbage if you happen to come in with someone else who's ordering and not get anything. i will NEVER be returning here, i don't care how close it is to my dads work, it's just not worth the wait or the treatment you receive. read more

This is a gem of a coffee shop. Very cozy and quaint, great prices and seems to be popular with locals.

Food and drinks are very reasonably priced. The food does take a while to prepare so just don't expect to zoom in and out.

Its okay because it is close, dog friendly and they have average coffee. But what is with the bare footed toddler playing near the garbage can just hanging out while his mom makes drinks? It made me nervous to step on his toes or that he was going to dig through the trash, not very relaxing to say the least. read more

I ordered food from here through Amazon Prime Now. I ordered three sandwiches: a turkey club on wheat, a ham breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel, and a southwest turkey wrap. The food arrived 45 minutes after I placed my order and I live in western lower Queen Anne to give you an idea of how far my food traveled (not too far). All of the food arrived cold despite being wrapped in tin foil(!). I received a turkey, lettuce, and mayo sandwich on white bread, a ham breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel, and the saddest looking breakfast burrito I've ever seen (whether or not it contains the correct filling is TBD as my hubby hasn't taken a bite of it yet; all I know is it arrived ice cold). Sandwiches seem like the easiest thing to "cook" -- I don't know how they got this order so wrong. I don't take pleasure in writing poor reviews for local businesses, so I'm giving 3 stars when they really deserve 1.5 or 2. Maybe it's a better place experienced in person... read more

I really love Katy's. The place has this great informal quirky warm and welcoming feel without sacrificing any amount of deliciousness in their coffee or pastries. It's tiny, so it's hard to zone out and ignore eachother, and there can sometimes be just one conversation among everyone there, which is so much fun. The two sandwiches I've tried weren't exactly outstanding, but all their pastries have been pretty bomb. read more

i typically hit up tougo. no real reason other than their coffee is really tasty. but today i was hungry, and when i walked in, i saw they were all out of pastries and sandwiches so i headed on down to katy's for the first time in a couple of years... and, wow! sure, all they had was pastries, but the sweetest, most adorable handle bar mustached barista quietly helped me out... the latte he made was absolutely perfect (and i am a bit of a snob. i drink soy, and baristas seem to have a problem heating it properly). but he was a doll! so glad i came in. i work down the street and am certain, after my experience with this fella, i will be back again soon! mmmmm! :) read more

Soggy sandwich. Stale coffee. Long wait, frazzled and impolite service without many people to serve.

No complaints about the coffee and treats, but I've gone several times with the Groupon deal and the baristas say they aren't set up to scan the barcode. Last time the barista said he'd still give me the deal, which was very nice, but he must have still hit the redeem button on my phone because I was charged for the Groupon in addition. Seating is very limited as well. read more
