This place is a classic! They have so many delicious sandwiches to choose from. I usually order the Beckham BLT and my boyfriend gets the pastrami, both are amazing every time. We have also had their potato salad, fresh fruit, macaroni salad, latkes, and kugel as sides which are also all delicious. The prices seem high initially, but it is definitely worth it and the size of the sandwiches is very large and I almost always have some leftover! As of my most recent visit they have limited their seating to be outdoors, which can be challenging during their busy hours as well as during the colder months. I also love the location in the German Village as there are many fun places within walking distance. I'm hoping to see more seating added soon and will definitely be returning! read more

This classic Deli was on my radar for a while and I finally was able to stop in. It was a bit overwhelming for a first time person with the menu going around the wall. You can strain your neck reading all of the items. I finally just asked someone what they'd recommend and settled on the #31 with Corned Beef/Pastrami/Slaw/Russian Dressing and she recommended adding cheese and getting it grilled. It was a good sandwich, but for the price, I was expecting more substance to the sandwich. I think it was close to $15 so the quantity was a let down. I had visions of a sandwich with 2 inches of stacked meat. The rye bread was excellent, but didn't hold up that great to the meat. Luckily, they had barrels of pickles which was help yo' self so I had a couple of extra pickles to satisfy my hunger. Their drinks had free refills so I was able to quench my thirst. Parking was a challenge, even when getting there around 11a. Good food, good service, but price and parking are two reasons I probably wouldn't go back. I may try the other location in Dublin if I'm in that area. read more

On the way back to Cleveland from a Hocking Hills camping trip, we were hankering for some good ol' Jewish deli food, so we thought of Kaztinger's right away. With a decent amount of outdoor seating available, we felt it was a safe bet to give it a try. For the three of us, we split two sandwiches and a slice of key lime pie. Katzinger's features Dr. Browns sodas, so I was excited to have the Black Cherry version, one of my all time favorites. The corned beef (#1 - Katzinger's Reuben) came with all the typical toppings: hot corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing all atop grilled rye. It was good, it was messy, but not very large given the price. The roast beef (#34 - Neal's Let's Make a Meal) featured rosemary and garlic roast beef, brisket, white cheddar, a creamy coleslaw, Russian dressing all atop the same grilled rye bread. We really enjoyed their rye, and the crispiness held the sandwiches together given how "juicy" they were. Unfortunately this sandwich was also on the skimpy side and pretty fatty to boot. A single slice of Key lime pie easily satisfied the three of us. It had a real graham cracker crust (a must!) and whipped cream on top (none of us like meringue). It has the slight tartness and with the sweetness of the condensed milk that is unmistakable. Yum! Not the greatest deli food of all time, but certainly met our needs and would be a place we'd consider when in that area of Columbus in the future. read more

Oh my gosh I LOVED this restaurant! I got the mushroom Rueben and really loved it. I don't eat beef and was really excited to see a vegetarian option on the menu. Incredible!!! Live close to german village (and am moving to the neighborhood soon!) so wanted to check out as many GV restaurants as possible. Katzinger's was definitely on the list of classic restaurants in the area. I ordered lunch over the phone when we were already pretty close by, and then picked it up after doing a quick stroll around Schiller Park. Ordered the Reuben, the lox bagel and the Kobb salad. Everything was good. My husband said the reuben is the best he's had. The lox bagel was delicious with the right ratio of cream cheese, salmon and tomatoes (a little too much onion but that's easy to take off). The Kobb seemed unexciting but I found out it contained loads of cheese, turkey and bacon layered into the bowl. The avocado was quite brown and didn't feel fresh but that was the only downside. The ranch I got with the salad was thick and delicious. The prices are a little on the high side for what you get (i.e. $13 for a lox bagel and $14 for the salad) but other than that... super friendly service over the phone and I thought everything was prepared with care and packed well. Such a tasty deli! We heard from locals that this is a great deli to try near the German Village and it didn't disappoint. We tried a knish, the Reuben, and a few other bites including pickles from the free pickle barrel. Everything was delicious. The staff was amazing and even though it was packed, it runs like a well oiled machine. I'd highly recommend grabbing a bite here. The menu is so expansive, there's something for everyone. Katzingers has items you can't find elsewhere in Columbus. I needed a smoked whitefish and this was the only source. It was moist and delicious. Parking is always an issue but if you can walk 2 blocks they have a lot. I don't enjoy eating in the restaurant because the tables are too close together and the noise level is too high for my comfort. read more

I'm a big sandwich guy and everyone kept telling me to go to Katzinger's. I finally went and got the Katzinger's Reuben & the Mike and Rich Follow the Bubble. They were both pretty good. I always say that if they can make a good reuben, then they have good sandwich fundamentals. I'm not saying it was a bad sandwich, it just didn't live up to all the hype I was told. Don't get me wrong, the meat was good - decent flavor, soft. I feel like it was missing more sauerkraut and their Russian dressing. Also, their toaster was broken so they "grilled" my bread. It was unique, wasn't bad. Just different. The Mike and Rick was a decent capicola and salami on a baguette. It also was decent, but nothing breathtaking. It honestly felt like the hot peppers were the most flavorful part of that sandwich. They had dessert/slices of cake/pie that looked delicious, a bit on the pricier side of ~$8 but I didn't try it since I already had enough food. The ambience was pretty cool. A good amount of seating. The staff were really down to earth, friendly, and very helpful in ordering. Stopped by for lunch on my way into Columbus based on a recommendation & it's been a while since I've had a kosher deli sandwich. I went with the Ruben, because that seemed to be the standard to go to. I asked what the different prices associated with the sandwiches were & before I could get the question out, the guy working the register cut me off with a "Quarter pound, half pound." Uh, OK...maybe if that was explicitly stated on the menu board it would not be a question he's obviously received more than one time... Also ordered a potato latke to go with it. The food came out in about 10 minutes and the sandwich portion was enormous...but the flavor was lacking. Tasted like corned beef (obviously) but didn't deliver that wow factor I was anticipating. The crust on the bread was so hard it actually caused an abrasion on the inside of my lip, which was only obvious when I would wipe my mouth & a small amount of blood appeared on the napkin. The potato latke was...dense. It was over fried & very thick; not airy & flaky like I was used to. I ate about 2/3 of it & tossed the rest - along with the bread crust. The Dublin location was neat and orderly, with plenty of parking. I was disappointed however in the quality if the Rueben. It was dry. Had far less Corned Beef than sandwiches at even less deli-like restaurants. If they had taken the time to stack the meat perhaps it m a y. have, at least, appeared more appealing. There was minimal dressing which did nothing to compensate fore the meat and so-so rye bread. I don't get to Dublin often, so I'll continue to rely on the Columbus location, I guess. read more

We shared the Katzinger's Reuben and also the Bill, Gary and Beuford's Upper Yough Reuben (featured on the Food Network's Best Thing I Ever Ate). The house made pickles were also a treat; we had one dill pickle and also a garlic pickle. The food was amazing! This place will always be a favorite. I loathe the smug comparisons to New York Delis; Katzinger's just wants to make good food -- and they do. The line workers bust their butts to make sure every minute detail of each order is correct, and has a touch of love. I write to you, dear reader, to update my review from one year ago. What can be said that I have not already said? Nothing. This place still has all the same problems -- and somehow the already bad counter service has only gotten worse. Time may be a flat circle, repeating itself ad-infinitum. But sometimes I wonder if it's actually a gradual, downward spiral -- and we're all just slowly surfing the sides of toilet bowl down toward the inevitable soggy plop. Where I grew up, there's a deli or two in every 5 minute radius and I grew up grabbing sandwiches at the deli all the time. When I moved to Columbus I wanted to find a deli I could grab a make-your-own sandwich at that also has a long list of sandwiches to choose from. We were actually planning to go to Schmidt's, but the wait was too long, so we came here. It was definitely a good choice! They have their large selection of sandwiches up on the board above the counter. It was really hard to decide, but they do mark their most popular sandwiches. We were really in the mood for a Reuben, so we got Katzinger's Reuben and Neal's Let's Make a Meal. Wee also got a side of the redskin potato salad. Everything was equally delicious! The regular size of the sandwiches was quite big too. They also have giant barrels of complimentary pickles -- garlic and dill. I had some garlic pickles and they were very good. Service is fast. I stopped in yesterday for a sandwich and Greek salad. It was the worst sandwich I have ever had, the bread was almost stale. It had holes in the top of it, so the mayonnaise, which should not have been on my sandwich was seeping through the top of the bread. And the tomatoes Slices that they put on were at at least 3/16 inches thick. So it made it almost impossible to eat the sandwich with the tomatoes on it. The Greek salad came with three small chunks of feta cheese, little diced cucumbers, and so many chunks of tomato that was probably a whole tomato. This is the worst lunch I have had in my entire life.I am 66 years old. I threw $30 down the drain. I wish I would've gave it to a homeless person. read more

I ordered the corn beef for ribbon and it is surprisingly big and delicious. This is not the first time I've ordered from Katzinger. My last visit I tried the red skin potato salad, but it had too much pepper in it for me so I had to throw it away, I'm very sensitive to spicy or peppery food.
