The great thing about Katz is that it is open 24/7. Houston has such a great food culture, but so many restaurants don't often stay open incredibly late I've been to Katz delis in NYC and in other parts of Houston, and this location is quite different. This spot is more modern and trendy. While the other locations have that NYC diner style charm, this location is more appealing in terms of decor, seating, etc They have brunch, traditional breakfast, specialty coffees, lunch, dinner, alcohol, desserts etc. I went to this location for brunch and we had a great time. The service was solid. We had a sizable group and we didn't have to make a reservation. We were seated in no time, and it was a weekend day. Also, our food came out in a timely manner The food was tasty. I don't find the prices overly steep, but it's not especially inexpensive. The ambiance was comfortable, and the service was good Some tips: Monday-Friday 3-6pm they have a happy hour that includes 50% off all alcohol The chilaquiles are surprisingly tasty. I would definitely order them again Cheers!!

A great 24/7 chain diner with a southern feel. The restaurant feels like a very uppity diner. The staff are very friendly and nice. We went during happy hour but unfortunately, they only have happy hour on drinks. No happy hour food items available on the menu. Quite a let down on this note. You pay mostly for the building & environment. (Food? not so much) Theres also an additional 3% surcharge for credit card transations. *** Honey Mustard $1 surcharge that was not communicated at the time that I asked for honey mustard to go with my sandwich. The lack of forward communication is a bit frowned upon. I could have bought half a bottle's worth at walmart. ***Pickle Spears Not worth a $14 plate. A tasty appetizer if you're into pickles. The brine is that of a traditional salty profile. Definitely not the sweet and sour type, just salty and sour. But the batter is extremely crispy and crunchy that pairs well with the dipping sauce. *** The RUBEN (corned beef & rye) In short, not worth the price. The beef has a very gamey smell to it that is somewhat off-putting. Sauerkraut is nice but does not justify the cost. But the bread was toasted to perfection. *** World Famous Cheesecake Shake TLDR; not worth $14 for a mechnically separated slice of cheese cake + milk shake. I could have bought a descent half a cheesecake at HEB. Also, the staff that made the shake excluded the cheesecake garnish pieces that was suppose to dress the top of the shake. A hard miss. This changes visually and texturally when you consume the shake, especially when the picture is right there. The shift manager (Zaria) apologized, reconciled, and rectified the situation. Our server (Mercedes) was absolutely friendly, attentive, and kind to us. We appreciated their efforts to ameliorate the cheesecake shake mishap.

Katz's has long been a Houston staple, known for its classic Jewish deli comfort food. Cabbage Roll is a must order, the appetizer portion was generous enough to share. NY Lox Bagel was solid considering the item is not something you can easily find after 10PM. While it was convenient to grab food late night, the lack of urgency from staff made the dining experience feel slow and dragged out. Simple request required flagging down multiple employees because our server took so long to check back in. As Katz's continues to expand across Houston, I feel like the restaurant's focus has shifted more toward aesthetics rather than service. My experience has left me wonder whether the growth has diluted the care and attention that made the original Westheimer location so memorable.

For starters service was amazing! Our sever Santana was just amazing! Such a sweet personality! Cole the manager was great too! Just making sure we were ok! Julian had a great personality! Definitely had me laughing! Along with the other workers they were amazing too! The ambiance of this location is so nice! The decor! The cleanliness! Also the music that plays is great!! You can talk and enjoy great food! I honestly had the best country fried steak chicken! It was so fresh! The mash potatoes under was sooo delicious! Mac n cheese was full of cheesy goodness! Pineapple coleslaw!! The flavors were amazing! The coconut shrimp was crunchy and good! I also had the mango margarita! Very great size! Great outdoor patio as well! With patio games! Definitely will be back! I love how there was a security in the parking lot! Shared parking lot but feels very safe! See you guys soon!

Came here on a whim and so happy that I did. I had the frittata. It came with two potato pancakes. The sauce was delicious! My spouse has a breakfast bowl. We both decided that we would eat here again. The manager, Cole, came by and checked on our table, as did the asst mgr. Nice touch.

Best part of course of Katz's is the 24 hour diner experience.. This location features a large parking lot, a spacious interior with modern decor, and lively energy generally after a night out. We came here after a Halloween party and the place was busy. Service was efficient. I did enjoy their menu selections, there's a good variety of sandwiches on different breads and some diner classics... You can also order online, and check to see their happy hour deals as well. The sandwich itself is just okay.. i think paying $18+ for a mediocre Reuben seems to be a bit steep even for a late night spot. I wouldn't want to come here other than the occasional late night dining.. so overall it's good for a diner, but i didn't think their sandwiches were worth the price point. Maybe I'll give it another shot in the future

Believe it or not this was my first time trying a Kat'z restaurant. I honestly never had a desire to go because the ratings weren't that great. We wanted to go to a different restaurant, but the wait was too long so we decided to go here instead. I was surprised to see how extensive the menu was and you have the option to do breakfast lunch or dinner which is nice, means there's something for everybody. This location looks like a bougie diner and is clean inside with plenty of seating. For starters, we had the spinach dip which was good, but definitely needed to add a little salt to it and the spicy meatballs which I wasn't interested in trying, but was told they were indeed spicy. I had a Grand Marnier mimosa and that was the highlight of my experience. I would go back every weekend just to have one lol it's definitely worth the $15. For an entrée, I had Chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and an extra cheese, and it also comes with a side of potatoes. Definitely would be my go to for brunch. Everyone else had the stuff French toast and buttermilk pancakes. There were no complaints. Service was great. We had Ally who typically works the bar who was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely give it a try if you haven't been here before.

Upon arrival the hostess was quick to greet , welcome and seat me , the music and decor was a vibe . My breakfast order of light fluffy pancakes with pecans .perfectly scrambled eggs and well cooked sausage patties were brought by a very attentive and friendly server named Michael., Everything tasted as good as it looks .

    Late night dinner date

This was a late night dinner. We arrived at about 11pm and was greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was pretty busy. As we were taken to our seats I noticed that food/crumbs from the last guest were on the seats. The person that sat us actually left us standing there. My husband took the menu and brushed the crumbs off the seat. We decided to stay because that late not much was open so we just hoped for the best. Surprisingly, our overall experience went pretty good. The manager came over to take our drink order because our waitress was very busy. The atmosphere was pretty laid back and other guests stunned to be enjoying their visit. Once our waitress came over, she was extremely friendly and kind. I ordered the waffles and added grilled chicken. It was really good. My husband ordered the French toast and he said it was really good as well. The service was very quick. The manager came by our table shortly after our food arrived and asked us how was everything, I started to ask her for avocado and then said it was okay. She actually surprised me with some and said it was on the house. We were so happy that we stayed... this was a really good visit! And, we will be back.

Food is good, super nice casual spot. Love the seating arrangements, indoor or outdoor. I'd recommended the Rueben & the Matz ball soup!!! Queso is meh, not the place to order it. I've come here a few times now and the service is just terrible. One time the manager had to take over our table as our service went MIA. The next time, just took about forever to get anything. Was begging was check even before we were done eating. I won't be coming back here, solely for the service. I would order if it were to-go.

A lackluster example of a pastrami sandwich, looks nothing like what is advertised.

The pastrami sandwich that we received looks nothing like what is advertised. Looks as if they intentionally rationed the normal serving size and gave us less than what we paid for. Highly disappointed in this.

Katz me outside! (Iykyk) - lol Met a friend for an early dinner at 3:30 pm and a gab-fest. Haha, and yes I said dinner. The interior and exterior is very pretty, new and clean. It was relatively quiet with about 4 tables plus us. Their week day Happy Hour is 50% off liquor from 3 pm - 6 pm. Cocktails: vodka cherry limeade and handmade ranch water Entrees: meatloaf dinner, meatball hero + side of mashed potatoes Vodka Cherry limeade- (5/5) very strong but with a nice mix of strawberry and lime Meatball hero - (4/5) saucy, large meatballs (6), topped with cheese. Bread was slightly toasted with a slight crunch - overall good Mashed potatoes - (5/5) I loved them, I wanted more, the end Our server was Cesar who was spectacular. He checked in on us but gave us enough space to gab. Very friendly and polite. The manager stopped by to check on us too which was nice but felt a bit robotic (like task - check, check) . Listen, this is a deli that stays open late and has some pretty good sandwiches. Don't come here looking for Michelin star food, it's a quick easy spot with some basic staples that are made just right. Love this place. Will be back.

Not 100% sure but, last time I was in a lady was in a booth reading a book; she was there when we arrived and her plates were already empty and she was still there after we left about an hour later so I'd assume they are okay with it -- as long as…

In the past they would bring out a bread basket, as a free appetizer like how some mexican restaurants bring out chips and salsa, however, they dont seem to do that here anymore. Service at the table was mediocre, our waitress took our drink order and on the way over, the waitress was spilling the drinks over the floor on the way to our table. After our waitress took our order, my gf did not get the mayo on the side as she had asked, and after we received our food, our waitress never came around to check on us, didn't refill our drinks or anything. The place was very loud, louder than visiting waffle house. I was trying to have a conversation with my gf sitting just across the table from one another, and we were having to literally yell at one another just to hear what each other were saying. My gf did state that the sandwich she ordered was a big sandwich, and was more than she could finish. Once we were ready to go, our waitress still hadn't been around to check on us. So I had to flag down someone else, to get us some to go boxes, and our check. Low and behold, when I was ready to checkout, the waitress appears out of nowhere, after all this time, I'm guessing because she thought she was going to get a good tip. I'm sorry, waitstaff only get a great tip from me, once and if they perform a great job duty, and this was not the case in this matter. Maybe, better luck next time, maybe Papas needs to hire better waitstaff worth hiring and keeping.

Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
