3 Stars for A-Ok. We were on our way back from Waimea Canyon and decided to finally try this place (it opened a few months after our last trip to Kauai, bummer!) after our friends brought us back an empty (wtf?) growler. We were very excited about and had a lot of high hopes because we heard good things and were excited that Kauai had finally gotten a brewery (our last trip we searched high and low on the island for good beer and settled on Kalapaki Joe's). This is a VERY TOURISTY area as most of the chartered boats leave from Port Allen so there are a lot of people and parking is not the easiest. We did finally find a spot to park only to walk in and realize it was crazy busy. We choose to sit upstairs where they have a bar top in the window looking outside over the street and pinball machines which were cool. However, it was a pain walk up and down the stairs with our beers because this was a self-service area. We ordered a sampler and unfortunately nothing was very mind blowing so we chose to hit the road. The bartenders were nice and helpful but it was busy so things took some time. But this was a miss for us because the beers just didn't really justify the craziness and wait times. I have no plans to go back. read more

Awful food for insane prices, my worst dining experience in two weeks on Kauai. The fish tacos appeared to be frozen fish sticks covered in mayonnaise. The chips were 12 thin tortilla chips served with warm salsa. My girlfriend asked to substitute fries, and got soggy, cold fries---and they tacked on a $1.50 charge without telling us. The servers/bartenders were very nice, but the food was so surreal that I was left feeling insulted. The proprietor must be very proud that they can get away with tricking tourists into paying $15 for frozen Costco fish sticks. read more

Awesome! We were at the KAUAI coffee company to do a tour and we're a little too early so we thought we grab a bite to eat... Checked on yelp and found the Kauai island brewery and grill. Funny we just heard a radio ad about it being the western most brewery in the United States. We ordered two pale ale's which were phenomenal. My husband ordered the fish sandwich which he declared he would absolutely order again tomorrow... I order the fish tacos. I replaced the coleslaw with my husband peanut coleslaw and loved it. I also added his wasabi cream sauce from his fish burger under my taco which made it even better! Our server, Clyde, also known as Pops introduced himself which I loved... Took great care of us we enjoyed our beer and lunch! read more

Ever have one of those lazy Sunday afternoons when you just want to sit at the bar, enjoy a cold one, chomp down some good french fries, watch a game, and be surrounded by people you can just kick back with? Well, that happened this past weekend. The hubs and I found ourselves sitting at the bar of the Kauai Beer Company feeding the need. Bobby our bartender was so super friendly, knowledgeable, and a killer playlist (minus a song or two--they can't all be winners). The lilikoi ale really wet my whistle and the french fries were so yummy dipped in the guava chili pepper ketchup. The best surprise was their Balboa brew--holy smokes! So damn good! I have been thinking about it for the last four days! Can't wait to down that one tomorrow! read more

From the sounds to the grinds KIB embodies the Aloha spirit. Everything was delicious! Everywhere I go in kauai I eat the Loco moco, KIBs kalua pork Loco moco is the best on the island. If you came to kauai for the right reasons then KIB is a MUST! Staff was exceptional! read more

After the like warm reviews, I was hesitant to try. We had super quick friendly service and tasty brew pub grub. Split a Caesar (anchovies always a must) and Kailua pork sliders (3). Plenty of food for 2. Cheers and Aloha! read more

The food was not good. I usually just grab a drink after work, but I ordered food for my family (chicken sandwich, fish sandwich, calamari and fish tacos = $80). So, everything tasted previously frozen and was poor quality. The fish was stinky and the chicken was thinner than the tip of my finger. The service was good, the beer is good... but the food was really bad and over priced. read more

Coconut shrimp - delicious Calamari - surprisingly our most favorite thing here Pork sliders - good too Onion rings - ok, ours were a little over done & greasy Good cocktails in addition to the local brews Pleasant staff - available when you needed them Only negative was they were out of a couple things we wanted to try and the atmosphere is pretty, well, non-existent? Good vibes, live entertainment and beer selection was good. Food is meh, hubby ordered something burger and I ordered calamari (surprised that they were sticks instead of fresh squid) and ordered something else but forgot lol. There stout was smooth. So good. I've been to a lot of breweries, and hot damn: food, beer, and music trifecta plus Hawaii. We had the Kalua pizza, the surf and turf special, along with the banana foster cheesecake and a slurry of beer. Steak was good, but nothing to review. The shrimp though.... Holy Moses! And the pizza was so delicious. As for the beer, if I could fit a keg in my luggage, I would have. The Au'rye IPA was my favorite and incredible; I had first had a flight to taste a bunch and also ordered the Captain Cook. Note, I liked everything I tasted. On a separate comment, the musician was very talented and performed a very relaxing and enjoyable acoustic one-man show. Even my father-in-law, who doesn't care for live music, enjoyed the show and repeated his admiration for the quality of the musician's skills. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I want to give it a 5 so badly. Sadly, the beer is more a 3 - selection is best on the island but flavors aren't quite there. The food however is a 5 so average 4 overall. Great place for some comfort food. read more

Kauai Island Brewing Company, Kauai's oldest brewery and pub, located in downtown Port Allen directly across from all the tour boat companies on the west side of Kauai. Sadly I've never been there when she's there. I noticed some of the storefronts like Little Fish were closed on this trip. I was told that other towns like Kilauea are also doing Friday events and some vendors don't want to travel to the other side of the island anymore. But I noticed an entire new retail space, that's exciting! Regardless, there's plenty to eat! Persian food, Puerto Rican, Hawaiian BBQ, Thai, and the pie stand is to die for. Make sure you come hungry! Behind the spice store there's an old bridge, make sure you check it out. Also there's an interesting space next to the post office the sign marks the pathway "Storybook", two chairs were set up on a stage. But there was no one in sight. The Friday Artwalk is definitely an adventure that I recommend to tourists and locals alike!

Had an awesome time at Kauai Island Brewing! Our bartender, Chase, was fantastic - super friendly and really made us feel welcome. My boyfriend had the German Pilsner, which was crisp and refreshing, while I enjoyed the Lilikoi Ale, with its perfect tropical flavor. We shared the fish tacos, and they were fresh and delicious! Great food, great drinks, and excellent service. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Kauai!!! read more

The beer selection was good, we tried all IPA's but my favorite was coffee stout. We stopped on the way to canyon and it was all packed. Server Kim was very attentive , fast and took great care of us . We wanted to try their pizza but they didn't serve it until the early everything. We'd love to go back before we leave. Came here on a whim, kids were hungry and tired, so we thought we'd give it a try. Definitely has a local vibe, but large and accommodating. I don't drink, but my husband enjoyed the beer.
