Finding this spot while my partner lived in Lewisburg was a massive relief. Not only is the food consistently amazing, she is Russian and it brought her back to the food from the place of her birth. But even as an American my whole life, this food is just universally good. We always got big portions and never felt too weighed down. It obviously of homemade quality with love as if you are part of the family. The hospitality is fantastic and seeing how many people come in there weary of travel but finding good food and feeling also creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place enough. One of my favorite places - my partner moved back to NY where we will have some great food here - but kavkaz isn't just "better" in quality than it's neighboring towns. It is up to par with the best restaurants out her way too. With my primary residence in Hawley PA, all I can say is I wish they relocated to here!!!! The food is amazing. Lived in Europe for many years. Since returning I have not been able to find food this flavorful. We were heading east on I80(exit 192). So happy to find this place. Self service. Walk up to the counter, read the menu, push a button and someone comes out to take your order. She gives you a buzzer and you wait at the table you have chosen. Pick up your tray, when your meal is ready. Pay after and clear your own table. No frills. I love the simplicity.

Giving this an overall 5 star because I really review for food vs ambiance. Food was delicious. We got the dish with eggs, cheese in bread and it was perfectly cooked. Our friend, who never had Russian/Ukrainian food loved this so much. Bread was soft, eggs were slightly runny. Cheese had so much flavor. We also got their homemade bread. Again, perfectly made as bread should be with a yeasty smell and flavor. The dumplings (manti) were good as well. Very flavorful, filled with minced meat and onions and spices. We also got the chicken kabab and loved how the chicken chunks were grilled with a crispy layer to it. Cabbage rolls were smaller than a typical Polish cabbage roll, but still tasty. Not dried out. Flavorful. We wish it were closer to us. It's about 100 miles from us and we stopped here on our drive home. Ambiance is lacking as it's more like a trucker stop. And you order at the counter and they call you when your food is ready. But to us the food is worth it. Would def a road trip to come back. 5-star food 3-star ambiance

Self-service: You order at the counter and get a badge. The badge rings when your first is ready. Plenty of room for sitting down with friends. This is our first time so we ordered a bunch of items. Laghman was a bowl of stew with bucatini-like noodles. Georgian chicken stew was comforting and delicious. Bread was awesome, crusty with a soft interior. Cheesy bread was thin and stuffed with melty cheese. Samsa seemed to have a phyllo ish type of wrapper and beef filling was similar to the one in manti. Mantis were beefy with oniony punch. I didn't get to try the kebabs. It's about half an hour drive for us and we'll come back!

This authentic, roadside gem was such a welcome surprise in our travels. I wish we had this restaurant in East TN! Yummm! The cabbage rolls, chicken schnitzel, and cheese bread were so good. We highly recommend!

Very large loaf of bread (optional) with the meal.

Delicious and well-made food with quality ingredients, friendly and professional staff, and large portions. They also have some grocery items for sale which is nice.

Family friendly Kavkaz restaurant. Plenty of parking.

There is no question. This is a MUST stop place. From the Khachapuri by Megreli (cheesy bread), and the Manti (dumplings), to the beef kabobs... you'll find something here that will have you dreaming of the next time you come back. Our little family was greeted and treated so kindly. We felt so welcome and can't wait for our next visit!

On a long road trip through rural America between urban centers, it is pretty rare to find a place worth the stop. Kavkaz was definitely one of these rarities. Everything was home made; the bread, borsh, dumplings and meatballs we ordered were all perfection just like out of an Eastern European grandma's kitchen. 10/10 would recommend.

We walked in and nobody greeted us. After standing at the counter for a few minutes, perusing the menu, we rang the bell and someone came out from the back. There were no other people eating there so we weren't competing with others. We started to order and were told everything we wanted wasn't available. After several rejections, we realized it would be easier to ask what WAS available. Unfortunately, not much was able to be ordered and nothing we really wanted could be had. We adjusted our plan and chose several things they did have. We ordered plov. It was mostly rice but nicely (albeit subtly) seasoned. Very little meat. It was served with a small roasted pepper (just a little spice) and a few cloves of roasted garlic that you need to squeeze and mix into the plov. Overall, it tasted good. Nothing spectacular, but good comfort food. I do think the small amount of the meat makes it a struggle to call it an entree. I don't feel like it's worth the $10.99 price tag for the amount you get and the small amount of meat. We ordered manti. For $8.99 you get four medium sized manti. The dough is inconsistent. Good manti has a dough that is pretty tender. This dough was decent in the center, but the edges were too tough. We couldn't cut through them with the side of a fork. The meat filling was very chewy (perhaps we just got a chewy cow) but the flavors were spot on. It was like eating in a Uzbeki restaurant in Eurasia. It was served with the pourable sour cream often served with manti. I prefer my manti with vinegar, but the dish was decent as served. I feel $2.25 per manti is a bit high for what you get. However, if you've never eaten food from Uzbekistan and want to try a traditional dish - get this. We really wanted the pilmeni - but they were out. We also ordered a single lamb kebab. The flavor was good, but the size of the order was not appropriate for $5.99. It had a decent charred flavor, but the chunks were pretty thin and the only thing served with it was some onion. For that price, a little rice or bread would help you feel like it's enough for a meal. We also ordered 2 soups. Kharcho and Shurpa. Both were $8.99 and the amount of soup in the containers felt way too small for that price. The Kharcho had a flavor we preferred and it was easier to eat. It's like a beef and rice broth-based soup with some unique flavors. Very yummy and comforting - but seems like a $5.99 price tag would be a better price. The Shurpa included a chunk of meat on the bone and a large piece of potato. The menu says it includes chick peas, but there weren't any. The flavor, in the opinion of my family, was boring. The bones made it hard to eat the meat and the potato added nothing but something to work around when eating the soup. Both felt mostly like beef broth with rice and a little meat with some seasonings. We really wanted the kutabi, olivier salad, eggplant salad, men's caprese salad, borscht soup, and pilmeni. They had none of these available. It was over $20 per person for lunch and we were barely full at the end. I'm not sure how long they have been open but they need to be able to offer more of their menu items. They also need to increase the portion sizes or reduce the prices. I'm glad we tried it. It was nice to eat manti from a restaurant and not have to buy it frozen at a Russian grocery store or make it ourselves. I'm willing to give them a few more weeks to get into the groove and check it out again. In the mean time, I hope they make some adjustments. If, upon my return, they have more things I actually want to eat - and have adjusted the value for my $$$ - I'll gladly raise the number of stars. If not, it's a good place to try just to say you've tried it.

I ordered online for pickup (Arayes and Falafel) and the problems started. I received both a web notice and an email that my food would be immediately ready for pickup. Seemed weird, but I figured perhaps they have a good amount staged and could just bag it. Once I arrived at the store I was greeted by an empty host counter, and when someone finally showed up he looked annoyed and bored to be there. I told him about the order and he went to check. I saw him in the dining area a few times afterwards, but no stop up front to say "just a few minutes" or such. Eventually (truthfully, not long after - perhaps 7 minutes) he came out with a bag and said, "Here you go sir. Jonathan, right?" -- "Josh", I replied --- "Something like that." he said, maintaining bored eye contact with anywhere but my face. Despite the hiccups, I arrived home excited to try the food. I was immediately disappointed. Both dishes were supposed to come with sauce - Tahini with the falafel and Tzatziki with the Arayes. There was no sauce. I call the restaurant - it went to voicemail. I drove back - waited again at the empty host counter, and was eventually greeted by a young woman. She was much more welcoming and engaged than the prior person. I explained what happened and she said she would be right back. A few minutes later the original guy came back with a bag with "Sorry about that". I got home and immediately regretted not looking in the bag while still at the restaurant. I received two containers of Tahini and one of some mystery green sauce. Google tells me that Tzatziki can be green, but this neither tastes nor looks like any tzatziki I've ever had. (Not being a culinary expert I don't mind being corrected if I am wrong here) All sauces refrigerator cold. Maybe they are supposed to be? Checking the menu to see if I misremembered, I saw that they were also supposed to come with some sort of "arabic bread" which was missing. I did not call again and resigned myself to eating the already lukewarm food. The falafel was overcooked and very dry. Reminded me of hockey pucks. One bite was enough. Now we get to the redeeming part of the story... the Arayes are phenomenal. They need no sauce. 10/10. I am all for paying well for high-quality food and service, but I won't be giving any more money to this establishment until/unless they iron out their hospitality and quality processes. Truly a shame, because the interior looks nice and someone there really knows how to cook.
