I've never visited this bakery prior to COVID but I assume all the ropes and barricades for not entering far into the store is for COVID safety. They don't have breads out for you to see but instead there is a menu of breads and pastries for you to choose from. At the entrance they have a window set up. You let them know your choices and they bag it from behind and then ring you up. I think this is a very safe procedure so customers don't worry about passerbys touching the breads. I just thought they had fewer selections of breads than other bakeries...not sure if that's due to the pandemic as I know other bakeries have been short on ingredients. I ordered a loaf of wheat toast. I haven't found wheat toast in very many other bakeries so that was a plus to me. So far bit into the bbq pork bun and that was delicious. I heated it up in the microwave for a few seconds and the bread was quite soft and the meat filling was good. Other places fill with pieces of fat or tough meats but this was good! For parking I found street parking just right in front of the store. It's a nice quick stop if you just need some bread and don't want to have to go into a supermarket especially right now with the pandemic. read more

I have t been to kee wah bakery in a while so I decided to check out their buns on a Sunday afternoon in January. They had some New Years egg rolls on sale. Lots of the buns are not displayed in the glass window so best to ask. The counter ladies are nice and speak English too, my favorite is the chicken pot pies and crispy egg rolls but I always get the original instead. The pineapple buns was soft and yummy. This bakery is by far the cutest bakery. The best thing in this place is the different selection of cookies. They have butter cookies shaped like little animal (panda, penguin) and they also have cookie rolls that's shaped like a cigar in chocolate vanilla and, my favorite, coffee. My mom always comes in for the cheese bread loaf. They also have different types of bread. I like their coconut bread because unlike most bakeries, this is the only bakery that has coconut bread without the raisins. Yum! Today I came in for their cake selection. And they did not disappoint. They have two clean coolers full of cakes ready for pickup. I ended up with their mango cakes, which was just the right amount of sweetest. On an early foggy Saturday morning, I was desperate for coffee (having just done bloodwork and fasted for 12 hours). Lucky for me, I passed by Kee Wah and found parking on the street right in front. What I ended up with was the most delicious pineapple bun. I'm usually not a fan of pineapple baked buns, especially not at dim sum places. My preference is usually the steamed pork bun, custard bun--you name it. But when I stepped in, I saw that the menu had a combination item for pineapple bun--warmed and freshly baked--with melted butter and a coffee. Granted, the coffee was not a latte, but for $1, I can upgrade to a latte, for a total of $5.25 for the combo. I expected the little pineapple buns I typically see at other bakeries, but Kee Wah's was huge! The faint saltiness of the butter complements the sweetness of this bun so well. The sweetness of it is usually what I dislike, so this definitely made it better. I totally expected this to be a mooncale bakery because that's all I ever went to Kee Wah for in the past. There are tables inside and outside for anyone to drop by and chill. It's nice to see a mini cafe stem from such a popularized traditional bakery. read more
