It's nice to see a Hong Kong-based bakery in my area. I LOVE their Portuguese egg tarts. Now the temptations of it being so available to me aren't the greatest, but I will do my best to manage my cravings! There are a few other locations in the LA area, but they don't have a drink menu like they do here. Try their yuan yang - Hong Kong's famous style black tea brewed with coffee. They have hot and cold pastries. They are currently offering nicely packaged Chinese New Year treats. I bought a box for my future in-laws. They also have a variety of cakes. Been here a couple of times, both in the afternoon and a little before closing time. It's never been busy, which I like. When I came in around 7, I was kind of surprised by how many choices they still had left. Parking: There is a parking lot in the back that they share with other businesses or you can park on the street. Parking was always easy for me to find. Food: I would say I tried at least half of their bread selection and it's pretty decent. My favorite so far would probably be their pineapple bun with the milk powder or cream, forgot exactly what it was. Their custard bun, however, was kind of disappointing to me. I would always get a custard bun at a new bakery I'm trying, but theirs just didn't cut it for me. Service: They usually have about 2 or 3 cashiers every time I have gone there. While their customer service is not the worst, but they can be friendlier. They don't seem to put into much effort to try and put on a nice face, but just seems like they are just there to ring you up. Don't forget to check-in for a free lemon tea or milk tea though. Their lemon tea is not the best, but it is free. Their milk tea may also not be the typical milk tea that you can find at most other boba shops. This particular KW is a good size, is clean, has decent parking, and serves drinks. Some of my favorite items at KW are the Curry Pork Buns and the Curry Pork Pies. I'm a texture eater so something about the texture I love and it has a strong chocolatey flavor and the tartness of this raspberries just make me want more and more I could honestly eat the whole thing for myself but it's big enough for two to have a decent size - Three people if your a good eater can share. (it's 8.00 and worth it for me) and it comes in a cute little carry out box. Now I also really love their egg tarts. They have three kinds and of course I tried them all. The Portuguese (sweeter and flaky crust) , The Crispy also a flaky crust less sweet) and Original - the crust is more like most pie crust. not flaky at all and less sweet. Surprisingly I liked the sweeter one the Portuguese style. I'm not big on sweets but I really enjoyed sweetness in this tart. Located across the street from Coco Fresh with parking on the street and a lot in the back. My husband and I, along with our little girl dog, came by this bakery on Friday late afternoon a little before 5 pm. We sat at a small table outside (there are only 2 small tables outside with chairs that are covered but the sun does shine on your face). After browsing the menu board and browsing the bakery shelves, I ended up getting: Coffee or tea combo with sweet bread or tart, $3.68 prior to tax- My husband got the Iced Hong Kong milk tea (normally this drink would cost $3.25 by itself) and the bread I picked for him was this green tea baked bread. My selfish husband unfortunately devoured this before I could get a chance to try it. But according to my husband, he thought it was average (I wouldn't know though... ). I thought my drink was refreshing but would have liked this drink to be made with black tea instead (I think I am one of the only Chinese people who doesn't like green tea). So happy that Kee Wah Bakery only opened in Arcadia! Not the most ideal location since Baldwin is so busy, but luckily you can make a right onto Fairview and park in the relatively empty parking lot. Because the bakery is so new, it definitely stand apart from the Monterey Park locations (and reminds me of their HK shops!). Everything looks shiny and new, with each item having a specific spot in the store. I came here relatively early on a Friday morning and most of the bread was still loaded onto the trays - the workers had to help me get the bread I wanted, rather than me picking the biggest pineapple bun for myself. Otherwise, there's usually a small space for bread to be placed for customers to choose from. There's also lots of other goodies and merchandise for sale at this store. Taste of the bread and pastries is consistent with what you'd find at all other Kee-Wah bakeries. The pineapple bread is one of my favorites - with a crispy "pineapple" topping and a soft, fluffy bread. It definitely tastes the best when it's fresh out of the oven. Another favorite is the custard bun with the big dollop of cream in the middle - tastes great when it's warm, but it's probably unhealthy. Egg tarts also look incredibly captivating as they sit under the warm toaster. At $1.50 each, I think the price isn't too bad. They taste amazing and the crust of the flaky egg tarts - on point. I've also tried a variety of cakes from Kee-Wah - chestnut was really good, but the coffee chestnut cake tasted a little weird for my liking. Mango mousse was standard - 85 has a better one. Black forest was my favorite. More cake than cream for most of the cakes. tl;dr - Really glad there's a Kee-Wah in the Arcadia area! I got the 6 egg tart,3 crown Royal pineapple bun a chicken pie and a curry pie for my mom total count all around 30 bucks without discount. With this count is under $20. They are really busy the store was packed and my order was ready everything was hot, I know because I couldn't wait to get home once I pop into that car I can't help myself not to get an egg tart. I didn't take pictures because the heart was soft and it seems like it have been squished and the tart crumbles. Which is okay because taste is what matters, the egg tart doesn't taste to have any egg in it, it was pale yellow. I get it with inflation and not raising price as much of course they have to use less egg. I went home put everything on the table and next day morning I woke up everything's gone. My family set the tart was okay they like the pineapple bun and the other pastry I ordered from the store. I give them four star for not using food coloring to make the egg tart looks more yellow. My mom love the curry pie and my father like the chicken pastry. I love coming to Kee Wah Bakery. There is always something I want that they are out of but what that tells me is that I have good taste along with so many other folks but that they beat me to the bakery that day and so I'll just have to keep on trying to make it there earlier. I have enjoyed so many of their pastries and haven't been disappointed. My kiddo likes their buns with the hot dogs in them. She likes those for breakfast. When we called them outside the store- they REQUIRED we go inside to pick up. 2) When I went inside, they also REQUIRED me to sign for the order even though it was already paid and under my name. I understand this as a formality during normal times, but during a pandemic? Especially you're already forcing me to go inside contrary to your advertisement? 1/5 stars for bait and switch - either lose the $30+ order or be forced to go inside unprepared (luckily I had a mask in the car). I've been a long time customer of Kee Wah Bakery. I always order their egg tarts and their mooncakes. I preordered my Mother's Day cake using the discounted code of 10 percent they emailed me to pick up today at 12pm. This is my first time ordering their cakes. I honestly didn't know they made cake because I always go to their smaller locations in Alhambra. I also ordered 2 coconut buns, 4 crispy egg tarts, 2 regular egg tarts, and 2 BBQ pork meat pies. They are doing curb side pick up at the rear lot. They have a tent set up and there's an employee who is writing down your last name and the last 4 digits of your order number. He was wearing a face screen mask. Then he told me to sit back in my car. They had several runners delivering the food to the customer's cars. There were quite a number of people waiting in the lot In their cars and some just lining up and waiting outside. It took about 15-20 minutes before they gave me my order. Great bakery for gifts. This is one of the oldest and most well known bakery brand from Hong Kong. I practically grew up with their breads and mooncake. But even though the brand is old, their designs are doing a great job with keeping up with modern times. They have a great selection of cookies and pastries packaged really nicely that you can give as gifts. They also have 喜饼 cards (basically good looking gift cards) that you can use as wedding favors. As for the everyday baked goods... Not the best or the cheapest in the neighborhood, since there are at least 3 really good bakeries nearby. But it's a good deal when they offer groupons. It is also a good place to get Hong Kong style breads like 鸡尾包 that the other bakeries in the area don't have. For parking, thw easiest thing to do is to just park on the street in front of the store. It might be easy to miss though since there is no big sign and it's not in a plaza. read more
