This was the first time I ever took my car to have it professionally detailed. I would always wash and wax my car. Usually when you take your car somewhere, they would miss a few spots. Before going to Keith Thompson I called a few places in the area and explained what I needed done to my car. Everyone gave me a very general answer as to what would be done, yet when I called Keith Thompson, they went into detail about what needed to be done and why (chemically speaking). That was a done deal. I dropped off my car feeling good about the place but when I picked it up I was even more so impressed. The inside of the car was detailed to perfection and the spill and smell was completely gone! I'm going back so they can work on the exterior of the car soon. This place is absolutely amazing and awesome!!! I bought a Groupon for an exterior detail. When I got there James was helping me out. He explained what the the process was and the order in which things would be done. My car had some pretty nasty scratches and James hooked me up with a sweet deal to get them fixed. Left my car at 9am and it was good to go at 130pm. 4.5 hours may sound long but it is a small sacrifice for the quality work this shop does. My car looks like it just got a new paint job. DO NOT GO HERE! I called to schedule an interior and exterior detail service for a minivan and when I was asked how I heard of this place, I mentioned Groupon. Right away the owner changed his tone of voice and said the Groupon did not include vans. I then told him that there was no mention of this in the fine print, but that I was aware of an additional fee for bigger vehicles, just not specifically for vans. He said he would charge me the same normal fee if I used the Groupon. In other words, the Groupon was of no use (to which I had paid $135). I tried arguing my case, which he did not like and got extremely rude with me and said he did not want to provide me any service and then hung up on me. I have contacted Groupon and have received my money back and I've also placed a complaint on this business. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE, EVER! Deserves ZERO STARS.... I would NOT recommend this place unless you want your car paint or interior parts ruined!! I purchased two of the Groupon interior/exterior detail. As many of the reviews state I did have to wait two months for an appointment, but he honors the Groupon as long as you make the appointment before the expiration date but at that point you cannot get a refund from Groupon. I had two cars detailed here. He adds more money because he claims since the interior is black it would cost more because it hides the dirt and makes for more work, Seriously, I should of walked away at this point. I had a 03 vw gti and a 07 ford fusion detailed. The vw came back with deep scratching on the hood and the ford fusion came back with interior door panel plastic arms rests and handles faded. He claims it happens to Fords. He claimed he would fix it but in the long run all he did was paint the parts. Which down the road the paint will scratch and come off. We thought he was gonna replace the parts he never told us he was just going to paint the parts. I should go to the better business bureau but this guy hasn't claimed the Groupon as of date and he doesn't give you receipts with proof of the things he does to your car. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!! I had been to Keith's shops in former locations here in Downey, but it was a long time ago. His work was excellent then and it is now. I just bought a 10 year old car that was neglected top to bottom, inside and out. The interior stains covered about 80% of the surface area. This was not only aesthetically displeasing, it smelled like a trash can and a sweaty ass had a battle til the death. They both won (temporarily). Keith's team came flying in off the top rope and threw them outta the ring! The interior looks like new. The seat covers I bought can be returned. The short story: I had my exterior and interior detailed, and they did a great job. My Lexus IS250 regained its beautiful black luster, and they took care of all the scratches on my car. I would definitely recommend Keith Thompson for car detailing. The long story: I'm a terrible car owner, and I don't know much about caring for my car. I've had my sexy lexy for 8 years and had never had it detailed. At the most, I brought my car to a car wash once a month. My husband told me my car needed to be detailed before irreversible damage on the paint gets really bad. I looked up car detailing places in the area (thank you yelpers for giving accurate reviews!). I called up Keith Thompson Professional Detailing, and spoke with Keith. He was the only person I interacted during the whole process. He was really friendly and kind and told me to bring the car in so he could assess what needed to be done. When he saw my car he was like, "I'm looking at your car and I'm guessing you've never done any detailing to your car." So my car was in bad shape due to my negligence. I think Keith picked up on my anxiety and unsureness of having my car detailed for the first time did a great job with explaining in detail everything that he was going to do. He was very confident that my car would be taken care of, which assured me. Dropping bills on a company that you are trying out for the first time is always scary, since you do not know first hand how the quality turns out. Because there was a lot to be done on my car, it was going to take a long time. Also, when I bought my car my dad had this sealant thing placed in my interior, which years later has deteriorated my dashboard leaving my dash hella sticky and weird. He had never seen something like that but he said he will try his best on working on it. I was to pick up my car the next day, but prior to pick up time he gave me a call asking for more time to work on my dashboard. I really appreciated that he took on the challenge of getting rid of the stickiness on my dashboard because it shows his dedication to doing his best. Unfortunately my dashboard is completely messed up and nothing he tried worked, but I didn't expect him to fix it - it's pretty bad. In the end my car looks great, the shine to it has come back, and the scratches are nonexistent. There are some small marks on my car, which I attribute to me not caring for my car and can't be repaired. But overall, a job well done and I do trust the company with my car. read more

Follow-Up. Today, I had scheduled an additional appointment with Keith to remove the "Clear Bra" from my BMW. The "Clear Bra" had been on my vehicle since I took delivery. Even though 3M stated the film had a "lifetime guarantee" I knew it was time to remove it. Yes, 3M would stand behind their film but in time the film will become discolored. Prior to finding Keith, many "professionals" had told me once I removed the clear bra the paint would not match (covered area would have a darker tone compared to fading on the unprotected areas.) Their remedies and solutions were "unacceptable." Two weeks ago, when I had treated my vehicle to a complete detail, Keith stated he could remove the "Clear Bra" and the paint would match. Stating that this man knows his business is an "Understatement!" When I saw my vehicle, once again I was AMAZED! I could not see any sign that there had been any film on my vehicle... Found this place on groupon took my honda accord 03 to get a detailing i dont recall how much i paid for the groupon im thinking 130$ also it came with a 50$ gift card to return for future business. So i called to make an appt for another interior detailing on my honda civic on the phone i spoke with an employee the price ranges were about 150$ so i went out of my way to take the car showed up in person and these people wanted 450.00$ that's fucken ridiculous. They basically said i would need to pay an additional 70$ to have the interior cleaned. It was false advertising to say that for a certain amount you would get a service done, only told later that you would have to pay an additional 70$ no matter how clean the inside looked to begin with. I wanted to get detailing service done and a Groupon lured me in. They did an amazing job. I've got "little people" who manage to leave crumbs and stains and they cleaned all the carpet, seat belts, cupholders and pretty much took out every stain that was there. WHAT A SCAM!! Called for my mom who received a Groupon as a gift and didn't know how to go about using the coupon. Keith claimed he was booked until MID-October (so everyday they're slammed? Sure). Then claimed that because it's a Murano it would fall under the SUV category and it would run an additional $50 - 100 extra (in addition to the Groupon). I don't think many of the people using a Groupon are giving an accurate review. When I called to make my appointment it was made for about 3 weeks in the future but I didn't think anything of it since any business is typically booked after a great Groupon. When I arrived, the owner of the establishment proceeded to tell me he only had 1.5 hours to work on my car as per the terms and conditions of the Groupon; however that would not be sufficient to get my car clean. If I was willing to leave my car there longer and pay an additional fee for the time that it would take to clean my car then he assured me I would be satisfied. I work with pets and therefore I understood that my car may need additional work, time, etc. I left the car there for the remainder of the day and when I picked it up I was ecstatic. My car was not clean, it was pristine! I nearly cried. In addition to removing the malodorous smoke smell some inconsiderate person had left behind, there was some black moldy stuff growing on the carpet behind the passenger seat and he got it out! And it hasn't come back! And it's been 2 months!!! This stuff was growing on the carpet, not the floor mat and I mean growing, I was at the point where if he didn't get it out I was going to have to consider getting a new car. I am sincerely grateful, thanks to the Groupon I found a business where professionalism, service, and kindness is all they deliver. read more

Seems like there is a common trend with dissatisfied Groupon customers. Well, I also purchased a Groupon for interior detailing and I thought they did a pretty decent job. However, everything that has been said by other Groupon customers is true. I called for an appointment early March and got one for mid-April. I wasn't really in a rush so I didn't have much to complain about, but do keep this delay in mind if you're thinking of purchasing the Groupon. I was also warned over the phone about an extra fee for heavily soiled cars. Seeing that my car seems fairly average in terms of dirtiness I didn't think much about the warning. Well, I showed up on the day of the appointment and was indeed quoted an extra $40 by James, the attendant. He was polite about the whole ordeal but wasn't able to come up with any solid explanation besides that my car has a black interior. He states that since it would take more than two hours he would have to tack on the extra fee. I wish I had taken pictures of my car's interior (2013 dodge charger) since everyone's definition of dirty is different, but trust me when I say that my car was by no means dirty to the point when it would take more than two hours by a team of experienced workers. I didn't purchase the Groupon because my car was dirty, I purchase the interior detailing because I wanted to pamper my car. Anyhow, I sternly rejected the offer and James tried to bargain it down to $25. After I rebuffed his offer again he finally relented and said he'll "take care of it". I picked up my car two hours later and I must say they did an awesome job! After tipping James $10 I happily left the place. TL;DR - Professional service despite a somewhat shady practice. Next appointment Keith tells me? October 31st!!! Today is September 27th...that's more than a month away! Who would buy a coupon for a detailing and want to wait more than a month? I could see a few days, maybe even a week, but a whole month.....umm....NO! Seems to me Keith needs to hire a few ghouls and goblins to help him with his "back-orders". I cancelled my purchase from Groupon right away (make sure you don't print the coupon until you are sure you want to use it, or you won't be refunded!). If I were to have been a cash wielding customer, paying full price, I'd probably be sitting in his waiting area, right now flipping through a People Magazine. Warning! I called this morning, left a voice message, a day after purchasing my Groupon, and the owner Keith tries to schedule you out 6-8 weeks. When I complain that he called me back to get business for the same day, I got the, "oh we can't do group on customers now" (Their question to figure out if it's a groupon is "how did you hear about us"). Uh, where is that in the fine print that you can postpone groupon customers?Then I tell him if he can't arrange for within the next two weeks, I'm going to write up on Yelp, BBB etc. that this is a scam! Surprise surprise, he finds a time available in two weeks after re-checking. But then, (the nerve I tell you) the soil disclaimer gets slipped in.. LOL. What a load of crap! Immediately returned my Groupon, but felt the need to make all his customers aware. Daytime robbery, 100%! Don't cheat customers if you want to bring in business with a Groupon. The guy who answered told me they had NO weekend appointments until after the expiration date of my Groupon. (The Groupon was purchased on Feb 7th and expired 5 months later. I had called to book an appointment the SAME DAY I bought the Groupon.) I am pretty sure most people would want weekend appointments. If you know going in that you cannot accommodate, you should include that information on the Groupon listing! I explained to the guy that I couldn't take time off work to drive to Downey just to get my car detailed and asked if there was anything he could do to help. Find somewhere else!!! I saw this company on Groupon and wanted to call to set up an appointment. The guy who answered the phone was extremely unprofessional, I've talked to better at McDonalds. He asked me what kind of car I had, I told him that I had a Rav4. He told me that SUV's cost more than what the Groupon includes which I expected. When I asked him how much more they charge, he said he would have to see my car to see how dirty it is. This blew my mind. There is a standard cost for a sedan but if I have a small SUV the pricing isn't standard, it is based on how dirty it is. WHAT???? I asked him what the minimum addition would be and it was ADDITIONAL $50 for my small SUV and that is if they determined it was clean enough to clean for $190 bucks but it could go up to double my Groupon. No thank you and thank goodness I called before buying the groupon. I wanted to save a little but I can get a top notch detail somewhere less sketchy for less than $200. ****UPDATE**** 20 minutes after leaving this review I received a call from the boy (purposefully not calling him a man) at this company to yell at me for leaving this honest review. Hello Yelpers, I used a Groupon for an Interior Car Detailing Package for Keith Thompson Professional Detailing and it was great! I added an interior leather cleaning option for an additional $50.00, which was definitely worth it. The whole process took about two hours, but James (the car detailer) was very thorough and takes pride in the work he does. My car interior looked brand new and smelled great afterwards! I met the owner, Keith Thompson, who made me and the other customers feel at home. There was a large waiting area with plenty of seating, a fridge containing water and fruit, and a restroom. There is also a nearby mall with shopping and restaurants within walking distance in case you want to venture out for a couple hours and pick up your car later. Overall, Keith and his staff were amazing! I highly recommend giving this business a go for all car detailing needs.
