My parents both have "foot issues" and I recently did a baby peel on my feet so they were peeling and really gross. All of us had excellent pedicures and the ladies were super nice and accommodating. Kendra's nail salon is one of the gems in downtown Menlo Park. Even though I moved away I still come back to get my nails done here. Why? Four reasons: quality, consistency, ambience, and customer service. Quality: I tried several salons all over the Bay Area, and once you've had Kendra do your nails, you can spot flaws in the work from other salons (edges not smooth, gel chips off, colors are tacky, massage isn't relaxing). Consistency: It doesn't matter who does your nails at Kendra's, she checks off on the work. I've never had a mani or pedi there that I regretted. Ambience: It is a clean, cheerful, and relaxed atmosphere at Kendra's. Her mother also works at the salon, and she has such a graceful presence. You can tell it is a family business. Customer service: Kendra is so warm, welcoming, and vivacious -- she gets to know her customers personally. A few times I ruined my mani or pedi, and even a few days later Kendra and her staff fixed it for no extra charge. Every time I go in, Kendra accommodates me no matter how busy the salon is. The price may be steep for some but it is worth it. My mani and pedis last twice as long as from other places. read more

Came yesterday for a gel manicure and pedicure - my first in months! I requested an appointment online and they were very quick to respond. The mani/pedi were outside, with all the chairs well-distanced. Everyone was in a mask and very attentive to safety protocol. And then the treatments were fantastic, too, very thorough with lots of massaging! A great treat after 6 months of scary toes! read more

Kendra did my toes for my first time here today. I have to be honest, in my 15+ years getting my nails done this was the first time I have been happy to give someone my money!!! She did a fantastic job, I have really dry feet. Today they are as smooth as a babies bottom. I did the basic pedi with an extra callous removal which is my normal at other salons. I'm visiting Menlo Park from North Carolina and I have been pretty hard on my feet recently. I knew the Yelp reviews for this place were kind of hit and miss, but I decided to give it a go anyway. I went in early, about 9:15am? And I am so glad I did! There was already one other person in a chair and Kendra, who made sure to introduce herself to me, told me where to sit because she said she had other appointments coming at 10:00. Her mother came in about the same time I did, and it ended up being her that got my feet ready for the polish, then Kendra did the polish herself. During the course of my pedicure, an older woman came in and asked for a nail repair. I gathered that she was a regular because Kendra told her she should have called. The woman had to wait for at least 20 minutes, and in the mean time, the 10:00 appointments arrived. Kendra was obviously having to balance a lot of customers at one time. I think if you are a walk-in, don't wait until 10:00 or 11:00 am to go. The only reason I think I was attended to so quickly is because I walked in early. I got good service and I think the shop is really cute. read more

Just had the best pedicure tonight at absolutely nails and spa! Celebrated my friends birthday!

I was excited about coming here because it seemed like a nice spot based on the reviews. I opted in for a gel manicure because Kendra assured me that it would last 2 weeks and a normal manicure would not. I also got a regular pedicure. The process itself was ok, it took about an hour for both. After leaving I noticed I had black specks on my fingers that had been painted over. I debated going back and complaining, but since I was going on vacation the next day, I just sucked it up. Aside from the bubbles and black spots on my nails, the gel started coming off about 7 days in! Either the nail polish was bad, or she had applied too many layers of polish. By day 10, polish on 3 nails had completely come off. Considering I paid $85 for the services, I was NOT happy. I went back in as soon as I got back from vacation (about 2 weeks later and at that point had about 4 nails left with polish. I showed up on a Saturday at 10am (when they're supposed to open) and they hadn't opened yet. I had to wait about 15 min for someone to show up. When they did, the lady barely spoke English. When I told her what had happened and showed her the black dots on my nails, she told me Kendra was on vacation and to come back 4 days later. I told her I didn't live in the area and wouldn't be able to, but she just ignored me and told me to come back. Poor quality and terrible customer service. I won't be going back. read more

I have been using Kendra's services for over 15 years. I have followed her from a salon to her own business in two different locations. In all those years, I have never heard her say "no" to a client, whether they were long time, or a brand-new walk-in. I have never had a bad manicure, gels, or pedicure. Kendra invests in her salon, always having the latest and greatest in pedicure chairs. If I ever moved from the Peninsula, I want to take Kendra with me! I cannot imagine going anywhere else for my nails. read more

After trying several salons when I moved to the area with mediocre service and quality, I was thrilled to find Kendra. I've lived in both NYC and The Bay Area and this is the only nail salon I've been loyal to in the last 15 years. Once you go to Kendra and her team, you'll never want to go anywhere else. Back in December 2016, while they were closed for renovation, I had my pedicure done by one of the employees (momentarily at a different location). I was very pleased back then and I was looking forward to get my pedi at their new location for my birthday late in January. I made an appointment for two a week earlier. My friend and I showed up on time and the owner had to call two pedicurists as there was not enough employee. The owner made sure I was always taken care of, had water and comfortable and this is the plus. Unfortunately the actual pedicure was one of the worst I had in a while. I told them my toenails tend to become ingrown and it takes an experienced pedicurist to know what to do, so they can last at least a month. This was not the case. After a week, my toenails started to hurt and the nail polish was already chipping. I really wanted to like this salon, but I would not go back. My friend was not impressed either. read more

I honestly thought this place was going to be 10times better than i imagined. The reviews made me select this salon and i only expected a 5 star. Started with a broken massage chair... no massage available. I was in this shop for over two hours. A refill and a gel pedicure, which were done at the same time ? Not sure what took so long. My nails are all different shapes. There is air bubbles on 5 of my nails. I'm a very unhappy customer mind you i paid 100 dollars for a shitty service! Not what i was expecting. Took my daughters for a girls day and they just loved it. They took such good care of my daughters and for that we will come back.

Went here for a pedicure and manicure. I came on a Sunday at 10am and I was the only one there for an hour. Parking was easy when I got there. There is a public lot behind. The massage for my feet was amazing! It was at least ten minutes and felt great. The massage on my arms and shoulders was actually really rough. I deducted one star because I felt like It was more expensive than other places around. I paid $75 before tip for gel manicure and regular pedicure. My gel manicure lasted a week (5 days) before chipping. So I wished it stayed longer. Color was nice, people were great, and the massage on my feet was great. Rough massage on arms, price and chipping in five days wasn't so great. read more

I really liked this place. I emailed on Friday to make an appointment on Sunday and didn't hear back - until later that night, when I got a text saying that the email system was having trouble but that I was booked in. I thought that was really lovely, and going the extra mile! My appointment was on a Sunday at 11am. There were about 4 others getting mani / pedis, but the place was calm and quiet, very relaxing. Great comfortable chairs that you can adjust + add massage features. Huge nail polish selection. They offer coffee/ tea ect. The lady that did the prep for my pedicure was wonderful, did a lovely long leg/ foot massage and prepped the nails really well. Kendra did the polish, and it looks great - very even and cleanly done. $40 for about 45 mins of comfort + tip (they prefer cash - I only had card which was a shame, next time I will bring cash). This is the best nail place i've been too in the area, good price (considering how expensive the area is/ can be) and nice people. I'll be back! read more

This nail spa is the best!!! I was going to Precious Nails in Redwood City on Woodside Road which was dirty and the girls spoke loudly in their language which was very disturbing to most of us. I didn't know about this nail spa until a good friend recommended it to me. The new spa is so quiet and relaxing (No TV!) the girls are so friendly and talented. I usually come here for a manicure because I've always felt they do a good job. They are pretty pricey but it is a pricey area. I came for a pedicure last week and I was not in flip flops. It is freezing cold here and I assumed, as most nail salons, they would give me those foam sandals to wear out. I came about 2 hours before closing and they made me wait with my feet in the spa chair for 40 minutes. When she started my pedicure it was pretty good. She cut the nails how I wanted etc. She painted them and then I waited about 10 minutes and she said I could go home. I said, "but my nails are wet, I don't want to put my flats back on." She said "no they dry." The pedicure was $35. As I am on my way home I check my toes at a signal light and the two big toes are messed up completely. I rush home and see if I have matching nail polish to fix it, I do not. So I call them and they said "come back we fix for you." Ok, fine I will drive back in the middle of traffic to get my toes fixed. I come back and they take the nail polish off, and start repainting. WITHOUT BASE COAT! Then she said do not wear your shoes, obviously, and blames me for messing it up and to "be careful nail polish smear when not dry". Why make me leave if it is not dry? They blamed ME for the mess up when THEY rushed me out because they were closing. 1) don't blame your loyal customers for your mistakes 2) don't let someone leave after a pedicure and make them wear their closed toed shoes 3) get some foam flip flops for your customers or don't perform pedicures when someone does not have open toed shoes 4) offer some sort of compensation to your guests for your mess ups they have lost a loyal customer and I will vehemently say that no one should go here. read more

They have comfortable recliner chairs, free wifi for catching up on work while waiting for nail polish to dry, and incorporate massage into standard pedicure or manicure. Not sure how this place gets such high marks. Pedi is still fairly expensive ($35) despite a small selection of colors, fairly dingy environment, and sloppy work. Charisma on El Camino has been a consistently better experience in comparison for equivalent prices. read more

Mani and pedi were sloppy and even though I just got them done I am finding that I need to go to my regular place to have them cleaned up. Went for a pedicure this morning, after my run, and really enjoyed the leg & foot massage that preceded the actual pedicure. Massage chairs are also a plus. The staff is super friendly and remembered me even though I've only been there a couple of times before and not for a long time (surprising, now that I think about it).
