I am a shellac manicure addict who just moved to Menlo Park from out of state. I literally looked at the yelp site of every nearby nail salon before deciding to visit Absolutely Nails & Hair. They did not disappoint! Friendly, fast service, good quality product, and a meticulous, well-done manicure. $33 for a shellac manicure and as a walk-in on a weekday afternoon, I was seated immediately and out in just under an hour. I am definitely a fan! Have had sporadic manicures here for years. I was always nervous about cleanliness at other salons but witnessed the foot spas being cleaned and the tools being sterilized and decided that I should have pedicures too. Now I go regularly and am extremely happy with the end product. Comfortable massage chairs, wonderful arm and leg massages too! Flexible schedule, I have had many spur of the moment appointments, My shellac manicure lasts forever and only needs to be done again because my nails have grown so long. My feet have never felt better and I always look forward to my next visit. Prices are comparable to other local salons. Credit cards accepted but cash preferred. Amazing! I walked in for the first time today for a regular manicure and was really taken aback by how wonderful it was. I was seated immediately in a very comfortable chair and no one hassled me for a pedicure. The owner was on her way out but she stopped and sat down next to me and we actually had a conversation. After she left I had a wonderful experience with Han (I hope I'm spelling her name right!) she did a lovely job on my nails and I got to chat with her as well, something I've never had the pleasure of doing in any other nail salon I've been too. Don't bother going here if you want any designs on your nails or anything modern. They do a really basic job, take an extreme amount of time, and they're stupid pricey. I got shellac for 45$. The entire time Kendra was helping me out she had her bluetooth on and spoke on the phone for the entire process. I was so disgusted, I've never been to a place where I had to pay someone only for them not to even acknowledge my existence. It was a horrible experience. read more

First, the positive: my nails look good! And if that's all you want from your pedicure, then you can hop over to Absolutely Nails, plop down your $35 (plus tip), and walk away happy. But the negatives outweigh the positives. The woman who worked on my feet exuded hostility. She barely spoke to me, but kept up a conversation with another employee, as if I were not there. Her attention to my feet was perfunctory at best. So that would be a three star review. But there's more! Because I tried Absolutely Nails on a whim, I was not properly dressed: long pants and closed-toe shoes. She asked me how I was going to walk out of there, and I shrugged and told her I could go barefoot. After an exasperated glare and a sigh, she pulled out a pair of disposable sandals. Then I gave her a credit card, having done enough checking beforehand to make sure they accepted plastic. She balked at that too! When I told her that was all I had, she said "next time, bring cash." There will not be a next time. What should have been a pleasant experience left me absolutely stressed. Although I have not tried every salon in town, I much prefer Cindy's on Alma -- friendly people, no attitude, and they hand out the sandals without acting as though I robbed them at gunpoint. read more

I love this place! One of the best mani's I have ever gotten! I have been here twice one for a color and the other for a French manicure. Both times I have been here I have had a good experience and only have good things to say. First off, the quality of the painted nails is great and lasts a long time. Also, the employees are very welcoming and kind. I was a walk-in both times and was able to get service. This is the second time I've come here to get a pedicure... I've tried numerous places around the Bay Area as I've searched for not only the perfect pedicure but also the best massage that goes with it. This place is it! Both times, the foot/leg massage has been a good 10mins with scrub, oil & lotion, & it's just heavenly. Wynn (spelling? Sorry!) gave me my message today & I nearly fell asleep. I'm a teacher on my feet all day & this was so relaxing! Nice, clean & relaxing ambiance conveniently located in downtown Menlo Park. Staff was very professional & super friendly. Even though they were busy they were able to accomdate walk-ins. I've been here twice for a mani/pedi within the last month (June 2015) and both times my polish hasn't chipped for at least a week. It's not the fanciest nail salon I've been to, but it's walking distance from my house, easy to get a walk in, and the polish lasts. Kendra is meticulous with her polish and it pays off. Just got a spa pedicure for $35. I have a tight schedule so I came right when they opened. I was the only person there. Great service. Especially loved the foot and leg massage. Will be back I was doing errands after I left and someone backed into me and stepped on my fresh pedi, smudging 2 of my toes. I called last minute today to see if I could get a pedicure and was happy to hear they had room if i came right over. i was about 15 minutes away and got straight into the car. On my way over, Kendra called me back just to make sure I was coming since they had another customer stop in...I was so pleased she checked first since I had not left my name or number. She went out of her way to get my number from caller ID (I assume) and to check in with me. Kendra had another colleague prep my feet and give me a great food massage/leg massage...then she did my nails. All was top notch. There are brand new comfy chairs that give great massages. She had a very loyal customer getting her nails done after me and she spoke glowingly about Kendra and the salon and sounds like she has gone for ages. I found my new nail place:) read more

Great pedicure! $40 (not including tip) for an hour of buffing, massaging, 3 coats, and drying. They were not super busy while I was there so this may have been a more leisurely pace than usual. I love this place! Kendra is amazing - she does a great job with nails. I get my nails done here regularly and have also done waxing as well. Kendra's mom gives the best massages - especially with feet! Obviously when you go to a nail salon you want to get your nails done well but I think it's also important to enjoy the experience. It is about time that I commend about Absolutely Nails & Hair. I have been having my pedicure and manicure at Absolutely Nails for over a year now. I always have a very warm feeling whenever I go there. The manicure and pedicure are done just right with precision and in a timely fashion. There is no pretense and sales talk like in other salons. They just do a perfect job on you and that is it. Kendra and family are very hardworking people. They are there almost everyday. Her mother is a real nice lady , very soft spoken and extremely hardworking and kind hearted. Eric the new stylist is really a gem. He cutting is very precise and with flair.
