The food was really good. No complaints there. The Cajun potatoes were very surprising! We didn't expect them to have Cajun boil taste and be battered and fried also. We were pleasantly surprised. The only thing I could say that was very disappointing was that we went there because they serve oysters, but, on this day, they didn't have crackers! So, my husband wasn't going to order oysters without crackers. Crackers are a must when eating raw oysters for us. So we were really disappointed in that aspect. Other than that it's a good place to eat. The people were nice. The three stars are because there was no notification of the place having no crackers available ahead of time, or we would've gone somewhere else to eat. We had already ordered some drinks, and been seated for a good while before we found out that there were no crackers to eat with the oysters. I don't know about other people, but crackers/saltines are just a normal part of eating raw oysters for us. read more

After arriving at MSY, I was hungry for New Orleans cooking. I looked on trusty Yelp and found Kenner Seafood. Just a couple miles from the airport And easy to navigate to. We ordered a shrimp poboy, catfish dinner, and ham sandwich. The catfish was good and cooked perfectly and not salty like a lot of places. The sandwiches was good too. We were all pleased. When I come back to New Orleans, (Kenner). I would definitely stop by here for a dinner or sandwich after or before the airport. read more

Have heard much about this place so decided to give it a try. It was ok not great not bad. On a Wednesday evening there was a wait to get in. Everything was Ok -service, food etc. very very loud place can't hardly hear people at your own table. I had the grilled shrimp with fries and coleslaw. This place does a tremendous business to my dismay. I got the blackened stuffed flounder and the fish was good but the clump of crabmeat dressing was not that good: sweet tasting breading with some detectable crab meat splinters mixed in and slapped on top. Will never order again. Stopped in to pick up boiled seafood and spent over $100. They pulled the crabs from the cooler which i thought was weird but we like cold boiled crabs so wasn't worried. Got home and opened the bag of crabs, they were rancid. I called to tell them so no one would get sick and they said a manager would call me. No one did. read more

Great place for fresh seafood. Right next to MSY for arrival and departure meals. Awesome onion rings. Killer crawfish when the season's right. No grilled oysters but plenty of ones on the 1/2-shell. Po'Boys are awesome and they just renovated and have 2x the space. Take a cooler and pack back some fresh seafood on the plane. Airline tip: you can take solid ICE through TSA but it has to be frozen solid. They may look but it'll pass right through. I've brought back soft shell crabs, oysters, snapper, royal reds, & jumbo skrimps. The fish market is adjacent to the restaurant. You're welcome! read more

This place came highly recommended by a lot of locals so I tried it out. You know when too many people build something up for you, you ended up getting disappointed? This was not the case here. I was actually pretty blown away. My colleague and I ordered a bunch of menu items and my two favorites are definitely the boudin balls and the seafood gumbo. I'm still thinking about them now! I also ordered a shrimp po boy; they were out of crab and oyster but that's understandable since we are facing all different kinds of delays and hindrances with Covid. Out waitress did seem flustered and rather than be annoyed, I just felt bad we were adding to her stress since we are out of towners and just had a lot of questions about the menu. We paid our check to Penny, who was lovely and we hope and pray for a speedy home recovery from the hurricane aftermath. In conclusion, I highly recommend it here and if/when I'm back in NOLA, I will definitely be stopping back by. read more

While I could go on and on about how delightful their food is, that would be stating the obvious. Every single thing I've tasted has been wonderful. This place truly has something special about it...and I think it's not only the food, but the service. The owner (her name escapes me currently) is the sweetest and is all about feeding people and southern hospitality. This trickles down to her wait staff who are all a hoot and provide top notch service. Absolutely one of my favorite places to go when I'm down in the city. Must try: Boiled and fried seafood! We are regulars here and in general, the food and service is always excellent. However our last experience was not the greatest. Don't order fried chicken in a seafood restaurant. I placed an order for 3 plates on Saturday night and it was clear how busy they were -- waiting area packed, phone ringing off the hook, etc. Amidst all that chaos, their staff was able to maintain their composure and it was clear they cared about their customers and getting food out to them as quickly as possible. I had to wait around 15 minutes longer than the quoted time of 30 minutes but honestly, the minor time inconvenience was offset but how strong their customer service was. The food was AMAZING too and well worth the wait -- we ordered the tilapia and shrimp plate, grilled shrimp plate, and seafood platter as well as a dozen chargrilled oysters. Some places tend to season these fried platters way too salty. Theirs was just right. I would absolutely come back, and plan to do so one day soon. read more

Business lunch came early and seated right away. Oysters on half shell bake to perfection. The redfish filet blackened was over cooked and had a fishy taste but flavor was good. Where do I begin? Oh let's begin at the part where the waitress said she can re-serve food that she has served to other customers. Now that I have your attention I'll go back to the beginning. We ended up here on accident. First impressions: parking sucks and this place looks pretty run down. We were not greeted walking in the door. We found our way to the dining area which is pretty small. Out waitress came to take our drink and app orders. She brings our drinks and doesn't ask if we're ready to order just tells us she'll be back and goes talk to someone. Then she brings our app and again says she'll be back and goes talk to someone. Finally she gets our food order. We eat our crab cakes app which was okay. They seemed like frozen cakes you could get at the grocery. The sauce with them was pretty delicious though. Then our food comes. I had grilled shrimp, mac n cheese, and corn on the cob. There was so much butter on the corn that I began to wipe it and realize there is a ton of butter and water from the corn in my plate. The corn is mushy beyond being able to eat. I set the corn on a stack of napkins on the table. I move my food and start soppin' up the buttery water in my plate. The waitress looks at me doing this and says, "oh no butter?" I said yea I would have preferred no butter but there is a ton butter and water on this . She asks what she cold do. My husband asks if she can bring me more corn. She says well I could have if she didn't touch it. My husband responds with, "Well even if she wouldn't have touched it, it's not like you could have served it to someone else." She says, "Yes I can. I could have taken the whole plate." Um, so wait they re-serve food if you don't want it and haven't touched it even though they already put it on the table in front of someone?!?! So we both just look at her with astonishment pretty much and she says well let me take it to the kitchen. She reaches over my plate and grabs the corn with her bare hands and goes to the kitchen. She then comes with fresh corn, not sopping with butter and not mushy. My husband and I begin to question wether or not our food had been served to other people before us. Then I look at my butterflied grilled shrimp and they have veins in them. If you take the time to butterfly, the pull the nasty veins out! FYI: It's $1 for refills on cokes. I was disappointed in the taste of the food. We ordered a half/half poy boy, one with oyster and stuffed crab and one with shrimp and stuffed crab. Both us were very disappointed with the stuffed crab half but the shrimp and the oysters were soo good. We also ordered a shrimp boil, and although I'm not from NOLA, I've been here enough times be disappointed by this book. Originally she brought us some shrimp in a pan and said it was cooked earlier today and had been sitting out, so it's at room temperature , and asked did we want her to drop it again. Of course we did, since we wanted hot shrimp. So after the 2nd time dropping it it was still "room tempature" so she had to drop it again. The 3rd time sh3 brought it back, it was steaming hot but now overcooked and was not tasteful at all. Ordered the Cajun potatoes and there was nothing Cajun or tasteful about that either. Char Grilled Oysters were also not good. Overall I would not be back, but if you do go. I recommend the raw oysters, gumbo, and fried oysters. read more

It had been a long time since I had been to Kenner Seafood but it was always really good! This time on 6/12/2023 it was terrible on the fact the shrimp were over fried and the crab cakes my friend had were terrible no taste (bland)at all . Also I have noticed the batter they are using has changed not as good as what they use to use. I was fresh off the plane and was getting hangry. And I wanted some local food. Did a search on Yelp and found this place. We almost drove by it and there were plenty of cars in the lot, a good sign. Menu is pretty well laid out. I opted for the sea food platter and boy I was not disappointed in anything. It was busy, wont lie so it took them a bit to get us going when we finished the meal but the staff were very nice tending to all the tables as customers came and went and it was non stop. The lady that works in the front, took my order and my money she's very Rude, they're not well stocked on a lot of items, she was having a negative conversation with another customer complaining about her job and how she is tired and didn't get a lot of rest.... All while trying to service me as well. Very unprofessional. I asked for hot sauce, and ketchup she says they didn't have any, but they serve fries and fish, that's ridiculous. I ordered the catfish poor boy...I waited almost 30 minutes... You would think that it would be fresh and hot, NO it was cold. It looked like fish had been sitting there and they just whipped it together, or they had it sitting for a long period of time before they brought my order to me. My favorite place to eat near the airport. The servers are really accommodating and nice. I typically get some kind of fish + shrimp combo. Their fried shrimp is some of my favorite in the city. On Tuesdays, they have a special where you can get a bunch of fried shrimp and a side for like, $12. As far as sides go, the mac + cheese and jalapeño hush puppies are the way to go. Honestly they had me at fried okra when I read the online menu. I needed a spot closer to the airport that was open on a week night. Once I saw that Steve I was a fan. I knew it would all be good. My aunt and cousins enjoyed their food thoroughly. One of my cousins DEMOLISHED some boiled crabs and we all enjoyed boiled crawfish (this was a couple of months ago). The plate dinners were good to OK. Don't try to go healthy here, just go ahead and get the fried food rather than the grilled. My stuffed crab wasn't my favorite but it was fine. The fried okra did not disappoint, but I would probably tell them to leave the whisper of grated parmesan off next time. Service was great. Our server made sure our water glasses were full and that the beers were restocked at appropriate intervals. The decor is old school seafood joint so that was perfect. My aunt was so impressed with the seafood that she bought a few pounds of boiled crawfish to bring home to my parents. Great spot if you're in the neighborhood. read more

As we drove up to this establishment, my first thought was to just keep on truckin'. The curb appeal was less then appealing and the surroundings were as exciting as a dirty old strip mall can be. Regardless, my wife said we should go for it. I don't know if the owners like this description, but Kenner Seafood is the quintessential "hole in the wall" joint. Awesome food, friendly service, and affordable prices. 'Nuff said, but I'll keep going.... We loved it from the second we walked in. We were first met by what appeared to be a small seafood market. The restaurant and bar were just visible in the back. This place was busy with the lunch rush, but we were lucky enough to find a decent sized booth. So down we sat, the wife, baby and me. First and foremost, they have diet root beer here. Oh yea, it's one of my favorites (next to real beer of course). I started off with a half dozen chargrilled oysters. I found them to be perfect in every way. Size, seasoning and flavor. These beat Dragos hands down. My wife and I decided to go the traditional route for lunch. I went with the 9" fried shrimp po boy and she went with the fried catfish. This is not to belittle their otherwise awesome menu. They have an ample menu that I would love to pick through upon future visits, but my thoughts are if the can't make the most basic of NOLA fare, then they aren't worth another visit. The po boy was LOADED with fried shrimp that could've been considered a meal by themselves. For $9, it was worth every penny. The fried catfish was very good too, but my wife wasn't as jazzed about it as I was. Great flavor, but not as crisp as she likes. We finished off with their bread pudding. A few months back my mother and I chose to eat there (2nd time), placed an order and sat there. And sat there. And sat there. A crowd ate up, got up and a new crowd came in, ordered and was already eating before we even had a chance. Meanwhile, the crazy waitress was serving all the wrong food and drink orders to the tables around us so badly with non-stop gibberish talk that we and two other tables of guests were laughing at her ineptness. A few times we asked how long for our plates to show and this crazy waiters lady kept talking down to my 70 year old mother like she's a child telling her it takes time to cook the food in a patronizing way (should of left right there and then). The food finally showed up to come to feel it be like sitting on a shelf for 30 minutes kind of cold. After 45 minutes of being crapped on by a third rate waitress that had to be hitting the bottle in the back- we walked away mad. Not fancy by anyone's standard but you couldn't get fresher seafood. We just picked up a doz boiled crabs (large) to bring home and celebrate a birthday. We've previously eaten in and taken out and have never been disappointed- fried and grilled. Simple sides and two or three desserts but you'll likely not have room to eat it all. Prices are appropriate for the type of fish ordered so expect to pay a bit for crabs, etc. but it is well worth it. read more

Not That Good This is a place in my neighborhood for years. I see plenty vehicles here when they are opened. I decided to give them a try after not coming back for many years and now I know why. My review is based on the stuffed shrimp plate. My sides were a side salad plain as it could be, lettuce and tomato, blue cheese dressing, it was below average. The Cajun batter fried boiled potatoes were decent, but nothing to brag about. The main course stuffed shrimp where breaded in plain bread crumbs and over fried.
