Good place to get some nice greasy fried seafood. They also sell fresh seafood, boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp but I've never purchased any from them. I'm partial to the stuffed crab plate. Soft drinks are big but no refills (unless they've changed that policy recently). They are very lax on allowing people to smoke in the video poker area. I have traveled and I have tasted many different foods from all over the US and some internationally. Being from NY, there's an advantage to good food bc you know what it tastes like. I've lived in FL which means seafood is fresh and well made. My daughter got the chicken parm and the sauce was so overloaded with sugar she could barely eat it. I got fried shrimp and they weren't good either. We left majority of the food behind paid our bill and let them at the counter know we weren't pleased. The manager took of some of my seafood cost and that was it which was fine bc I knew I wouldn't return. I informed her of how much sugar she's got in the sauce and she stated people around here love it that way. Okay cool? Super casual place. Dine in and Take out. It does get busy on Friday nights & weekends, especially during Lent and during Crawfish season. The prices are reasonable. We dined in and had boiled crawfish for $2.99/lb a few weeks ago. That's crazy cheap! It is market price, though, so that price will vary... still, other places were up around $5-$6 at the time. They have the boiled corn, mushrooms, potatoes available separately, too. Kids meals available with the usual fried things (chicken, shrimp) + fries. Service isn't spectacular but they are working a lot of tables at once, and typically with items that require a lot of attention (ie boiled crawfish refills!), so I totally understand. read more

My dine-in experience a few weeks ago was fabulous. The best part was dessert - a delicious personal sized pumpkin pie! Ridiculously good!!! So good, in fact, that I decided to take advantage of their shipping. I called 7days before Thanksgiving and ordered 6 pies. I requested FedEx overnight shipping regardless of price wanting to be sure the pies arrived in time for the holiday. The pleasant woman on the phone insisted on sending the pies via USPS 2-day priority. Sure, okay. She calls me back the next morning (Friday before Thanksgiving) to say she changed her mind and will wait until Monday to ship the pies. I plead once again with her to use FedEx. No baby, that's too expensive! On Wednesday I called her back...no pies. She gives me the tracking number saying "it shows delivered at 9am this morning, baby. You need to go to your Post Office." I track the pies......to Houston. Ugh. It is now the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving and still no pies. Oh, and after 5 phone calls no mention of them attempting to make things right. In fact, it took her 10 minutes into the last phone call to finally just say "I'm sorry." So am I, Kenner Seafood. So. Am. I. I highly discourage anyone from using the shipping option. Just go to Kenner and eat the food at the restaurant. Update: I had to go to the Post Office to obtain my pies on Saturday morning (3 days after promised delivery date). I didn't think this story could get any worse, but I was sorely mistaken. Of my 6 pies, 4 are damaged and inedible. They used Styrofoam plates as the packing filler. read more

While visiting New Orleans, my wife and I met up with some of our friends at Kenner Seafood to avoid the ridiculous FQ prices for crawfish. This restaurant is one of those no frills seafood joints that can be found throughout the burbs of NOLA. We enjoyed several huge portions of crawfish, and certainly got our fill. The only disappointment was that the last batch was pretty cold, and taste like it had been sitting for much of the evening. read more

The parking lot was tiny, but we were fortunate to find a spot. Walking in, it looked like a hole in the wall, with nothing special to look at except maybe the impressive display of ready-to-eat crawfish. We grabbed a booth toward the back. The service was lackluster but the waitress did the basic parts of her job. I ordered oysters and gumbo, my male coworker ordered oysters and crawfish, and my female coworker, being vegetarian, ordered a salad. I can't remember which one, but she said it was actually pretty good. The oysters were delicious. They came out with horseradish and cocktail sauce. I like mine with salt and lemon juice too, so I asked for more lemon slices and the server brought them out. The gumbo was just okay. It came out lukewarm. I wouldn't recommend it. The crawfish though, yum! The flavor was spot on. I could have eaten two pounds by myself. When it comes to straight up seafood, this place has it goin' on. read more

I am saddened to write this review. Me and my fiancé recently moved here from Portland Oregon and we were excited to try this restaurant. Once we arrived we were greeted by one of the waitresses whom asked us "how many" and we said "two" another party came after us with a party of two and we all waited. When the waitress came back she grabbed the party that came after us, they hesitated and said "they were actually here before us" she ignored this and continued to seat them. Me and my fiancé were in SHOCK and looked around like no way this happened. Yes we are BLACK and yes the party she grabbed we're WHITE! We walked out visibly angry and then the manager rushed out and apologized, offered us a table w/ appetizer on the house. We took the deal bc we were so hungry and over it all but the lingering feeling of disappointment never went away. Everyone kept coming to apologize but the damage was already done. The oysters and shrimps were delicately fried with a thin crisp batter. The bread was flaky and fresh. EXCELLENT! In the past we have ordered and shared the seafood platter. EXCELLENT! We usually order a dozen raw oysters, but haven't done so since the BP oil spill because the oysters have been small, but I saw a woman with a dozen raw oysters who said the oysters are back to size. Next time we will order the raw oysters. It is a bit difficult to find the restaurant along busy Loyola Dr. but if you are coming from I-10 it is about a block away from Sam's. We went during Mardi Gras celebrations on a recommendation from someone at Arthur's Air Boat tours. Overall, the food was absolutely excellent. The crawfish was fresh, the oysters were fresh and the beers were pretty cheap. Don't miss the bread boats though, the quality of the bread almost out did the perfectly prepared fried seafood contained within. That alone was easily enough for 2 people. Only downside is it's a bit of a drive out of downtown and you need to get there early since it's really busy. I ordered on Doordash...seemed like my dasher was at the restaurant quite a while but when my food was delivered ( I was about 10min away), my fries were soggy and cold and my catfish poboy was extremely bland. My husband had the crabcake poboy and he said it was mushy and bland as well. I see so many good reviews so I am wondering if they were just off today or if everyone has their bar set low. I am from Milwaukee and here for the wknd and really thought I'd be getting some flavorful food. Not a speck of Zatarains, Slap Ya Mama, or Old Bay seasoning touched this food. Great first visit. I had the black and red fish which was amazing. My other two friends had the stuffed crab and the blackened catfish. Huge choice of side items available. My only complaint is there so much stuff on the menu I had a hard time choosing. Which I guess really isn't a complaint. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner Trudy before we left. She is on the place for 22 years. The restaurant itself has been over there over 40 years. A true Testament to the longevity and the quality of the restaurant. Trudy was also gracious enough to give us a sample of the fresh tamales made that day to try later at home. Nothing fancy here but it has the best seafood in town. A selection of broiled seafood is a big plus. Trudy, the owner is usually on hand and keeps things humming with a great customer focus. Stopped in for lunch...the fried shrimp was excellent as was my waitress, I think her name was Sandy, or Bridget..something along those lines. Spent about an hour there enjoying desert and a couple beers after the meal with my brothers. On the way back to my car we heard some rustling in the bushes out front and some sort of jungle sounds...not sure what that was about but didn't care to investigate. Its not the classiest place to look at. But the food delivers. Its popular with the local folks (of all ages it appeared) and even mid weekday afternoon there was a short wait for a table. So they must be doing something right! I had the softshell crab plate. It came with a choice of two sides, both of which were good. It kind of gave me the feeling of eating at a friends house as a kid - they might make the potato salad a bit different from your mom but its still very good. We also had a crab appie to start that was to die for...my arteries are still unclogging days later. The food is well prepared and not fancy - just good, simple seafood. Oh my stars! Kenner Seafood is always good. The staff is friendly and the food is consistently delicious. I've had their fried shrimp, chargrilled oysters, stuffed tomatoes, bellpepper rings (like onion rings - but bellpepper), and their fried artichokes. ALL are delicious! Every time I am in Kenner or have a trip to the airport, my husband knows where we will be eating. Wear your stretchy pants! LoL read more
