We stopped for lunch on the way to the airport (so close). Nice seafood market and great restaurant bar. The service was awesome (Forgot her name, but she is #1024) and so was the food.And the place is really comfortable. We had Boiled crawfish (so good and only $3.99 a pound), a cup of Red Beans and Rice (It was Monday), Veal Cutlet Poboy and a Fried Shrimp Poboy. There were so many shrimp in the poboy, I couldn't believe it and perfectly breaded and fried. The Red Beans and sausage were really good. It helps to be a seafood market to get boiled Crawfish. Everything was delicious. I got this recommendation from my Termite guy, Larry and he was right on. If they were here, I'd eat there once a week. So good. read more

I went this past Tuesday for dinner. Was only in New Orleans for one night and I regret picking this place out for dinner. I wanted to order the corn and shrimp soup. They did not have anymore. Then I chose the stuffed crabs. Did not have any of those either. Then I asked I can have a salad topped with blackened shrimp. They said they had no salad left. LOL The waiter asked me if I wanted to try this creamy soup with crab in it. (Forgot the name.) I said why not since the reviews looked good. Literally had no crab in it maybe one piece. I was so hungry I didn't complain. Then I tried the crab claws/ fingers. I can tell the crab was not fresh nor tender and the sauce was super greasy and not flavorful. I returned it. We arrived at Kenner Seafood at about 6 p.m. on a Saturday, less than two hours after landing at nearby New Orleans International Airport. It was our first time in Louisiana and we were looking for a memorable first meal before heading to New Orleans the next day and Kenner Seafood fit the bill. Even though it was early, there was already a waiting list. It took about a half-hour before we were seated but we kept seeing a stream of people coming out of the dining room carrying to-go boxes and they were smiling. Louisiana is the land of gumbo and that's what I started with, their seafood gumbo. My companion ordered crab cakes and they were both outstanding. The gumbo was full of shrimp, crab and had a great flavor with a developed roux. The seafood platter came with about double the amount of food I needed. A soft-shell crab, shrimp, catfish and a crab cake and sides of spicy corn on the cob and Cajun potatoes. Everything but the potatoes were outstanding. They were ok but nothing special. The crowd seemed to be mostly locals, which was a good sign. The crowd was steady during the time we were there. Is it sacrilege to go to New Orleans and not eat the seafood? It's allowed if the reason is delicious old school pasta. The seafood at this place is good but after I saw the deep red spaghetti sauce on my daughter's spaghetti and meatball, I had to order the chicken Parmesan. It was fried perfectly with angel hair pasta and a deep dark red sauce all over. I had enough for a late night snack and breakfast the next morning! In addition to having tried the Parmesan, I have tried the stuffed artichoke. If you love garlic, you need to try it! Everything else I've had on the menu was just as good, the waitresses were friendly and it is in an easy to access part of town. A friend who had been here before recommended Kenner Seafood and it was close to our hotel. Plenty of parking and nicely accessible for my wife in her power wheelchair. "Kenna" Seafood is a quaint little joint in K-Town that is reliably above average and decently priced. The menu is extremely expansive, which I believe is the major reason nothing is solidly fantastic. There are plenty of options, many unique, but too many to consistently great. The specials are usually a good bet, the po-boys are the best thing on the menu (shocker!), and the pastas sound much better than they actually are (so pass over them). There are several good appetizers (see crab cakes) and several not so good appetizers (see either of the onion mums), and almost all of the sides are on point. (Note too that while the drinks are big, they do charge for refills, and according to the menu, they charge for tap water, though I've never actually been charged for it.) All in all, you won't be disappointed, but rarely will you be overly impressed. read more

I honestly picked Kenner Seafood because it was close to where I was and I was starving! Crystal was my waitress, and as soon as I told her I was traveling all day and I was starving, she suggested the corn & crab chowder and in 2 minutes (maybe less) it was in front of me and my belly was very happy. This place is great. My wife ordered the fried shrimp platter and I had the daily special which was fried catfish. Not only was there a ton of food for the money the food tasted great and the service was awesome. We found everyone that worked there to be very kind, attentive and helpful. We were there on a business/personal trip and even though it seemed the place was filled with regular locals, they made us feel like one too. I cant wait to go back. We were looking for a poboy place before going to the airport and found this one. I ordered crab cakes and fries. The crab cakes tasted straight out of a commercial prepared frozen box and were overcooked! You would never have known they were crab cakes and the fries were limp. I have never been to New Orleans, but saw reviews on this restaurants. Four of us just had dinner there on a very busy Friday nite. It took a little while to get our food, but it was worth the wait! EVERYTHING was great, from the seafood gumbo to the crab au gratin to the crab cakes. For dinner we had red rice & beans with smoked sausage, tilapia & shrimp, stuffed shrimp (with crab). Although I was stuffed myself, I had to buy some bread pudding, which won't be eaten until tomorrow, but it smells delicious! This is definitely one of the best food that we've eaten! And although we are only here for 2 days, we might just go back tomorrow because there are so many things on their menu that we want to try. The waiters have some sort of Archaic system where they wait tables for before moving to the next table . I didn't see one waiter , waiting on more than one table within an efficient time yet, once again it's been 20 minutes . One of the best things about living in New Orleans is access to fresh seafood year round. When you want that fresh seafood cooked to perfection and not at the tourist trap prices of the French Quarter, go to Kenner Seafood. It is important to understand this is a very popular restaurant with the locals and they do not take reservations, so plan on getting there early or go for lunch, you will not be disappointed. They do takeout as well, so if you are just in the mood for boiled crawfish, shrimp, or crabs (both dungeness and blue) then you can do that too. Also, they sell the boil seasoning used at the restaurant so next time you have your own oil you can use their stuff! Appetizers that we get are the mozzarella sticks, fried artichoke hearts, fried green bell peppers, fried crab claws, and I want to try the alligator legs. Trudy, the owner, was telling me they are very good but usually seasonal. The oysters are always fresh and salty! Entrees, I've tried too many things here. My favorite is the blackened flounder. There is a wonderful selection of local fish like trout and redfish prepared different ways with sauces, fried, grilled, stuffed, or blackened. The pasta dishes are great but can be rich at times. I like the frog legs too. My dad enjoys the pork chops too. The poboys are stuffed with shrimp or oysters or crawfish, whatever you are wanting. Oh, the fried chicken is really good unit does take a little longer to cook. And like I mentioned earlier, you can't go wrong with the boiled seafood but if you aren't used to eating boiled seafood in the south, have some tums available because the spices will get you. Last couple things, the owner Trudy is an amazing woman and very fun, light hearted, and sweet. The decor of the restaurant is very laid back like her. Admire the Jazz Fest posters on the walls, well the ones that survived Katrina, and notice the poster numbers for them. If you are stuck waiting a while they do have some seats inside and some benches outside, as well as a bar always showing sports. In addition, there are a few video poker machines for those who like to gamble. Y'all enjoy it and tell Trudy I said hey. Oh and eat some raw or chargrilled oysters for me. So update to my review during Mardi Gras season, they are selling Camelia City Randazzo King Cakes. These king cakes are from Slidell and very good. When we used to live in Slidell that is where we would get them from. So go try them out and you will see how good they are. Yet another reason to go to Kenner Seafood! I wish there were bonus stars that could be given out! We went back January 2017, okay, we go there a lot, but if you go you will understand why. I think this is a problem that we moved to Kenner from Slidell. At least while on the Northshore it was more difficult to visit because we had to drive into the city. So tonight we had the boiled crabs and crawfish, along with the hush puppies, and chicken tenders for our son. The crabs were full and tasty and the crawfish, while early in the season, we nice.
