Kentro Greek Kitchen is a pretty nice spot to grab dinner. My friend and I came here last week and had a pretty enjoyable experience. Located on Commonwealth by Harbor, Kentro offers a friendly, clean, upscale-ish dining option in the heart of Downtown Fullerton. We decided to split a couple dishes per the cashier's recommendation. The two items we ordered were the paithakia, priced at $19, and the chicken souvlaki, priced at $15. They did have some interesting beer options, however, I opted for water. While the prices were a little steep, the food did seem to be of pretty good quality. The paithakia (lamb chops) tasted great, and the chicken souvlaki was good, as well. Both meats were flavored well and were delicious. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the wild rice. I didn't particularly like the mix, though I respect that it was likely authentic. My biggest complaint about this place is probably the quantities. The amount of meat was not very substantial for either dish, especially considering the price. Other than that, no real complaints. Service was good. While I'd definitely come back, it's not at the top of my list. Go ahead and give it a try for yourself. read more

Cucumber salad with chicken- not sure what it's called, but i get it without the dressing and it's always soooo good!! Lamb kabob- this was my friend's dish. I'm not huge on lamb, but the flavor on this was to die for. I might go back for this. Think lemon. The veggies were soft, but grilled to perfection. Dessert because WHY NOT! I had lunch here with a friend yesterday. I eat no bread, so I went for the Three Chromo salad, thinking there would be hearty amounts of cheese. I liked the idea of the radicchio and arugula too. I asked if I could have "grilled chicken" added, and expected it to be a tasty greek-marinated chicken. I was sorely disappointed. The salad was mostly frisee. I could not find any radicchio or arugula, or it was chopped so fine it disappeared. At least 1/4 of the salad was raw red onion, so much I had to pick most of it out. The chicken was plain, blah shredded white chicken meat, and the cheese was just a hint sprinkled over the top. Kentro, think you can do better than this! That said, my friend got a lamb pita with the beet salad on the side, which I got to try, and it was delicious. So there is plenty of tasty fare on this menu, just forget the Three Chromo! read more

The best Mediterranean spot in OC. The food is always delicious! They are consistent with flavors and they never disappoint. Service is always great and the atmosphere is the best for dates and even family dinners. I come here at least twice a month for my Kentro fix. I feel like my wife likes Kentro more than I do but I came to write this review to talk about the rice. How crazy is it that I get excited to eat here just cause of the side of rice I get with the chicken souvlaki? It has almonds, raisins, cheese, and either fennel or dill but holy smokes it's good. I want to order the wild rice with a side of chicken souvlaki but that would be obnoxious. The wraps are in nice fluffy pita bread and come with a delicious side of fries and are pretty filling. Been and eaten here a couple of times. Food is good and authentic but both times I had to ask for it to be warmed up. The tzatziki was too watery and no/little cucumber etc. Wish there was a bigger choice on the menu. I came here with my co-workers because we were waiting for Crawfish Cave to open. Kentro Greek Kitchen is a small Greek Restaurant that is good for small groups. I noticed that there's also a bar area if you' just want to grab some drink. It is located in the heart of Old Town Fullerton. As soon as I walked in, I already liked the ambiance of the place. The service was amazing. Since we were just here waiting for another restaurant to open, we just ordered the following appetizers: Melitzanosalata (eggplant), tzatziki, and revithosalata (hummus). These dips came with pita bread. Their hummus was great, but the eggplant dip was divine! It's a bit tangy and it actually tastes good to layer the eggplant with the hummus cause the hummus balances the acidity of the eggplant dip. We also got the octopus appetizer and I still cannot forget how tender the octopus was! Since I was only here for a brief moment, I definitely want to come back to try their main dishes. I recommend ordering the manouri flatbread that serves a sweet and savory palate from the combination of the figs and cheese. The tzatziki spread is amazing that comes with a side of bread. I suggest ordering the spread with any choice of the pita as it amplifies a more refreshing, creamy taste that perfectly pairs well with the pita. For the choices of the pita, the best option would be the lamb. The lamb is a win for texture and flavor compared to the chicken that I ordered. Also, the service is great. Super easy to pop in on my break and literally just pull up front into the 30 min spots and roll inside. The food is fast and FRESH AF!!! Prices fair and portions are generous. You MUST try the pork skewer entree here. It's an amazing dish that it reminds you of the high end Greek dish in Manhattan, NY. Came early for dinner on Friday without reservation and easily found a table. One orders at the register first before sitting down. This register is at the opposite end from the Commonwealth ave door. For food we first started with the beet salad. The first few bites were delicious, the combo of beets with sweet digs and walnut vinaigrette dressing is tasty. I don't quite understand why the Manipuri cheese was added, but I did not dislike it. Be aware that this does not make good leftovers, since the beet texture will change overnight. The lamb pita was more enjoyed than he lamb chops entree. First, the pita has a generous portion of lamb meat, well seasoned and moist. Further the pickled vegetables and rosemary vinaigrette add depth to the flavor profile. Personally I thought there was more than enough lamb and wanted more veggies. The default side is Kentro Fries, delicious but salty and oily. The Kefalotiri butter had an herb, rosemary I think, which was usual and brought a nice aroma to a simple fry. The lamb chops, the Paithakia, came with 4 small chops, a side of tzatziki spread, and choice of any side. While the tzatziki is thought to be the accompanying sauce to the chops, there is a butter sauce on the bottom of the plate that works better! As a side we selected the Spanakorizo, which sounded like Spanakopita but is not as similar as I expected. It is close to a fried rice with spinach, feta, dill, and onion inside, a solid combination and one I would get again(this time with a better expectation). Had dinner here in a Friday evening and loved it. Great decor, friendly staff, food was DELICIOUS. We loved the spanakopita, the tiropetes, beet salad and the flatbread with fig and cheese. Food was great! Yes this place is definitely on the pricey side but you pay for what you get. For the dish I had it was 9/10 definitely recommend especially if you love chicken! Lemon potatoes that are served with the dish are great. I also recommend the meatball appetizer dish ! The sauce was very authentic. I don't like how this place has you order right when you walk in before sitting down, so it doesn't feel a classy restaurant but it definitely charges like one. Service was 8/10. Ambience - this place is really nice inside. It's urban, lots of seating, and nicely lit for an intimate or casual dining experience. They have a huge board with all of their menu items so it's easy to decide what you want. Service - I was really impressed! Everyone I interacted with was so kind and patient. They accommodated us really well and I was surprised at how well their staff is trained. Food - was kind of just ok. I got the Chicken Pita which came with french fries which tasted awesome. They put spices and rosemary on them and fry them really crispy. The pita was a little underwhelming. The chicken is good quality but kind of bland so I don't think I'd order it again. Like the trend happening to other asian cuisine, Kentro fits trendy, modern, greek fusion place. Last two visits here, completely satisfied my palate, I just love they make everything lemony sour. Unlike typical Mediterranean food, they make it lighter, sour and that's what I like about the food here. Another charming thing about this place is that I can enjoy a cup of cappuccino at a cozy coffee shop like ambience. Some items on the menu, especially dessert items - I tried greek honeyballs, they were one of the worst stale donut halls, but greatly complimented by the cool cinnamon whipped cream dip, without the dip, they were pretty nasty, still they are nothing compared to juicy, warm yet crispy, tooth-aching super sweet but super addictive authentic greek honeyballs tho- are twisted a bit too much to the point where it is nothing like Greek any more. The charbroiled fish, roast chicken, steak...all served fresh, piping hot, no excessive drizzle of butter, juicy, not overly salted, and with lots of lemon juice! Get a nice cut of juicy hot chicken piece with the crispy skin ione bite, what else is more needed?! Biting into soft, tender, mouth watering smoky fresh fish with a hint of tangy lemon juice.... I see you are drooling. Quinoa with herbs, sun dried tomatoes and pickled oilives side always compliments everything, baked veggies topped with feta cheese crumbs side is very savory. I especially love their tzatziki because it doesn't have the strong cucumber smell, but it is super sour with lighter texture. (I like sour taste, it washes and refreshes mouth as I eat) Overall, I like Kentro's different from others in a good way. I like the modern and clean ambience. Memories of an almost great meal: Calamari. Not fried. Served in a beautifully seasoned tomato based sauce. I had my reservations about trying this, because I usually do not like any seafood in tomato sauce, but this one was outstandingly wonderful. Unabashed, I sopped up the sauce with the complementary bread until they no longer needed to wash the dish. Spanakopita. The filling was excellent, generous and thick, teamed with feta and herbs. Too bad the pastry was not as delicate as I would have expected. Slight disappointment there. Melt in your mouth, meaty, prime lamb chops with just the right amount of Greek seasonings. So juicy too. Mr. B's complaint? Wish there were more than 4. The chops came with slender french fries that must be tossed in butter after an already perfect frying execution. Then a douse of an uncommonly good garlicky salt. I could eat a bowl of just these. I am ashamed. Rib eye steak. Thinly cut steak, but still they managed to sear it nicely while keeping it pink inside. There was nothing extraordinarily different about this, so I would probably save my rib eye steak cravings for a more notable steak place. MInd you, there was nothing wrong with it but the size of the steak was on the small side and would probably disappoint a manly appetite. Mousaka. A hearty serving of a beautiful casserole. Done extremely well, with layers of potato, meat sauce, eggplant and béchamel sauce. My only reservation was they use a spice in the meat sauce that does not suit my taste buds, aka either cinnamon or allspice. While this is considered traditional, I usually don't like it. Still, I ate it, and would have loved it... sans the spice. Baklava. Obscenely buttery and rich. Filled to perfection with lots of nuts and soaked in a honey sauce. Overall, a delightful evening. Not real formal (no menus just a list of offerings on a big blackboard, and you order before you sit down), but servers deliver the food and take care of your drink refills. This is a charming location with an upbeat, contemporary ambiance. I would honestly recommend you give it a try. read more

I came in to grub with my girlfriends from crossfit who for the most part, keep a vigilant watch of what goes into their tight bellies. I came here with my cousin for lunch and it was not busy at all. It is definite more up-scale than most greek restaurants I've been to. When you go in they have a huge chalkboard as their menu and there many choices for you to choose from. I feel as though they have a larger variety than most of the places I've been to. When you're ready to order, you go to the cashier and put in your order. My cousin got the lamb pita and I got the pork pita. In addition we shared a calamari appetizer. The prices were fair. The cashier was really nice and she gave us a number to place on any table we wanted to sit at. We sat down and she came over with some water for us. Then she came out with our appetizer first. It was delicious. She was even kind enough to bring us extra bread to eat it with :) Afterwards she brought out our main entree. My cousin and I were both pleased with our orders :) both of our entrees came with thin crispy fries. It was addicting to pick at even after I was super full!!! I found KGC to be a very modern and quaint Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. The atmosphere was airy, rustic and well-decorated. It is a relatively small place. You can browse the chalkboard menu, order at the counter from the well-dressed employees, and seat yourself. They will deliver the food to your table. This isn't the typical Greek restaurant that serves kabobs with a side of rice, salad and pita bread. The dishes are a bit more upscale than you would expect from a place that has you order at the counter. My friend ordered the Beet Salad and loved it. I ordered the Lamb Pita and LOVED it. The flavor of the lamb was indescribable. It was juicy and tenderly shredded. The feta cheese was melting on top and the pita was warm and plump. I don't usually crave french fries but the Kentro fries were thin and crisp with wonderful seasonings and I believe they even have a hint of shredded parmesan cheese. KGC was a nice stop for an afternoon lunch with a friend. From what I overheard from an employee on the phone, it gets crowded during dinner. If I'm back in the area I will return for that lamb pita or maybe try one of their entree plates. read more

BF brought me here for our Friday night date. It was just alright, I honestly think he liked it more than I did. Chances are if I am craving Greek any time soon, I will be going somewhere else to get it. - I thought this would be a more traditional sit down restaurant, not a Pasta Bravo, order at the counter type thing. - It was what, 90 degrees with 80% humidity yesterday? Their air conditioner wasn't very strong, it was no relief coming into this restaurant. - I ordered the chicken pita and BF ordered the lamb pita. We also got a side of Tzatziki Sauce to dip our fries in. - My chicken pita, which claimed to have a dijon aioli was dry as a bone and didn't have any hint of dijon in it. Thankfully we ordered the Tzattziki, as I was able to drench my pita in that. There was entirely too much Arugula, I ended up removing at least half of it, the onions were so thinly sliced that they didn't make much of an impact on the pita, and the chicken was also dried out and the flavor wasn't very good. I did like the pita itself though, it was very soft thick. - Their Kentro fries are awesome. Very garlicky. - The Tzatziki sauce was also very, very good.
