I was looking for a quick bite street style. I saw this place near by and went inside and I got a good vibe seeing its colorful interior. We went with the Chicken Fajitas and the fried avocado tacos. They are the best. I loved the sauces and tacos were juicy. I had a good experience. Two of us spent 12$ for 3 tacos and we were full. I would highly recommend this place for an affordable meal. Went here when I landed in Austin and was looking for something quick near the conference center. The taco menu was impressive! Several choices for beef, chicken, vegetarian and seafood. Even breakfast tacos! I got two tacos: the Bull and the Islander. The Bull was fantastic: Juicy steak, cheese, corn, zucchini and black beans and I added the salsa with two peppers for the spice indicator. The corn tortillas were boss too. I was not a fan of the Islander. It just tasted like shrimp with chili powder sprinkled on it. Bleh. The avocado dressing had a strange taste too. The chips and guacamole were very good though and the person working was super nice. Our food came out very quickly. I just got back from being in Dallas for the summer and decided to try this place out as I noticed it took over where Janitzio's used to be. Right off the bat I could tell that the owner really cares about the place as the old door has been replaced with a nice new one that opens properly and smoothly. This place is all tacos and they do a really good job at it. There is a very wide variety to choose from and they accommodate all tastes and desires. I had the Hippie Hollow and SX tacos. They were both excellent and stuffed as much as possible with tasty yumness. I really appreciated the extent to Keso's stuffed their tacos. The corn tortillas tasted a bit bland but it didn't take away from the experience. The tacos run a bit pricey. Both of mine were $3.79 each and it takes two to get full. If they could somehow cut it down to $3 flat, it would be perfect. I will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the menu and their breakfast items. I live right down the street so this place will be my taco place. read more

The food here was just ok. Dinner tacos are just $4 each, plus tax. I had the COTAco which consisted of some pretty bland barbacoa and roasted potatoes. The texture of soft meat + soft potatos was pretty monotonous. Breakfast tacos were a bit better. The chorizo/egg/cheese was actually pretty good and worthy of 4 stars. The longhorn was also bland, though. The pitfall with steak tacos is that restaurants always use cheap steak which means it doesn't have much flavor. Failure to season correctly makes for a bland taco. They've only been open a couple weeks so perhaps I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try again in a month or so. In any event, this won't be replacing Torchy's any time soon. read more

Time and time again it never fails- it's Friday night and Yelp and Keso's door says they are open until 10PM. I tried to call and place an order but they won't answer their phone at 9:30PM. I figured they might be busy so I physically go to the location to place my order in person. I walk in and it's 9:50PM at this point and they let me know that they are closed. I wanted to inquire as to why they never stick to the hours they have posted but there was a language barrier and that wasn't going to get me any tacos. This is why I stopped going to them last summer (even have a review about it!) and I was hoping after a year they might have their shit together but nope. So let me recommend to everyone- skip even attempting to go to Kesos and instead head straight to Torchy's (open until 11!) since Kesos lacks consistency. I ordered potato egg and cheese with queso, and a chorizo egg and cheese with queso the first time. The second time I switched to the shredded cheese to try that. They were great both times. Kesos is located right next to campus, making it a convenient alternative to torchy's, taco joint, etc. It was remodeled within the last year to a more modern and hip interior. They proudly serve almost every menu item with their queso, which also comes in different varieties. I have visited multiple times and am very happy with the experience. Food: Chips and salsa: your typical appetizer, enough for 2-3 people to share. Their salsa is quite good, with five choices available at the salsa bar. Traditional breakfast taco with chorizo and egg: surprisingly simple and good. The queso on top made for a very satisfying combination. Surf N Turf Diablo: very tasty beef and juicy shrimp with grilled vegetables and a good amount of jalepenos. Great pick. Rise and Shine: Incredible, and I mean enormous amounts of egg, meat, queso, and toppings heaped on a double tortilla that wasn't even enough to hold it all. By far my favorite taco when I come here. Almost could not finish it all, and I'm a big eater. Kesos is a really chill place to get some excellent breakfast tacos all day or some of their heartier options. Big tacos, lots of deals: free chips and salsa with yelp review, happy hour free drink, and on the hooked app. So if you're on a budget they have lots of ways to help fill you up for cheap. Their breakfast tacos are probably the best bang for your buck: large amounts of egg and meat/cheese/potatoes. Slather some salsa on and you're good to go. The queso is really uninspiring - its got a thick consistency but not much taste. Oddly, the texture didn't change after 30 minutes of eating - didn't stiffen at all which is strangely scary. I got a surf n turf taco and a triple oinker. The surf n turf i couldn't even tell there were shrimp in them - they were that small. Even the meat didn't taste like decent quality steak. Triple tinker is probably the greasiest taco I've ever had but its pretty good if you don't mind the pit of oil. Think spicy pork fat oozing out of your taco and soaking through the plate liner. Extremely flavorful but not for the health conscious. It'd be nice if they griddled their tortillas first but that's minor. For the price, its meh. They're are better around in the area. read more

They have unique sodas that are made with real cane sugar and the place wasn't overly busy. We opted for salads instead of the Tacos and customised it. But they were very accommodating. It's the same regurgitated taco ingredients in every establishment cooked in a different place. The habanero sauce was pretty hot and flavorful. The two tacos they had were tasty.
