Amazing experience. I came in to get out of the drizzle and immediately felt how cozy and inviting the space was. The atmosphere really pulls you in and makes you want to stay a while. Nikki was a doll, genuinely kind, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel personal. I started with a croissant and then went for the buckwheat pancakes and Turkish eggs. The buckwheat pancakes had a delightful texture that was truly out of this world. The Turkish eggs were an experience on their own, rich, balanced, and full of flavor. Amazing experience. Jazmine was wonderful, warm, attentive, and on top of everything. There were three baristas working when I came in and the team moved with real efficiency without sacrificing hospitality. The coffee was excellent, but the French toast was the standout. You can tell it is made with intention, house made, custard soaked, and finished in the oven. They let me know it would take about 10 minutes and it was absolutely worth the wait. Five Stars! Kettle On Coast has a uniquely flavorful menu. The flavors are insanely good, aromatic and complex. It's North African/Mediterranean. Don't compare it to the old restaurant that used to be there, it's its own thing. They do still have some of the "old favorites" (recipes from Petite M) in the front-facing pastry shelf like the famous "all day bun" I came with a friend recently and had a great experience. We ordered the French toast and the Shakshuka Verde, a decaf pour over and green tea. The shakshuka was absolutely delicious with a little heat on the finish but not too spicy. In fact, I think spice would overpower the flavor profile. 2 large pieces of thick bread come with the shakshuka and you essentially use the bread like a utensil. Eggs are poached to perfection. On the sweeter side, the French toast is thick cut and dusted with sugar, and comes with whipped butter and an amazing crème fraiche. Just outstanding! The pour over was okay, it's not my normal choice, so I think next time I will get an Americano or a latte. The pricing is higher than other local places, but you are paying for the elevated menu, so I think it is worth it. After brunch, it's just a short walk to the pier! Newest up and coming gem of oside/north county!! The space is quaint and cute. It's pretty quiet on weekdays (which I love for me because it's the perfect wfh spot with Wi-Fi), and busy on weekends. I've loved everything I got so far & I've been three times already. I got their hazelnut latte, but pls don't sleep on the food menu. Their grits & their matcha bread pudding are PHENOMENAL. Kettle on Coast opened about two weeks ago, and we decided to stop by on a whim. The previous spot, Petite Madeleine, focused on breakfast and offered some kid-friendly options. Kettle on Coast has shifted toward a brunch menu and even includes a dog menu, which I think is a fun and thoughtful addition. That said, there's still an opportunity to expand the kid-friendly offerings. They currently have pancakes and French toast, but adding a simple kids plate-- something like eggs, hash browns, and a side, would be a great fit especially given how many families are in the area, both local and visiting. They're still serving the same pastries from Petite Madeleine, which is a nice touch for returning customers. The interior has been refreshed with updated seating (the booths remain), new pendant lighting, and a more open layout that makes the space feel inviting. The coffee bar is now set up as a pickup area where they call your name when drinks are ready. Hours are currently around 7:00 a.m. to 2:00/2:30 p.m. Service-wise, I'm not sure if we visited on a short-staffed day, but everyone we interacted with was calm, friendly, and knowledgeable--especially when answering questions about the menu. One thing I noticed was that the person who took our order also brought out our food. Timing was a bit slow: it took about 20 minutes to receive my jasmine rice and closer to 40 minutes for the Turkish eggs. As for the food, the naan was more like a fluffy pancake with a slightly crisp exterior rather than traditional naan, so the description felt a bit off. The jasmine rice was delicious, but I needed a bigger bowl since some of my food started falling out of the bowl once I mixed it up. The Shakshuka Verde was delicious! It is spicy in a subtle way. At first, seemed mild, but as I continued to eat it my mouth began to tickle. The toasted bread with olive oil was the perfect accompaniment. I wished I had one more slice of it as there was a lot of verde sauce with the perfectly poached eggs. As for service, it was good. You order at the counter and are given a number to place on your table and your food is brought out to you. The person taking the order was very polite and answered my questions without making me feel rushed, in spite of the line of people behind me. It has a casual atmosphere. They are dog friendly which is a plus for me. Looks like a great place to meet with friends for brunch or a latte with one of their delicious desserts. I took a Maple Pecan Scone home with me. Taking off one star for value - while I appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of each dish, it does feel a bit expensive for the portion size. Maybe I need to clarify on the restroom? The walls, door jam and door sticky. The floor was 'mopped' yet it must not be done with a clean mop and a grease busting cleaner. You may also want to look at how the lower foot of the walls are dirty. These may be the 'extras' that are not on the restroom chore list you may want to add. I had a delicious mediterranean bowl for breakfast, and an espresso. The service was good and very quick, i didn't have to wait long to get my food or drink. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at this location. And parking is also easy on coast highway and on the side streets, so you won't have to pay. The decor is still the same from the previous restaurant here, and so it is cozy and a great spot to stop into when you are on Oceanside! read more

We recently visited Kettle on Coast, and it did not disappoint! I was especially excited about the menu--usually, to find something this unique and high quality, you have to drive all the way into San Diego. Having this in our own backyard is amazing! My daughter was so excited for breakfast but couldn't decide between the pancakes or French toast... so we got both (of course!), along with the Turkish eggs. Everything was incredible--we cleaned our plates! The chef has created a beautiful, thoughtful menu. And for those who loved Petite Madeleine, no need to worry--they kept the same bakers, so all the desserts and pastries we know and love are still just as delicious. The baristas are top-notch and truly know how to craft quality coffee. The service was just as impressive--my 9-year-old daughter felt so special. They took the time to answer her questions and offer recommendations, which meant a lot. When we finished, I asked her if she enjoyed it, and she said, "When can we come back for lunch?" That pretty much says it all! You can tell the owner is building something really special--very family-oriented and community-focused. Let me set the mood for my TERRIBLE experience here. Mothers day, one person up front taking orders/making drinks. We patiently waited over 10 minutes to have our order taken, mind you there was nobody in line ahead of us when we walked in. After 15 minutes at our table, my wife and daughters pancakes came out. My french toast would be "5 minutes" so okay fine. After us waiting to order, the line piled out the door. People literally leaving the line because only one poor girl was doing all the upfront stuff. About 10 minutes after they brought my families food, a guy came to help her up front but my food nowhere in sight even though the guy that came up front to help hollered to the back to say "the first French toast is ready".. 20 more minutes pass by, my food is still not out. They are done eating by this point, my wife goes to ask for mine to go...10 more minutes, they finally give us my food. Waited so long for such incredibly tiny portions. $14 for an order of pancakes, $21 for an order of french toast. Yikes. read more

I have come with the tea on Kettle On that replaced Petite Madeleine. The good: they kept many of the awesome staff, and the fresh baked pastries are as delicious as ever. We still have a great bakery in downtown Oside! I got the French toast and it was tasty! I'm not sure I felt the African theme they were going for, but my stomach was happy. Not so good: prices seem to be up across the board. My toast was $21 for one piece of bread, lookin a little sad and lonely on a mostly empty plate, so they are definitely going for a more upscale vibe. Money up, portion size down. The food is PHENOMENAL! ill be telling all my San Diego/ Oceanside Fam n Friends to visit this cute coffee stop with some incredible bites. I wish I took more photos before I DEVOURED my dishes. Came at the soft opening Saturday before Mother's Day. First time having cilbur (Turkish poached egg) and shakshuka (made with green tomatillo base) this place did NOT disappoint. Also had the cappuccino, the pecan scone and cinnamon sugar pull apart. Practically rolled out the door instead of walking The kitchen is small so it does take a little bit for the food to come out, but there was also a live DJ so just a chill morning brunch overall. The coffee here is good, but be prepared for a wait.(even when their is No line I still wait 10-15 mins for an iced latte) I've visited several times, and the cashier is usually the one making the coffees, which slows things down. They also charge an extra fee for ice, which seems unusual. Thankfully, there are many other coffee shops nearby. read more

Stopped by this morning for their signature. Drink the lavender latte. I can't remember the exact name and the chocolate chip cookie. Both delicious. The main reason I'm giving it five stars is because the barista this morning was amazing. Not only was she providing excellent service. She was running the register, and she was being a barista, and she was getting the pastries for everybody. She did it in such a calm demeanor, and she was so professional. We like a sweet and savory. After bite one it was a WOW. The rice bowl has so many amazing umami flavors going on and was blown away. I enjoyed trying Kettle for the first time since it was Petite! Having spent a lot of time at Kettle on Grand I knew to expect good things, but the unique flavors made even more of an impact than I expected. My Jasmine Rice Bowl (herby eggs, pickled onions, avocado, wilted greens) was miles better than your standard avocado toast. I'm usually a "push the greens to the side" kind of eater but the greens might have been the best part. Cooked in some sort of flavorful delicious oil. My chai was excellent as well. The server and chef David were very attentive and friendly. Happy to say I still love this place, I'm so glad I can keep coming as a little refuge from the office. read more
