I wasn't the biggest fan of Keuka Restaurant, but overall it wasn't bad for a quick dinner. I would recommend sitting outside if it is nice out. It is located downtown and if you like to people-watch like I do, you'll enjoy the patio. Our waitress was very sweet, although she recommended a beer (which I forget the name of) that I did not like at all. They serve warm bread with oil as an appetizer, which was nice to hold you over before dinner arrived. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo entree and really enjoyed it! The sauce was creamy, cheesy and delicious. They also add sun dried tomatoes, which adds a sweet and smoky flavor to the dish. The only disappointing thing about the meal was the fact that there were only 4 shrimp in the entire entree. Decided to stop for a night at the finger lakes for the night on our way back from Niagara Falls. We were looking for somewhere close to our hotel, and this was recommended by the from desk lady at our hotel. It seemed like more of a locals restaurant, and the median age of the patrons was about 75. Nice hostess and our server was a sweetheart and very attentive. No frills restaurant, but pretty good food. My wife and I both had the Concord grape salad (my wife added shrimp). It is served with a Concord grape vinaigrette dressing which is really exceptional. I also had a crock of the French onion soup, which was also solid. Overall, if you are staying up near the top of Keuka Lake, this place is a decent option for dinner. read more

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon driving along Keuka Lake. I was pleasantly surprised with the large variety on the menu. My kids all enjoyed Kids Meals (Grilled Cheese, Chicken Fingers, and Spaghetti & Meatballs). The kids Grilled Cheese looked especially good and my son gave it two thumbs up - super cheesy! My husband ordered the Keuka Burger and it arrived just as ordered and he said it was great. I ordered the Grilled "Buffalo Birdie Sandwich" with Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce. It was really awesome. The chicken was tender and juicy and the sauce was great! I paired mine with coleslaw, which was average, but good. Service was a bit slow. It wasn't overly crowded, but it looked like one waitress was covering a fairly large section. Prices were decent, nothing unexpected. This has been my go to place for a good meal but the experience we had with a take out order has left a really bad taste, literally and figuratively. It's the night before Thanksgiving. I have never ordered take out before. Looking at the menu online I see an appetizer tray of wings that will be perfect for the crowd at my house. I call to order. The person taking the call has no clue what I'm talking about, gets the "manager" on the phone who only verifies that I will pick up the order, the proceeds to take down the specifics. For good measure I add one of my favorite salads there. When we get there (son and I) the "manager" begins lecturing me on the proper way to order from the "catering" menu. She chastises my lack of understanding of their internal rules and then describes the mistake I made that resulted in her having to finish up the order upon pickup. My son is visibly upset at this treatment and I try to smooth the situation as the "manager" continues to explain all of my mistakes. Ok it's the day before a holiday, but the place wasnt packed, it was pretty calm in there, no one at the bar where this tongue lashing is happening. I pay, leave a 10% to on a take out order, head home. I'm all for peaceful, no drama, good karma. Now we sit down to eat and these are the worst wings I've ever had from there. Two of the 5 boxes appear to have no sauce at all. They are very under cooked so still quite fatty. So this great local deal for some wings that have always been so good ended in nearly a third being thrown out. This restaurant wasn't really anything to write home about. Our hotel was located in Penn Yan and after a day in the heat at wineries, we didn't want to travel far from our hotel. The menu, food and atmosphere were generally disappointing. I would call this place your typical American family restaurant. There was a small bar with TVs, but the vast majority of the restaurant was tables. We read the reviews prior to coming so we were prepared for an average experience. I'd read that dinner came with warm bread and oil but we definitely didn't get any of that. After experiencing some really reasonable prices in the region at wineries and another restaurant, for the quality of this restaurant, I thought it was over-priced. I don't think you should be able to charge above a certain price if you have ads on the tables at a dinner establishment but maybe that's just me being judge-y. Nachos Grande were typical nacho fare--with ground beef, lots of veggies. The lobster bisque was mediocre, and the loaded potato skins were mediocre. My fiancé and I arrived around 7:15pm on a Friday, but there were a number of tables open in the dining area. We were seated, and waited a solid 7 minutes before a member of the staff came to take a drink order. We ordered drinks--him, a draft beer and me, a glass of wine. Both were brought relatively promptly and were both satisfactory. We ordered two appetizers to share instead of ordering any dinner entrees. We ordered the pulled pork nachos and the bruschetta. The nachos were decent--the cheese is a cheese sauce that's not super special but the pulled pork is good, and the other toppings add flavor (jalapeño, olives, tomatoes, onions, peppers--although disclaimer: we got ours without onion). The bruschetta was a bit boring. The bread is nicely toasted and the pesto is okay. The tomatoes on top are diced a bit too large for my taste, as the pieces kept falling off. Shredded parmesan was lightly melted on top. It wasn't bad and came with 5 servings, but overall wasn't anything to write home about. And then we got a take home serving of the chocolate decadence cake. The waitress did forewarn me that it's a fudgy cake instead of a lighter bake. I absolutely loved it. It's similar to a torte--it was rich and delicious. This is probably the one thing I would continue to go back for. I just finished the slice, and I already wish I had savored it more. read more

We ate at this restaurant on our last night in Penn Yan. We sat outside so only got a peak at the inside. We sat at a table on the sidewalk facing Main Street. Penn Yan isn't a very active town on the weekends with the exception of Lloyds Limited so there wasn't much to see. (Except the worlds largest Griddle) The food was good. Hubby got the fish fry which was a rather large piece of fish with French fries and I had the quesadilla which was amazing and I got that with onion rings. This is a pretty good place to stop for food if you are on the top of lake Keuka. I can recommend Keuka Restaurant. read more

The lobster bisque was delicious and the prime rib was good but that's about it. Our waitress took our order which was an app and dinner. The app came out warm and then dinner followed about 2 min after that. The sides (French fries and rice) were cold but again the main dish was good. For our first visit to the Keuka Restaurant we were fairly disappointed. It's nice inside but it's missing something...like atmosphere. The walls are light and smooth causing the juke box music on the bar side to be very loud in the restaurant. Also, the tables have advertisements printed right into the top which is odd. On the food side, my Cajun haddock was only lightly spiced and was barely done. My partner's pasta had a weird texture, like it was microwaved or something. On the other hand the roasted red pepper soup was excellent. All things considered, we'd normally give it a second chance, but the prices were too much for what we got. read more

Very slow service (not just slow but was ridiculous). Was then told all drinks free (they offered it without us even asking) They even made the point twice after someone at the table asked that all drinks were free and not just some. When bill came I noticed that most drinks were still on bill. They said that they made mistake and could only take off some. Paid the bill and gave nice tip but I for one won't be coming back again....after coming here for many years. Just wasn't worth making a big deal about it but I suspect that if they continue with service like this that they will be out of business within a year. We went on a Wednesday and noticed the special was all you can eat crab legs, we were going to order the special but the waitress said they were running very low at the time (8 pm), she recommended getting there at the start of dinner (4 pm). The food we did have was good, the chicken sandwich was average but good, the fish fry was much bigger than I had thought it came with a piece of fish the size of the plate as well as French fries and coleslaw. I love little downtown eateries that have been there since the beginning of time. But if you want to be funky, you have to deliver on the eats. I have eaten at Kueka twice when I have been in the Penn Yan area. I actually like the 70s bar/restaurant decor. Service was low-key and friendly. Unfortunately, the food selections and preparations are out of the 70s too. Everything is just a little "off" in the flavor category. My burger tasted of the bitter char from the grill. The lobster bisque was too thick with odd seasonings. The smothered potatoes came slathered in both blue cheese and alfredo dressing. This restaurant is just funky enough for one of those restaurant "make over" shows. With just a little more imagination and a good cook, this could be a place you'd go a little out of your way for. Astonished that my Scotch on the Rocks (house brand) was only $3, glass of wine only $5.50. Varied menu with Pub items, pasta dishes, seafood, and steaks. My wife had Mediterranean Linguine which had an assortment of olives, artichokes, peppers, sun dried tomatoes, in a light white creme sauce. She liked it. I had an end cut Prime Rib which was very tender but had little taste (Au Jus also no taste). It was covered with fried onions which were overpowering, scrapped them off. Sweet Potato fries were good. Also good was the italian bread, served on wood board with butter, dipping oil, and a whole roasted head of garlic. Seriously good eats and a nice selection of local wines and beer. My steamed clams were absolutely delicious. Small sweet little necks floating in a sea of garlic butter. YUM. Hubby's lobster bisque was addictive. He ordered a spicy chicken entree and raved about it. Homemade mac and cheese was quite good. You can order it as a side for $1.50 on Friday and Saturday nights with an entree. A full portion is gargantuan, so it was a good option for us. Service was good and atmosphere was relaxed.
