I'm the victim of buying a used car that Keyes had recently worked on for the owner just before selling it. They did a couple upper engine gaskets on a BMW (valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket). It appears they did just fine with the valve cover gasket...that's a fairly easy and straight forward job on the BMW inline-6 engines. However, a common problem with the oil filter housing change is that BMW uses all one-time use aluminum bolts in this area. Re-using them will often crack a bolt, or you won't get it tight enough for a proper seal. Simply put, they must be replaced every time they're removed. There is even a warning sticker at the front of the engine bay that warns of this. So what did Keyes do? Yep, you guessed it. They re-used the bolts. Now the brand new housing gaskets they installed are leaking again, with enough oil to soak the upper radiator hose and the serpentine belt, so those parts are ruined now. If that serpentine belt breaks because of it, you're looking at $2k+ in engine repair work. I'm a DIY'er, and unfortunately now I have to put the money into parts and my own time to correct the crappy work this shop did. BMWs require just a little extra time ensuring you get the parts right. Even the Bentley manual, which almost every shop has a subscription to for every car they work on, notes the replacement bolts requirement. read more

I took my Nissan Murano here to get the AC fixed today. I was quoted by my mothers friend that it was the ac compressor that needed to be replaced, Unfortunately he went to Vietnam and with the weather being tremendously hot, I needed someone to fix it quick . I called Keyes Auto Repair and Tien answered. I let Tien know the problem of the car and he asked me bring it in the next day. Next day I brought my car in at 10 am... and my car was done by 3:30 pm!! My car air conditioner is powerful and very cold like before. I am very happy with the service with Keyes Auto Shop, along with the reasonable price. I will definitely come back if I have any other issues and I also definitely recommend anyone who needs their car to be diagnosed or fixed to call Tien!. So far it's a trustworthy company! The dreaded time of the year comes along around March...The DMV sends me my auto registration renewal papers. Why the paranoia? I knew I was due for a smog check! Well, my car passed emissions, but it failed due to my check engine light coming on during the exam. D'OH! Well, it was time to find out what was causing this issue. Turns out that my ignition timing was off due to a broken knock sensor. That piece of electronic equipment sure is pricey. So, I headed over to Keyes Auto Repair. It's near SJSU. Thien diagnosed the problem and gave me a very fair estimate to replace the part. He also adjusted the timing. The car is running good and I don't have the check engine light glaring at me. I would definitely bring back my car here for any issues in the future. I trust these guys. Now, let's hope I pass the smog test this time around! =) read more

I thought this was an honest shop and I'd been here before, but this time I was cheated and lied to. I brought expensive replacement parts in for the repair and they were swapped out for cheap parts. When confronted with the obvious deviation I was told, "These are the parts you brought in!" When I showed them my receipts and examples of my parts they said, "Oh they were defective; they came apart." The owner is a very nice man, but he did not provide me with a written estimate, and his mechanic, Mr. Long, would not tell me the hourly labor charge for the shop. I will never go here again. I was charged $100 to replace five studs and lug nuts, for example. read more

Great shop my family has been coming here for years. On my first car we had an engine swap done, radiators etc. on my current car we have had the CV axles replaced and the timing belt+ water pump done at half the price the stealership offered. Great shop will continue to send my friends and family here. very honest. Don't believe that what people are saying Thein even offers to show you what is broken or when you get the part replaced if you want to see it and see how it is broken. read more

Keyes Auto did a make good on my car, turns out it was thespark plugs that needed to be changed. They performed the job and didn't charge me for the labor, that was good of them. Two stars for fixing the problem but still two stars for not catching it the first 3 times! read more

I have used Keyes for the past 5 years and have always walked away feeling very good about the experience. On one occasion some years ago I had a quote from another shop for $2,200 to fix my Nissan Xterra. I took the quote to Keyes for another opinion and they did did the job done for under $1,000. I kept the car for a year and a half after they work was performed and never had another problem. Over the years I have taken a VW Jetta, Nissan Xterra and Honda Accord to Keyes for both maintenance and general wear and tear issues. This is a great shop with a very honest owner who has treated me and my family fairly over the years. read more
