It takes a lot to motivate me to leave a poor review. And seeing the 3-star average, I really wish I looked here before driving to the dealership. They had a used car listed on their website for 2 weeks. I drove 25 miles to see it. Aside from it taking 20 minutes to find the key, I was told I could not test drive it because it has not yet been inspected. Then, the salesperson intro'd me to the internet sales manager who tried to convince me to "pre-contract" the car before they let me test drive it. Otherwise, it would be another 1-3 weeks before they inspect it and allow it to be test driven. Over an hour wasted at this dealer, and the scuzziest, most obvious used car dealer sales tactics being attempted on me. If the GM sees this, you need to think about overhauling process and procedure. read more

This has been taking me quite an effort to even get to write this. Never in all the years I have been buying or leasing a car from a dealership (i.e. 25 years @ Vista Ford in LA, and latest at Honda WH) have I experienced this type, or any type of, buyers remorse. Never have I complained at a restaurant, returned an item bc I felt deceived, or felt this level of shame after a purchase. But there is a first to everything, and after sitting with my shame for so long, I choose to write about it. Days after the worse deal I ever made at Keys on Van-Nuys Hyundai I wasn't able to sleep, (that's not typically me), two weeks into this purchase I tried to return the car at the same dealership, and then at another I stopped by to charge the car at along the coast of CA, or at least see my options, not trying to get my money back, only to be able to get the worth of it and my needs met more, only to face my deep regret time and time again. And now, more than a year later, each time I think about my experience at this dealership, I am filled with regret, but it is nothing to how I am flooded with SHAME. Deep shame of how I was taken advantage of. So yes, I walked into the dealership of my own free will. I had the intention of getting a car and I even searched for a particular one - a small SUV, preferably a hybrid. But here is the thing, hours (of course) into it, the salesperson showed me one model and obviously talked it so big, like it's the one, normal you'd say, but somehow kept presenting me with a whole other model, changing the info, and throwing so many numbers at me time and again. Once I agreed (I was getting overwhelmed) He then went back and forth about 6 times on the color: cheering one color on like it's the prize of the century only to come back 15 min later with a whole excitement about another color, and then another, and another. You get the picture. So yes, even the color I ended up with was not even close to the one I started with. And why? Sadly I didn't question then, only later, since they had plenty cars of all the other colors he showed me...? Also part of how fooled I was, or simply an easy target in the palm of their hands... Given my age, (in my 60's), and alone, I explained the salesperson that I regularly drive between Northern California and LA, so my drive has to be efficient, but he not only neglected to grasp that, he brushed it off as no big deal and as nothing will change, while not explaining to me I will have to greatly adjust to long distances in an EV car, which is a very different experience. Since I got the car I am not able to make that drive anymore: simply the thought of even attempting it, gives me great anxiety. And then how they got more money down out of me... so yes, I know... it's my fault, and well, we all know we are swindled in those situations, but I have never before experienced this sense of deception: here I was an elder woman, alone, by then so tired and felt too deep into the process to walk away. Yes, I should have walked away and I kick myself each time I think of it for not doing that. And when I think of the men there, from the smooth talking salesperson that "helped" me, to the "managers" in the main office who play the game so well, to the loan officer - and how they probably all had the laugh of their day or maybe the month because they got to take advantage of me, this woman... and that thought alone makes my stomach sink and my heart cry. I still cannot believe it. And now what... so eventually my lease will end, and this terrible deal of emotional aggravation and money will fade out, but for now, each time I think of going back to a dealership, any dealership, I think of how I was made fun of, taken for a ride... literally and figuratively, in the vehicle of their great need to make a deal without thinking of the person behind the deal. And so if I want to say anything to Keys on Van-Nuys it is this: maybe consider working on your people's skills. NOT to smooth your clients into the next deal, but perhaps helping them get what they can, need, and even want by making a fair deal. You are not losing money by being more gracious and sensitive. You are simply being better people, even better salespeople. Think of that. read more

UPDATE: Despite initial assurances from GM Sean that my out-of-pocket expenses would be reviewed, my follow-up attempts have been unsuccessful. I spent two days trying to reach Sean directly, only to be contacted by Manager Tim, who promised to call back by the end of the day. That call never came. This lack of follow-through and continued delays are unacceptable. After my car was totaled by a drunk driver, I needed a reliable replacement quickly. Keyes Hyundai seemed like the answer when I found a Ford Flex on their lot, but my experience quickly became a nightmare of hidden problems and shockingly bad customer service. First, the salesman "Uncle" Carlo lied about the credit check, promising it wouldn't impact my score but then damaging it anyway. That was a red flag, but worse was to come. When I got the car home, the hood wouldn't close - a major safety hazard. I even had to call AAA for assistance. The dealership finally agreed to fix the problem, but after two weeks, they were still unable to do so. Ultimately, Firestone had to fix the hood issue - something a dealership should be absolutely capable of. Unfortunately, the issues didn't stop there. Firestone also found dangerously worn rotors needing immediate replacement - something Keyes Hyundai should have caught during their pre-sale inspection. Worse, during their two-week repair attempt, service advisor Elizabeth refused to replace the rotors, even though they were clearly unsafe. This forced me to pay $200+ out of pocket for repairs Keyes Hyundai should have covered. Then, after the first rainstorm, my car turned into a leaking mess with water pouring in through the headliner. When I reached out to the dealership for help, they completely ignored me. I even had my dad call them, but they wouldn't take responsibility. Believe it or not, the leak was caused by a sour warhead candy stuck inside the sunroof drain pipe! This candy was clearly from a previous owner, highlighting how poorly Keyes Hyundai inspected this vehicle before selling it to me. In total, I've had to pay over $3,500+ in repairs out of my own pocket, repairs a car buyer should never have to face on a recent purchase. Keyes Hyundai sells unsafe cars, deceives customers, and then refuses to take ownership of their mistakes. I hope Keyes Hyundai will do the right thing and refund me for the out-of-pocket expenses that should have been fixed before selling this car. Given these issues, I'm also in the process of consulting with a lemon law attorney to explore my options further. I will never do business with Keyes Hyundai again and urge everyone else to avoid them as well. read more

This review is for their service department. DO NOT GO HERE TO SERVICE YOUR CAR. They will try to scam you at every turn. I initially brought my vehicle in for an air filter change and odor treatment. Within one week it came back smelling the same AND I suddenly had an air flap issue. After being required to pay $230 for a diagnostic fee on top of the $450 that I already paid for the odor treatments, THEY DENIED MY WARRANTY to fix the air flap. My Ioniq 6 is less than 2 years old. THEY CLAIMED I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT I never got into which negated my warranty and asked me to pay over $1800 to fix it. After declining the service they released the car back to me but DIDN'T ACTUALLY PUT MY CAR BACK TOGETHER so I almost got into an accident when a piece of my bumper fell into the road. THANK GOD I hadn't reached the freeway before it broke down. They proceeded to BLAME ME for refusing the air flap service and said that was why it broke down. NO EMPATHY for what they put me through. It was WEEKS before I could get my car back. I had to call Hyundai corporate to intervene and try to stop them from continually scamming me. I lost a lot of money and time (almost a month without my car) because of their sheer lack of shame in trying to upcharge me at every turn. Even the tow guy who took my car back to the dealership after they released it to me in an undriveable state warned me not to go here given his experience with customers screwed over by Keyes Hyundai of Van Nuys. We would highly recommend Keyes Hyundai dealership. We visited dealership few times before making a decision on Hyundai Nexo Fuel Cell. Each time we felt no pressure to buy and every individual at the dealership was very knowledgeable about different vehicles features, specials and incentives. Most importantly we enjoyed dealing with Siuzanna Asratian, Internet Manager that speaks Russian and Armenian, besides English. She knew everything about Hydrogen vehicles and provided transparency about all pros/cons. Siuzanna showed us all different features' functionality within a Nexo vehicle and explain how Bluelink will operate after setup, and how to charge the vehicle at Hydrogen stations. Siuzanna did her best to offer us the best deal possible that we couldn't resist. She was very meticulous in submitting all the documentations and informing us about the process of purchase and what else is entailed. She even called us few times after the purchase to make sure Bluelink is operating correctly. This review in in regards to our experience dealing with Edmound. My father-in-law and I came in to check out an Ioniq 5, and Edmound brought it out for us to test drive. We went around the block and then got out. We mentioned the price was a sticking point, and he said you couldn't get those features for less. We said we were looking at an Equinox EV (which had the same or more features), and a Kia EV6. He threw up his hands and said you couldn't compare the two, and that he couldn't talk to us. He walked away in a huff. A few days later I brought my wife and baby (in a carseat) to see if she liked the car. Edmound was again our service person (there didn't appear to be anyone else working the floor -- 3pm on a Sunday). We checked out the Kona EV and then the Ioniq 5 again, sitting in each car for about 30 minutes after the drive to check out the infotainment and other features. These cars have a lot of menus and buttons and are a lot of money. Edmound did not come on the drives. We didn't think checking out the features or test driving it again (or, for my wife, test driving it once), was a lot to ask but apparently it was. When I gave the key back to Edmound and expressed that we liked the Ioniq but needed to look at trim levels and that we would be back to drive it again, he said that he worked on commission and didn't get paid to give test drives. I asked him to clarify -- so if we came back, we wouldn't be able to test drive the car? No, he says, you already test drove, you're not going to learn anything else from test driving again. I pushed back, saying that the more time you spend in the car the more you learn about how the seats feel and how the car's features worked. He expressed that the next time we came in we would have to be buying the car. To be clear, Edmound did not give us any information on the cars or drive with us; he brought the cars around and gave us the keys. I guess to him I was just there to take a joyride? I spent my Sunday dragging my wife and baby to car dealerships out in the heat because it's fun? Awful salesperson, absolutely insane behavior. Amazing service! I had a recall on my Hyundai, set an appointment which was this past Tuesday for 9:45AM. I got there at 9:30, waited for about 5-minutes, a service rep came to greet me and I was wicked off to the office to sign the service paperwork. While the service representative was taking care of me, I was just about to order a Lyft when he asked me if I needed a ride anywhere, I told him I was ordering one, he told me that the service person would do it and that they would pay for the Lyft! They told me service would take about 2-hours; about 1.5 hours later, I received a text my car was ready and if I needed a ride, they would send a Lyft to pick me up. Service couldn't have been better! My total bill for the work done for the recall plus the Lyft was $0.00! Please Note: The service dealership/service department is under construction. Bought an Ioniq5 here and great sales experience worst service department in terms of communication and capabilities. My car was subject to a recall 8 weeks ago and the dealership hasn't returned a phone in a week. They would not supply a loaner nor rental. Fortunately after contacting Hyundai of North America they did provide a rental and have given me an option of a repurchase and they keep the car or a significant settlement and I keep the car fully warranted but Keyes can't tell me if it's been repaired. I contacted owner and they said they will look into my complaint in a week. Every time I have been there it takes 20 minutes for a service advisor who knows nothing. While my salesperson was ok at best, he seemed to be instructed by his manager Eddie Fefer who is probably the rudest most incompetent man in the automotive industry. In addition to REFUSING to allow me to test drive the car, he tried to put high pressure sales tactics on when he couldn't answer simple questions. He would not be honest when it came to numbers and even snatched the paper out of my hands and crumpled it when i went to look at it further. This dealer advertises a discount online but does not honor it in person, tries to charge over MSRP + $3200 of additional worthless add ons. And told me you can't buy car with 0 Apr and 0 down payment. When I ask where he check my credit score he gives me app and I login with my informations, my credit score shows 753, I say are you kidding me I login to system and I am qualified I show him results, than he start to act weird. He say "Aa okay sorry there must be some problem let me ask manager". we check again but he never show me official credit score hard inquiry result. And than we discuss with him we say manager to change him, we don't want to buy from him. But he already make hard inquiry and f*cked up with our credit score. After we leave there we went to Santa Monica Hyundai and this guys check my credit score and they say it is 753, but because of Armenian guy Gary F"cked up with my credit score I had to pay 3500$ down payment and interest rate being 6 apr to buy car. So normally if he didn't do something like that to me I could buy vehicle for 29,210$ but after this guy do something to me I pay 8,000$ more. I need solution and explanation for what he did to me. When we got there we were told all they had were Electric Vehicles(we don't have a charging statiion). After making a scene, they finally got us a Venue. *0 stars if I could* Car was serviced here in February, they replaced the water pump and when doing so they improperly reinstalled the engine mount. Negligence!! Fast forward to today, my family and I were driving on I5, when the engine started to make weird noises. Pulled over immediately and saw the engine mount bracket bolts are just sitting there, not attached the engine. Very scary that this happened with my 3 month old in the car. Towed car to the nearest Hyundai dealership to me in Northern California. My car has been sitting at the dealership waiting for Keyes Hyundai to respond back to them about moving along to fix this issue. We have given them the opportunity to make things right. No one at Keyes is taking this seriously, up to the managerial level. I have been reaching out myself everyday for the past week with 0 responses to move things forward. Keyes sold me a new used 2002 Kona, under full warranty...but with a battery that had 2 percent left on it, per Triple AAA. The battery died after three weeks -- so right as I have to make my first car payment, I also had to spend $300 on a new battery. Their contract says the car is supposed to be fully ready to go, including a battery inspection -- which obviously did not take place. Maybe none of this illegal. But uncool? Yes. Steve, the manager wrote back here to say that he "appreciates my patience." What patience? I had to buy a new battery, the deed is done. We all know car dealerships can be low-class, nickel and diming the customer. I thought Keyes was a little better than that...no. AVOID! read more

First off I'd like to say that everyone that works at Keyes Hyundai is amazing. It has nothing to do with the customer service. I bought the brand new ionic five regrettably. I want everyone to know to not buy it! First off the roof is so thin I went hiking two weeks after I bought it and an acorn fell on my roof and dented it. I know that sounds insane, but it was a really big acorn. Next. I've been in for five recalls already, my battery is constantly going out and I've been to both dealerships and now they say that my battery is not even under warranty when I haven't even driven 50,000 miles do not risk getting this car. It does not charge to 300 miles so you will spend your whole life at the charging station. There was false advertising when I bought the car and then I couldn't get out of any of it. I've spent the last two years waking up at 4 AM just to charge the car, the outside of the car is not made well. The battery does not charge properly. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the service department at Keyes Hyundai, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I purchased a car from a 3rd party and immediately brought it to an independent mechanic, that was referred to me, and has wonderful reviews. They recommended I do oil and filter changes, in addition to wiper blades, brake fluid and other minor repairs. While the car was at the mechanic, I scheduled an appointment for a few days later with the Service Department of Hyundai for 2 recalls. We dropped the car off in the morning, and a few hours later I received a call from Raymond Perez telling me we needed brake fluid, new wipers, and other unnecessary maintenance. I was bewildered, and called him out on this. He seemed shocked! The lack of professionalism exhibited by the service staff was utterly disheartening, and it raised serious doubts about the competency and integrity of the dealership. Furthermore, the pricing for the proposed repairs was exorbitant, especially considering the fact that I had already paid for similar services at half the cost recently. It is evident that Keyes Hyundai prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction and genuine service. I implore anyone considering this dealership for service to proceed with extreme caution. The complete lack of accountability and the disregard for customer trust exhibited by Keyes Hyundai is simply inexcusable. I may even report them to the Better Business Bureau for unscrupulous business practices! I wish I could give them ZERO STARS! read more

Note: This isn't about sales but complimentary maintenance service for a vehicle under warranty (lease). Let me just start off by saying this was the best service I've received out of a dealership. Called to get my appointment instead of using the online website to see if anyone canceled. Lucky me, got an appointment for next day. The person scheduling me (forgot his name I'm sorry) was really polite and straight to the point thank you. Showed up and was seen in a reasonable amount of time. I was a little early and they got to me in about 10 minutes, right on the dot for my appointment. Signed electronically, thank goodness, got copies of my paperwork, left my keys in the car and just relaxed in the wait room. Got an estimate for about an hour and a half (this is extremely fast in my experience) for a factory recommended complimentary maintenance. And even got the car a little earlier. Having a streamlined and straight forward experience is all I ask for, don't want to stress out about walking in. Overall, the experience was exactly what I was expecting and left feeling that I will keep coming back to this location. I recommend driving here even if you're a ways out to have your car done for complimentary maintenance. It is a much much better experience than another dealership not too far south of it. read more

They told me my car (that I already had a deposit on) would be ready on a Wednesday, and that I would get a phone call when I can pick it up. No call came on Wednesday by. I called the dealership trying to reach the two salesguys. Turns out both of them were off on Wednesday, and would not be back until Friday. We went to have our leased 2021 electric Kona serviced and get recalls done. We spent 495.00 had to pay for many services. We were told our back windshield wiper needed to be replaced. We said ok paid 62.00 and they did not replace it!!! We tried to text the service advisor and also the service manager. Unfortunately we still have not been texted or called back! DO NOT BUY/SELL A CAR HERE! My fiancé purchased a used car from this dealership in October 2022 and sold his old one to them. 29 days later - the cars transmission DIED. Thankfully we were still in warranty- saving us 5k in repairs. In December we started receiving parking tickets from my fiancés old car, you know, THE ONE WE SOLD. We take full ownership that we did not remove old plates from the car but this was our first buying experience and hindsight is 20/20. It was still the dealerships responsibility to properly register the car in CA and under their name, which they never did. It is now July 2023, 9 months after we sold this vehicle to them, and we are still receiving parking tickets because whoever they sold this car to at auction decided to not register it themselves. After speaking with the GM of Keyes, they claim it is not their fault and we need to speak with the DMV - guess what - we have. They say its your fault...good luck Keyes - I will continue to tell everyone I know about your terrible business practices and scams. :) Oh and Steve, the "business owner" we have already spoken...you're the one who said the ABOVE STATEMENT that it was our fault do you pull this many scams that you don't remember who is who?
