My experience here has been incredible. I know most people say that getting your repairs done (especially the big ones) at a dealership are going to cost you more than they need to but I've learned you get what you pay for. I was without my car for almost seven months after I let another shop do my engine "rebuild". Long story short, I spent about 6,000 and had to file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (fantastic resource I didn't know about). I ended up at Keyes Toyota Van Nuys with rep Kenny Oliva-Rosales and the guys in the shop who were able to diagnose multiple problems with the previous work, liaise with the investigator from the B.A.R., get me a new engine, and put me back on the road. Where do I start.. from us pulling in, parking and getting out. We were not greeted with the most welcoming interaction. We meet with a sales man, don't remember his name, but he's a short Hispanic guy. He seemed friendly until he figured we were not going to purchase a vehicle. After us telling him that we wanted to keep our options open, buthe insisted we purchase a Toyota vehicle . We walked, as soon as his tone of voice changed and he seemed frustrated at this point. About 2 hours later he calls us, asking us if we can come back asap, that he would offer us "x amount off" and a better offer than any other dealer. We said "no, we are not around the area" he just hangs up on us. If that's how this Toyota dealership let's their sales people talk to potential clients, we'll than good luck! This is not the first time we've treated like this, we still decided to give them another chance. You'll see friendly faces going to the other dealerships!!! We had a tight budget and working with Evan was very helpful as well. He ran the numbers several times at different down payments and car models to ensure that we got a vehicle we could afford while also being aware and knowledgable about the rate that we would be paying every single month. I had an amazing experience with Toyota I bought a used car once I drove it off the lot i knew I was happy I had it less than a month l started having problems with the usb took it back they fixed and then I took it again for the same thing they fixed it. Then 1 1/2 later I was having problems with the a/c told them was gonna take it back then it started working so I didn't think anything of it. Then if was time for a oil change mind me I was told I could take it to them so I went to service they said sorry we can't service it cause it's not a Toyota I bought a used Honda CRV if I would of known I couldn't take them to service the car I would of bought a Toyota but no one told me now my a/c is not working I need the a/c to work cause I have health problems. Buying a car on my own I was so so happy but regret buying a car from Keyes Toyota but now I'm stuck with a car that is disappointing and not safe for me to be in. It's getting hot and my A/C is not working right and my usb. What made me so mad was well you bought a used car you buy the car as is. You think I would learn my lesson with this dealership. Absolutely awful! I did not purchase my vehicle from here but I have had 3 experiences here and the last two spaced fairly apart and the same impression has been left-- all with the service department: Experience 1: Came in while I was still under Toyota Care for my 40,000 mile service. (Having the extended care). The service advisor let me know my brakes were low and needed to be replaced, which knowing cars and especially my car well I knew this and okay'd them to replace them. * Found out at my 45k appointment from the different dealership that Keyes used the 45k "coupon" in my package and because of this invalidated the 40k and I had to pay for the 45k service that should have been covered. I asked ho this could happen and the dealership said because Keyes got paid out more on the 45k from Toyota Corporate for using that one. CROOKS! Experience 2: Two weeks later my brakes are acting like I didn't even change them out. My now husband, took the car back and they did a drive test, were able to verify, and then told my husband for a full diagnostic it would be $100. Are you kidding? You did the work that I paid $300+ for and you are going to charge me to verify your bad service work? We then took it to Santa Monica Toyota and the service advisor there put it on a rack (no charge) and verified new pads but the rotors never got turned so that was now causing issues.... only way to fix it.... new pads and new rotors. Thanks KEYES. Within a few months it was then at an independent shop where I now go where the work is honest and they are CUSTOMER minded. Experience 3: Just today called because one of my keyfobs has been unprogrammed to my car. $160 was quoted to reprogram.... for 10 minutes of effort? Are you joking? And when I said other dealerships charge less their response "We are run independently and we stand behind our charges". This is VAN NUYS not Beverly Hills. So every experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I hear awful things about the owner of Keyes and it makes sense given this. Love the brand Toyota and it is too bad these INDEPENDENT dealers are giving a bad impression. Thank goodness I never purchased from here. I am pretty sure they would have tried to scam me otherwise. I have worked with other dealerships on the Westside and Valley and I will be seeing North Hollywood Toyota where I purchased (and it is farther from my house) if I ever need the dealer for anything (cross my fingers I never will). He kept asking for my ssn and proof of residency copy because the bank couldn't approve my loan. So I told him I'm coming there to fix and need cancel some warranty and gap insurance. I came last saturday victor told me your loan was approved and I was like how when rene kept bothering me to send my ssn and proof of residency. And all i wanted was to pay off my car but they keep insisting for me to get a loan so my credit would get better. All they want is to take to money. read more

Me and my Wife purchased a 2018 Toyota Rav4 XLE Hybrid from Keyes of Toyota in Van Nuys. The vehicle was a Lease trade in. The car was nearly in excellent condition. When I first contacted the internet manager, I requested if I could purchase the vehicle at a lower price. The internet manager agreed. The very next day I contacted Santiago. He was very polite and new everything about the vehicle. We were then allowed to test drive the car. We then completed all the paperwork and waited for the dealership to complete the credit app and purchase order. Immediately after that another salesman came out and showed us a "bogus document" The bogus document indicated the price of the car with an added feature (Car Alarm), The price for the alarm was $999.00. When me and my wife saw this we were very disappointed that the dealership did not declare the car alarm. My wife and I told the manager that this was a deal breaker! I was so upset that I went to my car and was ready to drive off. They immediately came back and stated that the "car alarm" would be disarmed and the $ 999.00 fee would be removed. We went ahead and agreed to my initial price and drove the new vehicle home. If it wasn't for the "car alarm tactic" I would have given the dealership a "great" yelp rating. We had a fantastic experience at Keyes Toyota! As soon as we walked in the show room, Abdu greeted us with a smile and made sure someone helped us right away. Jose stopped what he was doing to assist us despite the holiday party going on upstairs. We already knew what car we wanted coming in. We mentioned exactly what we wanted and Jose was able to work some magic and got us the exact specifications we were looking for at a price we could not refuse. He went to vouch for us on multiple occasions to make sure we reached a deal. We then when to sign most of the paerwork to make the process easy since the car was coincidentally scheduled to arrive within the next two days. Alvaro, the finance manager, was very kind and explained everything we were signing until we were comfortable with the forms. The following day we recieved a phone call that the car had arrived. We scheduled a time to pick up the car. We arrived a bit early and they were a bit busy but kindly asked us to make ourselves comfortable and enjoy the waiting room amenities while they brought the car up. The car was brought forth, we inspected the car and went for a test drive. Jose was always kind, friendly, and calm. We never felt pressured or rushed. After we approved to move forward with the purchase, Jose directed us to Clayton to finalize the paperwork. After Clayton explained all the document and offered us different packages, we finalized the deal and signed all the documents. Jose would constantly come and check up on us often. Once all paperwork was done, Jose greeted us again with a big smile and a hug. He placed a large bow on the car and we took a few pictures. Jose was always a pleasure to work with! He was funny, warm, attentive, caring, and treated us like family. He made sure we were taken cared for throughout he whole process and certainly won our business and admiration. I had a very bad experience with this dealership SERVICE TEAM. I pull up and my appointment was at11:50 I got there 11:57 and I asked a random worker if I'm going in the right direction since a car was driving in the opposite direction. he said yes to pull forwards some one would be with me shortly. I didn't think shortly would have been 49 min.I seen people walking towards my car but the wouldn't approach me they would go to Ochoas food truck. which I would have joined if I would of known I had to wait a whole hour. and to make it worse I was the only vehicle there for about 40 min. some one else had pulled up behind me and they went to that person right away. so I asked and the guy said some one would be there shortly. So I called the service department no notify turns out my adviser was in lunch. Finally some girl approach me and asked me if I was there for service.... at this point I felt like telling her No I've been sitting in my car for almost an hour to go eat tacos.... Of course I'm there for service. then she goes about telling me about my issue and tells me I have to keep the car there when I called before and they told me that they can do that service with in the same day. to make things more interesting she goes and tells me that the warranty doesn't cover and all this bs . money is not the issue the customer service is. I felt like I was just some type of less of a class. and she went about telling me that some scratch was there I went took a better look it was a spider web and when I ask her to show me she ssaid it was there no duh. that made me realize my car would be better off at the primate section at the zoo at least I know they would do a better service then here. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO KNOW ONE FOR SERVICE. but purchasing I do they would even lick your toes in that department. But 1 hour for some one that doesn't even do there job right is just un fair. We didn't do much research so we went to the dealership for expert advise. Test drive great, vehicle outstanding, sales and numbers process F- . Our sales person asked "do you know how much this van is? My wife replied I don't know.. 44,000? He replies about that. He then tries to give us down payment and monthly payment options. I say "based on what amount and is there a mark up on this vehicle." He replies "of course no mark up and based on $44,000." (Red flag) why would the payments be based on my wife's guess on the purchase price of 44,000 exactly? Then he says I'll make you a great deal and lower it to 40,000. But still same down payment and monthly payment. (Red flag) how is that mathematically possible? Then I look up the msrp of the 2022 sienna Le. Turns out this van is $34,560 ( or something close to that). Just to give you an idea this is a base model van. The nicer XLE model isn't even $44,000!!!!! I showed our sales rep my phone with the Toyota website msrp. Then he claimed that there is a shortage of vehicles right now. Ok.. I know what's happening in the world. There is a shortage of EVERYTHING. But wait... you said no mark up.. that's almost $10,000 over the msrp. WOW.. super disappointed in humanity right now. You ever see that carvana ad with the shady car salesman.. LMAO !!! We were literally on that commercial.. BEWARE people.. nice dealership, great valet service.. but do your homework. Know the price of the vehicle you want and basic payments you SHOULD be paying according to your down and credit. Dont get suckered into their "what monthly payment can you afford ?" tactics.
