First of all I'm going to say I dread car shopping!!!!! I always feel like no matter how prepared or informed or how much you think you know, its like going down a black hole! I just returned my Lease and was in a time crunch to find another car, the perfect car and fast (and at a great price)!!! When I came to the dealership Atour greeted me. It wasn't a pushy asking for my blood type kind of greeting either. He asked if there was anything I needed help with. I told him I had just started looking and didn't really know, I could have bought a sports car or an SUV at that point nothing was off limits. Atour had his work cut out for him and didn't even know it. He walked me around we talked about what was important to me, what I liked and my non-negotiables. We test drove a few cars. I walked out of the dealership that day with a lot of information but wasn't ready to take the plunge. He wasn't upset at all when I said I wasn't ready. He asked me if he could check in with me in a few days to see if I had any questions instead of stalking me like the guys from Some other dealerships. When atour called I had Some more questions and wanted to test drive again. We schedule an appointment. When I got there he was as patient as the first time. There was questions, answers, test drives MORE QUESTIONS!!! At the end he found me the perfect car and worked so quickly. He was incredibly Responsive (even on what I think were his days off)! Ok, where do I start. This could so easily have been a 5 star review. The initial sales experience was brilliant with Yvette. She was helpful and knowledgeable and she is the only reason why this is a 2 star review and not a 1 star review. I can't say enough good things about her. I was waiting for everything to be finalized so I could put in a nice review. Unfortunately, that's where the great experience ended. During the signing of the finance papers, we were told that we had to buy the gap coverage and extended warranty at the time of purchase and these could not be added afterwards and we were also told that we had 60 days to cancel these so there was no risk. We duly got the two and I then went out and did some research. The first part of that statement turned out to be completely false. Gap coverage is available after the purchase online for about 1/3 of the price and the same extended warranty can be purchased for half the price directly from other Toyota dealerships at any time before the factory warranty expires. After finding this out, I decided to cancel both of them. While you apparently do have 60 days to cancel both, cancelling them has been a nightmare with numerous unanswered emails and messages, broken commitments, and constantly changing stories. For example, I was initially told that I could cancel them over the phone, then I was told that I had to go into the office, then I was told that I could cancel them over the phone. Finally, I went into the dealership to make sure that I had the cancellation in writing. Initially I was told on email that it would take 24 hours to finalize the cancellation and when we went in to sign the papers, we were told that it would take 3-4 weeks for the bank to get refunded and that it would be quicker because we had come in to sign the papers. Later, on email, I was told on email that it would take between 6 and 8 weeks for the bank to receive the refund and that this information was provided to me when I signed the cancellation papers which is hogwash. So much for an easy cancellation. It now been 7 weeks since the initial email to cancel them and the bank still hasn't received the refund. I somehow doubt that it will be received by the bank any time soon. An now, here is the kicker, I am now receiving toll violations for my trade in. This started 6 weeks after we left the car and pink slip at Keyes Toyota. They are supposed to have submitted the transfer papers to the DMV within 10 days according to the DMV FAQ. I did my part and completed the notice of transfer and release of liability. They just seem completely incapable of doing their part. I sent them a message on their website regarding this and it went unanswered as was a previous message on their website. I purchased a brand new car from Keyes and leased a second one and at this point it's very unlikely that I will ever get another car from them. read more

I bought a used 2013 Jeep Wrangler a couple weeks ago here. They were courteous at the dealership as you'd expect. The area for little kids who were with me at the time was appreciated. The salesman ("Jose" - apologies if I misspelled or typed) was nice enough and seemed determine to make sure I was comfortable. Just last night I was leaving work and the car would not start. Called AAA to find the battery was dead. Tech said it was an old battery and was leaking. You would think this would have been checked and/or fixed prior to selling the vehicle. $175 later it has been replaced on my dime. The dealership agreed to fix a slash in a window prior to selling the car and did provide a car wash. They seemed very determined to get a recommendation for repeat business. After having been told the vehicle was inspected fully and would not be sold otherwise, I was bummed to have the battery issue so soon after purchasing. Otherwise no issues thus far. read more

To say that the sales staff here is grossly incompetent is an insult to all those people who are grossly incompetent. To start, they know almost nothing about how to set options in the Prius I purchased. Forgiving that, I purchased an alarm and left the car with them for several days to get the alarm installed. When I picked it up, it wasn't installed and I had to come back. I was told it would take 20 minutes to do the install - but after 2 hours of waiting I gave up. Since my car was a plug-in hybrid, I'm entitled to California carpool stickers. I waited about 6 weeks (which is the wait time) and finally called - ooops, they forgot to send the paperwork to the DMV. We've purchased from Keyes before, but will never go back. read more

STAY AWAY! I wish I would have read up on some of the reviews of this dealership before I purchased a fairly new pre-owned car here about 2 months ago. I am not surprised to see so many HORRIBLE reviews. This place is VERY over-priced, however I knew that and came anyway because I preferred to spend extra and have it certified and with a warranty rather than worry about having problems with my car soon after purchase. The first day I came in they quoted me a good price for my trade-in and about $2k off the price of the new car I wanted (still MUCH higher than pricing I found on online pre-owned car sites for the same model and mileage) so I came back the next day with my father, ready to close the deal and see if he could negotiate further. Suddenly, they could only give me $3k less for my trade-in than what they had quoted me the day prior. They made a huge hours-long show of it to increase the value of my trade-in to still $1k less than what they had quoted me the day before, and lowered the price of the new car a little bit more; they said they could not go any lower because of the new tires on the car (again, still much higher by several thousand than prices online). I honestly can't believe I went for it, but I was in a rush to get a high-quality SUV so I could attach a trailer for a move to another state. A couple of months after I got the car, I went to have my car serviced and they said they could not rotate my tires because the tires were in such poor shape! When I went back to LA, I came in to talk to them about it. They were SO INCREDIBLY RUDE, arguing that they never said they were new tires (even though I have 2 witnesses beside myself who heard them say that several times) and actually WALKING AWAY FROM ME WHILE I WAS TRYING TO TALK TO THEM. They did not help me at all, and were extremely unapologetic. All of the worst rumors and stereotypes you ever hear about car salesmen are true here. Make sure to either BE A MAN or go with a man because of the rampant machismo in this place, and especially stay away from George. RUDE as all hell and I have never seen someone change their demeanor so dramatically from the day I was purchasing the car to the day I came back to talk to them about my tires and see what they could do to help me-- honestly, an issue that would have been relatively inexpensive to remedy in order to not only provide good customer service and ensure customer satisfaction but to also HONOR their word and fix their own mistake! It's 100% not worth it to buy here; just 2 months after purchasing I had to buy 2 new tires urgently and will need to replace the rest soon. STAY AWAY! read more

I saw some mixed reviews on this dealer but I decided to give it a chance anyways and I left with a very bitter taste. I came onto the lot During a Saturday afternoon around 2-3 PM and wandered around looking at their stock. I found one that I saw online previously so I went to find a sales person to help open the car up and was introduced to Alex. I really can't say he was any help at all. He was very short and rude the whole time, did not care about any of my concerns I expressed about the "cosmetic issues". All he just kept saying was well you're buying a used car. That should not discount my concerns about issues with a used car or any car for that matter. I always felt like I was just inconveniencing him as if he had something better to do. Keep in mind that I was the only one on the lot and I was there for over 10 minutes at this point. I took the car out for a test drive and after I got back he immediately just started giving me bs. I noticed the car price tag was much higher than on their website and when I asked him about the price he said which price are you talking about, the one on the car on online. So he knew the price was much lower online, told me online was somehow "pre-negotiated pricing based off my location and taxes in my area". How is that possible when I just went to their direct site and never put in any sort of location information and have disabled all of those trackers on my computer? He again did not care to listen to my concerns about the issues and was not interested in moving on the price at all. I know that they have been sitting on the car for over 6 weeks and all he keep telling me that was it's priced to move or this is why the car is so low and you won't find anything like it so they that is rock bottom pricing. There was definitely similar offerings that had much better mileage and pricing and he told me they don't compare. I walked away at that point because they were asking for too much and if they want to sit on their overpriced cars longer than fine, they are the only ones that have something to loose here. I went back online the following day and saw they dropped the price another $500 because it was still not selling. I was a customer that was willing to make a deal on a car that day and felt I was never taken seriously and was just an inconvenience from all the possible other sales they could have been making from other customers in that lot. Note that I was there for over an hour and I saw 1 mom with her 2 kids walk onto the lot for 10 minutes at most, look at a car and leave, that's it. I was looking for a new car and before coming here I went to a few other dealerships. Some were ok, some were pretty bad (made me wait for no reason, were trying to talk me OUT of the car I was interested in, told me before I even did any test drive that they weren't willing to take my current car as a trade in, etc.). So when I came to Keyes Toyota, I was pretty apprehensive and skeptical, but they turned that around quickly! My salesperson was Rene. He was extremely polite, not pushy at all and extremely knowledgeable of every car I showed interest in. He wasn't trying to rush me into anything. When I told him I was in between two cars, he offered to test drive them both and while we were doing that, he kept telling me about all the features in the vehicle, showing and explaining everything and answering all my questions about the differences in the trims. When I made a decision to buy, I was fearful of the "long hours of negotiations" but that didn't happen! Rene and the finance department were professional and reasonable, they listened to what I had to say and came up with solutions, not arguments. They worked with me, took my old car in as a trade-in without any issues and gave me a fair value consistent with what I saw on KBB for it. Altogether, the negotiation/finance part took probably about 1.5 hr (that is including signing all the paperwork, reading through it, asking questions etc). As soon as I was done signing, my new car was ready and waiting for me, washed and detailed, and once again Rene went above and beyond by helping me set up the bluetooth connection to the car and reminding me about the Toyota Care package and setting up my first oil change appointment. Everything was completely transparent and clear, very professional, and I just want to say that Rene completely changed my view of a "typical" car salesperson, I was simply blown away by his professionalism and knowledge. If there was a way to give zero or negative stars I would. We went in to get a car today and we felt ganged up on and flat out cheated. The sales man took our licenses, registration of the car we want to trade in and insurance papers and held on to them while wheeling & dealing despite us asking for them four times because we did not want to do business with them after hearing what the cost was. They basically offered us $4k below the Kelly Blue book price of the car we wanted to trade in and then tried to justify it. When we wanted to leave they held on to our papers. And finally the limit was when the head honcho came- he said he is the decision maker. He offered us what was close to the Kelly Blue book price for our old car and when we asked why they did not give this offer earlier- his response was-"you know this is business, we try to make whatever we can- a few bucks here and there... blah blah blah" $4K is not a few bucks not to mention the approach is unethical and they were basically trying to gang up and fleece rather than good and fair business practice. Well guess what- they did not get our business and we have been driving only Toyota and Lexus for the past 11 years- we like the brands and will get more of the same but NEVER from unethical cheats like them. read more

I had an excellent experience with Keyes Toyota. I took my vehicle in for a recall, tires and standard maintenance. First of all, it took two days for parts to arrive and to get everything done where as the other service depts were booked until October. Had I known what a beautiful place this was I would have been coming here from the beginning. My specialist Jonathan Gilbert took amazing care of me and my vehicle, he was kind, professional and lovely to work with, he really went above and beyond to help me. He is funny too. Jonathan Lopez hooked me up with some beastie tires at a competitive price and was a sweetheart to deal with. Everyone from the mechanics, to the intake, including the manager Jim Sarvey were just great. They have it set up so you can social distance outside while you get your paperwork done as the way the building is designed, each office is separate with an outdoor space for you to sit and get your car attended to. They are wearing masks to keep you safe. There is a large outdoor area to wait for your vehicle or Lyft. It is a fast paced, well oiled machine. He gave me some excuse that the phone system was not working. Didn't even have the decency for feign an apology. COVID-19 excuse as a reason not to wash my car. This dealer is incredibly difficult to negotiate with, I found that they negotiated in bad faith. I came to terms and fully agreed to a price on a used LS 500 and then was sent an invoice that had extra hidden charges for warranties that I did not need that were useless. These were forced warranties that were specific to their dealership for things like nitrogen and nail removal in tires and removal of sap from the paint. I was dealing with three different decision makers and did not know who the actual decision-maker was and they kept playing hot potato with me, as I would receive different calls from different people. Even though I had perfect credit and was preapproved with my own loan they were forcing their loan on me. Additionally, they told me that I would need an option contract to buy the car but then reneged and said they would not offer me an option contract. They were truly all over the place and texted me that the car had sold within 30 minutes of re-trading all the terms. If you value your time and want honest and good people to work with, I would steer clear of this dealership at all cost!! read more

I have to say, Keys Toyota saved the day! I was having trouble passing smog and had taken my Corolla to a few other mom and pop car shops, hoping I could get the problem fixed before having to head to the dealership. I had a friend mention that they recently had a great experience at the Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys, so I decided to take their advice and go. I live in echo park, so it wasn't just around the corner from me, but when it comes to getting the right service for my car, the extra 20/30 min drive is worth it! The minute I pulled up I was taken care of with no waiting or having to flag someone down. I was told to talk to Glen, the Business Manager, and headed straight to his office to explain to him my car troubles in hopes we could work out an affordable solution. All I gotta say is, GLEN IS THE BEST. He stopped what he was doing and asked me to take a seat at his desk to explain my issue. He knew exactly what was going on with my car and personally called his top mechanic to look at my car and run diagnostics. The mechanic was so knowledgable and knew more details about my particular problem and the options to fix it than the other shops I had previously taken it to. They both offered their personal honest opinions on what they think I should do to fix the car and never pressured me into making a decision right there on the spot. Before any drastic decisions were made and money was spent, the mechanic said he would spend a little more time checking things out. ( Smog issues can be tricky to diagnose and can be pricey no matter where you go for this kind of repair). About an hour later, he comes back to me saying that he fixed the problem and that I should be able to pass smog now. I was on cloud 9! No one prior had been able to fix my car, and it had started to look like I was going to have to spend over $1,000 easily, BUT, thanks to Keys Toyota, I walked out of there with my money still in my pocket and a working car that finally passed smog! Glen and his team took my situation very seriously and made sure they did everything they could to help. They really went above and beyond. Keyes Toyota is my new spot now for all my car needs. They really came through for me and I hope that my YELP review helps bring in new customers. I know how stressful it can be living in LA and having car troubles. Go to KEYES TOYOTA! PS: Oh! After weeks of dealing with them by email Loubna Haddadi sent lease quote that made us to decide to move forward and complete the application and run our credit, Mr. Neil got back to us saying, after running the application and my husband confirming the payment offered by phone, that there was a mistake and he did not approved that quote so raise the quote by $70 per month. Hard to believe that Toyota still have this type of low level sales people in their company. They told me i would have 45 days before my first payment but finance person Jose Cruz put 30 days instead. From the Sales people to the Service people, a course on customer service is required. 95% of these people who work at Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys think they are hot physically and the smartest mentally. They talk down to you and just act arrogant. When I called to complain about the customer service there are two people who take the complaints. One male and one a female. I was told the names but I forget. The male was busy so I was transferred to the female. Its funny that the person who should be taking the customer complaint is the rudest person you encounter from Keyes Van Nuys. She doesnt even take a complaint because she is too busy defending or twisting words. She needed to simply apologize and say she would talk to the rude and unprofessional employees, even if she didnt plan to. My Keyes experience started on a Sunday. I was interested in finding a used vehicle I could pay cash for and decided to look at several different Keyes. My first stop was the Chevrolet Keyes (different review) and decided to go to the Keyes Toyota. First, Mehrad (sales guy) is awesome to work with. He listened to what I was looking for and showed me what I wanted. Unfortunately it was out of my cash budget but the manager came along and talked me into trying to secure financing since I had a large down payment (but poor credit). Against my better judgement, I decided to try. Six hours later...(SIX!) I was sitting in the finance office signing paperwork. Mehrad worked his butt off back and forth until the financing went through. I signed tons of paperwork, put a small down payment towards the purchase and told to come back with the remainder of my down payment, some bank documents, car insurance and pick up my car. I told them I could make it back in on Wednesday morning with all the requested information and cashier's check. Wednesday morning, I had a friend drop me off with all my necessary paperwork. I turned it all in and was told the car was being washed and gassed up. It wouldn't be very long. Four hours later (seriously...) I'm told my financing didn't go through because my vehicle had too many miles on it for the bank to finance it. If I choose another vehicle with lower miles they could finance it and I could transfer my insurance from the one I couldn't have. Hour and a half later (I sh*t you not). Nope. No financing. No vehicle and wait for another 1/2 hour while they locate the multi thousand dollar cashier's check and refund my initial smaller down payment. Over TWELVE HOURS ON TWO DIFFERENT DAYS and no vehicle. An hour on metro bus just to get home. I now have a multi thousand dollar cashier's check I have to take back to the bank via Metro bus and no car. My credit isn't great. My down payment large Told them and they where positive they could finance. Hit my already bad credit with TWO inquires (7 points lower now). Two wasted days and no car. Five Stars for Mehrad. 2 for KEYES. Advice to Keyes? *Don't tell people they have financing secured if they don't especially if you're multiple inquires hurt the person's already low score. read more

Just bought my first car on my own in July 2018 and was intimidated by all of the options (car brands, models and financing options). I went to all of the comparable car dealerships (i.e. Honda, Subaru, Nissan, etc.) and even though I'm a 10+ Honda driver, I decided to make the switch to Toyota.
