Worst fried chicken that I've had in a while. The supposed-to-be-crispy fried chicken tasted like a few days-old, dried, and greasy. The fries were stale and tasted like they were refried. The customer service and experience were pitiful. The young front kid acted like he didn't want to be there, and the manager lady kept talking loudly or yelling at her staff. This KFC used to be one of the best about 5 years ago. Yesterday, I had the worst, very oily chicken. The oil stuck in my mouth and it was hard to get it out. I don't know why they put the biscuits on top of the greasy chicken, they used to have the biscuits in a separate box. The biscuits also tasted old. They didn't taste fresh baked. I don't know if this KFC is using old chicken and old biscuits? The coleslaw was also very runny like it hadn't been refrigerated. The service was good, just the food was horrible! The chicken here has no MSG which is a plus. I ordered a family meal with all original recipe but they gave me half extra crispy pieces. I think they ran out of original recipe pieces. However, They didn't say anything so it's kind of shady. Service was ok but they forgot utensils and condiments. It's hard to eat mash potatoes with your fingers so we used biscuits to grab potatoes. I just moved to Poway, and I wanted to have KFC for lunch with my husband. Advice, do not go to this kfc location. As we entered the restaurant I noticed the restrooms bad smell as you entered the place. Yikes!!!! I was like maybe we can order to go? Avoid This KFC Like the Plague -- Especially If Gigi Is Working I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but my experience at the Scripps Ranch KFC was so bafflingly bad that I feel morally obligated to warn others. I visited on a quiet Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM -- not during a rush, not during any sort of chaos. Just your typical midweek dinner run. I ordered a simple 8-piece bucket with two sides (mashed potatoes and mac & cheese), and a large Pepsi. Nothing exotic, nothing complicated. First red flag? It took over 25 minutes to get my order. And it wasn't because they were making it fresh -- the food came out lukewarm and the biscuits were so hard I could've used them as doorstops. But the real issue -- and the reason for this one-star review -- was the manager, Gigi. When I politely asked if I could get fresh biscuits (seriously, I could knock on wood with these things), she came stomping out from the back like I had insulted her ancestors. No greeting. No professionalism. She snatched the box from the counter, looked at me like I had just asked her to donate a kidney, and said -- and I quote: "They're made how they're made. If you don't like it, don't eat here." Um... what? I was stunned. Other customers literally turned around in shock. One lady whispered, "Oh no, she's doing it again." Apparently this isn't a one-time Gigi meltdown. But wait -- it gets worse. I tried to calmly explain that I just wanted fresh biscuits, not a refund or anything extreme, and she cut me off mid-sentence and shouted (loud enough for the drive-thru window staff to hear), "I don't have time for picky people tonight. You're not special." At this point, the teenage cashier behind the counter looked mortified and actually apologized for her manager's behavior. He deserves a raise. Gigi, on the other hand, needs to be reassigned to literally any job that doesn't involve interacting with humans. Final straw? My receipt said "biscuits x4" but I only got two -- probably Gigi's final parting gift. I don't normally call out employees on my Yelp reviews but have to give an honest shout out to George, the general manager of the KFC at this location for going above and beyond to provide amazing service to us. We placed a Door Dash order for a 3 generation family gathering and were really excited when the order arrived. The driver was very nice and came promptly. Once we opened the order and started to serve our kids and grandparents we realized that about a third of the food was missing. After calling back, George found out that one of the large bags wasn't picked up. It would have been very easy for him to blame Door Dash but he quickly remedied the situation, called another Door Dash and re-made the bag with new items for us. We have experienced this situation with other restaurants and the other restaurants did not remedy the issue like George did. He was kind, understanding and called us multiple times to make sure everything was fixed and right. He deserves a raise for his amazing customer service. The food was great, too! You can always count on it to be finger licking good! Haha -----TL;DR----- Pros: always faithful KFC that I've enjoyed since childhood. These tasted ok, slightly dry; but better than the tenders at the grocery deli...7/10 rating. I wish KFC would bring back the original recipe tenders! Popeye's and Raising Cane's tenders are far better in flavor and texture. The bone-in chicken is still decent, and an 8 pc is also on sale rn for $10 via app or online. I usually order half in original recipe and extra crispy. I've noticed the chicken is not as saturated in oil, as before. 7.8/10 rating. The classic and spicy slaw wraps (2 for $5): small but substantial. The spicy slaw wrap had more depth of flavors with a kick that kept my tongue tingling. Ratings: classic 7.5/10; spicy 8.5/10. Too hot to cook. And I was in the area after running errands so I settled on this place. Small parking lot. And for some reason the spaces on the far side of the parking lot are drawn up so small that only a compact like a Smart car could easily fit. That's not an exaggeration. There was a Smart car parked on this side of the lot and it barely had space between the lines! WTF?! Had to go inside coz my girl had no idea what she wanted to order...I regret not using the drive thru. Guy at the register barely registered a pulse. I initially felt bad coz we weren't clear when we ordered but he clearly wasn't into being at work this evening or he barely knew what he was doing; I can't decide which category he fell into. I ended upordering an 8-pc family meal and he didn't even ask me what two sides I wanted. I basically had to tell him after the fact. And he still came back to me later and asked me to reconfirm because he didn't enter it in the order and couldn't remember. Homie who took my order had to come back a second time to report they were all out of extra crispy chicken and it would be another 8-10min wait (another reason to use the drive thru is you get priority). Ended up settling for Original recipe. The saving Grace if this visit was the order was correct and we somehow managed to escape quicker than a couple who were dining in ahead of us. Terrible service. Drive thru, ordered a two piece and asked to add additional side of mash. Asked for 3 tenders was told to upgrade to 11 because it was only $2 more. Ok thought the number was odd but ok. Got to the window handed my order they didn't give me sauce so I had to ask them for that when he only gave me three sauces I said for 11 don't I get more, he hands me a few more. Forgets to hand me the Pepsi so I ask for that. And then I mistakenly drive away. No receipt in my bag or handed to me. When I open my food, I'm missing the mashed potatoes and there's only six tenders in my orders. Without a receipt no way to call the restaurant and tell them they got my order wrong. I learned over time the trick to getting crispy chicken to bring home is to get their extra crispy chicken. I am sandwiched between 2 KFCs (this one and Mira Mesa) and I have been frequenting this location. But after the last few visits, I've decided I'm going to go to the other location from now on. I usually order nuggets. The sauce is spicy and is too much for my kid. I ask for it to be on the side so my kid and I can both enjoy the nuggets and they just refuse to accommodate. They insist the sauce comes on the nuggets so they have to come on the nuggets. Really?? I don't think putting the sauce on the side is really that big of an issue. But I guess it is. So instead, you'll just lose a customer. I'll be going to the other location from now on. It's always the female manager that refuses to do this. She is extremely unfriendly and based on other people's reviews I can see this is just her personality. Unfortunate. Been coming here for decades and my waistline shows it lol. Service is always fast and the food is always fresh. The drive thru is a challenge though. Whether you're driving a low-rider, sedan, suv or van it's literally a hit or miss in regards of hitting the curb! The proof is on the curbs and rails... see for yourself. Pie was hot so make sure you poke thru it and let it cool for a second before consuming. 3 stars for the food and 5 for the staff. This store is located right at the corner of the street and when you turn it's turns into a coldesac. The drive thru line was long and pushed back to the end of the street. The wait wasn't too bad overall. Staff was very friendly. Cashier had a mask and gloves on. The credit card machine was on an extension pole to reach you at a safe distance. I really wanted to dry their beyond chicken nuggets before it was gone. It comes in either 6 pieces or 12 pieces alone or with a meal. I decided to do the combo meal 6 piece, with a drink and small fries tax and all $9 some change. Without the combo it would be around $8. I have not had KFC in a long time, 10 years or more long time. The outside breading of the beyond nuggets was great. It was nostalgic, getting to taste the seasoned breading. The beyond chicken "meat" was a little chewy. And for 6 pieces at that price point not sure if this will be something I crave often. Overall great service. The beyond chicken nuggets were okay but not great. If the texture could be less chewy it would be perfect. Ordered a 3 piece meal tonight, one leg and 2 thighs, and recieved 3 legs in the box. Of course we didn't notice it till after we got home. I called to ask about it and the guy says" oh we must have run out of thighs". You think they would have told us this before we paid for it. I asked him why they didn't replace it with a breast instead and he didn't really have an answer to that. He did offer me to come back in and get a free box, but I don't know if I will, they've really gone down hill. I ordered a mashed potato bowl. Shawn was the politest and most professional individual I have interacted with as of late. He also was informative and willing to help us get the most bang for our buck. I was ordering for a small gathering and I wanted to get the most food I could without breaking the bank. Shawn figured out for us and he was kind and patient the WHOLE time. I was so please by my experience that I made sure to get his name and I truly believe a manager like that is what makes a franchise/fast food establishment flourish and grow. I went through the drive thru at12305 Alemenia Roadi located in Mira Mesa. I was helped by Dominique today and she was very kind and professional. I ordered the #15 that comes with a chicken brrast, mash potatoes & gravy, a biscuit, a cookie and soda. Ms. Dominique repeated my order and made sure my order was correct. When I got to the window to pay, I asked whom was the person that took my order? I was given a chance to say hello and told her to continue doing an awesome job. She was very happy to hear and told me thanks. That it's very much appreciated. When I finally got to work , I was able to see all the delicious food Ms. Dominique packed for me. A good nice size size breast cooked perfectly. It was definitely cooked fresh. Thanks again Ms. Dominique for your hard work and customer service. We're very disappointed after we've ordered a 3-piece crispy original meal with cole slaw and mashed potatoes for $13.67 and all we got were only a non crispy 2-piece with only mashed potatoes and No cole slaw ?!?! An old man arrived 20 minutes after we came in and received his meal before we did! He must have scored an extra free piece with cole slaw!! We had to make a U-turn to come back and the very poor tired young man didn't even apologize. He took the bag in and just added one crispy piece and a cole slaw. I had heard that the chicken sandwich here rivaled Popeye's so I decided to give it a try tonight. When I pulled up to the drive thru, I waited for somebody to ask for my order for a few minutes. When nobody spoke up, I asked several times if anybody was available to take my order: still no answer. I waited several more minutes with no response so I finally just called the store. The person that picked up didn't realize that there was a long line of cars waiting in the drive thru and then finally somebody took my order after 10 minutes of waiting. I ordered 2 regular chicken sandwiches and 1 spicy. When I got home, I opened the bag and there were 4 regular chicken sandwiches, all with barely any sauce and none of them had pickles. This is literally the worst KFC I've been to. We went thru drive through since the inside was closed. We ordered the 2pc drumstick & thigh bowl, the famous bowl, hot honey tenders, and a chicken little. First off, yes I know it's the end of the night and they were probably getting ready to close up but it said they close at 10pm and I definitely made it way before then. The flavor of the hot honey was gross, they ran out of drumstick and thigh so they substituted it with a grilled wing piece and a fried breast .....The only thing that tasted good was probably the mashed potato and soda when chicken is suppose to be the main thing!
