Out of everyone, the phone call I had with this place was so sweet and kind. This was my first visit here, and I have to say.... Dr. Ryu, the eye doctor was AMAZING like SERIOUSLY. AMAZING AMAZING. 10/10 He took his time explaining everything in simple, easy-to-understand terms, which really helped me learn a lot about my eyes and vision. I got a new prescription and I realized about 5 months later that the reason I couldn't see my computer at work is because of my new prescription. I thought it was just my eyes getting worse since I was on vacation for the summer (3 months) until my friend gave me her glasses and I could see! I looked at her prescription and she had my OLD prescription!! I was so annoyed that I went that long not being able to see. I called and asked them to simply write me a script with my OLD prescription and explained why. They told me they would have to charge me $40 to simply write me my original prescription?!?! I said "really?! You guys got my prescription wrong and I have to pay to put it back?! She said yes because it had been past 30 days. I explained to her my situation and honestly, regardless- you got my prescription WRONG! That is a fair reason to fix it. I wasn't asking for another exam- just simply renew my old original prescription. Let's not forget the money I spent on new glasses with that bad prescription and I wasn't asking for that back. I just wanted my old prescription renewed. They refused. That alone shows me they do not care to correct their mistake. They only care about making money. A piece of paper does not cost $40! I'll take my business back to Target. Both the Moorpark and Simi locations are fantastic and have great customer service! I only came here because my medical covers the exam. I would rather pay for my prescription then have it done WRONG- spend $500 on new glasses and then be told they won't fix it for me with a piece of paper that takes 30 seconds to write. No thanks. He was very pleased with the adjustment in his eye prescription the Dr. gave him. He no longer is getting headaches from his glasses. This 1 star is to the unprofessional and ill mannered staff member who made very uncomfortable remarks to my father. When my father was done with the exam he chose his glasses and then met with a male staff member who charged him for his visit and glasses. Up until this point my father was pleased with the service, nothing above and beyond but average service. After payment he simply asked a question about their office accepting his coverage for safety glasses for his work. (We are new to this office and our other Optometry office would use his insurance to cover the cost of safety glasses for his work). And this employee stated " I don't know what fraud you were doing at your old optometrist, but we don't do that here". My father (who does not know much about medical or vision coverage, other than that he has insurance) simply asked a question. A simple "let me look into that for you" or even a "no, unfortunately we don't cover that" would have been the polite and professional response. As someone who has worked in the medical field for 8 years and has cared for patients I was extremely disappointed in that comment. I would never respond to a patient or any human being in that manner. So unprofessional. So insolent.

I ran over to Murata Eyecare and explained my situation. I did not have an appointment yet Dr Murata and his staff managed to squeeze me in. He drained the stye and prescribed some antibiotic drops. He checked to make sure my eye was not infected and gave me a follow up appointment in one week. My eye felt 100% better after leaving there. I simply love Dr Murata. He is thorough, knowledgeable, and really cares about his patients.

Despite me insisting when I made the appointment that they check that my insurance was actually accepted (and me insisting to check the Insurance name and ID number), they said it wasn't necessary as they already found me in their computer system. However, after the eye exam and when it was time to try on glasses they had me under the wrong insurance (and an insurance I am no longer on). Thus, essentially nothing was covered and I was left without new glasses. Despite my protestations, they chalked this up as "mistakes happen." However, I am a client and a patient whose time and money is just as valuable as theirs. I had to use my precious and valuable sick time to make and keep this appointment and yet I received nothing from it. I have to now take more time off and find a new optometrist and get new lenses/frames elsewhere. This could all have been avoided if they simply listened while making the appointment and checked the insurance information I had wanted to give them. While I appreciate that they gave me my updated prescription, this does not negate the careless regard to checking insurance nor does it negate the disregard afforded to me as a patient. I would highly recommend that if you do make an appointment with this place that you insist that they confirm they have your correct insurance information. I am very frustrated and disappointed by this business.
