Stumbled across this place on yelp and I'm VERY happy I did! Every Thai place was closed when I was craving pad see ew so badly and luckily this place was. I ordered my pad see ew with tofu and it is BOMB. I get this dish every time I go out for Thai food and this is simply some of the best! Usually I find that places skimp you out on the protein your meal comes with and that certainly was not the case here. I ate about 8 pieces of tofu and still had SO many pieces left! This is a big deal for me. I feel like I got my money's worth and enjoyed my meal thoroughly! It also had plenty of pieces of egg in it and bok Choy as well. The noodles were perfectly cooked and flavorful! I also loved that when I walked in 2 of the staff members greeted me at the door. They were super friendly! The joint was hoppin when I walked in. I've been to Khao Soi a few times for their curries and fried rice. Today I ordered the chicken salad and was disappointed in the lack of flavor and quality. For a ~$15 salad, iceberg lettuce a few various veggies and a small portion of unseasoned chicken left me underwhelmed. The salad and chicken were also room temp and did not leave me feeling comfortable to eat. Thai tea could use more tea than cream as well! read more

We had a lovely time at Khao Soi today. It was finally sunny so we found a spot on their patio, which is surrounded by cascading flowers. It's a very cozy spot. This is some of the best Thai food I've had, specifically with our go-to dishes. Order: - Pad Ka Prow Over Rice: my wife absolutely loved this dish. It's easily customizable based upon how much heat you can take. She can't handle spicy so they made it very subtle for her. It was packed with flavor and the egg was cooked perfectly. I stole a couple or maybe a lot of bites haha. - Larb Salad w/ Ground Chicken: this is my personal favorite dish when I'm trying to keep it light. The dish was also packed with flavor and had a great balance of spicy and citrusy. I would order this again in a heartbeat. Tips: Skip valet and park in the garage at the end of the lot. There are both stairs and an elevator in the garage that take you to the main level. Expedite your visit by grabbing a couple of menus inside and seating yourself. Great experience overall. BAD BAD service this evening and even discriminatory. BLACK PEOPLE, DO NOT EAT HERE, THEY ARE VERY RACIST AND WILL NOT SERVE OR TAKE YOUR ORDER. Came in, sat down, had to get up and walk over to the waiters after 25 - 30 minutes because they didn't even bother or attempt to take our order. Had 2-3 of tables of white peoples come in behind us and get their food served and we STILL sit there for nearly an hour with no food, not an appetizer and not even the tea we ordered. We were the only black people in the restaurant so definitely seemed racially motivated because they didn't treat their white patrons that way , we watched the white people have their order taken, got their food served in ample time whilst we still sat there waiting with no food ?????? Got up and started to walk out, the manager didn't even apologize. Just said do you want us to cancel the order ???? Excuse me ? Is he serious ??? After nearly an hour of waiting ????? Used to come here often before the pandemic and it was great, amazing but clearly things have changed since and they have too. Service tonight was honestly just racist and disgusting . Wasted a couple hours going here just to not even get served food but watch other tables get their food after us is just plain disrespectful. Even asked us to pay for the tea which was hilarious .... My favorite and go to for thai food in the valley! Favorites are the fried chicken (the dipping sauce is excellent!) and green beans with garlic sauce. You can choose which protein, but I hiiiighly recommend getting it with crispy pork. Their pad see ew and pad thai are among the best--perfected noodles and just the right consistency and ratio of sauce. Came here on a Wednesday around 6 PM. We were the only ones in the restaurant. This only meant that service was great. definitely a casual restaurant, wasn't too fancy. They have a patio outdoors as well. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, the drunken noodle, and the chicken satay. We also got a Thai tea to try. We also tried all of the sauces and spices, including OG Thai spice. Let me just tell you that they use real Thai spice. My mouth and my throat were on fire, in a good way. Every Thai restaurant is different from the next. Khao Soi Thai was good, but not my favorite. I also have bias. They have plenty of takeout orders coming in and out which is good to see. Later in the evening more people began to dine in. My favorite of the three dishes we ordered was a chicken satay. I also really liked their Thai iced tea. It was not too sweet. MY ORDER: Fried Chicken, Panang Curry, Thai Iced Tea TASTE: The fried chicken was my favorite dish we ordered. The batter that covered the chicken was so flavorful and is a mix of spices that aren't too overwhelming. It has a little bit of a sweet kick to it, and the chicken itself was cooked to the point where the meat just slid right off the bone. Definitely a must-try! However, I felt that the panang curry was a little too watery and really nothing special. There was a heavy milk taste, which is normal for Thai curries, but the flavor was masked because of the watery-ness. I got a level 8 for the spicyness level, and it wasn't too bad (at least for my spice tolerance), but it did have an aftertaste kick to it! The thai tea was also alright, nothing very special but it is a nice sweet pairing with the dinner! COST: Very affordable for Thai food. I was surprised to see my curry on the menu go for under $10. The chicken is definitely a little on the pricier side, but the portions are very generous and we ended up taking a lot of leftovers home! CUSTOMER SERVICE: The workers were very friendly and the man who greeted us in the beginning (I assume he was the manager) was nice enough to give us a rundown of the most popular dishes from the menu. He explained the dishes in detail, and was very open and kind in helping us have the best first experience at this place! WAIT TIME: Went at around 8pm on a Saturday night and there was no line at all. Got seated right when we walked in! PARKING: There is a small parking lot, but there are very few spots that are taken by the customers of the neighboring businesses in the plaza. You will have to find street parking and walk a little bit to the restaurant! LOCATION: The location is in a little alley-way, that could seem a little scary and dark if you were to walk there late at night. Khao Soi Thai is located in a small plaza off of busy Ventura Boulevard. They been there for three years and thanks to a friend's recommendation I found out about them and finally checked them out. When in the mood Thai, I used to go to Thai BBQ down the street up until they closed down a few months ago. I was searching for a new spot and now I found one! Khao Soi specializes in northern Thai cuisine and they're mostly known for Khao Soi - a coconut milk and mild curry based soup topped with soft and crunchy noodles and a meat of your choice. Oh my god! This one of the best soups I've had this year. I am a fan of anything coconut and I really enjoyed the flavor of the coconut milk blending with the curry. It was perfectly sweet, savory, and a had a hint of spice. The soft noodles were tender and the crunchy noodles added an extra level of texture. For my choice of meat, I tried the crab. It was very good. I was in a crabby mood and ordered the crab fried rice as well. Yum! A few other items I can recommend: thai tea, thai coffee, lemongrass tea, coconut water (served in a coconut!), issan sausage, shrimp balls, pad see ew, spicy basil, and end your meal with sweet roti.
