My husband loved the food as much as I did. Many vegetarian pescatarian choices for us. We ordered a lot so we could bring home leftovers. I highly recommend this place. For Thai lovers, mom pop quality.

Wonton Soup (8.6/10) -- my favorite dish of the night. the wontons are juicy and crispy. The broth is light but so flavorful. Khao Soi Soup (8.2/10) -- spicy, salty, balanced well with the coconut milk. a great crunch and lovely add ons to adjust the soup to your taste. Crab Fried Rice (7.5/10) -- nothing outstanding but a good way to get full.

Tasty Thai! While parked in the big parking lot for Vons we saw a big sign for Khao Soi. We loved the dish so we just had to try the place! The crab Khao Soi is one of their specials and was quite fragrant and delicious! The combo of flat rice and crispy egg noodles was great with the veggies and bits of crab. We also enjoyed the drunken noodle with fried tofu. The dish looked not as saucy as other places but it was not bland and had a good kick from the chili. Of course you can always adjust the heat level to your liking. We came on a Monday night and there was quite a few folks having dinner plus a good stream of take out and delivery orders come through. Parking is available in front but can get crowded with all the businesses in the complex.

Location 4 stars: In Studio City, California, off of Ventura Blvd between Laurel Canyon and Whitsett. The restaurant is not physically on Ventura Blvd though. You will have to enter a long driveway into the shopping plaza and the restaurant will be to your left. There are a few parking spots in front of the restaurant and there is a parking structure on the premises. There is also limited metered parking on Ventura Blvd. Venue 4 stars: Smaller restaurant with indoor tables and booths and covered outdoor seating. Service 3 stars: Basic and sufficient. One disappointing thing that I noticed is that they recommend the tip amount based on the total after tax, which is not correct. Tipping is customarily calculated based on the total before tax. Some restaurants have been trying to do this recently which I find misleading and I will call them out on it. I have posted a picture of the check. Food 4 stars: Extensive and diverse menu of Thai cuisine, with all the usual staples and a few signature dishes. Prices were on par with similar restaurants. We started with the Tom Kha Chicken Soup and the Shrimp Cake Balls. For our main dishes, we had their signature Khao Soi with Crispy Pork, the Ka Prow Over Rice with Crispy Pork, and the Penang Curry with Chicken. Be aware that you have to order rice for the curry separately. I found the Shrimp Cake Balls to be rather bland and chewy. The sweet sauce that was provided with it did not help much either. I also felt that the Crispy Pork was too greasy and gamey but that might just be me. Everything else was great and recommended. Unfortunately we did not have room to try any of their desserts this time. Drinks 3 stars: No alcohol! Typical Thai restaurant menu of soft drinks, Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee. I had the Thai Iced Coffee and it was good. The Last Word 4 stars: A solid option for Thai food when you are in the area. Recommended!

7/10 I tried Khao So Thai through a delivery app because they had a special deal, and I'll say this they give you a ton of food for your money. The value is definitely there. That said, the flavors just didn't do it for me. It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great. I've had plenty of Thai spots that leave you craving more with that mouthwatering taste, and this just didn't come close. Overall, I wouldn't order from here again, but if you're looking for large portions at a fair price, it could still work for you. I ordered khao soi and pad Thai

A super small unassuming restaurant that we just happened to come across. Now I've eaten a LOT of Thai food in my life including in Thailand and I will say the food here is AMAZING. We had the Khoi Soi Soup spicy with Tofu, the mango fish and Crab Fried Rice. All were amazing especially the Soup. Will definitely be back

If the restaurant is named after a dish, that dish better be on point and the khao soi here did not disappoint. It's usually not my go to order but after having it here, I've been converted. The duck noodles were also very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly.

    The "Not spicy" instruction
    Akemi T.

I decided to try this place for the first time and ordered a delivery of Kua Gai Noodles with an instruction specifying "NOT Spicy." See the photos below for what I received; red peppers mixed flakes all over the noodles. (What you see aren't even a half of them.) It was so spicy it was not eatable, ended up throwing it out!

The interior is a bit small and not that much seating so expect to wait if they're busy. The wait is so worth it though. Everything we ate was so good and well seasoned. The Thai tea tasted a bit watered down

Came here for dinner. Their website says they close at 9:00 pm on Saturday, but in fact, they close at 10:00 pm. Kelsey provided wonderful service. We ordered the larb salad, green curry, and chicken satay. The chicken satay was extremely juicy. The peanut sauce and cucumber salad were the perfect compliments. Although the larb salad had a really good flavor, it was definitely more spicy than expected because of the red pepper flakes they put inside. Nevertheless, the dressing had such a good flavor and the amount of chicken it had was so plentiful. My absolute favorite dish was the green curry. It was so extremely flavorful. It had the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. I got it mild because it definitely is far too spicy otherwise. I would highly recommend. Also, loved the Moo ping with sticky rice (pork skewers) and blanket shrimp. The pork is juicy and flavorful. Cooked to perfection. The blanket shrimp were lightly fried with a thin layer of soy paper. The shrimp were huge and delicious. I will definitely be back because they have so many items in their menu that look absolutely delicious. The only downfall is they are closed on Sundays.

    Tom Yum Soup
    Linh B.

Overall the food is pretty good. The Tom Yum has really good flavor I just wish there were more veggies and meat in it. The Pad Thai and Moo Ping were excellent. The service was a bit slow. The restaurant was full of patrons and they were slammed with takeout orders. There were only 2 people working the front and you could feel the stress of being understaffed from them. Definitely recommend just be prepared to a wait a little bit during their dinner rush!

I'm thinking of trying the restaurant out and I wanted to ask what are the popular dishes there?

Khan Soi for sure! It's a noodle soup from northern Thailand and theirs is really good - I almost always get it when I go cause it's so good!

Does anyone have a menu with what items are gluten free? their menus from what I can see dont seem to mention any allergen information on any of the dishes making it impossible for me to tell if any of the dishes would be safe for me to eat.

Hello Alana. We can make many of our dishes gluten free. Please let the servers know that you’re allergic to gluten. For example, we can omit soy sauce and use rice noodles instead of egg noodle for gluten free option on our noodles dishes. And we…

My son didn't make a reservation because it was a Wednesday night and he didn't think it would be crowded. But with 5 adults and a baby carriage, we had to wait for the right table because the somewhat small restaurant was full. We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.

The roti was highly recommended, and although I've enjoyed roti before, nothing has come close to this version. It was incredibly delicious--light, buttery, and perfectly flaky, with delicate layers that practically melted in my mouth. The accompanying dipping sauce complemented it beautifully. I'm a big fan of drunken noodles, but the version served here was truly exceptional--the best I've ever had. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. Our server was attentive, patient, and genuinely kind, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I thought it was too sweet for me and it didn't taste like most Pad Thais I've had or come to expect, but it was still okay. Veggie Rolls - This is pretty much salad/lettuce in a spring roll, and the peanut sauce is what makes it delicious. Not very large or filling, but good if you want some side greens. If you have a peanut allergy, skip these because they're kinda boring without the sauce. Panang Curry with Filet Mignon and added Japanese Pumpkin - This was a good dish! The steak was cooked a little too well for my liking, but it was generous in portion and the sauce was really flavorful. I was glad I added the pumpkin. Filet Mignon Pho - Not my favorite pho ever, but I liked that they offered Thai and Vietnamese options. When I ordered online, I didn't see in the description that it included bean sprouts or basil and that I had to order them for $2 each. I like my pho with every dang thing, so I spent the extra $4. The items did already come with the pho, plus I got an extra bag that I didn't really need to order. The steak was thinly sliced and tender, I just wish there was more of it. Salmon Rolls - These are pretty heavy, the fresh salmon is fried on the outside and rare on the inside. They come with a few dipping sauces, including a spicy mustard that I liked. Thai Tea Caramel Creme - This is honestly the reason I order from here. I am a damn fiend for Thai Tea-flavored desserts, and I crave this one all the time. It has a rich, velvety texture and a strong Thai tea flavor. I have thought of stopping by just to order this, and I probably will. Our orders have always been ready on time, although I can't speak for any dining-in experience, and I think it's a little pricier than other Thai restaurants. The website is just a little wonky... I like that everything is customizable in just about every way, and there are pictures of most items, but the pho order wasn't clear about what it would come with, and some of the upcharges are higher than they should be. However, I will come back for that Thai tea dessert because I've fallen in love.

Unfortunately, my first visit back in two years was extremely disappointing. My server wasn't very communicative and didn't explain the menu, portion sizes, or that many dishes were meant to be shared, so I ended up ordering far more food than I needed. The food was not what I remembered. The curry was overly salty, I didn't enjoy the dumpling filling, and the protein inside the spring rolls had an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, I simply didn't like the food (beside the vegetables soup) The atmosphere was extremely overwhelming. The outdoor seating I used to enjoy was gone, and inside the restaurant was crowded and very noisy, with loud customers, music, and kitchen noise all competing at once. After a long day, I was hoping for a relaxing dinner, but instead left with a strong migraine, I was trying to eat and felt like I wanted to run away from there to just get peace & quiet. When I paid, I explained that I genuinely didn't like most of the food. Despite barely eating more than a soup, a few bites of curry, and one spring roll, I was still charged $53 and was told "there was nothing they could do about it" This restaurant is nothing like the Hope Kitchen I used to know. Between the disappointing food, poor service, and uncomfortable atmosphere, it was a terrible experience. I won't be returning, and I cannot recommend it.

The duck curry is dense and intense with Japanese yam, a combination I've never seen before (order the curry medium spicey+). the chicken satay appetizer is double the size of what you're used to, & done to perfection. Shrimp pineapple fried rice made the perfect sweet and spicy dish. The pad se ew was done to perfection.... and we topped it all off with an Ube brulee (not exactly brulé'd but silky smooth experience all the same). Haven't taken such a long 2 hour nap on a Sunday afternoon in decades.

I finally made it, and well, no surprise, I am a fan. Parking Located on the corner of Magnolia and Whitsett Ave. There is plenty of street parking. But if your feeling a bit bold, there is a closed Rite Aid across the street that has a bunch of parking. Ambiance: For starters, this there is something about the decor, very classy yet casual somewhere you can have a quiet lunch and enjoy the day. I felt at home here and at ease. The staff were great on checking up on me every now and then and made sure I was well taken of. Food: There is a lot to talk about here. The name, for all accounts did not scream Thai Food, yet, I haven't had better Thai food and the area. I stopped in for lunch and they had a such a good Lunch selection and affordable ($20) that also includes a drink. I ordered the BBQ (due to macro restrictions) paired with a small salad and rice. Level with me, BBQ chicken is something I order really to test the waters and I can honestly say, one of the better BBQ chickens I have had. Though this review doesn't do Rustic Spoon much justice, I would highly recommend swinging by. I will, I would love to try some more traditional flavors such as the different curries and soups. Looking forward to the follow up!

Walked in today at 3:45 pm and was greeted by the host name Melody and she took us to our table. A minute later, Luis, our server came to take our order. We ordered 4 items that could have fed an entire Army. It really was a lot of food. Generous portions and still had left overs to take home. We got small orange chicken, which was more like a large size, ($14.49), Chicken Steamed Dumplings ($7.99), Vegetable egg rolls (4) pieces(8.99), and their House Special Fried Rice that came with: chicken, beef, shrimp, eggs, peas, carrots & green onions.(16.99). Luis & Bryan were very nice, pleasant, kind and very attentive. They checked on us like 4 times. Our food came out fast, tasted fresh, hot and delicious. Let me not forget to tell you that the minute you sit down, they bring Complimentary hot Green tea in a teapot. The restaurant along with the restroom were very clean. 10/10. Underground valet parking shared with other businesses; and you can also park on the street and metered parking. Thank you all for your dedication, loyalty throughout the years!! 3rd party orders, take out, delivery and of course dine in.

We ordered orange chicken, beef and broccoli, house special fried rice, spam meat fried rice , egg drop soup and chicken egg rolls. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. The only thing I could critique is the orange chicken. It was a little dry. Was cooked a little too long. But still flavorful. I will be back to try different items on the menu.
