She ordered crab fried rice, I ordered medium spice glass noodles with beef, and wonton soup. Sadly, it was all wrong. The crab fried rice had a very pungent smell beyond normal. We had to throw it away. The glass noodles were bland with no spice and there wasn't any beef. And, a piece of chicken in the wonton soup had strange grey spots. It was all a mess. Dine in review: They have a nice outdoor patio with 4 large tables and a couple smaller ones. Does get cold at night without heaters. Our server who seemed to be managing the place, was absolutely wonderful and very hospitable. The service and cleanliness is the main reason I give this place 4 stars. I do not eat curry, but my friend got yellow curry and said it was really good. The pad see ew and pad Thai were both very authentically prepared. We ordered the Khao Soi and the the Pla Rad Prik. The broth for the Khao Soi was delicious but it was served only warm so I wish it was hotter (temperature). The noodles in it were okay. I've had plenty of Thai food before but I never had this dish so I can't compare it to others but it was decent. The Pla Rad Prik had good flavor. It almost tasted like orange chicken from Panda Express but it was fish instead. Overall, the food was good but the service was very slow. We waited a long time for our food. I came upon Khao Soi after seeing pictures of their Thai fried chicken and having only tried this at one other place I had to check it out.. This fried chicken had a tempura style coating, most likely batter but unique in its texture. It comes with a sweet chili sauce and fried shallots that is crack. Borderline uncontrolled substance. I had dinner with friends at around 6:30pm on a weekday. The Khao Soi is definitely a must-try. The wet/dry noodle dish had perfect heat and temperature upon serving. I had the seafood option and the protein was generous. Service, despite the staff being busy with phone and external orders, was surprisingly good. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant in terms of food and service. We ordered so much food, but sadly not a single item impressed me. We ordered the Veggie Egg Roll, Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, Fried Chicken, Pad C-Ew, Combination Fried Rice, Crab Fried Rice, and Pad Thai. The veggie egg rolls no doubt in my mind have to be frozen store bought egg rolls. Incredibly basic in flavor. It tastes like any other egg rolls you buy in the frozen section of a store. The veggies inside were not seasoned well. Though, cooked perfectly with a crispy texture, the flavor was a miss. The sweet and sour sauce did not help. The Tom Yum soup was not the best, but the better item of everything we got. The lemongrass adds a nice sour flavor. The fish sauce adds to the saltiness of the soup. It was an ok soup, you can find better elsewhere. The Fried Chicken was a downer. The skin was incredibly crispy and honestly flavorful. Though, they need to marinade their chicken longer. After biting the outer layer, the inside is completely lacking in flavor. Although, juicy, the flavor is what is important. The meat literally had no flavor. The Pad C-Ew was the biggest upset of the night. My favorite Thai dish, was ruined by this restaurant. The Pad C-Ew was overly greasy. It was dripping in grease. The noodles were cooked well. The texture was nice. The veggies were also cooked very well. They were cooked to the point where they weren't raw, but has a nice little bitter taste to it. Though, the whole dish was incredibly overly salty. Probably, one of the salties dishes I've ever had in a restaurant in my life. Two bites, and you feel the salt penetrate the back of your throat. The salt will not leave your throat. Moving on, the combination fried rice is average. The meats were cooked to dryness with no seasoning. The shrimp was bland. The veggies were cut to big. The seasoning on the rice itself was very average. You can find better. I bet a novice chef could even make better. Crab fried rice was surprisingly better. It had a better flavor. It was honestly seasoned well. The egg was surprisingly cooked perfectly. The egg also had a nice flavor. The Pad Thai was also an issue. Noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice bite. Though, the whole dish is ruined by the sauce. It is overly sweet. From what I know, pad thai is not supposed to be sweet enough to put you at risk for diabetes. Don't order it. The quality of the dishes are a disappointment. Again store bought egg rolls. I am also pretty sure the shrimp they used in the dishes were frozen. The flavor was not right. I also believe in most Tom Yum with shrimp they keep the head on to add flavor. Though, ours was headless which makes me even more suspicious of the quality. The crab in the fried rice I believe was also canned crab. Honestly no issue with that, it was the better dishes. The presentations are standard. I would say the fried chicken stood out when coming out from the kitchen. The Tom Yum Soup presentation is incredibly boring. Everything else is just standard plating. The prices are average and portions are definitely shareable. Though, in terms of the flavor of the food, I would never spend money on this restaurant again. The staff sucks. There are two main issues with the staff. They're not friendly, and they are also understaffed. I would assume they are stressed and unfriendly, due to them being understaffed. Off the bat it took a while for our server to take our order. I can't count how many times pickup orders came in and their order was not ready. Throughout our whole dinner endless pickup customers would come in ask for their order, and wait an additional 20 minutes or so. There was constant arguing between staff and customers throughout our whole dinner service. Tables that came after us were given their food first for some reason. I observed the table next to us and their faces looked dreaded, waiting for their food. In terms of our table. It took 25 minutes for our appetizer to come out. We then waited for a minimum of 40 minutes for the rest of our food to come out. I understand we ordered a lot, but 40 minutes, my god. The front is understaffed, and I'm sure the back of house is understaffed. If management is to blame, they need to fix that. The ambiance is terrible for one reason. The decor is fairly nice and the restaurant inside is very homey. Though, it was the hottest restaurant I stepped foot in. The only cooling system is this big ceiling fan. Therefore, we waited 1 hour+ for our food in the heat. We were just sitting and all of us were sweating. Other customers looked dreaded in the restaurants heat. The place was overall pretty clean. My two friends and i all just left, plates half eaten, because we were tired of chewing the flavorless, hard as a rock "beef." Wow! What a horrible place! I placed my first order through Uber eats at 6:17 pm. It is 7:50 and they just told my driver that it will be another 20 minutes. When I called the restaurant I was first told my food is about 10-15 minutes away and I asked to speak to a manager-- that was met with no manager was there. Then another woman got on the phone and told me that the driver hadn't showed up! I was messaging with him live... she told me it was between me and Uber and basically hung up on me. Given the reviews, I was excited to try this place. However, I was really disappointed with both the food and the service. The fried chicken was mushy, and the Pad Thai was too sweet. We only took one bite of the fried chicken and left it on the table. The waitress asked us how the food was, and when we told her that it wasn't very good, she just walked away without saying anything. I wasn't trying to get comped, but at least a verbal acknowledgement would have been nice. In addition, the tables are sticky, and there are flies everywhere. We used to love this place - our last time was not as great. Usually, their Khao Soi is rich, flavorful, and holds well to the noodles. The last one we ordered was quite the opposite. You could tell they were busy with takeout orders, and the food was still good, but not stellar compared to past experiences. This time, the duck skin was not crispy. Definitely one of the better, if not, best Fried Chickens served at a Thai restaurant. We've also ordered their Thai Omelet (not on the menu). This place is insane! Such good quality Thai food and very quick in the kitchen when it comes to dining in the restaurant. My friend and I went after LA opened back up for outdoor dining. The outdoor seating is nice but there's only a few tables available, so plan ahead. Dress warm if it's cooler out and order the jasmine tea to warm you up if needed. I ordered the Khao Soi. As one of my favorite Thai food dishes, I unfortunately wasn't too impressed. I typically order khao soi from 4 restaurants throughout LA and this would be #4 on my list. It wasn't bad though! Portion size was the smallest I've ever seen/gotten - comparable to a small/lunch portion. I got thai hot for spice level and I would say it was more like medium. Customer service was wonderful. All-in-all, their food is not bad and I doubt you'll be disappointed. If I were to come back, I'd try something different. UPDATE: after the owner Nicky saw my review she reached out to me to explain the reasons why the chicken was undercooked...because it is deep fried and it was probably blood. The duck is expensive and therefore very small servings will be given and so I basically paid $13.50 for a container of white rice. She invited me to give their restaurant another try and gave me some suggestions. I placed my order with her and once I arrived to pick up the order Amy her mother asked for my credit card... I ordered Penang curry which was meh and pad e noodles w about 5 pieces of vegetables. I think because they are expensive too. I understand businesses are struggling, however if you want to win over customers you must 1. Serve normal portions, not huge just normal 2. Have better customer service . The food overall is below average. I will not be back. ..... I have been craving for Thai food for months. I checked on yelp and found Khao Soi Thai with pretty high ratings. I ordered yellow curry, hot chicken wings and roast duck over rice w Chinese broccoli. The yellow curry flavor was good, potatoes under cooked. I came here because of the Try Guys try Thai food video. I left really really full and super happy. The food here is delicious!! The khao soi was so flavorful, and the fried chicken was SO GOOD. Might be in my top fried chickens ever! The batter is super fluffy and delicious. We also had this pork dish that was delicious too, though I don't remember the name. The staff here is super nice. I feel lucky that we got to visit on a rainy day because it wasn't crowded at all. There is underground parking and they require vaccinations for dine in. The place is spacious and the food tastes amazing and made me feel homey and comforting. Location is off the street and it feels like a hidden secret. You can't see the restaurant from Ventura Blvd. It's in a strip mall. The entrance/driveway to parking is hard to find, but there's plenty of it. We just parked at the big lot nearby for Athleta/Banana Republic. Patio seating is quite charming, & more importantly pet friendly. We started out with the Spicy Fried Chicken Wings. You can adjust the spice level. Good flavor, but slightly on the salty side. The wings were tiny. I came here for the main attraction - Kao Soi - with soft tofu. Fried tofu is available too. Other protein options are available at an extra cost. This is my favorite Thai dish, and their version has a stronger curry flavor than other places, but still very delicious. Generous portion. I just wish the crisp noodles were still crispy. Hubby's Beef Thai Salad was tasty. We asked for medium level, and it was hot to me. I always get Thai iced tea, and it measured up. Service is actually quite good for a Thai restaurant. Our water was diligently refilled. Although it's not exactly close to home, we'll be back. read more

I like Khao Soi Thai and think it's a good place for take out. I'm not a big fan of dining in though. I do like Nicky who I think is the owner. She is s pleasure to chat with while waiting for my chicken sate and coconut . I would come in just to see her since she's so welcoming and accommodating! My favorite dishes so far are the Tom Yum soup and Pad Se Yew with chicken. The egg rolls are also nice, hot, crisp, and stuffed with veggies. Love this version of Khao Soi! It's less creamy and sweet than most but still retains the flavor very well and there's the right noodle to broth ratio! The owner Amy is so sweet and from Chiang Mai so this is her recipe! If I lived closer to Studio City I'd def eat here more. Green curry was also very good. The only thing w takeout if our containers broke so there was some spillage in the bag. I've seen some Thai places cover the contained with plastic before putting the lid on if that helps? It's hot soup so I get that it's not easy to transport! I'm looking forward to eating here dining in in the future and until then they are still open for takeout! read more

Simply wonderful! Hadn't had good Thai food since our trip to Thailand and this place aces it! Service is great and food yummy and traditional. We both had the Kao Soi, which has been hard to find in LA, and it's delicious. There are 4 spiciness levels to choose from: mild, medium, spicy, super. We got medium and it's a good level of spicy but not overpowering the flavors. We had one with soft tofu and one with chicken, both really good. Everything smelled good and we're definitely going back to try more food from this gem! There's both an outdoors and indoors area and parking is easy (there's a few spots out front in the little plaza the restaurant is at) as well as a public parking structure 2 minutes away that's very convenient. Pretty good spot for Thai. I was going over to my sister's in the SGV for dinner on Wednesday night and for some reason this was the day all my favorite NoHo Thai places decided to close. This was a little out of the way, but it was open and rated well. So I placed an order for some chicken satay, chicken wings, shrimp pad Thai (asked for them to put peanuts on the side as my niece is allergic), beef lat nah, chicken drunken noodles, and chicken yellow curry. On my way they called to let me know that they ran out of chicken wings, I didn't really have anything else in mind to replace that with, so just left as is. Figured it was plenty of food without the wings. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was a parking lot which is sort of rare of Ventura Blvd. Parked and picked up the food. Checked in with Yelp and saw that they offered a free drink with a purchase over $30. I got the Thai Iced Tea - was a little too sweet for my taste but nice nonetheless. Khao Soi Thai is a restaurant that is hard to see on the strip of Ventura Blvd, since it's tucked away in an outdoor shopping center. But don't miss it. It's a hidden gem. I say this because their food is really as delicious and as authentic as it gets, like something out of the Sherman Way Thai restaurants and Thai town in Hollywood. I think I've been here at least 5 times already, and I was always satisfied each time. What do I most recommend? Definitely, their Khao Soi noodles, which is a delicious coconut curry soup with noodles and chicken. Very good. I also loved their shrimp cake balls, their fried chicken, their pad kee mao, the crab fried rice, the pad gra pow over rice, the papaya salad. There's just too much to name. And you cannot miss out on the mango sticky rice dessert, when it is available in season. It's really one of the best I've had in a Thai restaurant or as street food. So if you're in Studio City and looking for a great Thai restaurant, come to this place. I can safely say it's one of the best restaurants in Studio City, and the ambience is pretty cool here. Everything here was delicious. The main reason for coming here was to try the obvious khao soi. We ordered to pick up at 5:00 on a Monday night. Waited about 15 minutes. We got the khao soi with pork, papaya salad, pad see ew, fried rice and chinese broccoli w/ pork. The khao soi - finally tried it. It was good... however I don't think I could eat the whole bowl. We did family style so we split it. That was the perfect amount, imo. What does it taste like? Basically thinner consistency Thai red curry with noodles, topped with crispy noodles and alliums. That's literally the dish. I like it. However, I don't see myself craving this dish all the time. The rest of the dishes were your typical Thai food. Everything was delicious, fresh and well-seasoned. My only gripe was with the chinese broccoli. On the menu, the picture of this dish shows crispy pork. Thinking that was the pork, we chose pork as our protein for our broccoli. Nope! It was regular old shreds of pork. Idk why they advertise crispy pork but don't give it when we choose that option. It was still good though! I have a good Thai place 2 minutes away from my house so I don't think I'd drive all the way to Studio City for Thai food. But if I'm in the area, I would definitely go again. read more
